Review Tatler Lane By Sweetbrew - Launceston

This place was the culinary highlight of Launceston. There were a handful of good places in the area but this place was amazing. We went during off peak time so we didn't have to wait much but I can imagine it'll be difficult to get a table during the popular times. The food was delicious and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The coffee was great too making this a place I will definitely come back to.

The staff was friendly and welcoming as soon as we walked in. Excellent coffee and great variety of sweet and savoury breakfast options on the menu. When the food arrived, presentation was colourful and well thought out. Highly recommended cafe for breakfast if you’re in town. If you’re lucky you might get seated in one of their quaint private rooms.

Stood out for the cosy space inside and an interesting menu. Friendly staff and amazing smells coming from the kitchen helped the experience along. Left feeling nourished and very satisfied with my meal and take away freshly baked muffins. Would recommend.

If visiting Launceston do not miss this cafe! Went back for our last meal there before flying out. Food top notch, staff very accommodating. Wish it was close to home!

One of the best brunches in Launceston. Five Senses Coffee, Mork hot chocolate and exceptional service. Menu's sprinkled with Middle Eastern/Asian highlights. Sweet as.

A delicious spot in the centre of Launceston. We were recommended this cafe from our nearby Hotel. The food was fresh, and the menu offered a wide variety of interesting options. The citrus crepes were delicious! My partner had the baked chilli eggs - enjoyable but very very spicy. Being from Melbourne, we have dined at a fair few coffee shops. We liked the quaint interior, and atmosphere was hustling and bustling. They were out of lactose free milk - something not a fault of their own (supplier shortages). But the coffee was not too shabby! The only let down, is that right next to us was the coffee machine. Where the barista and one of the staff were having quite a full on bicker at each other. Made it a little uncomfortable!

Food and coffee were great but customer service was not good and certainly left a bad impression for us. We were told to sit and wait for to be attended but no one came to us, they were ignoring because they thought we just sit without talking to anybody (here it goes the first impression). Glasses were dirty and the waiter put his finger inside the glass to “clean” it, in front of us. I hope this is not the standard. As I said before, coffee and food were great!

Lovely and attentive staff. Menu choices were interesting, and the steamed egg breakfast was completely delicious. Also had a nice cold brew - perfect for a hot day

Bleary-eyed and fresh off the boat from Melbourne, I drove into Launceston seeking caffeine - and had the incredible luck to find Sweet Brew. I was greeted by smiling staff, cosy decor and a lineup of chatty locals - always a promising sign. After accomodating my gluten-free request with an extra egg, free of charge, I set up camp in a cute little posse out the back. The tunes were spot on and my brekkie (miso/tofu/pickled radish/egg/avo plated up with more artistry than MONA) arrived ASAP. My long black was the best ever. The food restored my faith in breakfast, beyond smashed avocado on toast. Even the bathroom was spesh. Loved the whole experience; thank you guys! Everyone else? Get yourselves to Sweet Brew!

Really excellent soy chai with real leaves and spices not fake powder or syrup. Plus a truly amazing steamed egg on toast dish - yum.

This digital nomad felt very welcome during my first visit to Sweet Brew!! Lovely chats with the staff and a bloody good toastie, coffee and chai. I’ll be back and I’m definitely hoping you’ll run with your idea of hosting Ethiopian dinners of an evening!!

Best food I had in Launceston! Great staff and awesome design. Loved this place and will be back.

It probably is the best cafe in Launceston. We found not only good coffee here, but also the coffee atmosphere, the artworks, the music, friendly people, and the lovely owner - Archana. Her big smile and her passionate love of coffee makes me feel at home at her place. Thank you Archana, wish you all the best with your life and career. I am sure we will meet again in future. 😀

Wow!!!! What a find! This gorgeous cafe is the top jewel in Launceston's crown. The coffee and chai blends are second to no other. The food is fresh, creative, delicious and most certainly not the same old menu as most other places. Chef Damian has a forever fan in me. A beautiful lady Arch and the wonderful staff make you feel very welcome. Highly recommended if you want excellent food and a welcoming face when in Launceston.

This is a truly ethical business, with helpful, friendly staff, fabulous vegetarian food and great coffee.

I really loved the delicious toasties here! The creative use of kale and green vegetable with stringy cheese was a delight on a wet wintery December afternoon.

Launceston is super lucky to have Damien Bateman cooking up a storm in sweet brews kitchen! Best flavours Amazing food and coffee always on point!

