Review Servery And Spoon - Malvern

Stan Veloutsos
Nice open space, friendly service, nice breakfast. The Salmon fritters were delicious. The chai latte was a little watery / runny. The plates they use are really nice. Loved them.

The service was really nice. We could order at the table and they created a Babyccino, even it was not on the menu. We shared the pancakes and they were delicious. The tasted It was no problem to get a second plate for our little one. It is a nice place to sit in, but you get coffee to go as well, what we did the day before.

Staff were very lovely but very overpriced , got charged $3 for aioli sauce in addition to the cost of the chips wasn’t impressed.

Nice atmosphere nice food ... I really like the place and their decoration so much arty and elegant.

Fantastic work! Lovely service and amazing food. So many options - everyone's meal looked and tastes delicious!

Food was tasty and the staff were friendly. Price probably a little steep and my picolo came in a paper cup despite dining in. Other than that, don't hesitate to give Servery and Spoon a visit!
Greg Burns
Been three times, and ordered a different dish for each sitting. Every one has been delightful.

Good food, nice and quiet and cafe. I have enjoyed my meal here

Appalling in every way! I ordered a gluten free meal, to be given poached eggs which were crumbed in gluten containing bread crumbs! Then when I questioned it,m to their wait-staff, I was told they would speak to the manager. No communication when they did and then when I had to pay, they so graciously waved the gluten free surcharge. You poisoned me. Thanks.

we have always had excellent service and delicious food....

Generous servings of quality food. Innovative menu. Fresh ingredients. Tasty. Just sensational.

Not sure whether it’s just they’re depressed about the impending lockdown, or they’ve changed hands but today’s experience was vastly different from what it was a year ago. Took 40 mins to get 2 coffees and a milkshake, it also took 40 mins to tell us they were out of apple and orange juice. Ten minutes later we enquired about our food order - wait staff went to check, five minutes later we had to ask again and were told our order of eggs on toast, a ham and cheese toastie, soups of the day, kids brekky had not started cooking yet. This was 55 mins after our initial order. In the meantime the table next door found a needle in their food! Needless to say we left after paying for our drinks.

A nice cafe for coffee and cake. The cafe has a nice atmosphere and staff were warm and welcoming. I like the comfortable feel here.<br/><br/>I was only passing through, so didn't get to try any of the menu items; but they did have a nice selection of cakes, and I enjoyed my cake and coffee. Servery & Spoon is a lovely venue, and I will be back for some of the brunch items.

Saw the menu on Zomato and noted that they had a few items that I could eat. So we drove several kms to Servery & Spoon.<br/><br/>We were very surprised upon entering at 12.30 on a Sunday to find the place was empty barring a couple of people at a corner table. Why?<br/><br/>We were warmly greeted, and left with the menu at a table. Upon perusing the menu, I realised that none of the items that I had picked out on the Zomato menu were there, and nothing on the menu catered to my food intolerances, so we left.<br/><br/>Very disappointed.

There's an interesting story behind this. After an intensive morning combat session, the potatoe and I used the gym's steamer to better cleanse our stinky bodies. An experience it was being a first timer as I recall fumbling into the steamy room and staring intently at the lad sitting in the corner in his bonds shorts before I shyly closed the door, determined to wait for potatoe to guide me through the steamer's etiquette.

Pros: great staff, nice space, good variety of menu items, easy to park close by.<br/><br/>Cons: not cheap, food is not amazing. Menu has a great variety of interesting components like labneh and sirracha hollandaise but it’s just not executed up to its potential. <br/><br/>For example, the mushrooms needed more balsamic and the hollandaise needed tarragon and better quality butter.<br/><br/>With a little tweaking it could be a lot better.

We went all the way to servery and spoon to redeem a scoopon voucher which clearly stated no bookings required. The guy manning the cafe turned us away saying that they have fully redeemed all scoopon vouchers. Why didn’t you care about the customers’ efforts to go all the way to your cafe with a valid voucher? We need not take it up with scoopon, you should have sorted it out. Now you’ve lost even more customers. Good luck.

Cute place! But the fritters I ordered were the worst I've ever had unfortunately :( I couldn't finish half of it! But other things on the menu were good.
Lindy Lang
We had the shakshuka and the French toast... was nice... just nice. As was the coffee. <br/><br/>The waiter was very friendly and nice.<br/><br/> May go back and try something else

Cool place to grab some food with friends during the week end. Recommend the brekky menu oat porridge, egg Benedict, cheese croquette, pumpkin fritters, the chicken congee and of course the classic big brekky.
Anne Dimitriadis
Bought a Scoopon voucher and said they were booked up for scoupon bookings but could take normal bookings. Thats so unfair and now have to go though the site to get refund which is such an effort. Not sure why they are sellling scoupons if they dont have the capacity for taking them

Oh dear-this place used to be nice and reliable but now not so much. People Please take notice and try a bit harder. Coffee was okay though.

Average food, cafe is always expensive but this one serve really small portion. I’m not a fan, will never go there again. It’s difficult to find a park.<br/>The outdoor area is really nice and comfortable.<br/>

Came here for lunch. Had the Moroccan lamb salad which was quite tasty and fresh. Service was very rushed and not particularly welcoming. Portion sizes were on the small size (especially for the juices).

I have been to Servery & Spoon several times before and was really looking forward to having the Moroccan lamb salad . I was advised the menu has changed recently and didn't know what to order as it was a very limited , Asian inspired menu . I thought I'd try the beef angus burger. Let's just say when it arrived I was not impressed . It looked and tasted like the old skool burgers from the 80's fish and chip shops at a premium of $20.50! .The patty was firm and tasteless. I often wonder why new owners change a perfectly good menu. Won't be back again

Seriously the best fritters I ever had in Melbourne! Coffee is delicious too. Waiters are a bit slow, but the food definitely makes up for it.
Split The Bill
I went on a Sunday afternoon with a friend for lunch as we were invited by the owners to try their cafe. Immediately when you walk in, it feels cosy and warm. A lot of young families, and students. <br/><br/>We had the dukkah crumbed eggs, and the nasi goreng. The nasi goreng was a standout, I wasn't expecting this, the complex flavours, the bite of the rice, the spices, it was a great comfort dish. Highly recommended. I was less into the dukkah crumbed eggs, it's always a challenge when you crumb egg with dukkah, and maintaining that flavour when you fry the egg. That said, we ate it. <br/><br/>Coffee was decent. Service was friendly and they were attentive to everyone.  <br/><br/>They have a fridge full of pre-made meals if you don't feel like cooking. I like how diverse they are. I didn't ask any questions but there's a lot of art work on the walls, and I understand they do drawing classes. There was a band playing mellow versions of pop hits which was a nice change. They were pretty good. <br/><br/>All in all, a great cafe wanting to be the local's choice. Enough quirks to give it personality, but not trying to be too cool for school, a pleasant vibe.
Jillian
Nice and quite little cafe. Have some big tables that can accomodate big groups. Service was friendly and prompt. I ordered the shashukla where as my husband ordered the corn and pumpkin fritters. My dish was ok, above average but my husband’s dish is good! Will come me back to try other things.

Lovely fit-out and great decor (beautiful blue and white chairs alongside polished wooden tables). A shame I got a bit forgotten when I sat down, but that honestly could have just been my own mistake of sitting behind a wall that didnt have much view to see behind it. Coffee was ok, good but not great, and the food was standard for what I had - Poached eggs + bacon + potato hash. Their menu is definitely thought out and does give a great amount of variety; no doubt there’s something for everyone on the menu! <br/><br/>I’d like to go back and see if they’ve improved given I did go in a few months ago.<br/><br/>3/5
Hungry Little Dinosaur
Servery & Spoon reminds me of a quaint little cafe in the bush - really beautiful well presented tasty food with fantastic service. Worth definitely coming out here for a trip. Very impressive!

A spacious cosy cafe located in Caulfield near Monash Uni. <br/><br/>We came here for a weekend brunch catch up. The restaurant was spacious and had different sections making it feel cosy. <br/><br/>Drinks: Golden Latte & Flat White. <br/><br/>Food: Pumpkin & Corn Fritters and Tusian Sakshouka with lamb<br/><br/>I had the baked eggs with extra lamb. It was the perfect meal for a rainy day, warm and comforting. There was a generous piece of toast as well as 2 extra poached eggs on top of the baked eggs. It is definitely a protein packed meal. <br/><br/>My friend had the fritters (which I got a chance to try). Definitely one of the largest fritters we have ever had. There were 3 large fritters topped with sweet potato crisps. The Fritters were tasty and had a punch of flavour.
Decent Feed
A lovely cafe with a huge space that can seat many people inside. Luckily we were seated straight away. Went for the Moroccan Slow Cooked Lamb Salad and the Crispy Dukkah Eggs as they stood out to us from the menu. <br/><br/>The Moroccan salad was delightful- it didn’t even taste like a salad. Although it didn’t seem like it at first, there were generous amounts of pulled lamb in the salad, which we were very pleased by. The portion ratio of greens to pulled lamb was perfect, and left us feeling satisfied but not too heavy on the stomach. <br/><br/>Crispy Dukkah Eggs was certainly not a let down either. Such crispy and perfectly cooked eggs. The only thing I would point out was that the sourdough bread was very tough, and made it quite difficult to cut.
Good Food Good Mood
I was pleased to be invited to Servery and Spoon on the weekend. I’d never heard of it so I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to a bustling venue and extensive space. Its handy location nearby Chadstone makes its a great pre-shopping option for me. There’s a whole heap of things going on; not only do they sell bread but they also boast frozen meals to take home and an array of other items including soaps, jewellery and cards. <br/>I opted for a chai (note the Zomato menu listed here is not current) which was full of flavour. Nothing worse then ordering a chai that tastes like mildly fragrant milk. <br/>Food wise my dining companion took up the eggs any way you like and added a side of cheese kransky for something different. <br/>The pumpkin and corn fritters sure did sound good but I went for the dukkah eggs instead which was their rendition of smashed avocado. This was a generously proportioned dish with two pieces of sourdough and two eggs garnished with crispy kale. Nothing like a good smashed avo in my humble opinion!<br/>We also tried the Tunisian shakshouka with the slow cooked lamb. Again a generous serving size with two perfectly poached eggs atop a tomato base with melty smoked mozzarella served alongside two pieces of bread. Garnished with a wedge of lemon the acidity cut through the rich tomato sauce and really elevated the flavour of the mixed spices.<br/>The venue was full to brim with locals and families enjoying themselves which is always a tell tale sign of quality. And with a multitude of cakes supplied by Little Bertha the experience only gets better!

