I needed a birthday cake in a hurry and, being new to Launceston, found this on Google. I couldn't have been more pleased with the cake I got from here. A sponge cake that reminded us of just how yummy a great sponge cake can be! And, considering its very high quality and lovely appearance, I was amazed at the very reasonable price! I should also mention the friendly and helpful staff.

Fantastic service, delicious cakes, cannot do better! They go above and beyond to do what they can for you- once I had the misfortune to lose the cake to the floor when I was bumbling in the door at home and when tearfully I rang to see if they could possibly muster up another with only 2hours notice they cheerfully assured me that all would be well, they would make me another asap, and to top that off they refused to take any payment for the replacement, the original price being around 40-50 dollars. And thereby securing happy customers for life, never had a cake that wasn't delicious!

I have had several "celebration" cakes from this baker and they have all been perfect just as ordered and on time.
Thank you they all were delicious. I currently have an order in for my daughters 18th Birthday I'm sure it will be an absolutely delightful mud cake.

I called this Shop with only 2 days notice as another place had completely let me down, not only was this shop extremely helpful, they even altered their cake decorating to accommodate for a cake for my sisters surprise 50th. I honestly cannot rate them high enough, extremely warm and helpful and went way and beyond to make our cake that not only look great but the cake was as everyone says, delicious, thank you Elphin Continential Cakes, you were amazing and I'm extremely grateful. Don't get me wrong, the quality & choice of baked goods is worth a 5, BUT the customer service of the young woman, with the 'tats', was appalling today. I was embarrassed by her rude, terse comments, & I believe her fellow worker was. Not once, but twice. I went in earlier to purchase one of my favourite items (it hadn't been baked) she was rude then, treating another one of her fellow workers as if she was stupid & she was no better the next time. I have never encountered anything but good service & excellent product, so it took me aback. Maybe she was having a bad day. We all have them. BUT, some serious customer service & teamwork training required I think.

Dined in, so I can't vouch for their cakes, but what I did order was a very disappointing vanilla slice. The custard filling was hardly "vanilla", very yellow (too much egg yolk?) and resembled more like a kind of dough than cream. Pastry was dense and flaked poorly. The brandy snaps were alright though.
