Review Holy Guacamole - Launceston

Kristian Sowerby-Williams
Can't recommend it enough. Staff are great, food is freshly prepared and delicious, and the breakfast burrito, what more can I say.

Awesome food, great coffee and service. Thank you. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone.

Food: Was slow to be served and was cold. The cheesy fries didn't have much cheese at all. The beef burrito was ok, but the rice was hard like it came from the bottom of the rice cooker. Some grains were so hard I had to put them on the side. Presentation is not amazing. Staff: friendly and welcoming Price : Was ok but the quality was not there You will get a better burrito at zambreros with no doubt.

Granted, it was Boxing Day, but order took between 45 and 60 minutes to reach the table, as in the first dish arrived after 45 minutes, then the last person got theirs 15 minutes after. The chilli cheese fries had no cheese, the chips were very oily and salty. We ordered two burgers, and then we were told they had ran out. One was substituted for a cheaper meal, but no offer of a refund. After all that, it didn’t even taste good. I would not bother going back, and wouldn’t recommend it to people I like.

Went in with a group of 5. First they ran out of beef patties so one of the orders had to be changed to sliders. Then after 45 minutes, 4 of the orders came out and my chilli cheese fries were barely warm and didn’t have any cheese whatsoever. Then after a total HOUR of waiting, the last burger came out, without lettuce or tomatoes. I would rather eat plain, burnt toast than return to Holy Guacamole.

I enjoyed great service here. Was disappointed that their own beer wasn't available, however I settled for the James boags red (as I'm from out of town I hadn't tried it before). Prompt delivery to the table of juicy chicken with lettuce and cheese and pulled beef and coleslaw with bbq sauce sliders with a side of chips springkled with cheese, a long with a buffalo chicken wings with a spiced tangy sauce. Good Mexican menu with an array of extra sauces and different meat and vege options.

Sliders made with dry buns, similar to supermarket style rolls. Took about 20 minutes to prepare with chips. Only me in their at the time of ordering. Would need serious change for repeat business.

Food was good. The proportions were very much weighted towards the chips. The avo- chicken burger was very avocardoie and chickeny. Burrito was good. Drink were nice. Atmosphere was quite nice and very typically Mexican 🙂

Perfect food, amazing service! My new favourite place to eat! I can’t recommend this place highly enough!! The prices are affordable, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the staff go out of their way to please.

A group of us were in on Saturday. We all ordered food and drinks. Unfortunately my churros were under cooked but when I went to tell the waitress she could not apologise enough and offered either a refund, replacement or a complimentary drink. All the other food was fantastic and I just wanted to say I was super impressed with how that waitress handled things. Many other waitresses at cafes around Launceston need to be trained like your staff. Well done!

Friendly staff but that's about it. Ordered 2 pulled beef soft shell tacos. Meat was cold and there was so much hot sauce/aioli/sauce it made the torillas very soggy. Hubby says his mexican schnitzel was boring and bland.

We had my sisters hens night at holy guacamole last night and couldnt have been happier with the venue the food and the staff! Dave and the staff were so helpfuly friendly and made the night very relaxed and fun. The food was beautiful so much and very yummy thank you for a great night and highly recommend anyone to have a function here or even just a meal

Try the open burrito. It’s massive. Amazing and I’m pretty sure it’s healthy!

It's a fun place to eat. I would recommend everyone try it at least once....yummo!

What an unexpected surprise when I found this little gem yesterday. Can't say my burrito was the same as I've had at other Mexican restaurants but it was crispy, fresh & delicious, the right Chilli level for me & the staff were amazingly friendly. Pity I couldn't try their Margarita but I'll be back again soon. Thank you.