Located just several minutes from Chadstone, Servery & Spoon is a humble cafe situated in Malvern. With simple, idealistic interiors for a rustic home-like feel, the spacious eatery is the perfect place for a lazy “brunch and chat” with friends. Staff are attentive, and quick on their feet - meaning that you won’t find yourself waiting ridiculously whilst hungry. I opted for the classic middle eastern baked eggs, Tunisian Shakshouka. With a tomato base, The eggs sitting proudly on top and oozing invitingly when prompted, I was sure set for a decent winner. And I was right - the addition of smoked mozarella adds further depth, while the sourdough helped to add additional texture. My only note was that the tomato was quite overpowering and danced on the edge of repetition. A bit of a kick may have helped to elevate the dish a bit more.
Two Sheds
This is a hidden gem. The best bistro/cafe of its type in the southern suburbs on our experience today. It’s better here than at more fancied places including the famed Leftfield.<br/><br/>We loved the space. It’s bright and airy with plenty of room to spread out. A small thing, but I loved that there is seating with decent cushions instead of hard, flat immovable surfaces. Also, whoever chose the music playlist really knows their stuff. The music playing throughout was fabulous.<br/><br/>We were advised that there is a new menu offered here now and that the chef has over 15 years experience overall and has been in Australia 6 years. The menu looked contemporary and very interesting: we quickly selected the corn fritters and the Tunisian baked eggs.<br/><br/>We were knocked out by the quality of both dishes. It’s beautiful food. The corn fritters were with smoked salmon and poached eggs. They’re lovely fluffy fritters with great flavour including a fascinating hint of spice. Ditto the gorgeous baked eggs. These are the best I’ve ever had. The previous best were those at Jerry Joy in Thornbury but these topped those to my astonishment. They are rich and substantive again with delicate hints of spice. And, whoever decided to add the slice of lemon is a visionary too. The acidity is just beautiful with the dish. <br/><br/>We finished with coffee and red velvet cake. Both were wonderful. The coffees were expertly made, real Melbourne coffees. The cake was excellent. Lovely, tasty and moist. The perfect finish.<br/><br/>This was an unexpectedly great meal. We loved the place, the food and the service. The world’s most stunning woman and I commented to each other that this was a pretty much the perfect brunch. Put Servery and Spoon in the inner suburbs and they’d be fighting off customers and the lines around the block. <br/><br/>Finally, I’m conscious that I’m giving another 5. This is another case of not having the capacity to give a half mark. A 4.5 would have been optimal, but a 4 far too low. In those circumstances, there’s no option but to choose the higher mark.<br/><br/>(Our sincere thanks to Nitin and Ritika for the invitation to visit here. We loved it. We wish them and their venture the good fortune that it and they deserve.)

I was invited my Servery and Spoon to try out their menu and I bought my hubby and kiddos (their meals are not comped).<br/><br/>Upon entering the bright and airy cafe we were greeted by the smiling Ritika. She set us up with two high chairs and two Grug book and menus. Turns out, the two grug books were also children’s menu! We also got given some colouring pencils for drawing too!<br/><br/>We got the home made sausage rolls and French toast for the kids and hubby had the angus beef burger and I got the dukkah eggs.<br/><br/>It wasn’t super busy at that time but I found that our food took slightly longer than expected to arrive. When it did though, my dukkah eggs and the French toast looks soooo yummy!<br/><br/>My dukkah eggs were amazing. It came with half an avocado 🥑, the eggs are beautifully coated with dukkah and the #yolkporn were amazeballs. The spinach were beautifully cooked and salted, even my kids love it! To add extra crispy texture, there is also kale chips! Yummmm. Hubby also quite enjoyed his burger 🍔 <br/><br/>Kiddo 1 & 2 were at first hesitant about the sausage roll and French toast as they are too busy eating hubby’s chips. I do appreciate that Servery and Spoon tried something different and didn’t just give kids nuggets and chips! There were lots of options for kiddos! Eventually after they finish all the chips they loved the sausage rolls and French toast with fresh strawberries. I tried a little bit too and I found the sausage roll just a touch salty than I would like it in a kid’s menu... although hubby thinks it’s fine. The French toast is nice too all soft and spongey yum.<br/><br/>All in all, I think it is a lovely neighborhood gem. The staff were lovely, they are so very baby friendly and dog friendly too. Plus they have takehome meals for sale too!<br/><br/><br/><br/>

Food could be presented better, there was hair in my friend’s coffee. Salmon was a bit aged. Just lacking a Fressh good morning, vege patty Wass nice crispy

Mate of mine talked this place up quite a bit so trusted his judgement and visited for brunch, chose the baked eggs and a fresh OJ with some extras on the side, OJ came out quick but in a type of jar glass, sigh.. thought these had been put to bed already, anyway the food came out, nicely presented, great taste and full of flavour with decent portions for the price. Waiter had forgotten to put through friends bacon and strangely came back shortly after to clear one of our plates but took my side plate with feta and chorizo which was still full? Found that very weird. We figured it may have just been a new employee. will deffs be coming back here tho.

Incredibly disappointing food. The first two times we came here it was great, but it has absolutely gone downhill since then.<br/><br/>My steak was flavourless, overdone, tough, and impossible to cut into with the butter knife I was provided. The waffle tasted old and was dry and horrible. My partner's meal was pretty much flavourless too.<br/><br/>It's clear that the old chef is gone, and the new chef doesn't know how to cook or design a menu.<br/><br/>The staff seemed miserable, and so much was dirty: a fork, my glass, my teaspoon, my saucer.<br/><br/>Finally, we were never asked how our meals were, or how it was going, because they clearly already knew and didn't want to hear it.
Food Comatose
Servery and Spoon gets all the elements right - from the relaxed ambience (excellent Spotify playlist by the way!) to their unique menu, it’s always a top choice for me when I’m in the area. We ordered the Crispy Dukkah eggs and Fajita Chicken wrap with chips (no image featured because I inhaled it too quickly) and they both hit the spot! Delicious and satisfying with generous servings, not to mention the lovely staff. Coffee is also on point (we stayed for two each!) and I have my eye on the matcha pancakes... until next time!

Cute coffee joint just away from Monash Caulfield Campus. <br/>Nice space with handmade bits and bobs for purchase.<br/>Great breakfast, brunch and lunch choices.<br/>The coffee was ok, but has room for improvement.
Five Star
I came here on recommendation from friend. <br/><br/>Cafe has a great feel, service was awesome, coffee was good, however, I ordered the wrong thing. Baked beans, with lamb meat balls. Two things were wrong here, the poached eggs, well one was bustered, flat, clearly no runny yok, it even looked mangled, but still served... if I break one at home, I make another one, I expect a resturant to do the same. The lamb meat ball, I can’t say anything good, truly didn’t belong and was unpleasant (dry, chewy, clearly been in fridge for too long, well past its best if it had one, just yuk). So paid $20 bucks for one egg, and a few beans. a very small disappointing meal, in looking back, I shouldn’t have paid for mine...<br/><br/>I’d go for standard basic meals here, possibly an option that doesn’t take any sort of skill in cooking, my friend had bacon and scrambled eggs, seemed to enjoy.
The.Top.Lifestylee
"Pumpkin corn fritters"<br/>The avocado was fresh and the salsa was brilliant. The service was decent. Although the fritters were a disappointment as they didn't taste fresh at all, tasted pre-made and lacked flavour.
Mistermister
Great venue with plenty of seating. Offers simple options from the front windows or bigger breakfast options (very generous servings) from the menu. The prices are reasonable enough and they have a decent kids menu. Coffee us great too!
Tania Karyadi
Came here with my Aunty, she is a coffee fanatic and was disappointed by their cappucino, but the food was good and ambiance was ok. Would come back.
Natalie Snook-eye Scarlett
I had the Harissa eggs and Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. The combinations of flavours of my dish were perfect. The staff were also very friendly and helped to provide assistance and were knowledgeable about the food provided.
FattyM
Great menu selection - we ordered the dukkah eggs and the sautéed mushrooms. The sautéed mushrooms came with so much more than expected! And the kale was not just simply blanched which was a nice surprise - flavour explosion with the butter sautéed mushrooms. Eggs are perfectly cooked still runny for both dishes. Service was prompt and super nice! Would definitely come back
Margaret
Love the relaxing ambience, friendly staff, fine food with full-body house blended coffee, great food n nice coffee, thats what you ask for on your weekend. Full range of options on their menu, light meal or full breakfast etc. Great cafes.
Anna Ziegler
Incredibly disappointing food and service! I had previously been here about a year ago and it has certainly gone down hill since then! <br/><br/>The eggs were overcooked and the fritter was very oily. The strangest thing though was when my partner asked to substitute the smoked salmon for haloumi on one of the dishes (the haloumi is the cheaper option). We were told that 'substitutions weren't possible - not with this chef' but it was possible to add it to the dish for an extra $4??!! I understand not having substitutions on a weekend but this was Monday morning and there were 3 tables of people in the place! <br/><br/>Not sure why its gotten the reviews it has..
Mabel Chau
Very cute and cosy cafe with a friendly bunch of staff. I had the porridge with soy milk on this cold start to my day and it sure hit the spot.

