the best place to have dinner, prices are worth the food !! masallah amazingg
Never eaten so much quality good food for $50 per person... this restaurant is a must for Turkish food lovers..highly recommended to all.
Nicosia is a Cyprian restaurant with an abundant menu serving up traditional Turkish dishes on Glenferrie Rd, Malvern. The owners are welcoming and the interior is authentic and culturally reflective.
Halal Snack Pack - I ordered this dish with half chips, half potato wedges and only chicken for the meat. Whilst it was appetising, the abundance of meat and intensity of the flavours of the sauces was ultimately too overwhelming. The potato wedges (on their own) are absolutely delicious and are the perfect mixture of crispy and salty goodness - would highly recommend.
Overall, would recommend this restaurant for an easy, satisfying and no-frills takeaway option (I am still yet to dine-in) if you enjoy heavily flavoured Middle Eastern food, generous servings and value for money.
Takeaway from Nicosia today and one seriously large meat tub that literally could have fed an army. The dips weren’t my favourite but the traditional Turkish pides were a hit and I was a big fan of the chicken doner (lamb was a bit on the dry side).
Original review
Nice atmosphere but quite chilly inside. I was loving the decor with traditional little touches and beautiful framed photos of the namesake town. It made me want to jump right on a plane straight into European summer.
This desire was probably exacerbated by the unpleasant temperature in the restaurant. For some reason I'm finding that a lot this winter. Has the cost of gas gone up or something? Didn't seem to be bothering the other patrons as we were a full house albeit in a relatively small setting.
Continuing to embrace the friends with salad lifestyle I chose a grilled prawn salad and requested no onion. The salad was generous but unfortunately so was the infestation of onions. The prawns had a sensational char on them though and really delicious flavour. I was pretty delighted with my main although the dips were a little lacklustre and could have done with a bit more seasoning (carrot) and perhaps some garlic (babaganush).
We also had the iskender (meat covered in yoghurt and crushed tomato), lamb kebab, lamb kofte and a dinner plate (chicken and lamb with salad and dip) on the table. All presented quite well although opinions were mixed. I certainly enjoyed what I ate, it was very sizeable for a salad and my interest was piqued by an apple baklava. One to keep in mind on a non dieting return trip
Melbourne Culture Eats
+5
One half of Melbourne Culture Eats hails from a Cypriot Background! We were both in Cyprus in 2015 and returning next year!
We both know Cypriot food really well as this is something culturally I am very exposed too!
We have had several Turkish Friends just rave about this restaurant! When it’s your own cultural food you always can be the hardest critic!
Tonight we ordered...
🍴: Meat Vine Leaves Dolma
🍴: Mussaka
🍴: Chicken Breast
🍷: Anatolian Wine
$$ Standard Pricing
I would like to point out the atmosphere and decor of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful! It really took us back to our time in Kyrenia and all the Cypriot woven baskets! The photos reflecting the culture and the absolutely beautifully toned music.
The food was served quickly along with warm Turkish bread that was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside!
The food was absolutely outstanding from a Cypriots Perspective! The Dolma was just buzzing with flavour! I could really taste the fragrant all spice, the chicken was tender and full of moisture.
The side of vegetables home cooked and made with love.
The Mussaka was an absolute star!
Melbourne Culture Eats will be back to Nicosia!

We went their for iftar. Its Ramadan time now. They were serving a separate iftar platter which consisted of dates, cucumbers, cheese. Then we ordered sis yoghortlu and mixed kebab. The kebabs were really good. Really liked the ambiance.
Really recommended this place for great homestyle meals. Had the Nicosia Kofte, hot bean salad and turkish bread and felt like it had been cooked here at home, was fresh tasty and very generous portions, would definitely go back.
Best Kebabs in Melbourne! Bread, Meat and Salad all fresh. Been a customer for over 15 years and have never been disappointed. You guys really know how to cook food!!
Great hang out place in Glenferri road .... They had tasty in house bread and dips ... their desserts are a must try..! We loved the banana roll with ice cream
Loved the food here. Service was excellent. Enjoyed the atmosphere - did not feel like I was in Malvern. Ordered the banquet which was worth the price - had plenty of food.
The best baclava I've ever had in my life. They have the perfect texture and mixture of nuts. The staff is very kind and helpful. The owner of the restaurant is a funny man.
Pleasant staff, well priced, excellent salads and Turkish Mediterranean feel and tastes. Kofta was just as eaten in Istanbul and the lamb and chicken excellent.
