Review Hugos Manly - Manly

Anthony Hughes
Delicious, fresh and well presented food. Washed down with a crisp bottle of Petit Chablis. Friendly and high quality service. Location is superb

Hugos Manly Went to Manly by ferry for a walk around and had lunch at Hugos, great location and service. We didn’t have a booking and they accepted walk-ins. For cocktails we had the Tommy Gun Margarita, which was really nice, and the Gateway Negroni which was a real disappointment as it was all ice. We ate the Barata which was amazing and the Pepperoni pizza which was nice. Our friends had the Fig pizza and Avocado salad which were both very nice. #HugosManly

We drove from the eastern suburbs to Manly for a sneaky snorkel and we knew we have to eat at Hugo’s, and we were lucky enough to get a table for two without any bookings on a fine afternoon! The food and service are amazing, we got the usual croquettes, kingfish sashimi and crispy polenta to start, then a delicious fig and pancetta pizza to finish off our beautiful lunch.

My wife and l booked this 3 weeks out as that is how far we had to book to get a table. I had never been, so the ambience and the darkness initially took me aback. I need not have worried as it adds beautiful ambience to the experience. It kind of juts out into the water so the view is incredible. But nothing to compare to the food. I will start this review by letting you know that should you decide to eat here the food is incredible...and so is the prices. So as long as you just ignore the prices you will have a cracking meal. So...we started with the mixed Croquettes which were delicious. One was smoked Mozarella and the other was a spinach and something. Both delicious. We chose a 2015 Tim Adams Shiraz and it was great. For main course we both had the Wagyu Beef with chat potatoes and a side order of Broccoli and beans. Well the Beef was the best Australian cooked Beef l have had in 10 years. I cannot recall a steak that was so good. We finished with a sticky date that was equally insanely good. The other part of the experience was our waitress who was amazingly attentive right throughout the meal. She fulfilled our glasses as requires and gave us knowledgeable advise as we asked it. She wad a big part of the total experience. As well as the wine we had double shots of Bailey's and l had an Archie Rose Standard gin which is just amazing. The entire meal was under 400 and l tipped the waitress $30 as she totally earned it. To sum up it was the finest dining experience we have experienced in the last 10 years. Highly Recommended for a special occasion.

Magic as always, lovely atmosphere good waiters and beautiful location. The food is slightly too expensive for what it is but lovely all the same. (Photos from two different nights) had to come back!

Outstanding across every aspect. Even greeted by the affable Dave Evans, was the icing on the cake. A regular here for more than a decade. Truly the “WORLD’S BEST PIZZA”! Food: 10 out of 10 Location: Waterfront Service: Impeccable

It's always a pleasure coming here. Great customer service, happening vibe and there is more than just pizza.
GFP
Great lunch and lovely service. Crab spaghetti was the standout. We’ll be back.

First time came here based on recommendation.
The waitress are friendly but a bit loud because of the crowd.
The pizza is delicious, as well as the “octopus”.

Taste: 4.0/5.0
Service: 5.0/5.0
Ambience: 4.0/5.0
Price: 4.0/5.0

Nothing quite like sipping a nicely chilled Chablis while dining on fresh seafood at Hugos. There's that view and the vibe of Manly to really relax you. Go for the seafood tasting plate and slowly ease into full-on dinner of barramundi, or snapper or ocean trout. Pick one, they are all good. Service is brisk and friendly and all part of the charm of Hugos.

Hugo's has been a regular go-to when in Manly and not aiming for any particular restaurant. The location is killer, they can always find a space for you, albeit often with a small wait, the service efficient and friendly and meals not overly expensive.

On our last visit a few of those things were missing. The service was ok but distant and a little aloof, way too rushed one minute with four people working on our table for three at once but then we couldn't find anyone to order more drinks from the next. The final straw was that it's now expensive for what you get. Pizzas are $30 and mains are pretty much all close to $40 each and whilst they are all nice enough, they are not good value.

Hugo's has been good to us over the years so we'll likely give it another go but it will be with a sense of trepidation. If it's the same again then it may end up being our last meal at Hugo's.

Taste So Nice! The location is quite close to the Wharf and convenient. It has many open seats facing the sea or the beach. The Crabs spaghetti is extremely delicious and the King Prawns and Scallops are so fresh! Really beautiful!

First time here and the pizza is the best ever!! Dont rlly remember what but i bet all of the pizzas are recommended n worth trying. You also can enjoy the breeze and the sea view at here. Overall its worth the price
Hungry Diner
Such an iconic spot in Manly, well worth the ferry ride from Circular Quay. Either book or get in early for both lunch and dinner. My favourite is the garlic prawn pizza paired with Peronis.