Best cafe in the south east by far, and relatively unknown, and always quiet... baffles me. Truly; the coffee, food and service here is second to none. You should be proud to be placing up such consistent dishes, which are both value-for-money based, with fair prices, and exceptional taste/flavour/portion sizes.<br/><br/>Big ups guys - been here three times and will be returning with the squad ✅✅✅
Emily Wallman
Delicious food, management should definately put more staff on as 3 wait staff for a sunday morning was very unfair. Staff were lovely though
Melbrunchin
This place is so quiet, and I don't understand why?? It is amazing! I have been here twice and thoroughly enjoyed both meals, so tasty and so reasonably priced, truly hard to fault. Exceptional coffee, service and food!
Breakfastpiggy
A very nice place for a lunch with friends or a quick coffee on the go. The food is incredible and the coffee is made to perfection<br/>If you're looking for somewhere to sit down and enjoy a nice meal this is the place to go<br/>The breakfastpiggy team

Great ambience fruit and nut polenta was so good and all ingredients work very well together very clever dish will definitely come back for more
Julycheee
Servery & Spoon is a nice and quiet cafe with friendly service. The food was so-so though (and the servings were really large). The duck and wild mushroom risotta was quite watery, which was a real shame. The ingredients sounded so nice. The ingredients for the bruschetta salad also sounded great on paper, but to be honest it was not a cohesive dish. It felt more like a bunch of ingredients thrown together from a salad bar - individually nice, but not really a restaurant quality dish that worked as a whole.
Nay Nay
Don't get me wrong I had high expectations for this place being in Malvern! For starters the service wasn't great! Staff didn't fit the vibe offered through the styling. However loved the menu and food was really good in presentation and taste so the kitchen BOH has it right but the FOH needs work.
Scott Kirkwood
Solid food but the service can be hit and miss.  The coffee is poor and the attitude of the "too cool for school barista leaves a lot to be desired

Couldn't fault a thing. Came over the Easter weekend and got seated right away. Latte was perfect! Crusted dukkah eggs were amazing and smashed avo with halloumi had this delicious sauce to go with it.

Whenever I'm in the Caulfield area, this is my go to place for great food and a reliable caffeine hit! Love the Fritters & Crusted Dukkah eggs and the coffee is always consistently strong and good! Cosy place that you can enjoy with friends or have some personal timeout at.
April_eats
Nice place, friendly staff. Popped in for breakfast. Have my favourite almond milk (milk lab). Had the big brekkie, the slow roasted tomatoes were full of flavour, the hash brown was a bit bland, but the bacon made up for that! The Hepburn spring mineral water was so good, had the blood orange one. Might go back again if I'm in the area.
ThatGirlAlice
Three words: dukkah crusted eggs! So divine. I agree with many other reviewers in saying that the menu is so good that it's hard to choose what to order. A fail-safe is definitely the crusted eggs or scrambled eggs with a nice lemon wedge and some haloumi. Great coffee and the sweets in the cabinet are awesome. Can't go wrong with a good brownie. The little general store next door is definitely with a look. Despite being a reasonably small place I've never had to wait for a table.

We dropped in for a quick lunch mid week and ordered the Moroccan slow cooked lamb salad and the soft shell crab black bun.<br/>Excellent dishes. Generous in size and flavours and presented beautifully.<br/>Service was fast and efficient.

Stopped by at this cafe and was relatively stumped by the creative menu. I was town between the corn Fritters with salmon and the Japanese pancake. The waiter highly recommended the corn Fritters and so it was done! I really can't complain about this dish which was tasty, fresh and plentiful! The salsa especially was very refreshing given all the big flavours. But, I couldn't finish my meal. What a waste!
Michelle Andrea Leang
I like how the cafe is not located in busy areas but is near the tram stop at the same time. It is a good place to chill with a nice cup of chai latte. My friend and I ordered the Japanese Pancake and the Pulled Beef French Toast (or sandwich, I can't remember). The Japanese Pancake was better than we expected. It's surprising how the pancake could blend so well with soy sauce and mushrooms.
Jimmy Chew Food
One of those brunch places where everything on the menu looks awesome, and you spend ages making the decision while the poor wait staff keep patiently asking for your order. I was pretty happy with my Spanish omelette. It had quite a lot of potato, but was also generous with the other fillings of chorizo, cheese and peppers. It was a very much a decent omelette on it's own, but the herbs bread really helped to complete it. I think any egg breakfast isn't complete without a good piece of toasted bread. The Japanese pancake was very much of their own style, barely anything like the real thing. It was not bad, the main thing that hurt the flavour was the sticky soy sauce was very sweet and salty and dominated each mouthful. My partner had this dish and it would have been difficult to consume very much of it. And she didn't finish it in the end. The mushrooms were a good addition as they were much at home in this sauce, and it also served the broccolini well I thought. Combining the yolk from the poached egg helped to soften the sauce a little too. It was almost pointless to add the sesame dressing. People who have tried sesame dressing will be able to testify that it is awesome stuff, but in this case, it was all but completely drowned out by the sticky soy sauce. This dish is an interesting and promising idea, but a few things need to be adjusted or toned back. My favourite dish was the pulled beef savoury French toast. Flavoursome beef on thick-cut FT, combined with some real tasty beauties produced some mouthfuls to savour. These additions were all some of my favourites. Onion jam, horseradish, creme cheese are always winners. Roasted beets, watercress and heirloom beer salad made appearances too. I was impressed with the standard of the brunch quality and ideas here, and luckily it's close to a friend's house, making it convenient to return--which I intend to.

Extremely happy and fast service, amazing food and very clean and positive environment. Popped in for a quick meal and never wanted to leave.
The Whippeteers
Today 'The Whippeteers' zoomed up to "Servery & Spoon" just a few minutes before closing time.  We were treated to friendly, helpful service, even tho the guys were obviously well into their closing up duties.<br/><br/>The Cafe Latte was SUPERB.  It came in a 200ml take away cup.  It looked sooooo TINY.  Why so small?  Well, that is the perfect size for a latte.  So why make it bigger? No need.  Less landfill.<br/><br/>Ps today Wasabi 'the super pup' was RATHER sore and sorry after her HIGH SPEED  S >L >> I >>D >>E  on the wet concrete yesterday.  She literally spent the night LICKING her WOUNDS.  <br/><br/>Likewise, this Whip  was left  LICKING delicious  FROTH from today's coffee!

Excellent cafe So much do that I returned the next day. I ordered the Japanese pancake on my first visit. Very rich and lovely. I was topped with a poached egg, mushrooms and broccolini. Delicious. The second time I ordered the Dukkah eggs. Absolutely sensational. Great cafe in the area. Will return.
Kate Dougherty
Having been to Servery & Spoon on numerous occasions years ago I only just realised that I've never written a review. One of the best little cafes in the area in my opinion. With a regularly changing menu of interesting dishes this cafe never disappoints. Today I ordered the Japanese pancake with enoki mushrooms, broccolini, a poached egg and sesame dressing. I also added a side of chorizo. I loved the Asian flavours and the mixture of mushrooms however the chorizo was well over cooked making it very tough to eat. Apart from that it was all very tasty. My only other comment is that their coffee is always lukewarm which is a pet hate of mine.
Aparna Attawar
Got the dukkah crusted eggs which were fantastic! Eggs were still gooey on the inside even though they look like they've been deep fried and the combination with feta, spinach and grilled orange was delicious. Highly recommend this dish and the golden latte too!
@twogoodtoresist
With forever changing menus we love this cafe and always having the ability to try something new. Our ultimate fave from the summer menu was the bircher muesli. The dukkah crusted eggs are to die for as well! Great coffee and amazing takeaway capabilities here!
Owen Schebella
Talk about pretentious. Bunch of English twats running this place. The place looks lovely but the guys working there are a bunch of entitled asshats. Coffee was not amazing either. Plenty of better options around.
Nikstah
Nice little cafe on Malvern Road with extremely yummy coffee!!! We ordered the fritters and the chia pudding. Both nice tasting, so would definitely return. Great service.
Gourmet Explorer
It's a small and simple cafe. We ordered the Japanese pancake and crispy egg. Both of them have been well presented. They mixed the food with different nuts to add the extra elements in the dishes. They are very tasty.
Rupert West
I came here to eat yesterday and was overall very impressed. We are new to the area and haven't been to Servery and Spoon before, all the staff were really friendly and attentive to us and the food was really tasty as well. We ordered the Crispy Dukkah Eggs and the Southern Fried Chicken Sliders and was very pleased with the serving size of both meals. We finished off with a couple of sensational coffees, we will definitely be dining here again.
Maddie Campbell
The food came out so quickly! Especially on a weekend, we were very impressed. I had the ham hock hash which was delicious and got major food envy at the dukkah-crusted eggs. A bit overpriced but a really enjoyable meal overall!
David Brown
Visiting the area and very happy to have found the Servery & Spoon, ordered the Ham Hock Hash and it was awesome! Really great food and coffee definitely recommend a visit!

We love Servery and Spoon! Great set up, friendly staff & a great menu. <br/>My sister always gets the French toast & I always the Dukkah Crusted Eggs!

This cafe has definitely blossomed from it's early days into one of the best cafes in the area. The food and drinks menu are broad, with options to suit everyone. They also have a lovely food store next door with delicious cakes and takeaway options. White Choc & Strawberry Shake - $9.90. I loved that the toppings weren't so OTT. The milkshake

Fantastic food with friendly staff. We're very lucky to have this cafe as our local. The takeaway meals are very handy too. Always have a few in the freezer ready to go.

Had a coffee and French toast here this morning. The one star is purely for the food cos the service is terrible. I had my dog with me so I had to sit outside. It took 10mins for them to see me (the store is small and the counter is right next to the outside seating area). Everything was fine during my meal until I finished. I waited 30mins and no one came to clear the table or give me the bill. I stood up and waved to them like an idiot for another 10mins but still wasn't recognised. Eventually I had to knock their window to get my bill paid. During the whole service there was no greeting, no smile and I am not sure what the problem was. Will not return or recommend to anyone.

Servery & spoon puts a tasty twist on familiar classics. We absolutely love the crispy dukkah eggs and hope that it stays permanently on the menu. We got the falafels with eggplant steak, homemade labne and capsicum sauce which had good balance of flavours. Bring your appetite as the serving...

Came in with few friends we've ordered Scottish egg and Japanese soy mushroom pancake, Both of them were ok and yet I love the plating. Latte art can be improved

Tasty brunch with fresh food that is cooked very well.<br/>I ordered 'Crispy Dukkah Crusted Eggs' added rosemary mushrooms. Eggs are cooked perfectly, and I really love the yummy mushrooms.<br/>Tried 'Crispy Chicken Sliders' also, the sliders are cooked and seasoned well.

I really wanted this place to deliver -it is in a convenient location and the menu looked promising. Unfortunately what let it down was super patchy service. The guy who 'served' us was clearly wishing he was still at home tucked up in bed -although the girl who took over from him was a lot more efficient. The food was ok - I had a potato rosti number - the kale bits on the top were pretty yummy and my partner seemed to enjoy their toast and egg.

