Fantastic Place if you yearning for Italian Food. Too authentic & tasteful.
Spaghetti is hand made, fresh, soft. Sauces are beautifully cooked. We had Fettuccine Moretti and Broccolini Saltati for main course as we wanted to keep it light.
Pannacotta Al Frutti Di Bosco is desert to die for, excellently done to the T.
Look out for the tall guy with a neatly done ponytail to serve you, I missed his name but he was fabulous and made our evening more joyous & comfortable.
Just ONE Instant “put off” for us was, when I asked for extra chili oil dip, a different person serving us at that moment, peeped into our dip bowl and said, you have a lot there, why more !!
Excuse me, are you paying my bill ??
So beware of asking for more Dips, they check your table before they serve you more.

This is my favourite Italian destination in Leichhardt. They have customer friendly staff and that continuously takes care of customer satisfaction. They serve food really hot and fresh. Garlic bread was yum and pizza was also really nice. It was hot and spicy as per our specifications they customised it. Love the ambience as well.

Absolutely loved the antipasti board and the zucchini flowers!! The pasta was really good too - a good ratio between pasta and sauce, and was also generous with ingredients. The desserts were quite good - I especially liked the Mille feuille but the tiramisu wasn’t as good as I expected. It was too dense; not fluffy enough. The service was alright, quite hard trying to get the attention of staff but otherwise, positive experience overall!
My top priority place for Italian food, and a frequent diner at Moretti. Love their pizzas, pastas and tiramisu. This time they had the octopus on their specials, they are up to my expectations and cooked perfectly. Moretti’s food quality is very consistent.
Been here many times before and I have to say overall it’s pretty good. The meals here never really blow my socks off but, it’s a nice date night venue in the area with good service and nice ambience. Tonight I think I came to the realisation that their pizzas are better than their pastas, so I’d go for that.
Have been going to this place for years and the last experience was certainly not as good as previous ones. Staff not that friendly any more. Portion sizes have reduced a lot... But food still as yummy and pizzas to die for.

Moretti is surely one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney! This place has nice cozy atmosphere and the staff were very friendly.
We really enjoyed seafood pasta, fried calamari, gnocchi with rich tomato sauce and lamb&pork meatballs! The portion of the meal was generous but not too much. Every dish was so freshly cooked and delicious! I’d like to try desserts and other food next time! We will definitely go back again.
We ordered takeaway. Got the diavola and vegetariana pizza. We got a small container of chilli whhich we spread liberally onto both pizzas. They tasted good on their own. The diavola pizza was a tad salty but the chilli just added the extra kick I liked. The crust was thin and didn't hold the toppings at the bottom. I would go back.
Wow! we found this place whilst on a walk around Leichhardt and this restaurant easily seemed like one of the best ones. I love the atmosphere and the beautiful decor! The food was really beautiful and tasted delicious. I loved the bruschetta and the pan roasted potatoes . The flavour combinations were just perfect and the plating was fantastic. The pizza was good but also a bit soggy. Would definitely go back

My favorite pizza in Sydney - thin and crusty, delicious and easy to digest - perfectly levitated. Friendly and efficient service. Antipasto plate is amazing ! Make sure to make a booking to get a table, the place is quite big, but always busy.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!
Best Italian I have had in a long long time, my favourite being the seafood fettuccine and the lovely mussels.
Perfectly made sauces for all dishes and the self add cheese system really is delightful, for us Asians we tend to not work well with lactose hence adding cheese on our dishes ourselves really is a bonus!
We started off ordering some drinks, for me the sex on the beach was slightly too strong as the vodka overpowered the juices to much however the strawberry and orange mocktail was pretty good! I could actually taste the strawberry unlike other drinks!
The ambience is amazing, dimmed lighting but it can get so crowded so bookings are compulsory!
A definite let down is how forgetful they were. We were there for a birthday dinner and I had specifically stated we wanted a small birthday song for the birthday girl but it never came... oh well! The dessert made up for it entirely!
The dessert..... AMAZING, perfect crunch with the perfect juicy strawberry in one bite no more words... you must try it for yourself!
Travelling there is quite the problem but and uber or a car ride will be most convenient!