Hugo's is a great place for groups, dates, family events, lunch or dinner with the girls - just about anything! Great ambience at night with low light and stunning during the day, a real waterfront delight in the heart of Manly. My go-to here, especially in groups is the delicious pizza and cocktails.

Hugos Manly was fantastic. We sat outside on the deck so we had an amazing view of the port. We ordered a margarita pizza, avocado salad, rocket & pear salad, chips & a cheese platter. All dishes were tasty. Service was good but a bit hard to get sometimes.
Luxx Food
Such a nice looking place. Location is fantastic as you have a beautiful view of the beach and the once upon a time manly aquarium.

The first visit to this restaurant, I was seated on the deck, best time ever. Sun was shining, seagulls where attacking people for food (only joking, I kept feeding them, there all my pets)

In terms of food variety, you can say there is choices but it’s a matter of what you are after. Trying to find something without seafood can be tricky as it is a seafood based menu, if you are a big meat eater for an example (the 220g steak) possibly won’t do justice, getting a few entrees do help.

Defiantly on the dearer price range, of course being one of the more luxurious restaurants at the wharf.

If visiting Sydney I highly recommend taking the ferry to Manly for a day and eating dinner here or having some drinks outside, the views are to die for. Food is amazing and great customer service.

9/10 Everything about this place was outstanding. The atmosphere for one truly transforms into something else come nighttime, with intimate lighting cast by dim candle bars on every table. The pizza was worthy of the awards it won, with a thin base that's also flexible to match the guey cheese toppings (loved how the ham and pineapple was embedded into the topping so you're not spilling it everywhere). Finally, the desert was something to behold; I had a mouse cake with a soft, crispy, wafery base and a scoop of sorbet. Got nothing bad to say about this restaurant; it's currently the best option you can go for on Manly Wharf.

It was a busy Saturday afternoon. I sat there and I was approached for my order. After 20 minutes, I followed up for my order. After almost 30 minutes later, I followed up again. This time, the waitress realized that no one has put my order in their kitchen. The first waitress who approached me already took off while the second waitress just didn’t do anything. I sat there for almost an hour before someone realized that something was wrong. Only the third waitress got it right and apologized to me. Getting the bill took forever too.

Overall, the service is BEYOND AWFUL. I’m only leaving one star for the 3rd waitress who helped me. Most servers are RUDE. Food is nothing memorable. Skip this tourist trap.

For a birthday celebration, my best friends organised a cute and intimate get together over lunch at Hugo's in Manly. Located right by the ferry wharf, Hugo's is a wonderful and rustic restaurant serving a wide range of pizza's, modern Australian cuisine and a fair bit of seafood (expected considering the location!).
Tom Chard
Hugo’s is ideally located on the Manly Wharf. We sat as a group of 4 and were quickly seated.

We shared 3 pizzas and shared the tasting entree which was the perfect size to share. One of our guests is gluten intolerant and was accommodated accordingly.

Pizzas weren’t the greatest but the ambience was good.

I’ll be back again in summer to check out the view.
Ham Farzana
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and incredible food! Each plate packed a punch of flavour and was well presented. Fig pizza is a must! Would go back anytime.

I don’t know if I’m right, but I recognized the menu since last time I visit Hugo’s over last year. ( or maybe close to 2 years)

Menu hasn’t change at all, at least my 2 favorite menus,

Spaghettini pasta $38 with Queensland spanner 🦀, sun-dried tomatoes, chilli, coriander & eschallot.
Yes, it’s $ 38... however generous amount of crab meat and fresh, it’s worth it. All the combo are well thought and works together.
I know it’s not Italian, they put coriander one on the pasta, but who the f care, if this leaves lift up the whole dish, and semi-dried tomato gives sweet and sourness that needed on the dish.

Pizza, $ 29
Fig; fresh fig with pancetta, Gorgonzola, Roma tomato, basil, rocket and apple balsamic.
Gorgonzola was smooth and creamy , pancetta was salty and the sweetness from the fig was unbelievable.
One of my favorite pizza in town, especially when the fig are in very short season in Sydney!

Is worth the waiting list for 45-60 minutes during dinner time?
With the view and good food you get, you will leaves happy tummy and huge smile on your face.
Food wasn’t too bad. The issue was timing - we were seated outside in the hot sun with no shade, just counting down til the sun set. The views were lovely though but there wasn’t enough of a breeze to make it comfortable.

