Review Lower Plenty Hotel - Lower Plenty

Toby Gall
Food was ok at best. What you would expect from an RSL. Almost no vege options though. Good for families with kids as there's a play centre attached to the dining area.

Very loud and a lot of kids running around in the bistro from 6PM-8PM. Good if you have young ones, but wouldn’t recommend going if you just want a meal with some mates. Food was mediocre - a bit dry but not the worst I’ve had. Good for the terrace bar and pokies.

Food and staff always nice but it's still one of the few places where you cop unfiltered cigarette smoke as you walk in and again on the beautiful decking outside while you eat which negates the fresh air feel and great view. A great venue for smokers which keeps us away more than it should.

Always enjoy gathering here for a quick catch up. The negative being that they always "chase" you out early. We were there for my son's schools parents introductions and they were already telling us it's closing at 915pm in the restaurant area

We had my son Jayson's Ist Anniversary Memorial function at the Lower Plenty Hotel because it was my son's favourite place to meet up with family and friends. Manager Jack booked and organised the function with me and he was very informative, experienced and patient. We were in the River Bridge Room which also had access to a private bar and the outdoor terrace. We had about 60 people and it felt roomy especially because we had the choice to go outside (great for these Covid conditions). My guest were very well looked after by super friendly staff. D was the wonderful manager on the day and all the wait and bar staff were polite and helpful. The food was perfect and as a real foodie and cook myself I had no need to worry. The chef is professional and experienced with large functions. His advice on menu choices and quantity was spot on, otherwise I would have spent a lot more money on food and it would have gone to waste. I will be definitely be doing more functions here in the future. It was just so easy. So a big huge THANK YOU to Jack, D and the crew at the Lower You're all doing a great job and I will be back.

26$ for a tip top burger bun ,a precooked and burned beef patty and soggy fries .what a shame . At least boys enjoyed at the playground.

Surroundings are lovely but the food has always been very average. I wouldn’t go there by choice but the last time we went was for my neices birthday lunch and my husband bought a chicken Parma (as you do) and had an upset stomach soon after his meal followed by a night of diarrhoea and vomiting. Yep. Refuse to go there after that. At least until new management or a new chef come in and clean it up.

First visit food was great and the play area great for kids. Went a week ago and food was terrible. I had a roast the meat was so fatty I sent it back and refused another instead opting to not eat and got a refund. Will not be returning for a while.

So disappointing. We came and had dinner at your venue on Thursday evening. We were a table of 5. I had the Roast Beef... I love a good Roast Beef. I don’t even know what your meat was??!? It was horrible appeared to be like a processed & compressed sausage. I didn’t eat it at all, and your staff didn’t care nor enquire why my plate was untouched when they cleared our table. Next issue, the Parma that was ordered had a big long blonde hair in it. It was served to a male who had short hair and as the only female at the table, I have red hair so it wasn’t mine either, so gross! One of our glasses of coke had pink lipstick all over the glass. Bad bad, again it was served to a male so clearly wasn’t his. On top of this, the service was bad. The wait staff were rude & rushed us to order our food and to clear the table. In summary, very bad food and bad service. Don’t go people!!! Find somewhere else to spend your money.

Love the food, have never had a bad meal and the kids play area is fantiastic! We have a large family gathering every time we go, the staff are great and very friendly. I would normally give this a 5 star rating, however unfortunately more than half the tables meals were forgotten and they had to wait over an hour to eat after the rest of us had finished. Otherwise love this place.

I attended the event ‘Whiskies of the World’ Run by the management of the LPH and had the best night. It was Whiskey tasting matched with beautiful food and the host ‘Brendan, certainly knew his stuff. The value was definitely well worth it and I would definitely do it again in the future and would recommend to anyone, not just Whiskey lovers. Well done LPH!

