Review The Metz - Launceston

I love this place. Great atmosphere, great food, staff are friendly and polite. it is clean, fresh and the decor is really pretty. the platter I had was fantastic and not over priced. great place to eat or relax with some friends over a platter and a few drinks or some local wines. If you are travelling around Launceston and not sure where to eat.. give this place a try đź‘Ť

Fantastic experience! Friendly staff and delicious food. It's pricey, yes, but you get what you pay for. So, it's well worth it! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it, although it was difficult to communicate and figure out whether the restaurant was open (we tried calling and instagram message). Also, a few items on the menu were sold out - oysters & a specific beer I wanted. But that's fine, it was public holiday and it was very busy - you could see staff was working hard and at a fast pace, so it does need to be taken into account. We had a beef tartare and a the Mushroom + truffle + prosciutto pizza that was really, really good! All in all, brilliant food, friendly staff and great environment. It is what matters. 5-star rating. Thanks!

The vibe and decor is just stunning. Service super grand and the food so tasty. I had the Korean bowl and the kimchi fried rice had a great smoky flavour. My friend loved the duck risotto. As strange as this may sound, we kind of thought the bathroom would be opulent to match. Just regular hahahah I cannot wait to visit again to come back here. Amazing.

The absolute worst place that I visited during my trip to Launceston. While the Donzelle was a delicious starter, it's not hard to fry dough and salt it. The second I was seated all I could think about was the ridiculous amounts of lights in the medium sized restaunt, i felt as if I needed sunglasses or a weilding helmet to see. Despite this, I was excited to try the Tasmanian soy poached salmon and my company ordered the salmon again and the pork belly, it took 50minutes since ordering for our mains to come out and when they did it was a disaster. The both of the salmon "slabs" were like rock, it looked okay from afar but I stabbed it with fork then hit the whole piece against my plate, it did not break. It was like a cement bar.... I've had well done salmon but this was next level horrible. It was as if they had been cooking for the whole 50 minutes it took to be made additionally I was missing my brocolini and was not informed of any shortages . On the other hand the pork belly was nice and well cooked but after the salmon... disappointment. I was not waiting another 50 minutes for their chef to figure out how to poach salmon. For a $42 dish that was unacceptable.

PERFECT creme brulee, cake and lemon pudding but the bombolini could use a bit more cream. The waitress at the counter that I paid the bill to, was very friendly.

Had the most wonderful time today at The Metz, as we always do. My mum and I came all the way up from Hobart to have the Nepali Chicken pizza, which sadly went off the menu just a few days ago! Thankfully, Mackenzie checked with the chef to see if there was something similar on the new menu, and we had the divine Butter Chicken pizza instead. It was absolutely heavenly. Such a lovely place! We will definitely be back in the near future 🧡

The restaurant had great atmosphere, but that’s where the positive ends. Food came slow, servings were petite and quality of the food definitely does not warrant the price tag. The sour dough bread was decent, but it was destroyed by the amount of salt they’ve massaged into the butter. It’s like Saltbae works there and he’s doing overtime or something. Lamb ragu Linguini that had to be changed to spaghetti because they had no any other pastas available…. It was so bland I wanted to add that saltbae butter for seasoning. Pesto pizza was just ok. Pork belly was probably best dish of the night, because it was normal, besides the serving size made it looks like it’s from the kids menu. Last but not least the mushroom sides, well saltbae made his return again with this dish. I had to eat it with the spaghetti so I don’t pass out from the salt. After this atrocity, we ran across the road to Jaffar kebab to get some churros for desserts.

Big drinks menu with something for everyone. Food was the highlight, the cheddar and sour chives with sourdough was refreshing, Although the pork cheek was a small plate, in many Sydney eateries, this would be a main, the pork cheek was incredibly tasty and the apples paired perfectly with the dish. The roasted vegetables with yoghurt were the highlight for my partner, and I loved the seafood pizza. Highly recommended.
