the best place to have dinner, prices are worth the food !! masallah amazingg
Never eaten so much quality good food for $50 per person... this restaurant is a must for Turkish food lovers..highly recommended to all.
Our fave Turkish Restaurant, we just wish you weren’t so far from us! But the drive is always worth it!!! Best Kebabs!!!
Omgosh i am so happily full ! My lamb Shish was melt in yr mouth delicious ! Wow !! Excellent choice coming here ! Highly recommend it !! Brilliant food Brilliant Service !! Thank you Nicosia x
Best Turkish on the planet! Always very fresh and the family who run the place are always very friendly. We have been going for many many years and still love it!
Absolutely superb on all levels! Brilliant food, everything was so fresh and tasty, excellent service and outstanding value for money. Highly recommended!
Beautiful food, fantastic service, friendly staff...one of the best restaurants i have been to
I was fortunate to attend a birthday party at Nicosia recently. The whole room was booked and decorated to celebrate. Service was polite and quick. Food was fresh and tasty. Little extras, like refreshed bucket of ice and water for each table was appreciated. Such an enjoyable evening, so highly recommended.
Love the chicken lunch/dinner pack...excellent services. First in here more than 15years ago...still the best.

I really like Nicosia. You make the best kebabs and pides in Melbourne in my opinion. Great service and home delivery. Highly recommended to anyone who likes Kebabs.
Cok guzel ve lezzetli doner, lahmacun ve tatlilar icin tesekkur ederiz.

Nicosia is a Cyprian restaurant with an abundant menu serving up traditional Turkish dishes on Glenferrie Rd, Malvern. The owners are welcoming and the interior is authentic and culturally reflective.
Halal Snack Pack - I ordered this dish with half chips, half potato wedges and only chicken for the meat. Whilst it was appetising, the abundance of meat and intensity of the flavours of the sauces was ultimately too overwhelming. The potato wedges (on their own) are absolutely delicious and are the perfect mixture of crispy and salty goodness - would highly recommend.
Overall, would recommend this restaurant for an easy, satisfying and no-frills takeaway option (I am still yet to dine-in) if you enjoy heavily flavoured Middle Eastern food, generous servings and value for money.
Takeaway from Nicosia today and one seriously large meat tub that literally could have fed an army. The dips weren’t my favourite but the traditional Turkish pides were a hit and I was a big fan of the chicken doner (lamb was a bit on the dry side).
Original review
Nice atmosphere but quite chilly inside. I was loving the decor with traditional little touches and beautiful framed photos of the namesake town. It made me want to jump right on a plane straight into European summer.
This desire was probably exacerbated by the unpleasant temperature in the restaurant. For some reason I'm finding that a lot this winter. Has the cost of gas gone up or something? Didn't seem to be bothering the other patrons as we were a full house albeit in a relatively small setting.
Continuing to embrace the friends with salad lifestyle I chose a grilled prawn salad and requested no onion. The salad was generous but unfortunately so was the infestation of onions. The prawns had a sensational char on them though and really delicious flavour. I was pretty delighted with my main although the dips were a little lacklustre and could have done with a bit more seasoning (carrot) and perhaps some garlic (babaganush).
We also had the iskender (meat covered in yoghurt and crushed tomato), lamb kebab, lamb kofte and a dinner plate (chicken and lamb with salad and dip) on the table. All presented quite well although opinions were mixed. I certainly enjoyed what I ate, it was very sizeable for a salad and my interest was piqued by an apple baklava. One to keep in mind on a non dieting return trip

One half of Melbourne Culture Eats hails from a Cypriot Background! We were both in Cyprus in 2015 and returning next year!
We both know Cypriot food really well as this is something culturally I am very exposed too!
We have had several Turkish Friends just rave about this restaurant! When it’s your own cultural food you always can be the hardest critic!
Tonight we ordered...
🍴: Meat Vine Leaves Dolma
🍴: Mussaka
🍴: Chicken Breast
🍷: Anatolian Wine
$$ Standard Pricing
I would like to point out the atmosphere and decor of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful! It really took us back to our time in Kyrenia and all the Cypriot woven baskets! The photos reflecting the culture and the absolutely beautifully toned music.
The food was served quickly along with warm Turkish bread that was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside!
The food was absolutely outstanding from a Cypriots Perspective! The Dolma was just buzzing with flavour! I could really taste the fragrant all spice, the chicken was tender and full of moisture.
The side of vegetables home cooked and made with love.
The Mussaka was an absolute star!
Melbourne Culture Eats will be back to Nicosia!

We went their for iftar. Its Ramadan time now. They were serving a separate iftar platter which consisted of dates, cucumbers, cheese. Then we ordered sis yoghortlu and mixed kebab. The kebabs were really good. Really liked the ambiance.