The food is pretty terrible, even the calamari was bad (burnt), schnitzel was average veggies flavourless. Even the bread/dinner rolls, $1.20 each, stale and thrown into the microwave to pass them off as fresh? Only saving grace is the play area, but with food that bad we won't be back for another few years. Was good 5 years ago, or so, but they just can't see to make decent meals anymore.
Julie Oates
I love going to the LPH. It is my favourite pub for a meal. I have the salt and pepper calamari and it is excellent value for money. The calamari is always cooked to perfection. Big meals for great prices.

Excellent outdoor area with big screen to watch sports, specially in summer. You have to wait a little bit...busy place. Food is excellent and serving size big enough.overall great place for lunch and beer.

A BIG thank you to Paul Micheal and staff for their help and understanding after a booking error was made. Great venue for families & larger groups. Highly recommend

I only come here every few years in the hope the food has improved. Ordered the Parma as I figured it’s always a safe bet. I was wrong. It was quite flavourless and soggy underneath. Pulled pork sandwich was dry and had hard bits that could break a tooth. Lady who greeted us and showed us to the table was rude and not very friendly at all. Which was a bad first impression as the other staff were lovely.

Food was great but need to improve on keeping happy customers! Couldn't accomodate 2 families inside so we happily sat outside enjoyed drinks then dinner only to be told our children couldn't play in the play area as we were not eating in the bistro area even though we brought full meals for 9 people???? Disappointing as this is our local! The staff may need to all be on the same page with the rules and bistro manager needs a lesson in customer service.
Jessica Campbell
Was good only thing was they forgot the garlic bread and served main meal first and we were wondering what happened to our bread? Lol other than that the male waiter was really nice and apologetic and didn't make it so bad! So kudos to awesome staff

Brought a party of 18 to this venue this evening only to be treated like criminals because 4 of our guests didn’t arrive. 18 is better than none but we will take our future business elsewhere. Left feeling disappointed.

We have been for a Saturday lunch & Tuesday dinner, overall I would rate the LP at no more than 3 & that's pushing it. I have read some of the reviews and I have to agree generally the food s overpriced & some of the staff need trainng in how to deal with their customers, we afterall giving you a job by virtue of going to the venue. Being an "oldie" as I am, I remember the days of the LP of the 70's & 80's and this is not a patch on that. As I said, a 3 & that's pushing it.

Just returning the favour. Your staff thing they can trash other peoples small business. Well qudos to you

It's been a few years since we've been to the Lower Plenty Hotel and it's much better than it used to be. The newly refurbished bistro is looking great and the food is great too.
Donna Lee
Years since I last visited, heard new renovations so beautiful, staff very attentive and all in uniform. Food served all at the same time, ambience good and very quiet, no loud music. Plenty of staff on board and very helpful. One complaint - asked for bottled coke, not available only coke zero on tap, which is syrup and watered down. Yet beer on tap is good quality. Wish all pubs would supply the option, happy to pay for better quality. Otherwise, all was great, will visit again

Helpful and professional staff, good meal deal (Sunday roast); may come back to watch a match or movie on the big screen :)

Wouldn't go there again ordered a medium rare steak it come out dry and over cooked The fries looked good but not cooked through and tasted like a freezer
Vicky Booth
Always great at this hotel. Had an issue and staff rectified it with a smile. Would highly recommend.

Went to the famous lower plenty hotel last Wednesday Lookin for something to do and eat I had a beautiful steak and veggies and my friend had the sliders. All was great with fantastic service from the nice bar peeps After dinner we relaxed in the bar where we listened to Rhett play at his open mic job It was a fun nite and good to see some people getting up and having a sing or play an instrument Keep up the live music. It’s a way out for lots of people and we don’t want to loose it
Kenneth O'shea
Nice food and good playground. Beers are cold and staff are very helpful.

Delicious food. Friendly staff. A nice place to eat

Always a great night for a meal and a cold drink! 🖒🖒

Love the lower plenty. I go the parma with chips colslaw and side of gravy every time. Friendly staff and meals allways come out quick as. I love the sticky wings for entree and get me parma for main. Just let you know its a great restaurant and very entertaining for our daughter in the kids play area. Keep up the awesome work. Thanks dubbie

Play area is great but food is terrible. Some staff need to work on their manners.