The restaurant offered a Valentine’s Day special set menu but did not have the manpower to deliver on time as it was a full house. We went to the first sitting 6pm which we were strictly informed would need to finish at 8. We ended up waiting half an hour for starters and a further hour for the main. So the mains came out after 8. We were informed that we would be compensated by having the time extended. This to us was not compensation at all as they are obligated to provide what we had paid for at the least. They should have offered at least a free drink or discount.

Starters (prawns and calamari) were delicious and they were willing to swap the raw seafood for alternatives.
For mains the barramundi was the star and risotto was good.
The dessert was tiramisu and this was average.

If the weather had been cooler it would have been enjoyable. We ended up being very sweaty and hot due to the weather and lack of shade and long wait times. Dessert was rushed at the end so we could make it to the ferry on time.

Overall a disappointing experience.

Hugo’s has one of the prime positions at Manly Wharf which means that it attracts a broad range of people, and popular isn’t always necessarily good. However, it’s got a good rating which means it’s not relying on it’s position overlooking the harbour to make up for a poor standard of food or service. The menu is fairly conventional; there really are no surprises but also no disappointments. Our pizzas were great: thin bases and delicious well seasoned toppings. Fig and prosciutto was excellent as was the plain marinara. My waitress was a ditz though- really annoying. She was difficult to understand and a bit clueless in regard to the way in which food was grilled. I was considering the grilled prawns and wanted to figure out just how they would be cooked: wood fire grill? Gas? Hot plate? Anyway, the prawns were split down the middle too, I guess to provide maximum surface exposure to the grill. Scampi is often done like this. Unfortunately, there was very little colour or caramelisation on the prawns. Garlic was way too subtle as well. Nothing really enticed me to pick them up and suck the bejesus out of them. Our avocado salad was surprisingly tasty given its simplicity. Overall, we were pleased with our lunch. On our way out we passed the desk again and attempted to thank whoever might have been floor managers or maitre’d at their computers as guests came and went. But not one of the three peeps at the desk even raised a head as I loudly thanked them several times. No response. Lol.

✔️ Hugo’s is the perfect location for a date night - I came here tonight with my family to celebrate the end of HSC. They booked us at a perfect table right by the water. The service throughout the night was absolutely amazing - our waiter was very attentive but not constantly hovering over us, which i think is important in making an evening enjoyable. We ordered a couple of drinks, a starting plate and garlic prawns for entree which was delicious and a lovely start to the evening. Our mains were crab spaghettini, parpadelle lamb ragu, mushroom risotto and a pizza. All dishes were very nice - the standout was the extremely strong and indulgent truffle risotto as well as the lamb ragu which was so tender and falling apart so easily. We sat there for hours enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and the great food. Now I understand the high ratings, this place is an all-rounder with their service, ambience, location and food. I would highly recommend👍

❌ Nothing

Food: 4/5
Presentation: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Location: 5/5

Absolutely gorgeous setting on the wharf overlooking the harbour. Truly a Sydney experience! We had a few pizzas and drinks to share and it was all good. There was a slight ridiculous moment when the staff wouldn’t open the umbrellas despite it being a few hours to closing (with DLS the sun is higher in the sky remember, and yes, your umbrella will fade) and rather hot, so we moved inside. All good.

A big fan of Hugo's Manly - great for groups or date night. I'm yet to do it, but a table on the deck while watching the sunset would be ideal!!

There's no doubt that their pizza's are a must try - their slow roasted pork belly with sweet and sour onions was my favourite of the night. Having said that, our shared entree of Beef carpaccio with crumbed egg and truffle dressing was absolutely delectable.

I love the variety and atmosphere at Hugos. It's completely fine to come along for a stand alone drink, but quickly you will be drawn into ordering a tasty bite (I assure you!).
Lilyvann
Beautiful beachside restaurant.

We had lunch at 3pm, 2 pizzas and a bowl chips. The staff were polite and the service was quick. The food was absolutely delicious, quality.

One of our all time favourite Manly restaurants! I come here almost once every 2 months for lunch, most of the time with my colleagues.

