This place is the shiznit. We eat here at least once a week. Slowly working through the menu but everything so far has been amazing. My gfs a massive fan of Wonton noodle soup and says theirs is the best she's had in Melbourne. Eat here asap!
We had a wonderful experience dining here tonight. (We came in just after 8pm when it was quiet.) The ambience was relaxing and the service was prompt. Staff were also friendly and accomodating. Considering that we used to go to the branch in Richmond before it closed down, this one serves generous portions for the same price.
We ordered the ‘pork gwa bao’ which consisted of two fluffy bao buns - a big piece of fresh cucumber in each, a chunk of braised pork belly and what I assume to be the Chinese sour vegetable a.k.a suan cai (which we were not fans of - more of an acquired taste for some, I think). We also ordered the ‘Taiwanese style beef noodle soups’ which were delicious but just had a little too much fat in the beef itself. I’d still come back here for this noodle soup, as the herbal broth was well balanced, and the ingredients overall were pleasant. The restaurant ran out of pearls for the ‘original pearl milk tea’ and the ‘matcha pearl milk tea’ so we replaced them with mango jelly instead. They still worked. Fresh and sweet would be the words I’d describe them. NOTE: Kitchen closes at 9.30pm.
So glad to have discovered this place! We returned 2 weekends in a row. Food has a very home made flavour and not overly salty, so you don’t get that fast Asian food feeling. They have a gluten free section of the menu. The staff are lovely and the ambiance is just right for this kind of casual dining. Will be back.