Had an entree size meal for my main and it was a huge serve. Food was nice. Very busy. Lots of families and millions of kids. Will return again.

Worst pub ever bouncer think they run the joint lol

Being Saturday night, it was understandably full of people and noisy - many families brought their children with them. Nevertheless, the grilled whole flounder both of us had was delicious and well presented. The service was excellent and the large dining area nicely maintained. I attempted to post a short video clip of our dinner but I was not successful. It might have succeeded in uploading into the Messenger part of the hotel's website.

It's a nice venue but our visit today left a sour taste. Very disappointed at the Lower Plenty Hotel if you hope to use a voucher from the Entertainment book. They will not honour the 1-for-1 deal if you eat OUTSIDE supporting the provided music entertainment. You MUST eat in the bistro inside - NO sign telling us that this is the case - on arrival we were told we could sit anywhere we like - find out when we pay - for food & drinks - at the end, that voucher will not be honoured because we ate in the OUTDOOR area! NOT satisfied with the duty manager, Paul's attempts to EXPLAIN why - "it's in the fine print & anyone with birthday vouchers etc MUST eat in the bistro " A nice place to spend the afternoon but there are plenty of other places just as nice that will honour the Entertainment book deal. I wouldn't visit there to eat again - not until there are signs explaining the way they operate. Apparently we weren't the first to encounter this today! We went there in good faith, so be careful people!

Well being New Year's Day a few of us decided to meet at this much loved watering hole to watch the big bash Melbourne derby. As we arrived to watch the first rock old mate informs us that we're crap out of luck and we will only be able to watch half a game and they're closing 8. #snakeylyfe #disgruntled

Awesome venue, delicious food and great atmosphere. Duo performing on Sunday night were amazing! Will definitely come back to see them perform and enjoy a lovely meal.

Food is great especially the moroccan chicken salad, I can’t wait to come back for another meal here it’s always a good place to meet friends and family

Great place for kids to play. Food is overpriced and underwhelming though. Decor is modern and spacious. Staff are lovely and very accommodating.

We've been to the Lower many times over the years, and although we stopped going a while back because it had gone downhill, we have recently given it another chance and this last week was our best pub experience in the area in a long time.  Staff were super friendly and helpful, food came quickly and the scotch fillet was great.  We had a kid's birthday there so brought our own cake and the venue couldn't have been more accommodating, happily storing it for us and bringing plates and spoons when we needed them.  Looking forward to our next visit.

Regular friendly greeting by Jenny for Sat lunch , Spoilt by Kate who insisted booking for booth was not available as booths were all booked. . Disappointed that when finished eating we observed all booths remained empty.  Debbie the manager offered no apology. Rahul and Ro very obliging. Meals prompt service and excellent quality as always.<br/><br/>Phillip and Cherie Holmes.

Terrance bar in the lower plenty hotel at Viewbank. It is a hidden gem with nice Terrance bar serving great fresh beer and good wines. Cheese and salami platter is a must order with the drinks. Good environment during the dinner and evening time.

We decided to give LPH another go as we had not been since the renovations and our last visit was less than satisfactory. Hoping for a good experience we were again extremely disappointed.<br/>I specifically asked to be seated away from the play area and was sat next to a child’s birthday party table. On asking if we could have a quieter table as there were quiet a few near the entrance, I was told they were fully booked and could not accomodate my request. I mentioned the vacant tables at the front and was offered a small table that would not have been appropriate. When ordering our meals, the female staff was less than friendly, second mistake. The meals were very low quality, and uninspiring. My salmon fillet salad was not what I expected. A thin piece of fish that was tasteless and over cooked sitting on a bed of limp cos lettuce leaves with scattered tomatoes and not much else. There was no dressing to speak of and the salmon also had nothing to enhance the flavour. A very overpriced, badly cooked and presented meal. The other guests were equally unimpressed and we all agreed that it was a bad decision to eat there and we will not return. On reading other reviews here, I am amazed that management haven’t woken up to the fact that you are overpriced, serving sub-standard food and your hospitality skills sadly lacking. I will not recommend this place to anyone in fact I will be recommending friends go anywhere but here.