On Saturday night, a friend and I were craving good, authentic Italian, so, of course, we had to drive to Leichhardt. Moretti was amongst the best-reviewed places we could find in the area, so we decided to give it a go. We went in with high expectations, and our expectations were certainly met. The restaurant is spacious, well lit, beautiful, and jam-packed. We were pleasantly surprised with how well we were greeted at front waiting area (which is a little small and could do without the two oversized chairs right next to the door), and even more so when we were seated within 15 minutes and given time to relax, read the menu and decide without being obnoxiously tended to as though they wanted us to eat, pay and leave as soon as humanly possible. On that note, the staff are prompt, professional and lovely (our waitress was especially kind) and is one of the many reasons my friend and I would love to visit again.
Now on to the food: we ordered the antipasto platter for 2 for starters. There was good variation in the delicacies, a decent amount for the price tag, and it is presented beautifully. The platter itself isn't too large and doesn't take up a whopping amount of table space, which is one of my all-time restaurant pet-hates. Overall, my friend believed it could do with more meats for the price tag, but it was nevertheless an impressive appetiser and a good start to the night.
For mains, we ordered 2 pizzas: the Vegetarania, and the Piazza. Our first thought was that we loved the thin, crispy bases on both pizzas - a good base is a great start. The Vegatariana has a lovely flavour to it, but both of us thought we'd like it more with mozzarella (of course that is no fault of the restaurant's but ours for not reading the menu properly) . Next time, we'll be ordering Venezia or Ortolana instead. The Piazza, on the other hand, could do with a stronger burst of flavour (I believe roasted or sundried tomatoes could work better than fresh cherry tomatoes - again, moreso a matter of personal preference), but definitely had a firmer texture and bite to it. Simply put, I liked it a lot more.
On a final note, neither one of us can wait until we visit this lovely place again and try one of their appealing pasta dishes. If you're craving authentic Italian food in Sydney, I would highly recommend this place: I find it impossible to imagine anyone would be unimpressed.
Gnocchi Bolognese are so yummy there! I can eat them every day, I love their ragù.
Also the staff is super nice and there is a good atmosphere.
Cannot rave about this place enough! I would easily rank each of my meals at Moretti as a more significant event than my own birth.
Staff are always lovely and friendly, and is a nice touch to see so many Italians working here.
Across the board food is very good. My personal favourites include the panzanella, amatriciana and just about any of the pizzas.
Specials menu updated weekly and always has some nice additions.
Recommend 100% to anyone thinking of going!

Had a lovely lunch @Moretti today. My husband and I arrived at around 12 on a Wednesday and there were plenty of tables, so we nabbed a great spot by the window. The restaurant feels very spacious and rustic, and the staff were very friendly. Once we had ordered, our drinks and complimentary bread was quickly brought over.
After a short wait, the crumbed mozzarella arrived, which was quickly followed to the table by the Maialona pizza (Italian sausage, salami and ham) and the Fettucine Moretti (fettucine with prawn and mushroom in a tomato cream sauce). Everything was delicious! The crumbed mozzarella was beautifully gooey and chewy with a delightfully crunchy breadcrumb coating. The highlight of the pizza was the tomato sauce, which tasted fresh with a slight tang. The toppings were also enough to balance out the flavours of the crust and sauce. Lastly, the fettucine was gorgeous; as soon as it came to the table you could smell the garlic with a hint of prawn. The pasta was cooked just right and there were plenty of prawns and mushrooms throughout.
With the mains so good, we had to try their desserts as well! I ordered the Coppola Pina Colada, while my husband ordered the Tira Misu. The Coppola Pina Colada was made up of sponge cake 'croutons', topped with vanilla gelato, a layer of caramelized pineapple, more vanilla gelato, topped with whipped cream, crunchy coconut shavings and cinnamon sugar. I demolished it! I also had a bite of my husband's Tira Misu, which was amazing! The serving sizes for each dessert are generous though so I would recommend sharing 1 dessert between 2 people.
Finally, we finished it all off with a latte, which was the perfect end to a great meal!