We always start with the tasting plate, which has the calamari, king fish carpaccio, meat balls and fig and goat cheese salad. LOVE the king fish, always fresh and delicious. I have tried the pea risotto and mushroom pizza. The pea risotto is rich and creamy. The portion looks small, but it is actually quite filling. Colleague also ordered Wagyu Sirloin, the doneness turned out a bit more than what they've ordered (E.g ordered medium rare, but it was a bit more than that)

As a winner for many pizza awards, their pizza is to die for! I always end up choosing the mushroom pizza, it has the aroma of woody field mushrooms and the oil from the cheese. It is very yummy and if you're hungry, you can definitely finish one on your own. Also recommend Fig pizza and Prawn pizza.

Apparently their cocktails aren't too bad, but we usually get beer and sparkling water. Prices are a bit above average to go everyday, but it offers spectacular views of the water, very good service and excellent food.
Bottomlesspit
Obviously a great location on the beach there. I came on a Friday night and the place was packed. We did wait half an hour at the bar which wasn't an issue and was expected.

We then got sat by a friendly man who looked to be the manager. He introduced us to our waiter who also provided good service. I had the ham and pineapple pizza which was was delicious and thin with generous toppings. I also had some polenta chips. I'd go back for a dinner with drinks weekend vibe.

Alex is an indictment on a reasonable restaurant. Having spent the evening with customers and suppliers Alex with his little big man complex ruined a good evening.
Pollo_pesce_me
Fantastic Italian restaurant overlooking beautiful manly beach. I had lunch with few girlfriends ordered crab pasta, polanta chips, oysters, chocolate mousse and glass of champagne. I enjoyed all the dishes thoroughly. Serving was generous and food was very good with fantastic service. I think price is also reasonable. Ill be back when im in the area next!!

Had a couple of visits to Hugo's and you can't argue with the location particularly if you land a direct harbour view table. The food is solid with out being great and given the plate prices probably could be a little more generous. There is some talent behind the bar with the cocktails very well balanced and easy to enjoy with some nice combinations on the menu also. Service was a let down with minimal attention to the ordering and first and follow up drinks. Looking forward to it being better next time.

Went to Hugo's for lunch. Loved the food and the view!
Ordered a mushroom pizza and chorizo pizza for 2
Both really filling, with a thin crisp base and topped with a generous amount of ingredients
Would definitely come back again, however a bit on the pricey side for pizza
Very excited to go back to Hugos. Had a cocktail here about 4 years ago when we had just arrived in Australia. Were very late as we went to a concert in the Opera House first. Boyfriend checked times and because Hugos was open until midnight we thought kitchen would be open still at around 10 pm (Friday night and Vivid). Unfortunately not, the kitchen had closed early because it was quiet. And then we found ourselves in Manly with not many options. Very disappointing.

I would fly to Sydney, get a train to Circular Quay, and catch a ferry to Manly just to eat the marinated chilli prawn pizza with fresh tomatoes and salsa verde (basically pesto) while sitting on the harbour and watching the beautiful people and luxuriating in the warmth of the sun
Eric Cheng
Great location, great food. I really liked their pizza, steak and fish. Nice place to have either lunch or dinner. The restaurant is on the beach so the view is great. Do book in advance tho to avoid long wait.

Really dug this joint by the water. It's as you expect- pricey but you're paying for the great service, location and food. We enjoyed fresh oysters ($4 a piece), a pizza and chips. Chips were very tasty and pizza was great too. Will be back here to try a range of menu items! Thanks guys!
Leon
Having a pizza and binging on a beer in front of a lovely beach is one of the best enjoyments in life. The pork pizza I had at Hugos yesterday was great. The crust was crispy at the edges and thin enough to support the weight of the ingredients without becoming mushy and soggy after a while. Nice!
Good Food Good Mood
Before MKR there was Hugo's and it was always a go to of mine whenever I was in Sydney. I would jump a ferry to Manly and enjoy an oceanside pizza for the outstanding atmosphere. The place is always absolutely buzzing and really gives me that beachy summery Sydney experience. The ambiance is sophisticated yet relaxed and the view is unsurpassed. A great way to spend a summers afternoon. Having won many chefs hats and even best pizza in the world at one stage Pete's restaurant definitely scores highly in my book
Studioprince
It's one of manly's solid restaurants, good variation of seating options, the menu always delivers, wine list has a good range. The floor manager is always on the ball, while some of the waiters can be 'too cool for school' looking past the attitude ....we love this restaurant and its pizza!!!!
Zomato_pasta
Nice view, nice ambience.

Perfect place for lunch on a nice sunny day.