Here's to the venue ...<br/><br/>A+++ for the venue, modern contemporary, it won 2017 redevelopment award ... well deserved.<br/><br/>It comes with plenty of parking for the Pokies and Diner patrons.<br/><br/>Good service, mostly self-service ... only to show your table and bring out food.<br/><br/>Food wise, expensive ... $22.00 for Roast of the Day, $23.00 for a humongous Fish & Chips and $28.00 for the Jambalaya, average looking.<br/><br/>The place to go if you like a good Pokies dining venue. JT-14/04/2018.

The only good thing about this place is the kids playground.<br/>The food is terrible, but at least comes out quickly.<br/>Ordered the pork belly ribs tonight and it was all fat, barely a slither of meat on each piece. Inedible, left the whole thing on the plate. Advised staff of feedback, with no outcome.<br/>Also ordered the chocolate & nutella pudding, just tasted like raw runny chocolate cake mix.

I was very disappointed in the service. We booked a table for 20 and had to give a deposit of $50 for that size booking. If we didn’t get 20 people they would keep the $20. We purchased 17 main meals so were told that they wouldn’t refund the $50 as we didn’t reach the booking number. We had all had drinks in the bar and had offered to buy deserts but the refund was still not given as it applies to the number of main meals ordered not number of people. The restaurant wasn’t even half full so They hadn’t turned away business to accommodate our booking. To me this policy needs to be reviewed as it made us all feel very unwelcome and none of us plan to return to the lower plenty hotel.<br/>I ordered the salt and pepper calamari which was bland, served with supermarket coleslaw and was a pretty small portion for $24. <br/>It’s such a shame because this venue has so much potential, I can see people getting fed up with the rudeness and going elsewhere.

Had my 21st birthday at one of the function rooms here. The room and food was great, as well as the lovely bar staff. <br/><br/>However, the functions coordinator definitely made the experience not only less exciting, but uncomfortable. She was rude, blunt and dismissive, and unwilling to cater for small requests. Speaking as someone who works in hospitality, it’s disappointing to spend thousands on one of your function rooms without even getting as little as a smile in return. Do not work in hospitality if you are not a “people person”.
Jess
I LOVE food, including pub food, but NOT this pub/hotel whatever they want to call it<br/>Most horrible quality food around this area! The look, the taste, the freshness, everything about it is awful. <br/><br/>It's a shame because the staff and place itself are so lovely!

I tried the Lower again last night and won't be back. It was packed, the staff were friendly and efficient but the food is just gross. It's all brown, nothing fresh and green in sight. I had the calamari, which was really fresh and tender but pretty much deep fried although it wasn't meant to be. I asked for dressing on the side but out came the side of coleslaw which had been scooped from a bucket, covered in cheap dressing. Honestly it was horrid stuff, worse than KFC. I made the mistake of trying to eat it and it made me feel sick. The chips are also terrible, so prefab and from a bag. The Parma was the same. This is true low quality, fat American type food unfortunately.
NozJac
Look, the play area is great but everything else is just so below average. The food is really uninspiring, the staff are disinterested, the set up is very cluttered. Lots of big family celebrations, which I get, it's easy. But really, there are better options around.
Good Food Good Mood
Found myself at this pub for dinner with a friend as she knew someone that worked here. At places like this I always find it best to order a parma as a safe bet and I think I made the right call. A satisfying serve of cheese topped chicken schnitty was well executed. There were a couple of more exotic options available on the menu but I’ve been burned before by thinking it’s a good idea to order Asian inspired dishes at pubs. We sat outside but the inside was actually very modern and stylish for a bistro with a lovely atmosphere. I believe it’s had a renovation since I was last there a good decade ago for drinks. A pretty decent option if you live nearby

