We enjoyed our meal, very fresh and tasty. Good service, very nice decor, with friendly service.
Our visit to The Farmer's Plate was a story of redemption.
After having to reluctantly prompt the staff for acknowledgement (not one but two separate people), we found a table, made our selections and waited to order.
A different staff member served us and was friendly and helpful. We ordered an Apple Jack smoothie, a flat white and a chai latte. Our meals consisted of a Chicken Caesar Salad and a Pumpkin & Chickpea Salad. We also ordered some sweet potato fries.
Our drinks arrived quickly and were all very nice. The meals, however, seemed to take quite a long time and added frustration after the initial lacklustre reception.
Then everything changed.
A really approachable and honest lady (wears glasses and works in the kitchen) came over to explain, quite candidly, that the main fryer had died mid-shift and everyone was scrambling to meet demand. She repeatedly apologised for the delays before serving up our meals. Which, for the record, were tasty and thoroughly enjoyed.
As we ate our meals, we made mention of the fact that we were still waiting on our sweet potato fries. They were delivered, soon after, by a gentleman that also worked in the kitchen. He was exceptionally humble and profusely apologetic, reiterating the challenges they'd faced. He was genuine enough to offer the fries free of charge, as consolation for the delays.
Although our visit did not start positively and some frustration grew, this decision, by the staff, to have a discussion with us was pivotal. That insight allowed us to understand the situation which, in turn, made us relax and gain patience. Bad luck affects us all and, on that day, The Farmer's Plate was the victim.
In hindsight, removing the hurdles and abnormal conditions would have created a completely different day. We would have met calmer staff, had faster service and, as was already the case, enjoyed our meals and drinks. We would therefore happily return to this venue to dine on a 'normal' day.
Great place for a quick lunch.