Came here on a Tuesday night and it was jam-packed - that's always a good sign.
We ordered:
- Suppli Alla Romans (aranchini balls)
- Parpadelle Lamb Ragu (swapped parpadelle for fettucine)
- Spaghetti Marinara
- Diavolo Pizza
✔️ Between the 3 of us we could not fault even ONE part of any of the 4 dishes. It was all just beautiful, authentic Italian food. The service was also faultless, very professional and extremely quick service (our meals were out in 10 minutes as we told them we were in a rush). Restaurant is fancy, the ambience was also really nice, it was similar to a fine dining experience.
❌ Portions are fairly small - but I guess that's a part of why it felt like fine dining.

Came back here for dinner for my mum’s birthday and was blown away once again with everything. We haven’t ordered one thing that has been disappointing, the food is top quality and just amazing. The service is also consistently so quick and faultless, they even made a special dessert for her with ‘happy birthday mum’ written in nutella. Definitely one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been too, we will continue to return here.
Moretti is Italian food done really really well. There is so much ok italian around but this place reminds you how good it can be and why we love it. Well worth a visit.
I had been craving pizza for a while (well, as always), so when we had just enough reason to celebrate we went for it! We ordered pizza Chiara and Grotta. The crust is very thin and tasty, ingredients are a must, in a good dose and very authentic (pancetta, what else?!). For a room that big the staff is effective and nice, and I really appreciated the tiny decorative details. I have to go back and try the pasta!

I love this place. If you want Italian, forget the Italian forum. You need to come to Morettis. You won't regret it.
We have been here more than a handful of times, each time the food is on point, the service is friendly and it's always been a pleasurable experience.
The dishes that we always have are:
Black mussels in a tomato, garlic, black pepper and white wine sauce. This does not come with bread, however you do get bread for the table and that's unlimited refills. This sauce is divine once the bread soaks it all up.
Prawn and zucchini risotto- it's hard to get risotto right. We have tried and tested this one out every time we go. And it has never failed. It's perfect. (We also had a risotto prawn and mussels, this seems to have gone from the menu but this was also perfect risotto)
Zucchini flowers - this was on a specials menu. So this isn't on the normal a la carte. But they were delicious. They should really add it permanently to the menu!!
Barberini Pizza - rocket, parmigiano shavings and prosciutto. The pizza dough is perfectly cooked in the wood fire oven.
Tiramisu- this use to be served in a little jar and it was like a little cute pot plant.
We love love love this place. And we will be returning forever and ever.