The coffee here is of a high standard, but beware the drop in quality during busy periods. The menu has a good mix of the usual suspects (such as the pictured eggs bacon and hash stack with minted peas), as well as a few different choices (also pictured, grilled eggplant and falafel spicy brekky with optional eggs). Other highlights include dukkah crusted poached eggs or truffled mushrooms. Opening the poached eggs revealed a highly satisfying burst of gooey yolk. The kids menu also has some good options, with high chairs and colouring pencils available.

Nice environment and easy to find. Honestly I have a good time with my friend. But food is that good, at least not what I expect. We ordered the hot cakes and lamb salad. The sauce of the hot cake is nice but the cake is a bit under, which makes the taste really bland and sticky. The lamb cook really well and balanced with the fresh salad, except the extra flat bread. It is too tough to cut. These are just feedback, hope it will be better if I got change back there in the future.

Outstanding coffee. Delicious food. Beautiful decor. Always busy which creates great atmosphere. The food is on the pricier side but definitely worth it. Service is a hit or a miss.

One of the best brunches I've had lately! Cute little cafe, fantastic food, great service. Had the potato hash stack and it was delicious. Tried my first turmeric latte and it went down a treat! My friend was impressed with her cauliflower & haloumi falafels. Full of flavour, prompt service. Will be back again very soon!

Popped in here for breakfast with a couple of friends and had a great meal. I had the crispy chicken sliders with sweet potato chips. The sliders were excellent, the crispy chicken done really well and the sauces adding great flavour. <br/><br/>The sweet potato chips were however on the soggy side and didn't taste fresh. <br/><br/>Their coffee was made well and service was good too - overall an enjoyable meal!<br/>

The coffee is amazing! The new female barista knows her stuff. Perfect extraction, temperature and creamy milk. Plus she hands it to you with a smile! Delish!
Anna
Went for brekky on Sunday I had the Dukkah eggs and two coffees!! Great food and they have a new Barista who knows what she's doing!! The coffee Is Amazing!!<br/>Highly recommend!!

Very disappointing experience at Servery & Spoon today. I ordered an almond hot chocolate, when it arrived they had made me an almond latte so I sent it back. Waiter seemed very unenthused. He brought it back soon after as a hot chocolate, but tasted watery, bitter and strange, I drank it and soon after got a caffeine buzz - I don't do well on caffeine and now have to spend the day feeling wired and am breastfeeding so my baby will be affected too. It appears the poured half the coffee out, added milk and chocolate powder, which is both lazy and doesnt account for the fact some people cant cop on caffeine and sone people are breastfeeding. I called the cafe afterwards to complain the girl who answered the phone wasn't very interested, I explained it twice and she finally responded 'it shouldnt have happened'. I cant trust drinking at the caffe again. What a shame! As the cupcakes are fantastic, but the management really needs to take this lack of customer service more seriously.

Very enjoyable breakfast, I had the Frijoles fried eggs with chorizo - good flavors would have been better if the chorizo was in bigger pieces. Service was good

I don't even live in Malvern East and yet this place became my local.Whenever I visit friends in the area we come here for coffees and brunch. The coffee is always great, and staff are super friendly and the Dukkah Eggs are a constant winner.

Everything you could ask for in a cafe! Every time I go in there is a new offering and a great selection of home made cakes and salads. I have high standards for Melbourne cafes, but this place really lives up to it. And at the same time deserves to be considered in the same category as places like Top Paddock and St Ali. The menu is interesting and unique, while including all the Melbourne staples within the dishes. I love the fact that they offer lattes with almond milk ( not fake almond milk but very high quality ) and offer quick and friendly service. I don't go out of my way to review places unless I feel they genuinely deserve it, and this place really does.
Happy Egg 🍳
Had late lunch here one afternoon and it was very satisfying. We ordered the crispy dukkah eggs and the pulled beef roll. The crispy eggs were cooked to perfection, and the other components of the dish complemented the eggs really well. The portion size was perfect for me and I believe it was good value for money. My friend also really enjoyed their roll! Would recommend this place :)

My favourite cafe in Malvern East! We used to live nearby and go there almost every week. I still go back sometimes. Brunch is really delicious and they make yummy salads too. Great coffee and amazing smoothies. Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff too.<br/><br/>Just came back today after a few months - menu has changed a bit so I tried the cauliflower & halloumi falafel with eggplant, labne, capsicum sauce & added 1 egg, bacon & kale chips - it was plenty and very tasty. Golden latte is a new addition too and tastes delicious. Glad I came back!

First time here but it was a long time favourite of friends we went with. Great food, I had the sukkah crusted eggs but many other dishes sounded appealing. Great looking range of cakes but coffee wasn't quite up to the high standard set by the food

1. Service. <br/><br/>On an average weekday, I walked into the shop, had no greetings whatsoever. I looked around and one staff member said sit wherever u like. 10min later, i had to grab a waiter who happened to walk past me and I ordered baked eggs. <br/><br/>2. Food <br/><br/>After 25min of anticipation, the baked eggs gave finally arrived. The eggwhite was in a solid structure, hard as anything and the eggyolk is dried up which I had to scooped out from the dish. For a dish that cost 22 dollars, you would expect the quality is a bit better than that. The taste was okay. <br/><br/>3. Coffee <br/><br/>Good coffee overall. Good aroma, full bodied beans with creamy milk.<br/><br/>Over, 3.0 for its good coffee.
Commander_low
Average food. Despite only a few people in the cafe, the service was extremely slow for the food to arrive. It took over 30mins for a salad and a burger!

Very happy with this cafe! Service was good, food was great. I love the seating- very comfy where I was! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the portion sizing was perfect for me!

I was very impressed with this lovely cafe. Atmosphere was great, service was awesome and there was a good choice on the menu. The dishes were done artistically & were delicious!

Like most places that are a bit pricier than others in area, needs to offer a few things above the norm. Most things here are on par....coffee, ambience and service ok but not above the norm. Food is very good though. BBQ pulled pork roll amazing and kind of dish you come back for.

I have been going to this cafe for at least 7 years. Can always count on it for great breakfasts and lunch. No where I have ever been does the dukkah crusted eggs as perfectly as this place. I can imagine this dish must be so technique sensitive and yet here it is always spot on. <br/>Good coffee too. Nice location and a cute window for takeaway coffee. They have an attached deli/providore good for take home meals. It is up there amongst melbourne's best cafes in my book and I have been to a lot.

This place is a favourite of mine. Went in for brunch today and I had the corn and leek fritters with smoked salmon, poached egg, avocado smash and cherry tomatoes, which was excellent. They cook their eggs perfectly, and this place has generally nailed the variations of fritters I've had here over the last 12 months. Unfortunately they no longer do their zucchini falafels which were the best I've ever had - they really need to bring these back for me to score it a 5. The coffee is always good and they do big milkshakes in the old school metal milkshake cups. They also use premium istra bacon and make amazing home made potato hashes, not the crappy freezer ones you get in some places. Really great funky little place where the service is always good and food comes out quick even when they're packed. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the neighbourhood.

Really nice food in a funky cafe/restaurant, excellent for a catch up with friends over coffee and some yummy food. It's relatively expensive, slightly out of a university student's budget even though the university is down the road. The food combined an interesting mix of ingredients into a dish that worked, but couldn't be described as sensational. On the negative side, the service was only okay and the options for dessert were limited and pricey.
Saramazzaglia
Tried this place for breakfast over the weekend. It was pleasant and not too chaotic for a Saturday morning. Nothing was bad but not outstanding either. I got the fritters with smoked salmon and a poached egg. Enjoyed it enough. The service was ok, and not too pricey.

Been one of my family's favourites for a year or so. Very friendly staff, amazing chef, sensational cakes, terrible coffee 😢. I only eat out where the eggs are great. Place has changed hands and all the brilliance left with the previous owners it seems. Servinga look bland whereas they used to look like trendy artwork. Today's omelette looked like something i cook myself for breakfast 6 days a week. A little more attention to detail and presentation, and a new brand of coffee will take this place back to where it belongs...

A quiet cafe which has it’s own little deli connected. The deli appeared to have a lot of tasty items however we did not actually try anything from there. At 10am there was no wait for a table of 5. The coffee was okay but not amazing. For food we had the dukkah crumbed eggs, falafel egg dish, chorizo fried egg dish and the blueberry apple crumble.
Keen For Cuisine
This cafe is super nice, wish some awesome options on the menu that all sound so good! If youre visiting for the first time i'd say the go-to dish is the dukkah encrusted eggs, they are on another level! Haven't stopped thinking about them since

The coffee was okay but not amazing. For food we had the dukkah crumbed eggs, falafel egg dish, chorizo fried egg dish and the blueberry apple crumble. The crumble was really average and very dry. More yoghurt was requested but unfortunately it still wasn't very good. The dukkah eggs were the best dish out of them all and it was good but not spectacular. It was alright but with so many competitors, I would not return anytime soon. On a side note, the staff were very friendly but not too in your face.