Looks nice and inviting but.....<br/>Meals are over priced, we ordered the fish and chips and the nachos with milkshakes for drinks<br/>The Milkshakes come in jars😡.....@<br/>6.50 for milkshakes, I expect huge glasses, the shakes just taste like milk with ice cream.<br/>The nachos are yuk, soggy, tasteless with Coles dips as sides...<br/>The fish and chips are bland with a serving of coleslaw and chips....for 23.00 they are mini servings....the fish is tasteless and I could count the amount of chips on two hands...exactly 8....<br/>Don't bother with this place, I've eaten at better bistros

I rate the lower for simple pub meals and the new renovations are fantastic. Went to try it out the other night and ordered a risotto. What came out was literally the worst meal I've ever seen. I think they used the wrong rice or something because it came out like a soup and the rice wasn't cooked. I asked if that was normal and the most delightful waitress took it back for me. They sent it back out with another waitress who said "chef said it isn't as creamy as other risottos because they don't use cream". Erm. Of course everyone knows it isn't cream that creates risotto consistency. Understandable that they were busy but if you can't cook it take it off the menu it was horrendous and not even close to a risotto. Won't be back.

Used to come to the pub all the time to get the porterhouse and it was amazing however the in the last two weeks i've had it twice and the meat has been terrible! Not as good quality, unsure what's going on but I won't be coming back.

Lovely new play area for kids and the bar area and patio are nice and fresh. Food has never been a problem-still good. The attitude towards mums with prams is not great though, every time I go, I'm made to feel like an inconvenience asking for space to move through or for 2 highchairs (twins). I also walk there and there is no ramp up to the pub but about 20steps at the front which I lug my double wide up.<br/>I feel if you build a kids play area-why not be more accommodating for the clientele you are wanting to bring in-make an aisle for prams to move through, let mums sit near the play area to watch their kids. Open up earlier for morning tea as mums come in based on their kids nap times not really on when lunch time is, this way-you can compete for more mums who are going to cafes and it won't interfere with the rsl crowd.
Tasos Koukoumas
Meals were good, over priced pub food. Service good but for a Sunday felt like we were being rushed so they can close. Kids had fun in the play area.

Went here for lunch recently, the menu wasn't very lengthy, and a lot of the dishes had prawns in them, so if you don't like prawns your choices are limited, but the food was good.  I ordered chicken scallopini and hubby ordered a lamb shoulder risotto that was gluten free.  Quite enjoyable, although probably at the upper end of pricing for a bistro type meal.

We weren't at fault at all yet your duty manager Paul chose to blame us for not knowing the "rules" and was more interested in finding out the young staff members involved so he could put them right. I mentioned we had driven from the other side of town to come to the hotel to which he replied" that's only about 25 minutes away". He certainly didn't win any points with his blatant lack of concern and failure to amicably resolve the matter. As Management what are YOU going to do about this matter and many other issues/complaints raised via these reviews.<br/>
Tamara Peterson
Great kids area and better since the renovations. The negatives are prices... How expensive ot is to eat here min $40 for steak and was unhappy when Bruschetta has changed to seafood and mushrooms. I think they should have normal Bruschetta as a option not just the trio. I too find some stuff can be quite short and rude.
Lisa Triegaardt
The worst lunch and rude staff...<br/><br/>So we were a group of over 15 people all drinking and eating for a birthday.<br/><br/>As we go to order our food selecting the gluten and dairy free options that is listed and advertised online for the bistro. Explaining this to the staff that it was for allergy reasons and quite serious.<br/><br/>After attempting to order a simple fish and chips order that is on the menu as a gluten free option, the "manager" found it quite difficult to comprehend that we required gluten free and to remove the coleslaw because of the dairy and if we could please have a garden salad without dressing and no tomato. They would not swap out the salad for the coleslaw and wanted to charge us. Finally after having too much we just decided to just get gluten free chips, vegetables and a salad (no tomato, no dressing and no goats cheese). After waiting we received the chips and vegetables... after waiting again, we did not receive the salad... finally we get up to ask for it... comes out with everything we didn't order and covered in dressing... once again we get up and finally the second salad arrived with tomato goats cheese and dressing on the side... we just ate it picked out the tomato only to get to the bottom to find bugs attached to the lettuce that had clearly not being washed. We take it back to the "manager" she says she will come out in a second. Coming out with the receipt saying to us oh you didn't say gluten free salad or dairy free... we look at the receipt only to point out to her on the receipt she charged over to prove the consternation wrong that it is clearly indicated in BOLD gluten and dairy free... no apology she stomps off again only to return moments later saying that there was just oil on the salad dressing nothing else and basically we are wrong... followed by oh well you're sitting outside that's the bug... even though it was dead stuck to the lettuce at the bottom of the salad...<br/>She was so rude, unprofessional and aggressive in what ever she was trying to achieve. Her goal was to prove us wrong even though we were all right instead of providing basic customer service that would have resolved this issue.<br/><br/>This was disgusting to have to deal with on my mother in laws birthday. I will never ever come back and tell as many people as I can because for the pricing of the menu you should have good food and actually staff capable of working in hospitality with basic customer service skills especially for such a lovely looking place, it's an absolute waste and shame.<br/><br/>Also I've attached a photo of the salad that we were told was "plain bran oil"... as you can see it's clearly not.