Nice coffee! Nice staff! Got my coffee for free for informing them that their opening hours in Google Map needs to be updated as they have recently changed their operating hours! Thanks for the nice gesture!

I love everything about Sweetbrew! Their new menu is a stunner, coffee is consistently amazing, and the chai is so delicious! What I also love about that place is that every time I’m there, I feel like I’m at home with the family! The owners (Tim & Arch) are always so kind, generous and so open and truly present, as are the rest of the team! I’m so grateful we have our Sweetbrew in Launceston!

Flavourless and bland food . The porridge was tasteless with barely any rhubarb. The DT Croissant was soggy and devoid of any flavour aside from insipid wet tomato. Service was nice and friendly but food was just not good enough to give this place a second go

This is a nice cafe in Launceston with a large seating area. We only visited for a quick coffee which was pretty good. The coffee art was nice! Service staff were lovely.

Great coffee and more. After enjoying a Magic they suggested a small equally delicious little number served in a traditional Ethiopian cup. Very nice touch. The omelette was the coffees equal, beautifully light and delicious.

The variety of seating is unusual, from a quiet space inventively created from an old cool room, to a massive table large enough to share without imposing.

I highly recommend a visit.

This cafe has great little dining spots around the premise. Nice little selection of baked goods in the front cabinet, including house-made muffins. Chai was nice - they serve Prana chai. My meal was not too bad, but would have preferred an egg to be included in the price of the corn fritters dish. This is definitely a lunchy meal rather than a breakfast one (whole loose corn kernels and capsicum cubes within the mixture when you cut the fritter in half).

My friend and I waited twenty minutes for take away coffees after we’d finished our meals and paid the final bill - staff were chatting amongst themselves and there were no other customers waiting when we ordered. I felt that if they forgot one of our coffees or put it through incorrectly - it should be prioritised over other orders that came in afterwards. We watched several dine-in coffees being made and served in the time between alerting staff that we were still waiting for our ‘coffee-that-seems-to-have-gone-astray’ and actually receiving the beverage. On a high note - customer service was nice and the coffee was bang on. I don’t mind waiting for good coffee, but communication is key and the customer who ordered first should be served first.

Ok we did arrive as kitchen was closing. We were told we could order toasted sandwiches from the cabinet. The one I order, not sure what it was meant to be but all it was lots tasteless mozzarella cheese and some relish and a sprinkle of rocket. For the money paid not worth it at all. I was told by one at our table coffee ok and his toasty ok.
Moved up to Launceston about 2 months ago and so far this is my favourite place for brunch / lunch – creative menu, great quality ingredients executed really well (turmeric pancakes a bit sweet, but that’s also personal preferences) – great coffee, great atmosphere, friendly staff. The only problem is it’s stopping me from exploring other places as it’s hard to go past!

Nice and cozy brunch place.

I ordered the Baked Bean Sweetbrew Egg and Chai latte. The food and drink was perfect.

Though, we weren’t greeted or even a small gesture to acknowledge a customer when we came in the door (they weren’t even busy) and had to come up to them to ask for a sit.

Food: 4/5
Setting: 4/5
Staff: 3/5

This is my favourite breakfast place in Launceston! So many options and they are all good! The interior is also one of a kind. The service is also top notch! Have a go and experience a true blue Tassie's brunch experience!

Warm atmosphere, delicious food, little piece of Melbourne, great coffee.
Sweetbrew greats you with the aromas of beautifully roasted coffee, as you make your way to the counter you are greeted by the baristas and a delicious cabinet full of pastries and assorted sandwiches.

Came here for brunch while visiting Launceston, based off of good online reviews. Great, tasty, and creative brunch options, although the servings were a little smaller than I would have expected for the $17-$18 price tag. Excellent coffee and Prana Chai - my fave chai. Eggs were cooked beautifully until crisp around the edges, mushrooms super tasty but would have liked more. Would have expected 2 slices of toast as the slice provided was rather small, and more goats curd on it, as well. Still, tasty food and I guess it meant we had room to try other amazing food in Launceston afterwards! ;)

Great coffee, excellent vibe...and a extensive range of pastries, very fresh!. I will be back next time in Tas, and hopefully have more time to try out a full breakfast.

Fabulous service. Staff incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their equivalent of a ham and cheese toastie is delicious. Excellent ambience. Would come again

A cool place to have breakfast/brunch or just to hangout and have a cuppa coffee. Good coffee, and great breakfast. Portion is not that great for what it costs.