Servery and Spoon is making its mark in the leafy suburb of Malvern East. Set in a converted family home, they serve a range of options to satisfy all tastes. . We sampled poached eggs with pumpkin mash and field mushroom omelette, smashed avocado and sausage. Both dishes were well cooked and of particular note was the delicious, chorizo like sausage served with the omelette. Worth checking out if you're in the neighbourhood.
Edible Melbourne
Walked in at 7:30am and the venue was empty. I must have been the first customer in and therefore I was greeted and seated promptly. I was given my menu and left in peace for a few minutes while deciding. <br/><br/>It get that much busier later one. I was being one of the annoying ones today that stick around for a couple of hours. Not normally my style but oh well.<br/><br/>Coffee is nothing special. Honestly, if I have to be ruthless about it, it was just a very bad, dirty extraction from a La Marzocca which has the potential of making a decent cup of coffee. So it is the barista. Shame.<br/><br/>When it came to food, I asked for the most popular thing on the menu. As I am not fussy in terms of food groups and flavours, I like giving venues the ability of providing their signature dishes - which in my experience are the best ones though not always the came. <br/><br/>It was suggested that the Dukkah Crusted Eggs is it. I added haloumi and istra sausage and swapped the sourdough toast for their, and I quote, "awesome pumpkin loaf". The pumpkin loaf was not "awesome" and it didn't actual taste anything like pumpkin or resembled anything like it. But it was an alright sourdough. The poached crusted eggs were nice even though presentation (of just the eggs) lacked shape and consistency. The dish was overly well presented with nuts for garnish (even though I didn't notice that on the menu - allergies(?)). The feta was meant to be crumbled. I thought it was just mashed (it could have been my bad however). There was some grilled orange on the plate which added no taste whatsoever to the dish other than just a little more color. Haloumi was well-made and portioned. Istra sausage was a little thin-sliced therefore a little dry but nice. <br/><br/>Not a place I would return to. It has the potential but not trying hard enough. The venue is spacious with many tables and a quirky nice character. Barista skills highly lacking and menu needs definite revision on flavors and options available.

servery and spoon, best cafe within 10 km of my house in every direction! I luuuuurve the dukkah eggs! I love this place! I love this place. They gave a bright and warm atmosphere. The staffs are also friendly. I ordered crispy dukkah crusted eggs with rosemarry mushrooms and really love it. I love every elements in the dish. The egg and mushrooms are well cooked and it taste amazing. Even the grilled orange taste really good, I love the burnt taste of the orange. Cant wait to go back and try other dishes

Crispy Dukkah Crusted Eggs with smashed avocado, crumbled feta and grilled orange on sourdough: Not sure if the grilled orange was necessary but the rest of the dish was delicious...

Really like this cafe for lunch. They offer a great range of options. The dukkah eggs are very tasty and a nice winter dish. The chicken salad is refreshing and scrumptious. The cabinet up the front has salads , wraps, cupcakes and slices. . There is also a little area where you can buy items to take home. Not too noisy either. Staff always helpful and friendly too.

A pleasant find indeed!  Came here with my mum for a late brunch a couple of weeks ago and were not disappointed.  A lovely open space with friendly enough staff.  Menu is short and simple, making it quite easy to decide on a dish.  My mum ordered the crispy dukkah eggs and we both spent some time pondering how such a perfectly cooked egg could be coated in such a way! <br/>Morning super salad with a side of the most delicious mushrooms ticked all the boxes.  Sweet treats in the cabinets looked beautiful, but felt a bit overpriced.

Everything was perfect as it looks. Crispy Dukkah Crusted eggs were yummm. Wild mushroom omelette was fantastic. Coffee was also nice. Well done guys keep up the good work. Highly recommended.

Just ok. Coffee hit or miss mostly miss. Food on the stingy side and exeee as well. Their take home stuff is way over priced. But when you have all wanna bees living around you, you can charge what you like. 😇😇

The service is usually very good, the staff friendly and efficient. We've always loved the food, I've only had one meal that wasn't to my taste over about 3 years, that's not their fault, the rest have been very good. Love the chicken burger and dukkah eggs (doesn't everyone)<br/>The coffee has always been unreliable though, often cold/luke warm (even if you ask for extra hot) and poorly made, it's the one reason we often go elsewhere, but just recently their coffee has improved, so we hope it stays that way. <br/>The fresh produce store is also, excellent, great to pick up something for afternoon tea or dinner. There is a lot to like about this cafe.

Lovely Breakfast :). Great breakfast, had to adapt order due to food allergies but the staff were wonderful. Breakfast was delicious, coffee was perfect.

Ambivalent. I ordered a coffee: weak extra hot latte. It came: regular strength lukewarm. Regardless of how coffee should be served, if I have a couple of minor conditions, is it not too hard to comply?

Great cafe!. We have been to this wonderful cafe many times before, and will keep coming back. Friendly, helpful staff and delicious food, not to mention the great coffee, makes it a great experience very time!

THEIR CRISPY DUKKAH CRUSTED EGG IS LOVE!!! Tried their Chicken Burger as well, but the chicken was too dry for my liking. Their mocha was not bad as well!

Love, love, love this place!. Amazing food and a great atmosphere! Always a great experience. Wishing I lived closer, so I could visit more often! Cannot go past the dukkah eggs for brekkie!

A place that ticks all the boxes!!. A spacious and elegantly decorated cafe. Service was great and the coffee was delicious. I ordered the house made crumpets with blackberries, yoghurt and vanilla maple. I have never had crumpets before for brunch out but so glad that i tried this beautifully presented and delicious dish. The crumpets were crisp on the outside and light and fluffy inside. Also it wasnt overly sweet as the berries and yoghurt perfectly balanced the maple. Had a great experience at this cafe!

Props to whoever does the hiring... over the years the young staff have always been so energetic, friendly, professional who look like they actually love working there. Along with the quality coffees and outstanding food, the staff are a huge reason we keep coming back, good job guys

All the love for Servery & Spoon.. Gah I keep thinking about those eggies. Amazing food/experience/service/coffee/everything. Need to write a blog about you guys to really detail my love. And don't get me started on the sweets cabinet.

JT and I ventured to the beautifully appointed, spacious….space of Servery and Spoon in Malvern. Fantastic, welcoming space with plenty of room for the masses. Just quality service with a smile. This was easily once of the best breakfasts I have had in Melbs. And I have eaten A LOT of breakfasts.

It’s not hard to feel at home at Servery & Spoon. A restored family abode that’s half-eatery, half-foodstore, Servery & Spoon is a far-flung dining destination for those looking to refuel, then restock. With its cute and quaint fitout – bright cushions strewn across comfy benches and random knickknacks not-so-randomly placed – Servery & Spoon could be perched in any corner of Melbourne’s café collection. Next door to the airy eatery is Spoon & Servery, a deli and foodstore. A glimpse at the groaning shelves and full-to-bursting fridge was enough to tempt Mother, who wandered off to have a sticky-beak leaving me at our table. Here, gourmet-gazers will find fare to refill their pantry with goods from pies, deli meats and salads to exotic treats and petite homewares. Walking out empty-handed may be a serious test of your will power. I only had one criteria for choosing my breakfast this particular morning: that it squash the worringly loud grumbles coming from my stomach. I chose the kipf

I had the crumbed dukkah eggs on smashed avocado (my favourite) – similar to a scotch egg, only healthier. They also do some nice cold press juices, I had the kale one (in an attempt to be healthy…)<br/><br/>It’s a nice airy space, with a deli and they had a long table for the 12 of us. They also take reservations, which is super handy. I will be definitely be back for more of those eggs!

...I ordered dukkah crusted eggs, a sexy little dish made up of avocado smashed over fresh, crispy sourdough, spinach which had been lovingly wilted to within the cusp of giving up on it’s spinachy world, and pesto and dukkah circling the main event…. 2 perfectly poached and fried egg

Together with a squeeze of grilled lime on our smashed avo, salted ricotta, juicy mushrooms, za'atar, and crusty cut of sourdough - this definitely hit the spot.   Morning Super Salad We also enjoyed a light and zesty salad, bursting with colour and earthy flavours. You can discover many interesting places when you decide to aimlessly wander outside of your comfort zone. Only 5-10 into my little wandering about did I discover a handful of nice little cafes to possibly venture into. One of these were Servery and Spoon. This little breakfast/lunch cafe sits in Glen Waverly Rd not far from Monash University Caulfield. No more than a five minute walk from the university, a little exercise really helps work up an appetite for some delicious food. Servery & Spoon serves up a variety of breakfast options from your usual muesli and fruit yoghurt mixes to an interesting range of eggs on sourdough toast, meat laden options and salads for the health conscience. Near their counter are an array of sweet cakes and grain breads to choose from, alongside some pre-made sandwiches and deli rolls to take on the go if you’re short on time. On the outside, Servery & Spoon appears to be your normal cafe, until you realise that the shop next to it selling breads, diary

Friendly service and a lovely homely atmoshere. The coffee was very milky, which PG and I actually quite liked…reminded us of how our mum’s used to make our coffee :) I was expecting there to be a bit more of a crowd, but it’s refreshing to go somewhere and not have to wait – especially at a place like this, where the food and coffee was of a high standard. I loved my Crispy Dukkah crusted eggs which were cooked perfectly, and a welcome twist to the usual breakfast option of poached eggs and smashed avo. PG was happy with his breakfast too.

I’ve recommended this place to many of my friends and told them about this dish specifically and they too have loved it! Check it out!

Servery and Spoon wasn’t even on my radar until good friend G (bless her) gave a stellar recommendation. She then proceeded to gush over the uber-cute display of cakes and desserts and the equally charming gourmet produce store next door, and well…who can say no to cake? ;) So, in a post-gym hankering for hash browns and other cheeky treats, C and I hurtled off to the Malvern East eatery for a feed that pretty much undid all the effort that went into our morning workout.

With it's funky décor (think mismatching furniture, piles of old books topped with jars of flowers and illuminated bird cages hanging from the ceiling) and rustic looking baked goods, we had been meaning to try the café for a number of months.

Overall although the breads were not fantastic to say the least, the taste of the dishes were not bad and the coffee was quite nice. I was quite impressed with the deco and atmosphere of the place so would still visit here for a coffee or a juice to enjoy a quiet afternoon.

Loved it. Really great coffee, delicious food, large portions & beautiful presentation. Attentive staff. Will definitely be back!

I have visited Servery & Spoon quite regularly over the past years. The menu is interesting and the food very tasty. I particularly like the dukkah crusted eggs and the Bircher muesli. They always make the coffee just how I like it which is a big tick. The juice of the day doesn't disappoint. Our last visit there a few months back wasn't quite as good as I've come to expect. The eggs were not nearly as tasty as usual. I'm really hoping this was a one off or the regular chef was on holidays. All in all a great cafe with friendly staff & good food.
Annabel Robson
Service was good to begin with. However my meal was very undercooked and not tasty at all. The waitress who served us towards the end of the meal was VERY rude and basically pushed us out the door. Lots of eye-rolls for simply asking for water. The set up is so cute it's a shame about the food and poor service. Wouldn't go back anytime soon.