Wowie all I can say is what a transformation and a must for anyone living in the area. I order the southern fried chicken burger, the crispy chicken was Devine and complemented extremely well by the aioli and fresh salad. Have no negatives about the dish will definitely be back.

This is the last time we are coming here. Yeah, my kids will miss the newly finished play area but I won't miss the shit service, way substandard food (for the price!) ... I won't miss the decreasing size of the menu. Good luck guys, eventually you're going to need it.
Dimzib
Decent staff and atmosphere, however the food was of shockingly bad quality. Eating at this place brought me back to fifth grade camp where packaged gravy and chips were served with aged vegetables and meat without texture. Will definitely not be returning.

This was my first visit to the Lower since the recent refurbishment of the main bistro. It's been refreshed with new timber tables, sleeker seating and modern lighting (goodbye 90s red leather booths!) -  definitely an upgrade from the traditional 'pub' setting and feels fresh. The menu has been updated, as fitting with the new surrounds but admit I was relieved to see some of my old favourites still listed.  We ate the half serve of calamari (despite the name, is still a generous serve), which came with thick-cut fries and a side of slaw. Calamari is my go-to pub dish, and while this was a solid offering, it was a bit of the tough side tonight and have to admit that I prefer the Montmorency RSL version. Also ordered the pub classic, roast of the day (pork), which was served with potato, pumpkin and zucchini - good offering but pity there was no crackle though. The hero of our meal was definitely the pulled pork sandwich, paired with slaw and the signature LPH bad boy fries. Pork filling with generous, juicy and well-balanced by the creamy coleslaw. Would definitely order again! As always, service was efficient, despite being there on a busy weeknight and overall, the Lower Plenty Hotel provides good, bistro food at a reasonable price. The terrace is currently closed for renovation, but no doubt will be amazing an amazing space come summertime.

Came here for a work gathering. The place is recently renovated with a huge children's playground which is great for families with kids. A good selection on the menu for a pub and the food tasted decent.
Katie Louise
Standard pub fare. We had the roast of the day and a Parma. Well priced meals and efficient service. Pretty busy when we were there but meals came out quickly. Would go back again.
Food Expert Puru
A cozy bistro located in the greens of Montmorency. Lunch was good especially the chicken parma. Dining area inside has comfy seating. Outdoor dining perhaps can be improved as you could get wet when it rains.

As a fellow manager at a nearby pub, I respect that on a public holiday that prices do increase. This however was not my problem. <br/>My family and I ordered 5x chicken parmas to our table. We paid $26 each to be served what I would serve as a children's size meal. <br/>I expect the prices to increase of course, but I don't expect the meal size to DECREASE. <br/>As we mentioned this to the waitress, she asked if we wanted to change our meal, however the another waiter walked over and rudely said "because it was a public holiday, the prices increase" I explained this wasn't out issue, we were disappointed in the size of our meals. He then turned his back on us, still arguing us and walked away.<br/>I did not expect this situation to be dealt with this way, or to be spoken down to.<br/>We also got given the wrong of soft drink to then wait 15 minutes for another jug of coke. <br/>This customer service is absolutely disgusting and if my staff were to ever treat a customer this way I would be very unimpressed.<br/>This has spoiled our experience of visiting the lower plenty hotel, and will reconsider to ever come back.

