Review Pachinko - Launceston

I have not been more disappointed about an ‘modern Asian’/‘Asian fusion’ restaurant in my life. Unfortunately there was no redeeming dishes on the night. Everything was super overpriced and the portions were tiny. If the food tasted good I would have been okay with that but nothing was great or even okay. The service was average as well. We were also sat at the most awkward table for 4 in a tiny hallway facing a wall… we were lucky to have had a big lunch so we ordered the minimum we could honestly couldn’t have left faster. They also tried to charge us for a dish we didn’t even order. From the Japanese name, to the Chinese music/artwork and the western servers, this is the epitome of westernised Asian gone horribly wrong.

Finally got around to having dinner here tonight and will definitely be going back! Japanese inspired menu using local produce. The lamb skewers from the hibachi were some of the tastiest skewers we have ever had outside Japan. Well thought out wine / alcohol list compliments the food.

This is a great little restaurant. It is quite a small venue, so definitely book ahead. It has a good ambience and some tasty food. The service was efficient. The food was all nice, but I didn't find it amazing. My favourites were actually the vegetarian dishes we got. The Vietnamese coffee granita dessert was also pretty yummy. The accompaniment with the fish was average. The fried chicken was soft and not crispy.

The restaurant was full, so we sat outside. Even though it was cold outside, we are so glad we stayed. We had Sichuan Dumplings, Chicken Karaage, Tempura Cauliflower, and Beef Tartare. Delicious! Great drinks list too, including local wines, shochu, and Sake. If I could pass an idea to the owner, it would be that I'd love to order warm sake please! Service was friendly and knowledgeable and food was excellent. Thank you!

I had spied Pachinko as a recommendation on a Tasmania Travel website when planning our trip - and I'm so glad that we ate here! An intimate and simple venue with great atmosphere. We couldn't decide what to pick from the menu so settled on the Feed Me banquet - and feed us they did! This is honestly some of the best modern Japanese-fusion food we've had, and the menu was the perfect balance of flavours - and so much food we left stuffed! Staff were super friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend the Kingfish, Wontons and the Chicken Karaage.

Favourite restaurant we went to in Launceston. Friendly team doing a modern take on Japanese. Steak tartare and onion rings were wow!

PACHINKO IS LEGIT. My partner & I had dinner here while we were on holiday and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic (and such great value) - better than any of the Japanese we could get back home, the wine list was banging and the service was attentive and lovely. We had the best time and will absolutely come back. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.

We found it difficult to find a restaurant at short notice in Launceston. Unbelievably this restaurant is amazing. Every dish from entree to main to dessert is beautifully and lightly balanced with lots of complex flavours paired with excellent wines. A gastronomic delight and a Tasmanian find. Eat here. It is great.