Hello. Imnikki
Behind this tiny shopfront is actually two different seating areas hidden away from prying areas and accessible through the laneway at the back of the shop. Table numbers come in the form of gigantic playing cards, very hipster of them. Same can be said for the menu. Steamed eggs with a medley of fried mushrooms on rye and an organic peanut butter and chocolate brownie/pastry hybrid were the two things that caught my eye. Mushrooms are good and healthy for me therefore I can indulge in dessert after. The mushroom dish was the better dish, excellent in flavour and texture. The sweet dish was let down by a chewy and tough puff pastry but the generous serve of peanut butter saved it from being a total failure. Skinny latte was pretty decent, a bit hot but was saved by the beans. A light fruity aftertaste was a nice complement to the sweets I ordered. Super friendly and helpful service from the staffs, chef and barista included.

Another visit to Sweetbrew and I wasn't disappointed.Delicious decaf served with a smile, a choice of warm and cosy rooms in which to relax and customer service in spades.

Excellent coffee, the best we had in Tasmania during our week here and on the east coast! Delicious pastries as well great for a quick breakfast while on holiday.

A small and cosy cafe which serves good cappuccino and latte. We tried their almond croissant, though cold but still flavourful. A great stop for a coffee break.

We took a quick detour in our recent Tasmanian foodie travels to sample Sweet Brew and were not disappointed. It is a cool gun-barrel-come-tardis experience with seating out the back and front and a tight space inside where all the action happens. The coffee was excellent and worth the trip alone. The staff were friendly and quick too. Many locals chatted to the staff and walked away with trays of takeaways (if that's not a great endorsement, I do not know what is!). I'd highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great coffee in Launceston.

I am a massive coffee person and have tried so many different coffees around Melbourne.
During my stay in Launceston, I visited sweetbrew cause of the good ratings on zomato and I must say this is perhaps one of the best coffees I've had! Awesome coffee, not too bitter and taste a bit creamy which I love!
Food Hunters
A lovely find in Launceston. Service was attentive and friendly. The approach to the fittings and ambient music was just a tad ad hoc and incoherent, but we didn't come here to admire the curtains! Food wise we had long blacks with a chocolate croissant and a panini which were pretty good, but it was the lemon tart we had to go that was, like, amazeballs. Now I do confess a personal soft spot for lemon tarts in general so I ain't gonna lie about this inherent bias, but still, overall they easily earned their four stars.

Tiny little place for coffee. Good coffee, great staff and friendly service. I had the toasted banana bread for breakfast, which was delicious. Would like to go back and try some of the pastry options next time.

Small cafe with good ambience. Coffee was relatively weak and not bitter. Chili chocolate tart was good, right balance of both flavours. Cake and sandwich was averge .

Great Coffee. My partner and I went to Sweatbrew twice during our stay in Launceston over Aust Day long weekend. Great coffee, awesome pastries and friendly staff.
I was dissapointed though when they were closed on Aust Day after they told me they would be open :-(

Charming little cafe with excellent coffee. I loved the cute little alcove at the back where you can kick back in the booths and enjoy the artwork. Food menu is limited. Nice decor.

Quirky venue with amazing sandwiches, great coffee & fun, friendly service. I Love it!

Yummy. Fav cafe. Always call in when in town. Although tiny in size this cafe never disappoints. Love the Wet Chai, Soy FW & the Hot Choc varieties. Can buy fresh daily Manu Bakery Goods which are to die for - raspberry brioche, citrus tart that's sharp ! Vegetarian type rolls sold too. In or outdoor seating with blankets in winter. Doggy bowl out front. And friendly staff who are passionate about and well trained in their art. Thanks for opening !

Great coffee!. Visiting from Melbourne last weekend & happy to stumble upon this little gem - fabulous coffee, delicious pastries & friendly service. Will definitely drop by again when I am in town!

What a find!. Sweet-Brew may be small (dining for only 6-8 inside - plus tables outside) but it is a gem of a coffee shop. The coffee is rich and expertly made. The sandwiches/rolls different and the cakes/pastries lovely. The price is very reasonable, 2 coffees, a walnut camembert and baby spinach baguette and a large almond croissant for $19.50! All topped by great service. They also sell various sour-dough breads. 5 stars

Wonderful service and the European Hot Choc is to die for. The Lego is great too. :)

The most amazing people- I couldn't eat their sandwich combos due to dietary requirements and they made me an amazing Brie and tomato sandwich on their Manu olive bread!! Coffee was also excellent!