Really recommended this place for great homestyle meals. Had the Nicosia Kofte, hot bean salad and turkish bread and felt like it had been cooked here at home, was fresh tasty and very generous portions, would definitely go back.
Best Kebabs in Melbourne! Bread, Meat and Salad all fresh. Been a customer for over 15 years and have never been disappointed. You guys really know how to cook food!!
Great hang out place in Glenferri road .... They had tasty in house bread and dips ... their desserts are a must try..! We loved the banana roll with ice cream
Loved the food here. Service was excellent. Enjoyed the atmosphere - did not feel like I was in Malvern. Ordered the banquet which was worth the price - had plenty of food.
The best baclava I've ever had in my life. They have the perfect texture and mixture of nuts. The staff is very kind and helpful. The owner of the restaurant is a funny man.
Pleasant staff, well priced, excellent salads and Turkish Mediterranean feel and tastes. Kofta was just as eaten in Istanbul and the lamb and chicken excellent.
We came here for dinner on Saturday. The environment was amazing with beautiful food smell. The place is busy but we manage to get a table in 10 minutes. The service was really good and waitress was nice. She explained some of the dishes as we are not frequent to Turkish Restaurants. Lots of vegetarian options here.
We ordered following items:
3 combination of dips with mix of Pita/Turkish bread. Capsicum dip was really amazing and bread was crispy. We were overwhelmed with the quantity. It's enough for 4 people.
Mixed Kebab - The lamb and chicken was juicy and tender.
Vegetarian Dolma - This was bit sour but properly cooked.
Ambience - Good
Food - Very Good
Service - Exceptional
We just came to Nicosia for desserts and chocolate drinks. Customer service is amazing. The waitress that served us was really nice. I think many would return just because of the good service she provides. She was very chatty and helped us learn some words in Turkish.
I ordered the chocolate mousse. I liked it! Everyone else enjoyed their desserts and drinks. Only thing I could suggest is not put so much fairy floss on the iced chocolate. Also maybe don’t supply sugar satchels for iced chocolate and hot chocolate, wasn’t really needed 😂 I will need to come back here to try the mains.
I picked a vegetarian dish: the ‘Vine Leaves Dolma – vine leaves and cabbage filled with rice and vegetables. Served on a hot plate with Nicosia special sauce ($20.00)’. You won't be left hungry at Nicosia...
I'm a big fan of this place. We ordered the following:
Meze for One ($20)
Full Kebab (Entree $18)
Beef Sis (Entree $17.50)
Sucuklu Pide ($16.50)
They also provide a complementary serve of Turkish bread.
All the food here comes in big proportions, and is well prepared and delicious.
Food is delicious but way, way over priced. I used to come here all the time but since the prices have changed it's hard to justify. Service is good it looks like a family business
Friendly staff with massive servings...meat succulent and full of flavour. We were spoilt for choice. Staff were very accommodating. Would highly recommend!
Ordered a chicken kebab to go for $10 for lunch. It was very large and I was unable to finish it, but good value for money. Perhaps I'll share it next time?
Yaaaaaaaas. Seriously though, prompt service, giiiinormous portions and perfectly cooked meat.
Oh wait, them dips.
Fabulousssss. Especially enjoyed the spicy capsicum and cucumber yogurt dips.
Should anyone plan on visiting Nicosia, definitely suggest you to under order instead of over order, just in case there's too much left overs.
Will definitely be coming back for more. Yum!
We have ordered from Nicosia a few times now and they have not disappointed..
Our go to orders are Chicken Doner Kebab, Vegetarian Kebab and Mix Doner Kebab.. have tried their dips+bread option too with their Nicosia Dip being my favourite.. The kebabs are well filled (with meat of your choice) and include lettuce, tomato and onion. Their yoghurt-garlic sauce is delicious. I have tried the chicken Doner with mayonnaise and that did not disappoint either!
The fries are good too though I wish they had the option of a smaller serve for same.
Overall I will say... generous servings, delicious food and value for money! Will definitely keep ordering.
Nicosia is a family owned Turkish-Cypriot restaurant in Malvern East. Decor is a bit dated, still have the kitchen in the front of the store like traditional Turkish restaurants. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The service is extremely, extremely quick, constantly tending to the table bringing round extra bread for dips. The food is flavoursome, fresh and delicious! The portions are huge!!! Nicosia is cheaper than Marmara, but quality of meat is a few stars down, slightly more tender and tougher but still tasty. Desserts are lovely! Big portions, fresh and homemade!