We were lucky enough to visit Moretti's pizzaria on a food event night in the last couple of weeks. We got to sample numerous italian beers and specials for their new menu. The service is fantastic, making you feel like youre right at home.
To begin we started off with a fresh plate of octupus with green bean puree and sesame bread and fish tartare the dish was average, not bad but nothing we would rave about either. Afterwards we had pizza puffs paired with proscuitto and anchovie olives. The pizza puffs were bland and boring, the addition of prosciutto on the side was a nice help but in the end just felt like ham on bread. We then sampled 2 small pizzas one topped with salami/pepperoni and the other with mozarella. The pizzas were more delicious than the previous dishes.
Once that had all been eaten we went onto the black ink squid pizza with ricotta and salmon and a pie like pizza with brocolli and pork sausage. Again, both being a let down in flavor and presentation. To end the night we had a fruit pizza which was a delight and refreshing. Each meal was paired with a beer that has been brewed by Italian boutique breweries. The beers were the highlight of the night and will be a fine addition to the new menu.
Have been to Moretti for a Christening before this visit and knew the food was tasty. Really enjoyed the food here tonight.
We started with entrees including antipasto for 3, calamari and king fish carpaccio. Everything was delicious and fresh but the King Fish Carpaccio... wow. Delicious!
Mains I had a chicken kale type dish. Sounded good on the menu but was just a little Boring to be honest. Husband had veal and mum pizza. Mums pizza with zucchini flowers and anchovi was a salty delicious dish. Next it was dessert... 2 out of our 3 desserts were excellent. Would choose the Mille Feuille and tiramisu over the profiteroles which were dry and not very nice.
Service was attentive and polite. Look forward to coming back. Definitely book before you come. This place gets busy.
Had a reservation for 6 people and this place did not disappoint! Instead it surpassed my expectations.
We order a variety of dishes and each was so flavourful. The pastas was made to perfection. We enjoyed the pastas, antipastos and the desserts so much. Another plus is the complimentary bread which was a great time passer especially if your hangry (which I always am) haha.
The only thing we didn't enjoy so much would be the kingfish, but our overall experience was great. Definitely recommend this place. Can't wait to come back to try more dishes. This would have to be my new favourite Italian joint!
Had a quick Pizza here with hungry teenage boys after a movie next door at the Palace. Really lovely and generous proper Italian thin crust pizzas, nice, relaxed staff and a great buzzy feel about the whole place. My only tiny criticism would be that the Pizza (I have a Popolo, mushroom and prosciutto, yumm) could have done with a bit of that lovely scorch on the base.

Service and food was very good, the waiters were polite and we didn't have to wait too long for our food considering the amount of customers. We ordered the Bianca pizza and I don't know if it was supposed to be that dry but it was not satisfying, however the pizza base was very nice in terms of flavour and texture.
Found the place by chance, attracted by the look, conquered by the food! All the waiters were really kind, it was just as being back home! Really enjoyed my time there, the pizza was delicious, and the gnocco fritto I had as entree was just AMAZING!
I have always loved this little piece of Italy here in Leichhardt. The restaurant is always busy & buzzy, great for families with kids, friends, parties or a romantic date. Cant go wrong with any of your choices & the caprese salad, polenta chips & fried calamari are delicious to start. Follow it up with generously topped pizzas or pastas which are taste so authentic & flavoursome. Service is efficient with big smiles. Love this place.

As soon as you walk in to the restaurant you feel a sense of warmth. Your appetite immediately kicks in with the smells of the fresh wood oven pizzas. The ravioli was a must have! Delicate, delicious and made me crave more even once I licked the plate clean. Had a great ambience with exceptional customer service. A Perfect place to dine causally or to celebrate. Can't wait to go back again!
Consistently great! Had the calamari, polenta chips, carpaccio and caprese salad. Everything was delicious and service as always was fantastic. Their authentic pizza and homemade pasta is the best Sydney has to offer.
Excellent food and great service. We rocked up at 530pm and after some initial attitude at the front desk were able to get a table for three without a reservation. We were in and out in time for a 6pm movie. Awesome pasta and wife rates the mussels as best ever.
Moretti at the moment is undoubtedly dominating the Little Italy Scenario. In here I can find the flavour of my beloved country and the pizza is the one that I personally adore, romana style with thin crust and pretty consistent base, Spagna and Piazza are my favourites. Friendly and professional service, endless menu with plenty of choices for every palate with some very traditional recipes that not many other Italian restaurant in Sydney can offer. This place is always busy, make sure to save your spot booking in advance.

