Review The Gorge Restaurant And Kiosk - Launceston

Fantastic evening celebrating our wedding anniversary. Assume it's a local secret as we had the log fire and friendly staff to ourselves. Will be back for sure.

Every dishes are delicious! We tried chowder soup, white deep fish from today’s dish, eye fillet with seafood and chocolate ripple vacherin. Their plate decorations are eyes catching. And the staff are professional and pleased.

Highly recommended for weddings and events, we got married here and it was an absolutely perfect evening! Incredible food (new menu update is great), attentive staff, and beautiful surroundings! Accommodated all dietary requirements nicely and helped us organise our evening.

Beautiful location, but the cafe wasn’t great. The iced coffee did not taste good and it had cheap cream and ice cream. We ordered an iced coffee without whipped cream and it still came with cream. The lime milkshake tasted nothing like lime, and the vanilla slice was too hard and didn’t taste good. The only thing that was okay was the carrot cake.

Discovered this gem while taking a evening walk along the gorge. Thank you for a lovely evening. Food was absolutely delicious. Staff were so welcoming and accommodating particularly with our toddler.

Stunning views over Cataract Gorge, good food, relaxed service. The Gorge itself is amazing . How lucky we are in Tasmania. Well worth a day of walks as easy or difficult as you choose

Nice little restaurant in cataract gorge surrounded by lively peacocks. Food and service was good. We had the calamari and the today's special seafood chowder in cob bread.

Wonderful staff, superb food. Lovely setting with an open fire. Very well lit path from the Trevallyn side carpark. I would highly recommended The Gorge Restaurant.

The Gorge Restaurant never fails to disappoint me with cuisine, wines, service and its charming setting and I have returned again and again over many years. One of our favourite eateries for our family and friends to catch up and dine ( children & adults). Our table of 10 ordered a range of dishes from the dinner menu and the food and wine was enjoyed by all. We will return !!

Had the best experience of dinning out with my family for mothers day on Friday.. Had the winter special, couldn't fault the food, the best food I've ever tasted, beautiful!! The staff were very lovely as well, very welcoming!! An all over beautiful night. Will defiantly be dinning here again!!

My mother in law got food poisoning from ordering the seafood chowder and Chicken breast... Meals a bit pricy for someone on a budget... Lovely garlic butter and calamari though... Manager didn't really do much when I rang about my mother in law throwing up from eating the food at their restaurant.... Just blaming whatever she ate during the day as a result for throwing up her food... No apoplogy, no free meal nor voucher, no phone call about how she was.. That part made me disgusted... Bit squishy in dining area (not enough room space when sitting down to eat)

Horrible food horrible night. arrived in the wet and had to yell out to the waiter from the kitchen to get some service. Granted he greated us with a friendly smile as we were escorted to the table sat next to the fire. the sparce dated surroundings setting the mood for what was a miserable however slightly entertaining meal. The wine list was extensive, however the menu left little to offer. Mum and I opted for bread instead of a entrée ($8 for two choices) the bread was nice however the sampling of sauces was very small causing us to ration our servings. For mains mum ordered the catch of the day (the catch of someday in a distant past) served with a non descript béchamel sauce, prawns, three pieces of carrot, three beans, a potato, and half a tomato. the prawns and vegetables were frozen and the fish less than fresh put it on the eat-ability scale of I've ordered now I must eat as I have to pay ($25) for it. I opted for chicken served with chorizo and you guessed it a non descript béchamel sauce, three pieces of carrot, three beans, a potato, and half a tomato. After I took one bite and knew something was very very wrong. It caused an upset stomach which I am enjoying so much on my holiday away. Seeing my very entertaining facial expressions my mother took a bite and proceed to, very politely I might add, spit it out and return the meal to the kitchen. they allowed me to choose another dish from their very large selection (sarcasm), I chose the only vegetarian option a sweet potato bake thing. bland in taste over priced and served with (you guessed it) three pieces of carrot, three beans, a potato, and half a tomato. dessert was an icecream meringue stack that could easily have been assembled from your frozen food section at woolies or coles and came highly recommended by the waiter. They added an extra layer as a sign of good faith after the main meals struggled to be edible. follow our over priced meal we then had to trudge 5minutes up flights of stairs to our car in the rain. very disappointed as I had read such great reviews.

My favourite restaurant in Launceston. The food, service & atmosphere is, & always has been, consistently great! The winter cocktail special ‘Spiced G&T’ is to die for! Thank you team GR.

We went for lunch and it was delicious, try the sharing plate for 2, its fantastic. Wine is expensive so be aware if that, the food is very reasonably priced and the location is magical. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Three of dined for lunch yesterday opting for the 2-course lunch special, a bottle of wine and an espresso martini each. We all had the chowder and very much enjoyed this. Two of us had the beef cheek which just melted in your mouth as did the mash. Our third member enjoyed the pink ling. fantastic service and ambience and one of the best all-round meal experiences I have enjoyed.

Just amazing! Chicken Salad for entree and the Beef Cheeks for main! Well, those beef cheeks were melt in your mouth! Wine list, ambience and service, always spot on.

Had lunch there with my family. The food was excellent, the staff all friendly, attentive and also showed their great sense of humour. They were extremely accommodating with my dad, who is wheelchair bound. A fantastic and memorable last Tasmanian meal before we flew back to Brisbane. To all the staff, cheers and keep up the great service.

Enjoyed a very good lunch last Saturday ......food was great ....I had the chowder which was exactly what id hoped for and very fiiling and my friend had the quail which was incredibly good. The other highlight was the the young buskers who played outside under the verandah......they were very good and made a lovely atmsophere. Hope that keeps going over the summer months! Thanks Adrian.....another great experience at The Gorge Restaurant 😊