Staff were friendly, food were delicious and tasty although the polenta chips was pretty bland.
Eatdrinkbe_merry
Been here about 100 times and still can't get past ordering the Angel hair pasta with rare tuna, chilli, capers, garlic, Parmesan, rocket & extra virgin olive oil. They took it off the menu at one stage and I complained....and then it reappeared! Thank you, God! Do yourself a favour and just try it. My husband always orders a pizza of some sort....probably lamb or prawn. No complaints; seems pretty happy! Go for some oysters to start as well. PS. The Mojitos are great too on an hot summers evening!
Nick X Thomson
Beautiful setup with ocean views and fresh sea air. Food was delectable (I had the trout for main: highly recommended) and the desserts were of an equally high standard. My only complaint about the place was the timeliness of the service. Either they need to hire 30% more staff to cope with the demand or they need to not hire what seems to be a bunch of foreigners (I suspect backpackers) who would make for cheap labour.
Foodlover
Great atmosphere, try and get a table booked outside as it has the view of Manly and you will get to see the ferries docking in.
One of my all time favorite pizzas, best GF crust in town, great wine menu, and the dessert is not to be missed too. Have been to Hugos few times and will definitely go back.
Tashya
Delicious tuna pasta dish. Beautiful setting and polite and efficient staff. Great place to eat.............................................
Nancy
Came to Hugos for a Friday lunch. We made a booking and requested outdoor seating which overlooked the water. I noticed right away that service was very polite and prompt. We were given just enough time to decide what we wanted and our waiter helped us choose a cocktail (since there were so many that sounded great) We opted for the Froze which was delicious and extremely refreshing on a 33 degree day. To eat, we ordered a pineapple pizza and a side of chips with Italian tomato sauce and garlic aioli. The pizza was amazing! It didn't have a thick base so it wasn't heavy on the stomach and the toppings and flavour were great! The chips were also good, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. However, it was the garlic aioli that stood out more than the chips themselves. Just delicious! The chips were a bit overpriced for the small portion we did receive however, overall a very pleasant experience and I would be more than happy to do it again.

Shiny, pretty, young staff serving up tasty, fresh food in a perfect setting. Hard to go wrong with this, and nothing did. On a day when the weather was in the mid 30s, our table, looking out to where the Manly Ferry comes in, was idyllic. Great wine, good entrees, tasty pizza, and the dessert was good too.
Aron
Tasty food, good atmosphere and nice staff what else do you want? Had a pizza and steak on separate occasions and both were great. Worth the trip.
Adriana
Absolutely brilliant. Service is friendly and accomodating. The food is impeccable, highly recommend the croquettes. The cocktails are too worth trying, particularly the watermelon one. I cannot wait to come back to Manly and dine again
Bec Robertson
Beautiful atmosphere by the wharf. Cocktails and food are sensational. Great for an afternoon relaxing drink by the wharf with friends or family. Very thin tasty pizzas which I love!! Been here many times and will be back. Wait time is a nightmare during the weekend, despite this down fall you can wait at the bar and have a drink or two. Service is general good; however, during busy days the service is average which is generally expected.
Winedineslumber
Hugo's ticks all the boxes with good food, good drinks, good vibe, good ambience and great location!

On this occasion we were mainly here for the drinks, but indulged in a couple of starters. The mixed share plate is generously portioned, the oysters were divine and calamari packed full of flavour. The kingfish carpaccio was beautifully dressed and melted in your mouth.

However... all of this fabulousness does not come cheap... so keep in mind you are paying for one of the best spots in Manly.

A fail safe location. If visiting for the first time make sure you book for sunset!
Occasionalist
Our main reason for visiting this place was because it was so convenient in terms of transport (ferry). We had just taken a sunset ride on Manly Ferry and night was fast approaching and so was dinner. This place was pumping so we decided to give it a go.

We had the following:
1. Pepperoni pizza: 4/5
2. Wagyu sirloin: 5/5
3. Avocado salad: 4/5

The "appley ever after" was also a nice mocktail. Much better than the ones I had at Mr. Wong earlier on. 4/5

Service was fantastic and quick. Would recommend anyone to visit at least once if they're in Manly. 5/5
Jay
Food was good, location is beautiful although the service was the worst I've ever experienced. We had to ask for our menus after being seated for 15 mins. Then another 20 mins passed & i had to ask if we could now order. After dinner a good hour passed & no one offered us the dessert menus we again had to ask for them. THEN AGAIN had to ask if we could order the desert. No one automatically served us without us having to asking. Terrible. Won't be back for that reason alone.

food quality: 7/10 - pizza we had Hawaiian
location: 8/10 - waterfront views and other nice desert shops around the corner
ambience: 7/10 - nice warm lighting, hip music, but it may be difficult to hear your friend on the other side of the table

The trip on the ferry from Sydney to Manly is fun. Once at Hugos you can relax by watching the ocean and services is spot on. The food and wine is amazing, great restaurant.