This is a fabulous restaurant, it was absolutely hopping when we arrived and we explained that we were going to see a movie after dinner so they made sure our food came out really quickly and were super accommodating. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

If you’re looking for a slice of Italy right here in Sydney, look no further than the bustling Moretti Ristorante Pizzeria which transported us back to all of the feasting we did on our Italian holiday with its winning combo of quality dishes, excellent wines and friendly Italian service. It’s a bit of a no-brainer to say that an Italian restaurant in Leichhardt has decent Italian food, but the passion that the Moretti’s staff have for their food is palpable and it sets them apart, especially with the more unique dishes that you don’t see around town much. We started off with one such dish – the Bruschetta Con Caponata which tastes exactly like what we imagine the region it hails from (Sicily) would taste like – a lively mix of marinated eggplant, celery, salty olives and capsicum, glistening with olive oil and served on toasted bread. Even though usually I don’t like half of the veggies which make up the caponata, I found myself munching away happily on the bruschetta, mostly thanks to the marinated eggplant which binds it all together in terms of flavour and texture.
Delicious food, cosy and lively vibes plus friendly wait staff. This place is definitely a local favourite as it's often quite busy. The antipasto board are top notch and prosciutto pizza too!!
First time here and I will be back.
The atmosphere was a little noisy but suited the restaurant and was not overbearing.
Both food and service were great with a special mention for both the papadelle and the veal. (I saw some of the pizza on other tables & may try them next time)

In the heart of the famous Norton Street in Leichhardt you find the wonderful Italian Ristorante Pizzeria Bar - Moretti.What strikes you initially as you walk in is just how big this place is. There is an industrial feel to it as well. We were seated at the front just as you walk in. When facing the bar - to the right their is an area that caters for families and to the left of the bar their are stairs leading to a mezzanine level catering for couples. They have thought of everyone!
Beautiful restaurant located on Norton Street that is very popular with the locals. I visited Moretti when it was at its old location and i remember it being the most amazing Italian food ive ever had and many years on my opinion has not changed a bit. The customer service is special and the menu is proper serious Italian. I highly recommend the Spaghetti Allo scoglio and the Saltimbocca alla Romana!
On the one year anniversary of the opening of Moretti’s new site in Leichhardt, we sat down to a traditional Italian feast, ready to be amazed by some authentic cuisine! We wanted to try some lovely Italian wines to complement our meal, so based on our preferences, we were recommended a couple of wines, which we both enjoyed. I had the 2012 Marziano Abbona Tistin DOCG Arneis, from Piemonte in Italy. It was so sweet and light, which was exactly what I wanted.

Booked a table for 6 people for a Friday evening at 6.30pm. We had gotten a table all set up on arrival and seated straight away. We had ordered entrees; garlic bread, bruschetta, eggplant parmigiana, salt and pepper squid, rocket and pear salad, roast potatoes, and polenta fries. All our entrees came out pretty quick and all fresh and hot. We ordered mains and entrees together so the wait time wasn't as long as advised by the waiter, who was very patient while we all yelled out our orders.
Our mains came out 20 min after our entrees! For mains we had ordered 5 pizzas which were all very flavoursome and the bases were perfect. We also orders 3 pasta dishes which were; spaghetti gnocchi, seafood marinara, and a white sauce seafood pasta.
Everything was very good they were very generous when we asked for chilli oil and Parmesan. And not that we needed any but lots and lots of bread to accompany all dishes.
The waiters were very responsive and very helpful, cleaning up the tables as we ate. All staff were very friendly from the greeting till we left.
Worth a visit but make sure to book a table as it did get busy while we were there. Will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed my meal at Moretti.. Home style, fresh and simple Italian food at its best! Had a range of appetisers including the meatballs in tomato sauce, bresaola w/rocket and parmigiano, bruschetta w/grilled eggplant and zucchini.. Great flavours and really tasty! Also had the Penne w/prawns, white wine, Napoletana sauce and a touch of cream which was delicious!! I love a simple pasta dish! All in all a really good Italian feed and worth a visit!!
Love this place! Very yummy pizzas and good service - there's also a parking lot nearby which is convenient. I've had the pepperoni pizza which was delicious and not too greasy.
A friend and I had such a pleasant experience here tonight. We decided to share meals and ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese and Contadina Pizza. I have the say the Gnocchi was definitely the stand out of the night. The homemade potato was perfect and the bolognese had a perfect flavour. A 10/10 dish. The Contadina was also great but not quite as great as the Gnocchi. For dessert, I had the vanilla gelato in a waffle basket, topped with strawberries, kiwi fruit, whipped cream and a berry compote. I don't think I had the opportunity to enjoy this dish as much (I couldn't even finish it) as I was so full from dinner. The berry compote was a little too sour for my liking (more sour than usual). The service here was immaculate. We did not have to wait long for our food at all and the waiters and waitresses were all very friendly. Overall, a great night.
Huge servings and friendly waiters. Very family friendly - toddler was handed a little kids pack (crayons, stickers, papers) on entry. Their spaghetti al scoglio is delicious (spaghetti with prawn clams and mussels) and their pizza very tasty. Great family local will be back.
One of the best restaurants I've eaten in. Awesome, fresh produce, passionate and knowledgable staff. These guys are real professionals. The atmosphere is of an authentic, classy Italian eatery.
My best friend and I actually stumbled upon Caffe Moretti by accident, and until I saw the giant woodfire oven near the entrance, I didn't realise this was one of the restaurants featured in the Italian Restaurant challenge in Series 2 of Masterchef. Naturally I got heaps excited =P.