Dropped in here as a last minute thought on the way back from the airport. I was guided by Google as closest pub and it rated it 4 out of 5. I laughed when we arrived and checked in on this app and saw it rated a 2.2? Typical pub setting, very busy, which is always a good sign, excellent service, seated promptly and got a nice cold beer....... Of course. Good menu selection, stand in line to order, standard pub practice, but the girls taking the orders were very efficient, so didn't have to wait long. Meal was served to our table quicker than I expected given how busy it was. I had eye fillet well done and my wife had a salmon steak. Both meals could not be faulted, the steak was tender, perfectly cooked and juicy, as was the salmon. We were very impressed, price was good for the quality of the food and would definitely return. 2.2, I don't agree, it is a pub, not a five star restaurant!

I'm not sold on this place.I ordered Nachos and actually i really loved them and i quite enjoyed the coriander and shoots that they came with.I think this place really needs to look into portion control however. When my risotto came out there was so much of it and i only got through half before i'd had enough. I also burnt my mouth on it it was so hot lol.The risotto wasn't bad but it was greatly improved by the salt i added to get some more taste happening. Their Parma however is not good that's all i have to say.
Mumma Bear And Baby Bear.
I've been here once- about a fortnight ago, that's enough for me. I live just around the corner, I'd prefer the service at a fast food outlet honestly.<br/>The food was ok, but the customer service was horrific! The ladies were really rude and made me want to leave, it was purely because my brother had already ordered his dinner that I stayed. <br/> <br/>The bistro has glorified pub meals that are way over priced. <br/>

Used entertainment book buy one get one free voucher, ordered lunch special. Good value with voucher, cheaper than eating at food court. Roost pork gravy was a bit on the salty side. Rump steak was cook to almost perfection, big chips are fluffy.
Melbourne1708
Disappointing meal. So the Chefs Special was Reef & Beef T Bone - seriously I have had thicker schnitzels than this T Bone - 5 mm. Also wasn't cooked to my liking medium rare. Impossible to cook a 5mm steak medium rare anyway.<br/>So you might say why didn't you send it back?<br/>Simply I wasn't going to get back in a line where 27 (I counted them) people were waiting to place their orders.<br/>Won't be going back.

Fried vegies???. Honestly who deep fries there vegies & calls it a dinner...?<br/>Not the greatest steak either! Probably settle for a big mac from down the road next time im close by.

Couldn't pay for a smile if you tried. All we wanted was a decent pub meal with our grandmother. <br/>Firstly, the staff were extremely rude and impatient. Service with a smile never hurt anyone.<br/>Asked two different staff members for a plate so we could share our meal - we left still waiting for that plate.<br/>Will not bother with coming here again. The place has a lot of potential but unfortunately needs a LOT of work from the kitchen to the floor.

Terrible. This is the second time I've had dinner & both times I've been disappointed. I ordered a medium-rare steak that came out more then well done. The vegetables on the side were covered in a mustard sauce & were not fresh. We brought a cake with us (& sparklers) & snuck it in without the birthday boy seeing it. When we said we were ready for cake, they just brought the container out & the box of sparklers. Talk about a mood kill. Will go back for a beer on the deck, but that's about it....

Over priced!!! Small meal sizes!!!! They charge $1 for a bread roll with a meal.