Ammaaaazzzing. Walking inside the restaurant, Hugo's has the ambience set just right. The lighting and the buzz prepared us for what's about to be a memorable night ahead. We were a group of 10 people who got seated slightly separated but we pushed our tables together, no problem there. It was a busy Saturday night but our waitress still managed to be friendly, attentive and informative. The table went for various different dishes off the menu, and I gotta say I was unexpectedly impressed by their food quality. Their beverage list is just as impressive, I couldn't fault any of the cocktails and wines we indulged throughout the night. Keep up the good work Hugo's, you've definitely made your remark on my Sydney's must eat list!
Rosie Mansfield
My favourite place to bring guests, lovers and friends. The mood is always so sexy and chic, with service to match. A wonderful place for a Manly local to get a city vibe without having to hop on the ferry.
Randomness_of_existence
Came here on a Sunday for a bday and it was great. It's an amazing location with amazing water views making it the perfect place to have a long lunch. The selection on the menu was extensive with a mixture of small and larger dishes. The prices were a littler exy but for the location it's easy to understand why.
Jmanchatty
a little inconsistent for me, sometimes the pizza is amazing (as is the pasta) and other times the cheese flavour is too strong and gets you stuffed and full way too quickly. A very nice view though and pretty good for large groups as well as intimate settings. definitely want to return to give it another try so would recommend
Maureen Grace Kuran
Amazing view and the pizzas are delicious! Good pricing as well, the service is standard and it's just near the water. Recommended when you go to manly!

This is consistently good, always busy. The menu never changes, but it doesn't need to because they got it right the first time. Also great cocktails. Perfect for a long lunch. There can sometimes be a long wait for a table.

Perfection. Came in on Good Friday. Place was packed. Didnt have w reservation but in 5 minutes we were seated in the best seat of the place. Ordered entree, main and desserts to share. Every thing that we had ordered was scrumptious. Not a single let down. Service was also amazing!

Loverly place and great quality of food. Reasonable price given the quality.

Nice view is additional benefit.

Want to go visit again.

Always fantastic service and food. We go to celebrate different occasions and always go back there. Great atmosphere, lovely wine list and perfect location

A wonderful surprise. Who would expect high quality food and a creative menu in a location heaven-sent for a tourist trap? Delicious salt and pepper octopus, delicate angel hair pasta with subtly flavoured seafood and crab made for a memorable meal. Accompanied by a glass of prosecco and sauvignon blanc. And finished with a sublime mango panna cotta. Almost seemed like the superb views were thrown in for free. Hope this tradition of quality food continues.

Deciding a dish to order is not a quick affair at Hugo's, for the options on the menu do not only look equally deserving of your choosing, but you are constantly distracted by the wonder of the natural beauty that surrounds you. However, I was compelled to order, and my fancy rested upon the lamb pizza. The lamb pizza was simply exquisite in its taste. Chef's can sometimes be tempted to throw unnecessary amounts of feta onto a lamb pizza to add creaminess and a salty tang, however this usually results in the other flavours of the pizza being completely smothered by the saltiness of the feta. However, this pizza enjoyed a light dusting of feta which served to bring out the gorgeous zing of the lemon, the rich tenderness of the shaved roast lamb, and the gentle crunch of the base; creating a visual and sensual culinary masterpiece that will rest among the chamber of my memories for a very long time.

•Food is decent, went there for our company's xmas party
•Pizzas and more pizzas! We had every pizza on the menu, the best was fig with pancetta and prosciutto
•Great atmosphere with waterviews, only downfall is when the ferries honk their loud horns at give you a fright!
•Service is okay, staff are friendly and helpful
Roland
This restaurant has a prime spot on the Manly wharf. It is well decorated and has ample seating area. despite this, it fills up very quickly. So make a reservation or arrive early.

The service was good and efficient. The food was of a decent quality and arrived in a reasonable amount of time.

All in all its a great place for a meal when visiting Manly. The location certainly seals the decision.