Love! We'll be back :). 1st time to this lovely cafe, perfectly timed given the brand new menu had just been realeased the day before. I had the soft prawn roll and it was to die for. My friend had tbe dukkah eggs and loved them just as much! Staff were very friendly & service was quick. It has a lovely atmosphere & may just be a new fav even if it is a bit of a hike from the suburbs!
Ant
Dukkah Eggs superb!. Had a really good breakfast here yesterday 19/10, interesting set up as you basically sit in a house in a very nice pocket of Malvern East. It is super noisy inside and the bathroom facilities are kind of inadequate but the food was superb. I had the Dukkah Eggs, soft boiled eggs cooked perfectly, covered in dukkah spice and served over a bed of smashed avocado and sourdough bread with a lime and mushrooms as an extra. Coffee service was slow but this is almost a given in most of these places on busy Sunday mornings, food came out in good time and as mentioned was terrific! Would definitely recommend for breakfast.

A Problematic Experience But a Return Customer. Staff very friendly and coffee good to match. But a hiccup in the system resulted in our meals being forgotten for a length of time. Just as I was about to utter words “never again” the manager appeared with a sincere apology and generous compensation to our meals and bill. Food was equally as good as the coffee and what could have ended up in a frustrated walk-out turned into a repeat customer.

Great food and lovely coffee- real pity about the service with attitude...
Storm Ivy
Almond milk latte was delish and the boys behind the coffee machine and register were lovely and friendly. They saw I had my arms full with a baby and takeaways and opened the door for me to leave. Their mums should be proud!

Serving up a treat. I have lived in Malvern east awhile and always wanted to try this place. Took my family there and was not disappointed. Probably the best pork roll I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed their meals, food really exceeded the expectations. staff were very friendly and attentive and relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend for all.

Top local cafe for coffee, meal and goodies to take home

Don't bother. Others will no doubt disagree saying the breakfasts and lunches are great. I've had the calamari salad here for lunch - OK but overdose of salad and little calamari. when you're paying fair prices you should get a fair portion. I've tried other dishes, but for the life of me can't find anything I want to eat here. in reality this place is really just a hammed up very basic cafe. <br/><br/>The service is generally OK,even good sometimes! - but last time I went I had to give up and walk out due to an absence of basic service and courtesy.<br/><br/>There is a sort of produce area attached. I've bought soups, breads etc there many times - no longer - too expensive. I also bought some rogan josh here, which was very good - and at $16 a pop it should be. The last take away meat dish I bought (unmemorable) had practically no meat in it at all.<br/><br/>I said to my wife, no more going to this place, period!

What a great find filled with a varied and interesting menu plus gorgeous cakes at the counter to tempt you

Sloppy service but good food. there definitely room for improvement!!

Average experience with premium price tag. I visited Servery & Spoon last weekend with high expectations but unfortunately it end up disappointing. The coffee was Ok and the food portion was tiny. The real disappointment was pricing which was on the higher end for no good reason. I don't think I will go there as well.

Came here with twelve friends for a birthday breakfast last month and it was excellent. Great food. Great customer service. Will definitely be coming back here very soon!!

New Local. Having just moved into the area, we're pretty happy to have this place as our new local. After a few weeks of visits we feel at home especially since the friendly staff have learnt our names and orders already!!! Love the food, coffee and staff. Food Store next door, amazing! Lunch has been served.

Absolutely love this place! This was my second visit and I brought my dad along.. He couldn't stop raving about his brekkie! Really interesting menu, it was so hard to decide! I had the lamb salad which was delicious. The cafe was packed when we got there, but the staff were super attentive and food and coffee came out in surprisingly good time for a busy weekend! Don't miss their side take away/homeware store! I would recommend it to anyone, looks like they do quite big groups too!

Had a great little brekky here with friends. Coffee was very good! Food also ticked my boxes. Family friendly venue. Lots of delicious looking treats in their shop counter too-will have to return to try more! Def safe bet-Recommend!

Thanks Lisa for consistently exceptional service. This, and the quality of the food and drink, have made Servery and Spoon my not so local weekend local!

It's taken a big dive!!! .... It's taken a big dive!!!<br/><br/>Lack of choices in the usually laden glass display this time round. No salads and very few choices of premade rolls and sandwiches. We were told by the waitress that we could choose from the deli food and salads but found out later that, that was not true. The Menu needs a change and it's too expensive !! Coffee is useless !! Not the right blend of supreme, it's just like American coffee, no guts! The attitude from the waitress, well typical of little up start uni student type attitude, thinking they can rule the world. Well it's not your business and if it were you would never treat people with contempt. Won't be back !!!! Shocking !!!!!!
Breakfast Lunch Dinner
Lovely shop, good food and coffee!!!
Belle
Loved it. Nothing to dislike about this place, it was lovely....

Lost its way. Have been to the Servery & Spoon on many occasions but am now finding the cafe grubby in need of a paint and a general clean up. Staff were happy, friendly and attentive just over a year ago, but now look seemingly lost and lacking in direction from management (has management changed in the last year or so?). Warm welcomes are seemingly a thing of the past.<br/><br/>At this point, my friends and i find it hard to mount a case to go back to the Servery & Spoon in the near future.

Hot chocolate. I find the hot chocolates here can sometimes be nice but are often very watery.
Pablo
Bloody great food and coffee. Lovely service... But bring back the baked eggs!!
Swatsmalhotra
Everything great. Love this place for breakfast or brunch! They keep changing the menu and its usually interesting..I miss the old menu though..eggs are great. Coffee is one of the best but for some reason thy don't do it in a take away cup if you are sitting inside.
Kayleigh
Love this place. Dukkah egg are phenomenal. Lovely service and great coffees. Favourite place for breakfast.
Treats
Really liked the atmosphere and food here. Little shop had amazing looking things. Downside is massive wait for service and food due to popularity.
Julianna
Very average. Went for a late brunch at 1pm on Sunday with two companions, seated at a comfy table in a back corner.<br/><br/>I had the BLAT. For $17.50 it was incredibly average. There wasn't anything wrong, but I expect cafes on the expensive side to offer something special. The mayo wasn't memorable. Bread was nice. The avocado thin. <br/><br/>Companion 1 had the pork belly sandwich. Described as good, but presentation won over function and it was tricky to eat. <br/><br/>Companion 2 had poached eggs with things. Apart from lukewarm eggs described as average.<br/><br/>The hasbrowns were $4 for one about the size of a large Nutella lid. They were thick, with insides gluggy like clag and a mildly soggy outside. It was generally agreed that McDonald's hashbrowns were better.<br/><br/>The tea was by Larsen and Thompson.

We have always loved the food previously but the new menu is very disappointing. Won't be going back in a hurry!
Palate'
Tasty. Was really nice, good flavours, might have to come in again soon :)

Are you kidding. This place does nothing to stand out, lacks any attention to detail and has just average coffee. My experience the first time involved a 15 min wait for a less than average coffee (to take away), not a good start. The second time their chance to win me back was no better. Three friends decided to take me there for lunch and after my first experience I was dubious to say the least. We ordered 3 things off the pre made sandwiches on the counter and a breakfast mess!! What a mess it turned out, my breakfast finally arrived and it was only after asking several times the pre made and only to be re-heated or toasted sandwiches finally arrived. The place lacks any sophistication, attention to detail and is an embarrassment to an industry that already lacks refinement in this country. Why bother if the manager isn't managing or the staff aren't noticing. Very average and best suited to the outer outer suburbs, frankston maybe.

Mixed feelings. Have being here a couple of times and I have mixed feelings.....Went for breakfast the other day and my porridge was close to cold and my coffee was also exceptionally weak. But in saying that, have being here for lunch and absolutely loved it! Some improvements to be made......

Yummy breakfast mess! Kid friendly! Great Saturday service. We came back on Tuesday afternoon to grab a coffee and a cake only to find all of them including the rainbow cakes for the kids were stale. The chai was a really strange blend and was so diluted that it was more of a heated cup of soy milk with cinnamon on top. Might not come back for a while.
Heather Joel
Great coffee, cakes and food - and service - but pls put eggs benny on yr brekky menu. A staple sorely missed!
FeeBee
It appears the owner/manager isn't present there. The staff serves themselves food before us, and packed up around us even bough closing time was still at least half hour away.
Little.miss
Great little cafe with a whole variety of choice. Took me awhile to decide as they all sounded great. Tried the dukha eggs which I was told by a friend was different, but mite try some of the other ones next time. The smoked salmon corn fritters definitely look good and big in servings. Will def be back again to sample the other dishes
Lisa
A delicious brunch. Delicious,a variety of options, reasonably priced. A favourite.
Pousie
Top brekkie!. Awesome local. Had the sweet corn blinis with smoked salmon, massive serve!<br/>Partner had the corn tostadas which were excellent.<br/>Friendly service and dog friendly = winner!
Bazza
Eggs smelt really bad, avocado was really hard and one small slice of toast. Service was also appalling would not recommend.
Lilla Camille
Quaint cosy cafe with the best coffee I've had in a long time. Interesting but delicious food (slow roasted tomato, heaven!)<br/>No sign is visible so it is hard to find unless you walk on foot. <br/>Lovely staff, loved the whole experience.