My friend fell off the Chair and they Didnt even ask If She hurt herself. The food was not very good I make better burritos myself.... and they Didnt have Heinz ketchup... Bye guacamole

Someone's new in town and ready to shake up the Prickly Cactus monopoly of Launceston! That's the narrative to me as an outsider but from insider info (yes, I've got connects) I've also heard that this hip and young Mexican joint is actually owned by the same crew as the Prickly Cactus. Yes it's come around the same time as the post-Mamacita Australia Mexican wave to get a new generation of Launcestonians into Mexican food. However the food at the Prickly Cactus is patently bad and unfortunately it's just real bad at Holy Guacamole too.

Salsa and chips is terrible which is sad because how could it go wrong? Holo said it right when it was watery and trash because it is.

Nachos is bad, cheese is thick and cold, yucky texture.

Dessert nachos? Lets not get into it?

So Toorak, why the score so high? Get drunk with me here one time and I'll tell you ;)

Yes, the saving grace of this spot is that it's a good place to drink in the middle of the Quadrant Mall. On a sunny day it's a lot of fun to sit outside in the sun and knock back some cheap beers or mojitos. I believe frozen and regular margaritas are on the menu too, but I haven't tried them, not out of snobbery but I just didn't think they would be very good. Maybe give it a shot anyway, just depend on the vibe. Would reccomend grabbing a bit somewhere else, maybe even somewhere else in the Qadrant.

Ex sydney pat. Expensive , boring poorly assembled burrito , I think it is the worst mexican food I have ever tasted. please come to launceston gomez

Floury tortilla, tasteless and soggy tasting plate. Disappointing
John
Disapointed. Eaten here a few times always pretty good had lunch there today had to leave it quite uneatable
Holo
Holy Crapoli. Please.

This is not Mexican food by any standard I know.

We had burritos and chips & salsa and literally left it all behind! The salsa tasted like raw tomatoes purée with a little spice added, the chips were not locally made and the burritos were soggy, not even folded properly and tasted of Woolies Mex tinned products.

On my god - please save your self the experience.

Can Tasmanian cafés please learn how to prepare world class food...please!

Just not good enough.. A really, /really/ white take on Mexican food. Bland to the point of absurd, easy on everything but the iceberg lettuce.
Leonie Hutchinson
Food fresh and delicious. Friendly and attentive staff. Loved it.

Yummy nachos :)

The food is about as Mexican as my Jewish Grandparents. Seriously, this place sucks. It was flavourless, bland and uninspiring. Anyone giving good reviews must surely have never tried Mexican before...
Kerry Robinson
How long do you wait to be told there is no table service outside?? 7 diners, 4 staff, 15 min ? Food was ok,
Ali Jay
Not Mexican in any way, shape or form. Waste of money.
Danny
Loved the food and service. The place has a really good atmosphere.

While the food took a little longer than expected to come out, it was all delicious! It tasted fresh and light and there was plenty on offer for those with food intolerances.

Excellent, simple Mexican food. Friendly service. Tasty flavours. The street wrap was delicious! Amazing decor - looks like this is the lunch spot of choice right now in Launceston! It's about time somebody came in and did something contemporary like this. Can't wait to try The Prickly Cactus.
Cat
Almost edible. Terrible meal. How can you stuff up nachos? These guys managed to do it! No cheese and awful dressings. The wine tasted as if it had came out of a box (a very cheap box). Same owners as prickly cactus (also terrible) the chef (more likely cook) really needs to take a trip to Mexico to see how the food really should be, and ditch the microwave. Definitely do not recommend this place - head down the road to live eat. Far better quality and service.

Hmmm. Look, it wasn't awful. In hearing that it's run by the same people as the pretty un-Mexican Prickly Cactus (also in Launceston) I wasn't expecting much. Although it's better than Prickly Cactus, who once used tomato paste as the salsa on nachos. I had a beef burrito, the meat was tender, the flavours were a little underwhelming though. The char-grilled corn was just that, charred. Black. I would advise the owner to maybe go to Mexico and taste the real thing... or if that's too difficult, maybe a trip to Mamsita in Melbourne.