TIP: Do order the Set Banquet- you really get to try everything on the menu, great value. Don't forget to order Apple Cinnamon Baclava- soft, sweet and delicious! Do try the dips- homemade, fresh and tasty. The beetroot dip is our favourite, amazing flavour!
Food 1.5: got the dinner plate and it came super fast! Massive salad & lots of meats!!! ❤️ I was really craving for meat 🍖
Service 1.5: exceptional!
Decors & atmosphere 1.5: very nice despite being small
Good authentic Turkish food, I love the pide, order it every time. Good sized servings, especially the meat dishes, and quick services. Family favorite, will return definitely.
We had a very nice family meal here on a Saturday night. Service good. Big servings. Kids catered very well. Good atmosphere. Casual. Good value. We will return.
A Cypriot city in the north which is highly influenced by the Levantine cuisine of the Ottoman Empire, the climate and produce of the Mediterranean. Nicosia really does justice in bringing a taste from this part of the world to Melbourne.
This restaurant has a simple casual decor and becomes extremely busy during weekends and peak hours!
The food is fresh and the dishes are well cooked. The menu is extensive and the variety is overwhelming. The bread and dips are a must try- the warm Turkish bread is unbelievable and very easy to over dose on! The salty fried Halloumi cheese makes a great starter and the meat dishes come on sizzling iron plates! Be sure to order a combination of meat and veggie dishes for a balance and don't forget about the pides!!
If you are too overwhelmed by the menu, there are a great selection of banquettes to choose from at a reasonable value!
A great family friendly dining experience with hearty food and good service!
Delicious food, great service from warm Cypriot owners. Highly recommend the mix donner with rice & vegetables. Warning the servings are huge, leave room for dessert, baklava!
A perfect place for a simple Friday night meal. The Turkish bread was to die for and the servings very generous. Looking forward to eating some more of their pides.
Cute little Turkish cafe ... Pretty decent serving size of a kebab too!! Chips could been cooked a bit longer but it's ok I'll go back one day :)
Quality of the food really depends on the time of day your in and who's cooking.... I recommend visiting at lunch time, and, if the owner (bald with mustache) is in the kitchen your in luck.... Salads are fresh and delicious!! Lamb chops were reported as lovely. Lamb skewers not so much. Doner Kabab, standard, delicious. Veg and rice dishes average....desserts, yummy! ! I recommend the chocolate mousse😆
3.5/5
Our local for good lamb off the pit, diners, sis, and warm pitas - all served with a great Efe raki!
Always fresh and generous, with an ambiance that takes you back to that special holiday - we love Nicosia and often get taken away as well as eat-in. We have been going for 8 years now.
The staff is lovely and friendly, and the food authentic, making it a popular choice amongst Malvern locals.
First time last night. I went with two friends, one hearing impaired. They seated us at a table in the far corner so our conversation was easy. Service was excellent. Quality of food very good and quantity amazing. We enjoyed our evening tremendously and will definitely return.
This place has remained unchanged for decades and it deserves to be loved. The food is fresh, healthy, fabulous and the portions are more than generous. Recommend.
I love a great family run business that serves their food with lots of love and enjoyment. Whether you eat their wraps, meals, banquets or just their desserts, you will never leave hungry, and you will always leave with the most amazing flavours in your mouth. Food works well take away too!!!
Love this place! Great Turkish restaurant with lots of options! Had the Turkish sausage, dolmas, grilled feta, and lamb! Delicious! Very cheap too.
This is a very small place and when full is a tight fit. At peak times it's usually completely packed. This is because the food is good, service not so much as it's hard to move around.
It's worthwhile going for the food but due to lack of space can be painful with kids.
Good food, generous serves, quick good service. Worth a try. Our kids love this place. Would not order everything at once as you may find the tables too small when things come in one hit. Try the Lahmacun!
Foodie. Read a review in weekend notes a while ago about this restaurant so we decided to give it a try, I was very impressed I must say. The restaurant itself is not very big but the food here is amazing and very busy you know you are on to good thing when there are a lot of middle eastern people dining there. The dips are to die for , really good fresh salads and as for the meat there is so much of it all I can say is yum yum yum the staff are also great. If you want really great Turkish food try this restaurant will be going back with friends. Tip do book before you go as this place gets packed, and it is byo as well what more could you want.
Best Kebab in Melbourne?. Seriously, if you think you know of a better kebab, let me know.
I'm willing to bet you can't even walk past this place without the aroma sucking you in!
Very generous servings. Very generous serves, I eat here often and have never had anything to complain about. Good old fashioned family business.