Deep Fried Eggs. A little too cool for school. Plywood and "Industrial Chic" has been done to death in melbourne i think. We need a new way forward, having said that, at S&S it works well enough.<br/><br/>Food is fresh, wholesome and my double espresso shows that coffee knowledge is on hand.<br/><br/>I ate the Crispy Dukkah Eggs. Amazing!! <br/>Deep fried Poached eggs in crumbs sitting on spinach, smashed avo and sourdough. All sprinkled with oily pesto and feta. YUM<br/><br/>My breakfast partner had poached eggs on sourdough with mushies, this dish on the other-hand was boring and lacked presentation. <br/><br/>If you live in that pocket of Malvern/East Malvern it's worth the trip and would make a great local cafe.<br/><br/><br/><br/>A

Great venue, great staff, great food. We've been to severy & spoon a few times now, and i have tried the moroccan lamb and the sticky chicken with vietnamese coleslaw. Both were out of this world! Sticky chicken comes either as a salad or on a delicious homemade bread, get the bread. My boring boyfriend insists on getting the same old scrambled eggs with bacon and mushys (avo is $4 too expensive), but claims it's fantastic. Special thanks to the beautiful waitress laura!
Nelly Samson
Place looks nice, coffee drinkable, food eatable. All in all, very nice looking cafe. It's fine, meh....coffee does not make you want to go back, it's fine meh, food also fine. No wow factor here at all but pleasant, cool and clean looking so fine to meet non fussy friends here for brunch.
Breakfastbrunchlunch
Thumbs up!. When my wife and I want a little pampering with good food & a friendly atmosphere this is the place we go. The food is wonderfully prepared, the service is friendly. The menus change seasonally so you never get the same old thing again and again. The coffees and real chai lattes are consistently great. Their adjoining grocery store is not one to be overlooked, packed with delicious takeaway offerings, larder essentials, gifts, and home wares. <br/>The only thing is that it does get a little busy over the weekends, perhaps book a table in advance. Absolutely worth the effort. Give yourself a little treat and go to this place.
Honk.
Service please!. Not a big rant and I've held off casting a vote on Servery and Spoon because the food can be so great! Ingredients are always of a high quality and the little grocery section has some fantastic and hard to find items. BUT the service continues to be terrible. Very little acknowledgement, no smiling and no sense that these people want to be there. Don't be a waiter if you don't like people! My other gripe is that it's full of rich mumsy wankers who don't control their kids so it's loud and aggravating. The food is not good enough to make up for that. Sorry.
Katie
Love these guys, great coffee and herb toasties are sensational. Their choc brownies are unparalleled anywhere else. Super tasty breakfast menu too!
Rosiegirl
Great little local. Went again today, little gem of a local. Always a great long black served with a smile. Had a fantastic 5 Spice Chicken & Coleslaw Salad, was served on a flatbread on a long wooden board. Looked great, jam packed with stacks of flavour, mint, ginger, peanuts, much more, was scrumptious. My new favourite dish.
Sandy Soerjadhi
Nothing wow. Menu is interesting and creative, but food was only okay -- ordered dukkah crumbed eggs, the flavour combo was nice but bread was soggy and eggs tasted of old oil. Husband had huevos rancheros, small-ish serving but not bad. Bad coffee: weak and cold. Service hit and miss, but there was one really friendly young guy. Expensive cakes.
Mvitale
Great food, good service, high prices. I had lunch -- huevos rancheros with chorizo, nicely presented and very tasty. The service was friendly and considerate. I had a hard time deciding what to order, most of the (somewhat limited) menu looked quite interesting. The only negative for me was the cost -- $19 for the food alone, no coffee or other drink. I know we're in a high wage country blah blah blah, but for eggs on Waverly Road Malvern this is a lot of money.
Hayley Ashworth
Very unhappy with my experiences at servers and spoon. Have got numerous orders wrong when I have been their, charged for extra drinks that also have not been ordered. I once bough a sandwich that was pre made, 15 minutes later the brought out a completely different sandwich so I went inside to return and they had just sold the sandwich I actually ordered to someone else even though I asked for it 15 minutes before. They did not offer to make up another one either, service terrible!
Miss Mia
Menu has changed and the menu is full of miss-matched items that do not require a chef to put together. We cancelled our coffee order and walked out. Very disappointing. All we wanted was eggs benedict and a big brekkie.
Liddy_lez
Went there today. Was pretty much dead quite, think there was about two tables of customers. Despite this, all but two of the outside tables were still covered in dirty plates of the previous people who had eaten there. We had very minimal service, so much so that when we went inside to pay we were simply told the exact amount we owed, no "thank you" or "hope you enjoyed your meal". Horrible. Incediental of the very average service, the food was actually very tasty and I have always been a huge fan of the space. Undecided if this makes up for the service though, which is a shame.
Jake Berk
Long black was like dishwater, porridge was a big bowl of gloop with no fruit on top (lacked any texture). Fit out & service is nice but that's where it starts and ends for me.
TrentR
Have lived locally for 4 years and only just come across this place now! Loved it. Beautiful interior and friendly service and yummy soy coffee. Need to come back for treaties next!
J L
Food is great, coffee tasted unconventional, maybe different type of milk. Staff were ok, but atmosphere is a bit pretentious. But food & wine list will see us back here for sure.
Kate
Bit cold , staff a little rude. Great interior and look though, coffee is quite average.
Annadicarlo170284
Cool Place. Cool place. Lovely breakfast to be had here.

No eggs benny. Wtf
Healthy_eat
Great service and a creative and delicious menu. Churizzo, green tomato and hash brown meal is yum!! Highly recommend
Littleguy
First impression cute and querky but bit cold. Went as I saw it was a kid friendly cafe. Cute vintage wooden high chair. Went with my 13 month old and wasn't told about kids menu. I ordered a Mexican style breakfast which was very difficult to eat, not what I was expecting as when I questioned waitress about how it was served she gave me wrong details. Looked impressive but not great for breakfast. It was served with corn tortillas not bread and was cold Inc my egg that I ordered with it. Toast too crunchy for my son. By time I ordered from kids menu as I was only told at the end of my meal he was over it. In my opinion not a place to take kids.
Ilovefood
A favourite of mine. Have been coming here on and off for over a year now, love the food, staff and coffee. Must try five spice chicken salad! yum!!!
Zander Berends
Needs to lift. Used to go here all the time, but service is too slow and the manager seems rude and doesnt really care. The coffee has also gone down in quality and the prices of the take away food is ridiculous for the sizes you get.
Cg
I had a beautiful take away coffee this morning. Wonderful, cheery service and just a generally good vibe. can't wait to go back and try they're interesting menu and the range in the cabinet. Cheers & good work :)
Ben
Great service on busy day. Took mum out for Mothers day, coffee ordered on arrival was delivered quickly. Food was great quality, service was good - especially considering the full venue. I would recommend this for a good breakfast / brunch / lunch. Good place for families too.

Addicted. Not going to lie - I'm addicted to this place. The staff are friendly, funny and quirky, the food is great and the coffee (Supreme) is delicious. As a black coffee drinker, I always appreciate good beans, and Supreme is by far one of my favourites. <br/>I love the atmosphere of this place and I find myself coming back again and again and again. Feels like home! For those in the East Malvern area, this place is not to be missed.
Foodielover
My friends and I sometimes come here after a hard workout at Fitness First Malvern, conveniently located around the corner. Blueberry pancakes are fantastic, brekkie burrito is also a good one if you're starving! A little more than I'd like to pay for breakfast/brunch, but definitely a hot spot.
EpicurianDiner
I cannot believe that I had lived in eastward Malvern for so long without finding this quiet little cafe. That could be due to it's lack of glaringly obvious signage and unassuming gait. Greeted with smiles from every direction and a coffee that made me need to sit down, I suspect that I may have just found my favourite new hangout.
Bluedragon2732
Hmm. Servery & Spoon is most definitely not my favourite place to go to for a meal. The cafe itself is a little pretentious. Or rather, it tries to be but there are several key factors that let it down. The menu is limited to all-day breakfast and, if you're lucky, the occasional toasted sandwich from the front counter. The food, whilst reasonably tasty, is very expensive and the staff are quite often none too interested in being there. <br/>The thing that keeps me going back is the iced coffees. My partner and I both agree that they are nothing short of phenomenal. Again, they're expensive for the small portion that you are given, but they've got to be one of the best iced coffees I've ever had. <br/>Servery & Spoon is wonderful place if you're just after a coffee and a chat but a bit of a let down if you're there for anything else.
Terry
Rude... You don't greet a customer with "its at least a 20 minute wait for food". They may be right but there's a better way to deliver that message. Owners need to do something about staff...
Grant
I think S&S has gone down hill. A lot of staff seem to have left and since then service has been poor (I have given plenty if time for them to get back up to scratch). Coffee is no where near as good and takes so long. It takes them about 5 minutes for every 2 coffees, so a quick coffee takes ages. The food very rarely changes either, as they seem to be trying to concentrate on the retail side of the business.
Justanotherwaitress
Sunday brunch. Came here last week, service was slow and waiters seemed to busy to pay us any attention. Coffee was great and the food was good. I had the baked eggs which were clearly poached under all the tomato and other bits. Still tasted good but cutting corners makes you question what's going on in the kitchen. Looking forward to checking out the new menu though<br/><br/><br/>-----17 Oct, 2011-----<br/><br/>Perfect. Went here for lunch today. Had the roast beef baguette. Loved the olives on the side although the salad was slightly overdressed for my tastes.<br/>Coffee was fantastic and was glad that the menu specified the served heat and I prefer my coffee hotter. <br/>Great set up with the cold case at the front, shop at the side and spacious dining room.<br/>Staff were very helpful and friendly, plus being able to recommend dishes is always a win in my book.<br/>Couldn't make it past the passion fruit white chocolate cupcakes at the register and being willing to spend $5.50 is a testament to how good they looked. <br/>Will definitely be coming back.
Ramona Taylor
Happy to travel daily to this gorgeous cafe for the delicious gluten free menu. Coffee is perfect and friendly staff make me feel like I'm at home. One of my favourite breakfast hotspots.
Lilduckii
Just moved to the area. They have great coffee and with the servery window on the footpath I can get my coffee while out walking the dog without even stepping into the cafe very convenient. Love it.
Kristen_P_R
Nice local breakfast spot. The staff are casual and somewhat reminicient of those at 'Coin Laundry' however most of the vibe comes from the young children running around.....<br/><br/>The breakfast menu is limited but quality none the less.
Pino
Bring back the breakfast bagel! Easily one of the best breakfast meals going around but was very disappointed to walk in and find out that it had been ommitted from the menu. Coffee was ok but breakfast was always their biggest drawcard. Now with a different menu, I am instead looking for an alternate place for breakfast.
Rob
Why the menu change. I used to really enjoy this place, seems like it is attempting to target the more up market demographic now with its sparse and expensive menu change ... last time I went I couldn't get a sandwich ... bit of a let down. Plus had a coffee complaint cause it was cold, went and spoke to the owner and she offered to re-heat the half coffee rather than making me a new one ... and was pretty short with me... what the???! Still, the food quality is high and generally the coffee is excellent, plus I like the breakfast, just not liking where its heading with the new menu I suppose!
Munchler
Oh dear, what happened?. As long-time customers, we've always known the coffee could be better but the food was a strong enough pulling point. Now, though, I'm afraid we're done. <br/><br/>The light and fluffy hotcakes are no longer on the menu. Instead, S&S are offering pancakes that are among the worst we have eaten. Dry, heavy, stodgy, with minimal moisture. There's no fruit or cream to accompany. Instead, the plate was adorned with a smear of syrup and the pancakes topped with dry, heavy ricotta. We ordered a side of maple syrup but that didn't help. And the coffee, which has never been great, was absolutely dreadful. <br/><br/>What happened S&S?
Breaky Lover
Loved the breaky burritto. Tables a little small when trying to read the paper, eat & have a coffee. Great food.