Can't go wrong when you grab a ferry across the harbour and settle at Hugo's. Great set up and view. Staff were very accommodating and kids loved their pineapple pizza and I had the calamari. I'll be back next time when visiting Sydney.
Lindsay
We were visiting Sydney and took the ferry to Manly. Looking for a place for lunch we passed over Hugos on the basis that great location and good food do not necessarily go together. But after a walk down the corso we decided to return and try Hugos. We were pleased we did. We had a table right on the water's edge with a great view of the harbour and the incoming and outgoing ferries. The staff were friendly and service was efficient. Both entrees were excellent - octopus and thinly sliced veal. The slow cooked lamb pizza main was very good. No room for dessert!
Great selection of drinks although we settled for a nice cold cider.
@LivForFood
Fantastic Pizza! They have been voted best pizza in Australia and I definitely agree. Base of the pizza was the perfect thickness & crispy bottom! Toppings were generous and fresh - we got a chorizo pizza and mushroom pizza. You dont get the oily feeling after having their pizzas here. Plus a bonusview of Manly beach / wharf!!!

I crave the perfect pizza ... particularly after my recent experience in Sydney on the judging panel for Australia’s best pizza as part of the World Pizza Championships at Fine Foods Australia 2015 or perhaps it's a better and more informed appreciation of it. A pizza is not as simple as it appears.

Went for the first time 2 weeks ago for a long Friday lunch. Enjoyed oysters and tuna for entrees .Had the spagatini with prawns for main and was impressed. Clean, simple taste combination done well. Look forward to going again soon.

Very nice location, especially at night over looking the water. Lovely place to chill as there's a great atmosphere. A little disappointed with the pasta dishes we had and the pizza was good but nothing spectacular. I prefer quieter places so I found it a bit loud. But what we loved here were the desserts and drinks. We usually go here when they have half price pizza deals.

For a monthly reunion and catchup with university friends, Mum took a ferry over to Manly to enjoy some excellent food and drinks with a view at Hugo’s. The group ordered 3 pizzas as part of the half-price special – the pumpkin, fig and lamb options. All of the pizza were very well enjoyed! The star of the three for Mum was the slow cooked lamb, with potato, fetta, rocket, olives, capsicum, onion and chilli. It was incredibly flavoursome, and had a touch of spice, with the sprinkle of rocket on top adding a touch of green goodness to the pizza.

So we order a bottle of Pinot noir (Devils Staircase 2014) which was brought to table aready openned (the waiter says he snapped it at the bar). I watch my friend taste it and her face screws up. I have a taste, yes it is off. The waiter goes back to the bar with the bottle but never returns. We finally order a bottle of wine after we go to the bar. Anyway we have a enjoyable dinner and as we get up to leave I offer a man our table as he arrives to join a another table that are wine tasting. The man thanks us and says no he is trying get some of the boys to go home, etc. We are made aware of who these people are (One of the owners and crew) and so my friend says to this fellow, you can tell them we sent the Pinot noir back and maybe take it off the wine list. Well this guy goes straight over the the owner and co and tell hims. The Bar manager Freddy (my new mate) and owner were very concerned and talking to us. She gives them the drum and the next minute we are over at the bar tasting a fresh bottle of Devils Staircase and it is delighful. The bad bottle may have been open for some time in my opinion and it will go off. They are just all over us and give us a bottle of the Pinot noir to enjoy. The moral of the story, never be shy about escalating dissatisfaction at a restaurant. In this instance the reponse was just outstanding, hats off to the owners and staff.

I've visited Hugo's on multiple occasions and they never cease to fail in providing a great experience. With such a beautiful location, the food is just as wonderful if not more with the oysters, seared scallops and king crab salad being the highlights of the menu as are the cocktails that bartenders have perfected!

Great atmosphere and yummy cocktails, however food was completely overpriced and average at best. I would not recommend going here for dinner.

Delish food and awesome cocktail. Had the best cocktail in a while #VanillaMojito #Oysters #Pizza
Will definitely go back there. Great service and friendly staff.

Stunning water view restaurant, great atmosphere, had wonderful service and got the best table looking towards the water! Was lucky to get a seat at such a busy time! The food was amazing (I had the carpaccio & risotto) and at the end they treated us with complimentary cocktails. Will be back again!

“Ahh, I’ll take midday then,” I said, trying to sound not bothered.

Hugo's has great pizza, 5 stars for food quality! But I like to share a story! I was at Hugo's with one of my dates( I am gay) after he walked out on my as he is a lawyer and a dick) I got ignored completly! I thought in 2015 there was nothing like this any more! The people who work at the bar are adequately trained and should be told to accept anyone! I heared them all giggling when they found out that I was gay and my date walked out! I would be ashamed to work In such a homophobe place

All of the food at Hugos is delicious – from the side salads to the fat chips and the fish that Alec ordered. if you’re after a special lunch or dinner, it’s a great place to splurge on a meal with a killer view.