Definitely add this to your favourite restaurants. We went to Nicosia on Saturday night and it was fabulous. Sitting in the setting spring sunshine and well into the night, we ate an abundance of delicious fresh home cooked food, served as quickly or as slowly as we needed, by a wonderful Cypriot family who took pride in their culture, their food, their restaurant and the quality of their service. It all harked back to the dining experiences we love where a meal is an event for the evening, not something in between other events, and the experience is complimented by knowledgeable owners/cooks who take pride in everything they are and do, and gladly guide you through the dining experience if asked. This was our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last.
Brilliant!. Good service and even faster food service. Big portions, delicious flavours and reasonable prices.
An absolute joy..... Nicosia has wonderful food, and in all the years we've been going there, or having food home-delivered from there, we've never had an issue. Absolutely consistent, and absolutely well-priced!!
So delicious. I love Turkish food. Not very interactive staff but the food and the quaint restaurant is superb. The surrounding tables have both times my hubby and bubby and myself have been there have been occupied. I had this time the capsicum dolma, lamb sis which was semi burnt but I love it like this, and the flat pizza with minced lamb on top with parsely lemon and mini pickled vegies. I will definitely continue to dine here.
The food displayed in its cabinets always look like they're great quality. Dishes are relatively reasonable in price and usually tasty enough. Don't get the full kebab though - it's too much meat and too many combinations of meat even if you are a big meat eater. Th meat and vegetables in kebabs are too chunky. The non-kebab dishes are better than the kebabs.
A bit cramped, but amazing food! Loved it. Very fresh! Would definitely go back
Good quick service and large meals
I ordered the mixed doner kebab/wrap $10 and avocado dip $3.5 for lunch. Amazing! Its good value for money. They gave generous amount of meat. Some calories conscious people may find it oily but I love the juice! The avocado dip is very fresh. I would definitely come back to Nicosia.
I love this place ! If you want homemade tasting food that tastes like it came out of your grandmas kitchen you must come here
Amazing value. Fresh food. Been here about 10 times and have not once been disappointed
Great value!!. I come here at least once a fortnight. It's a great little restaurant with exceptional value. I often order the felafel wrap and it's the best I've ever had - consistently. My boyfriend often gets the lamb kebab and says it's the best lamb he's ever had in a kebab and is always packed full of meat. Their grilled vegies are often oily which is my only criticism of the food. Mostly pleasant staff. Will keep coming back.
I love it!. Absolutely adore this place. Have been there about 15 times already this year with my boyfriend.
Salad servings are generous, meat is tender and tasty, wait staff attentive... my favourite restaurant at present
Great food every time I go. I'm lucky to be a local!
After reading reviews, I was nervous about suggesting this venue for our party of 13. The food was amazing, fresh and well presented and the service was good. We were all seated together on one long table. Everyone enjoyed the help yourself style of the kebab platter to share and there was plenty to go around. We will certainly be back!
Keeps us coming back for more. Being a local, this place is definitely a gem for those nights where you don't feel like cooking and want something wholesome and satisfying. The food is consistently tasty with great prices and more than generous portions. Cannot get enough of the falefel and haloumi/goat cheese salad, while my partner always enjoys his mixed grill. Dips and pitas are always a great addition.
The service can sometimes be a little inconsistent when the place gets busy, but can be forgiven due to the consistend high standard of the food.
Update 2019: Still coming here 7 years later and still doesn't disappoint.
Pros: Great value restaurant, big portions, value wine list, tasty meat. Cons: Tiny tables, can be noisy, and the meat, although tasty, is quite processed and oily. Final thought: It's a good value kebab joint...
Great place to go of your looking for a kebab that's worth every cent. When you walk in all the mouthwatering meats and other foods are all behind glass waiting to be cooked, the staff are friendly and the restaraunt has a good atmosphere. 7.5/10
Great tastes!. Food was cooked to perfection, with the accompanying dips , salad and fresh home made bread making it one of the best local eateries. Have been back many times and still enjoy the variety every time.
Been here over over a dozen times and then multiply that by a dozen. One of the best kebabs house I've visited. consistently yummy food, prompt service, always smiling staff. Keep up the good work Sue & Co.
This place would easily be in my "one of the last meals before i die list"
Great food and great value, I work in the area and have gone to Nicosia many times for lunch, I've heard dinner is a little more expensive but I would gladly pay more, my recommendation the lunch plate can't go wrong value for money is 10 out of 10

Love their Iskender main with salad and rice. I recommend paiting it with a glass of Cabernet.
Number 1!. Best kebab ive tasted so far in melbourne!! i ordered the chicken sis lunch special and it's the one of the few dishes in melb i'd consider good food. definitely go there
Amazing Turkish Cypriot cuisine. Try the iskender!
Donerr kebabs that I dream about and the most tender chicken immaginable.