WOW!. First thing that WOW-ed me is the massive range and cute looking cakes! Hearty breakfast! With their ever changing seasonal menu, i'll never get bored with the new specials on the board! My top favourite cakes...mmmm...WHITE CHOC LAMINGTON and MUESLI SLICE! Great WORK PASTRY CHEF! Coffee was top class, ever so silky and perfect temperature! The only problem i've had with this cafe is they're always fully-booked on sundays.. guess i have to plan my itinerary on my weekend breakfast better! Wake up early...go to my favourite cafe in melbourne! I'll see you guys this sunday!
Jack
Quickly losing lustre. Service is slipping quickly here- are the owners on holiday??? Be prepared to wait at least ten minutes for a takeaway coffee and at least 15-20 mins if you're eating in. Be prepared to hunt and gather your own menu- despite there being two waitresses on the floor no one delivered a menu or asked for my order. I had to request to order food and coffee- and then the order went missing altogether. Frustrating.<br/>Coffee quality has also fallen. There's a different person driving the coffee machine each time I visit.<br/>This place has the potential to be really good, but any lustre that was there before is quickly fading out.
Lucas Ozi
Buh!. I can forgive the mediocre coffee.<br/>I can forgive the baked eggs not being fully baked.<br/>I CAN'T forgive the horrible insult to pancakes that they served!!

I'm a first time user and felt the need to repond/comment on the previous review. Why is it that some people get personal almost attacking in their critique? What happened to objectiveness? Anyway... Ask all the young families that we know in malvern east and you'll find everyone of them grateful for a kid friendly place. C'mon you cannot be serious, name me one other place with kids toys, Mr Men menus for kids, a kids menu and an abundance of high chairs. Additionally everytime I pass by I feel like most of Malvern Easts mothers groups are there. If that isn't enough we held our daughters first birthday at Servery for 80 odd ppl with a fair helping of kidlets running wild.
Barry
Load of rubbish. Obviously the owners did not do her research before opening - East Malvern ...lots of young families. Why is it that staff are rude to most customers but especially children. Will never go back. Overpriced cold food, cold coffee and the cold shoulder!
C Cooper
Lovely Local. If you're after great service, fabulous food (with lots of gluten free options) and a happy atmosphere, then Servery and Spoon is the cafe that will tick all the boxes. It is always busy but, unlike other pretentious cafes, will never let this affect the speed of service, or the quality of food. If you like your coffee hot, then you have to request this, as they believe that if it's too hot it will spoil the taste, but they are more than happy to help out with any requests. A fabulous breakfast cafe.
Georgia B
Room for improvement, but definite potential. For my full review see: http://fabulousfoodandalittlefrolicking.blogspot.com/2010/12/servery-spoon.html <br/><br/>Put briefly, Sunday breakfast here definitely had its positives and negatives. My partner's breakky burrito was excellent and the barista made lovely coffee. However, my meal (soft boiled egg, toast soldiers, yoghurt, muesli and fresh fruit) could have been improved through the use of seasonal fruit and better timing of the egg/soldier cooking.<br/>I think I'll try this place once more before making up my mind fully....
Coffee Explorer
A Not too bad Malvern option. Went here recently for the first time, and had cappuccino and a strawberry/coconunt/ lime cupcake. Coffee was not too bad, with OK milk texture and espresso shot, would give this cup about 3+/5, definitely drinkable. The cupcake was great, very moist and full of flavour. Would go again if it was on my path.

Ah the bagel, the bagel!!. Last Friday. Day off. Seeking a hardy breakfast to see me through a round of golf, and inspired by friend (and reviewer) Edwin, I downloaded urbanspoon and dialed up this suburban spoonery. Very appropriate, being a big fan of the spoon....<br/><br/>It's not easy to spot this unassuming double shopfront (also a providore) so several u-turns later, I found myself a mid house spot on the long bench - nicely appointed surrounds with fresh flowers on the window sill. Bit puzzled by the huge cushions though which if you use behind you, nearly throw you off the bench! Thankfully the bench also spared me from a place in the back room with the loud gaggle of squabbling suburban mums.<br/><br/>Ah, back to food and bagels.....I have always felt the most disappointing part of Eggs Benedict is the muffin. Never recognised, never put boldly upfront and always sadly looking like the boring tip top variety you see in your local supermarket.<br/><br/>Grand stage entrance to the bagel! The Servery & Spoon's variation on Eggs Benedict is a wonderful mix of toasted bagel, mashed avocado, bacon cooked to a tee, and eggs with piquant hollandaise sauce. Impressive and the bagel gives substance for good golf.<br/><br/>Coffee is great too - I had no issues (like other reviewers) with my strong latte and even ordered a second. Scored well at golf but I lied about the bagel seeing me through - it was the sensational takeaway white chocolate lamington which got me there in the end.<br/>Suss it out....
Brunch Queen
I visited S&S recently and after hearing great things about the eggs Benedict I thought I'd give them a try. While the cafe has maintained it's ambience, this breakfast left lots to be desired. Ham was cold and carelessly arranged and eggs were undercooked. I love this place, perhaps just a bad day?
Ben
Great food, great service. Tim, Tim, Tim......it sounds to me that someone works for Mr Percival? SHAME ON YOU.
Nat
Used to like it. I used to be quite regular at this place, every Weds & Fri morning Skinny latte 1 sugar and some toast, but I just keep getting more and more disappointed every time I go. The coffee is way too cold and has become bitter... as have the owners or is it "Dan" that we need to call them from reading other reviews, now having to bag out the competitors to feel better about themselves.... very POOR form, maybe I'll try the new place Chloe's at least they wont be so bitter ....
Tania
I want to like it - but it disappoints. Servery and Spoon promises so much but just does not deliver. <br/>The owners and staff are not really interested in feedback so I guess that improving is not on their agenda<br/><br/>I want to love this place - it looks so great and fills a need in the area but after going three times it does not deliver.<br/><br/>1. the back area is cold. We told the staff and they turned on the heating but it really take stime to heat up so we moved<br/>2. waiters won't bring water to the table you have to get it yourself even when it is not busy<br/>3. The coffee is ordinary - really a cardinal sin in this area!<br/>4. I ordered bakedbeans and they were so hard - inedible<br/>5. next time I ordered smashed avocado on toast. It came out as pureed - baby style with NO seasoning. I complained and that fell on deaf ears. "smashed" doesn't mean pureed<br/>A new place always has teething problems but I guess the unwillingness of staff and management to be friendly and open to suggestion is really disappointing<br/>I can only vote one way...with my feet

I liked the ambience of S&S, and we received really friendly and attentative service too. The coffee was good quality, served at a sensible temperature and the fairly simple menu looked promising. All good so far... but... the meals just didn't quite make the grade. My "smashed" avo with tomato and feta was actually purred to a baby food consistency and a little too recently taken from the fridge. The serving was a bit stingy on the feta and the cherry tomatoes were a bit ho hum. My wife's spicy middle eastern lentil soup was lacking the wow factor but pleasant enough. We'll try again, because many of the elements are right here. A little more attention in the kitchen could make this a regular weekender for us.
Bel85
Quality and authentic food. Really lovely food, had never been here before but will definitely come back. Also enjoyed perusing their mini store, so many great items to buy, didn't know where to begin. Look forward to heading there for another great meal soon
Dan
The place for me and mine. Servery and Spoon, This is exactly what this suburb has needed for a long time coming. This has the friendliest staff, who are warm and genuine, the best coffee in Melbourne, and refined organic food for all times of the day. I would agree that sometimes the amount of kids can be irritating. But you can't hold the owners accountable for this as obviously parents are just as entitled to enjoy a great funky, friendly cafe as the rest of us.<br/><br/>In reference to what Di has to say, I'm glad you enjoy going to Red Rumba for your burnt coffee and over priced food, it makes more room for my partner and i at Servery and Spoon. Maybe when your done at Red Rumba enjoying your bad coffee, you can pop next door to Mc Donalds for your big mac meal. sounds like that might be right up your alley.
Chickz
Qualityyyyyy!!!. Food is excellent (especially the bagel eggs main) and BEST coffee!!
Liz
Great little local eatery with a range of foods to suit from a treat to accompany your coffe, quality tasty take away meals and a small but well thought out breakfast and lunch dine in menu. As a regular I do find that at tunes the child friendly aspect becomes an obsticle, it would be nice to be able to seat childless folk in a location where a conversation can be held at something less than yelling volume. Another irritation is the separation of foods from what they call the shop, it is not possible to order Danish pastry to eat in with your coffee, it must be purchased from a different counter and not eaten on premise, annoying petty and just the sort of thing that can turn a regular like me into stranger
Mel Phang
Consistently great coffee and the best chai in malvern. Home made cakes are delightful and the ambience is pure gold

Served and spooned!. As a young upwardly mobile person, I was thrilled to read via Matt Preston's review in The Age, that there was finally a cafe in East Malvern of some credibility.<br/><br/>A Sunday morning brunch was my test for the Servery & Spoon, and it did not disappoint. The Organic Orange Juice was delightful and my Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise Sauce and Ham was a perfect stomach filler. The decor is sophisticated and well considered. Modern enough to keep the the stylistas happy, and enough vintage to keep the savvy coming back. <br/><br/>Is definitely going to become one my regular haunts.<br/><br/>Love it.
Naify
A great little find after stumbling upon it recently-really good fir breaky and great lunch options as well.Steak sanga is the go!!
Virginia Jane
Nice decor, good food. Yes, this place is very family friendly, but the food is pretty good (but not groundbreaking) and the decor is great. It is fairly pricey compared to other places in the immediate vicinity, but I guess it's worth it. The adjoining food store is worth a visit.
Di
TOO MANY KIDS. This place was noisy and had way too many kids prams and mums for our group. We were hoping to try this new place out and see what it was like but not a place to sit relax and enjoy food........ yuk!!!!!
Eat And Be Merry Crew
Malvern East has a reputation for being a bit of a black hole for places to eat. While no Brunswick or Footscray, I don't think it's quite that bad. I plan to try a few more places along Waverley Road over the coming months but this week's cab off the ran
