Friendly staff, great location, food was tasty. The sampling plate the highlight with a taste of Australia, the Barramundi Curry was a little on the lighter flavour side but still fresh, and the open air seating meant the heat was the one drawback.
Great service, most of the food very good - the Barramundi unfortunately not so.
We ordered the 'mashed avocado with macadamia & and wattle seed dukkah with fetta' (requested on the side) as an entree and for the mains, 'Barramundi wild caught local' and a vegan 'Masoor Dhal'
I found the barramundi fillet was generous and thick however I found the fish resembled typical fish and chips rather than high quality grilled fish.
I expected a piece of barramundi grilled with the skin on, however the egg wash applied made it feel battered and the texture and taste more resembled fish and chips. I first confirmed this was not the fish and chips and was advised of the egg wash applied. At $36 I feel ripped off as I have to previously ordered barramundi fish and chips in Townsville which was very comparable at a fraction of the cost.
I planned to give a 3 star for my main alone ('It's Okay') however as the entree was good and my partner also advised the same for her vegan Dhal, I'll give the review a 4 star ('liked it').
P.S - the menu on the website currently (29/1/22) has a fish burger available which is not available on the printed menus in store.
I guess I'm always wary of restaurants right at the door of attractions, but i was totally wrong in this case. Frogs had a great take of options, well cooked and served quickly. We had a couple of small lamb curries and a chicken burger, plus a local tasting plate (roo, emu and croc)