If you love MEDIOCRE food & unprofessional Manager - dine here!. I've been there three times before.<br/>I myself work in retail, customer service and understand how reviewing works. I feel 100% justified in my review.<br/>Tonight was a fabulous example of the poor customer service.<br/>Steaks were mixed up, raw/medium etc and we decided to eat them without complaint.<br/>Raw onion rings, gently and kindly told a server they were raw, we were happy to have them re made, and thanked very much. She said she would check with the manager what could be done.<br/>20 minutes later. Manager walks up, no hi, hello, the first worlds he says "Here is your (money) *** bucks back".<br/>I said, oh that's no trouble, we were happy to have them remade. Slams the coins in front of my plate and He walks off, saying nothing.<br/>This is the manager!! Lol<br/>pathetic on every level. They charge the same as a good restaurant, the service and food should be the same. Food was mediocre at best. Just speaks of the of class people that work there and their standards --- we were very easygoing in the mix ups. Crap all around with every visit and will surely fall on deaf ears.

Getting worse. Pork medallions were overcooked and dry. Accompanying sauce was lukewarm when served and was sent back to the kitchen. Second time around the sauce was at an acceptable heat. I haven't been there for quite a while and was surprised that bread rolls were no longer free but could be purchased for $1.00

Terrible Thai beef salad, worst I have had, beef was pre cooked and stone cold, no coriander as mentioned in the menu, not seasoned, dressing tasted like vinegar, a heap of salt and pepper could not fix this dish!

DONT GO!!!!!!. The chef should go. My 8 year old ....no my 2year old can cook better. Kids meals sloppy disgrace kids would not eat it. Chicken special of some sort was horrible, calamari you could get a softer cricket ball all in all never go again. And another family a week later we heard of had the same report food and service was TERRIBLE!!! Suggestion to owners start from scratch and check references and chef qualifications!!! So harsh but true.

No!. Sorry excuse for a parma. If they charged $5 for it i'd have to consider it.

Very very average. Been here three times and each time can never finish. Lamb was cooked so raw it wasn't tender and blood was oozing out which was a huge turnoff. Expensive for such poor quality food.

I had the chicken scallopini, it was delicious! It usually comes with chunky potato chips and salad or vegies, as I'm allergic to potato I asked to swap the chips to rice and have vegies.. I was told I could have rice but I'd have to pay $4.50 for vegies, which I didn't understand as that usually comes with the meal so I was a little frustrated! Overall a really yummy meal just a bit disappointing they couldn't be more accommodating!

Loved it. We go there quite often with our children for the kids eat free on Friday nights. Food is always good, with plenty on the plate. A good sized play room allows us to enjoy our meal while the kids have a bit of fun. With all the negativity surrounding children in venues at the moment, this is one place that really is FAMILY FRIENDLY. In particular a couple of the more mature staff who always seen to be there when we go in, go out of their way to make us feel very welcome. We always enjoy our nights out at '' The Lower''

Salad with slime?. Promised;<br/>Carrot, zucchini, cucumber, beans and avocado tossed with salad leaves, walnuts and a red wine vinegarette<br/><br/>Received.<br/>Chunky pieces of carrot (the cheap large varieties with a nice woody centre- best used in soups that are going to cook for several hours). 1 small cube of avocado (yes, i know avocado is the most expensive component) and...a nice piece of lettuce which had turned slimy.<br/><br/>$17.00 worth of pig food.

Only Just... Went to LPH on Saturday night, husband ordered Roast Pork, it was tough and inedible returned an ordered Schnitel(chicken) was acceptable but meal served with 1large piece of pumpkin &1 large piece of broccollli (doesnt the chefs want to cut up vegtables) and gravy, i had calamari (ok), kids had burger(tasty) and fish and chips (frozen kind fried up). The chips are the only redeeming thing that saved our meals. Restuarant meals are not cheap and we went because we had voucher, expect to pay up to $28 dollars for a main. Although not one to complain about quick service, I felt out meals came out just that little too quickly, obviously alot of what you get is prepared in advance. Venue was very busy, but there are not too many places to go with a play area for the kids, spent more time in playarea than at the table enjoying our meals.

Went there with the wife and kids for lunch. On the plus side they have a kids room and the meals were quick. On the down side, I ordered the chicken tenders meal for the kids and it was tough, over fried rubbish. The wife and I had chicken Parma and they were ordinary. The topping was nice but the chicken was thin and tough. Vegetables with the dishes were under cooked as well. We shall not be going back anytime soon.