- returned two years later and service is up to standard! Pasta is delicious, I recommend the spinach ravioli which is always a hit, and I recently had the duck truffle gnocchi which was so so tasty I loved it. This place has definitely improved.
SYDNEY'S BEST ITALIAN. I have been to Caffe Moretti with my partner about 5 times and every time we've been we have been wowed by warm, efficient service - devine food and great value for money. The ambiance is always beautiful. the walls are adorned with vintage Italian posters and the lighting is romantic. We are happy to call Caffe Moretti our favourite Italian restaurant in Sydney, and we have eaten a lot of italian.
Good Italian Fare. I go to Moretti regularly in both small and large groups. The service is good, the food is hearty and tasty and doesn't try too hard. The Italian staff are friendly and fun and I am particularly grateful for the kindness they showed my elderly mother, who has problems eating since having a stroke. The pizza is excellent, and is cooked in a wood-fire stove. Dishes to recommend are any of the pizzas and pastas, and the lemon veal.
Great homemade ravioli and antipasto. The panna cotta was lovely as well. Ill definitely be back
Love the homemade gnocchi here! Good pizza too, the base is very good. If you have room, try their Nutella pizza for dessert , superb!
Warmed up on a cold night. I came across Moretti with a friend on a cold wintery night, but I was immediately warmed up by the friendly welcome at the door. The place is quite simple, but warm and appealing. We treated ourselves to a nice bottle of Montepulciano and 2 perfectly cooked pizza's. Mine was the trastevere (potato and sausage) and my friend had the Oscar( Mascarpone and prosciutto). Not much to fault here. Fast efficient and very friendly service. I had a good laugh with their charismatic waiters. Will be back to try more of their menu
Loud inside with indistinguishable music playing in the background ((turn it off so we can hear conversation). Very ordinary, seafood risotto had canned miniature prawns, opaque uncooked fish and soaking wet rice, it appeared re heated! Obviously no chefs here (a real chef would not let it out the door). Go elsewhere or have a child cook for you at home it will be much nicer.

Best pizza in Sydney. I'm pretty much addicted to the excellent pizza they have at Caffe Moretti. Their woodfire pizza is quite likely the best in Sydney. Highly recommended! Also, the service is impecable, but don't expect the service of a high class restaurant.
Our Norton Street favourite since it opened over 10 years ago. Traditional Honest Italian pasta and pizza the way it's meant to be. The steadily escalating prices are the change (and not a welcome one!)
