Review Olive's At Newstead Hotel - Launceston

I have always had the ability to book and I recommend it though they always seem to make it look easy so try if not. The food is great, good quality and comes out quick. The chips and salad sides are great, as are there mains. It's a great pub feed... Steak, pizza, army, fish. Check the specials and they often have daily deals. There pizza can also be takeaway and they are great and a good deal for two with tasty flavours. The staff are always friendly and professional and the place is always clean.

Excellent House Made scallop mornay pie. Just the trick for Easter ! Fresh seafood filling , tasty flavours and perfect crust. Well done. I'd include a photo but i ate it before i could get to that !

Very pleasant place for families, friendly atmosphere, food is yummy & not a long time to wait.

Staff good meal nicely served price reasonable atmosphere place nice and warm wouldn't hesitate to go there again

Great kids menu for $12. My steak was juicy and cooked exactly as I asked. The green peppercorn sauce was hot and plentiful. Will make Olives my new local

The one thing that attracted me about this restaurant were its wood fired pizza. Well the one I have yesterday was the worst pizza I have ever had. Yuk.

I have eaten at Olives many many times, I go back specifically for the deep fried mushrooms that are normally to die for! Today I leave with extreme disappointment, today the mushrooms were soggy wet and soft with no crunch at all..No golden crisp crunchy crumbed shell. They came with a tasteless sauce that I was scraping the dish for just to complete my meal.. No chilly bite in that creamy sauce I have had them served with many many times before, the sauce along with the mushrooms are normally amazing and I'm left wanting more.. The ball has certainly dropped Since last time I ate there.. As my favourite dish of all times when choosing to dine, I'm wondering if I should try again at some stage or just go elsewhere

Went today for lunch and the meal was great couldn’t fault it all. Was decent size serving and the staff were wonderful and friendly thank you

We were booked for what we thought was a seafood buffet on Christmas Day. As the booking was made by the lady we arehouse sitting for we can only assume there was a communication problem. Sadly we were disappointed from the outset when we discovered that apart from prawns and a seafood salad the main fare was traditional. We found the staff all very friendly, but again, sadly, apart from Bon bons and colourful serviettes and table cloths the venue lacked atmosphere. E g no carols, Christmas tree. Santa etc etc. many of the guests arrived late too and we found ourselves isolated as we chose to sit inside due to the heat and lack of air conditioning. While we found the staff friendly and service prompt when we sought it out, we felt they could have offered table service for top up drinks etc. and perhaps introduced us to some locals. Assuming they would know the local customs. All in all, the food was good, service good and we don't have anything to complain about, but believe the Christmas Lunch could have been better with little effort. Happy New Year.

We had a table of 9 last night & all of our meals were absolutely beautiful, could not fault the service and over all dining experience, I had the lamb backstrap it was to die for �

Just had a steak 🥩 and a pint was very enjoyable , the staff and price were good

Hi guys just had a meal, cost me $36.00 bucks a surf and turf and omg what a rip off . I've been coming here over 15 years and the young grill who served me did not give a rats , I asked her if she would pay for this crap . And she didn't say anything ... Piss poor , not coming back omg wtf

Pork knuckle was huge very nice but way too large. My mum had roast pork meat was a little tough but overall a very nice meal. Nice open fire made it relaxing & warm . The pizzas looked very popular 👍

5 star as always. Enjoyed by all. Will definatly b back.