Sunny summer afternoons are always a great occasion for a booze fuelled dining experience. So it was very convenient to be invited to the Launch of Hugos Manly Deck.

The crispy skin, smooth creamy risotto, the succulent snapper meat… this is a dish defined by contrasting textures and flavours. I break through the crispy skin and have a portion of the succulent snapper meat; the beautiful fresh flavour of the snapper shines through with all the lovely oils flowing through the meat.

For the appetizer, I ordered the crab and avocado salad with Avruga caviar and chardonnay dressing ($26). Delicate in taste, with a touch of buttery goodness from the avocado, this beautifully plated dish signaled a good start to the rest of the meal. The pan seared scallops in the half shell with a cauliflower and goat's cheese puree ($26) were amazingly juicy and plump! Each bite was pure heaven in the mouth, bursting with its own flavors that were complemented by that of all the other ingredients. I expected no less of the main course, and Hugos did not fail. However, if I were to nitpick, I would say that the fish could have been more moist. Apart from that, this crispy skin barramundi with celeriac puree, potato

Think sophisticated beach side chic, very similar to a restaurant you’d find on the coast of Greece, paired with a fresh menu, French wine and an amazing view. Perfection.

Food is to die for – if the conversation is flat at least you will have incredible food to fall back on

Hugo’s is known for its award-winning pizzas, but while I found them nice, they weren’t spectacular (we’ve been back twice since then, and every time the pizza was so-so).
The tasting plate was wonderful, simply divine. It might have had something to do with the fact that I’m a massive seafood lover - I love all kinds of seafood – fish, crustacean and shell-fish alike! We started with the small and succulent oysters, which sat on a crystalline bed of rock salt. The sherry vinaigrette was a little overpowering though. Oysters are best had with a squeeze of lemon and some tabasco, in my humble opinion! We then moved onto the salt and pepper calamari, which wasn’t at all toug

Will we come back? Not very sure if we would come back. I am sure I can get better pizza elsewhere with a more reasonable price.

Hugos Manly located on the western edge of Manly Wharf has extended the functionality and scope of the existing premise outwards to include a deck area with large shade umbrellas and outdoor seating. We travel north from Sydney to check out their new venue and take in the sights along the way. And it all starts with veuve Clicquot Champers. Manly Wharf Deck as seen from the water. Part of the three from the sea from our dinner tonight – Hiramasa kingfish carpaccio with avocado, radish, black caviar and spicy citrus dressing Yamba King Prawn grilled with chilli and fresh lemon Pan Fried Ocean Trout with pea Puree, Shaved Aspargus, radish, Eschallots and salmon Roe. Hugos is famous for their pizzas and we had both the Fresh Figs, Crispy Pancetta, Gorgonzola, tomato and Basil as well as their pork belly, radicchio and muffalo milk Mozarella Pizza – both of which were delicious but the seasonality of the Fig made that a highlight.

Gourmet pizza and cocktails on the water, what more do you want? Hugos has snagged some stella realestate on Manly’s wharf and has become one of the best places to enjoy a snack, meal, drink or night out in the northern suburbs. With views of the harbour and Manly’s esplanade, you can sit and enjoy people and boat watching while working your way through the menu.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
Hugos at Manly is in a prime location on the end of Manly Wharf. Whether you're here in daytime or at night it has spectacular views. It's a modern classy place with pleasant surroundings and a real upbeat feel to it. It's understandably popular too!

Cocktails flowed freely and more importantly… so did the prize winning pizzas!

The popular tasting plate, with touches of Italian styled veal and pork meatballs; Mediterranean cheese, salmon belly carpaccio with a lime dressing and fennel salad; Aussie barbie calamari with rocket and aioli ; and sheer raw Sydney Rock oysters with a twist of lemon. For a capital city restaurant, Hugos at Manly Wharf has a perfect location, mostly perfect weather and the smell of the oceans wafting in. The staff are friendly and try hard, even on a busy afternoon leading up to the Christmas week. Colours surrounding our table were intense, deep hues of everything, mixed with a brightness and tropicalness anyone would want on a holiday trip. Our trip was just on the commercial run Manly FastFerry, with a certain striking cleanliness and staff engagement not often found in the Government run services from Circular Quay in Sydney CBD. The restaurant has tables mainly under a covered out deck, with access to the benign looking sandy beach already filled up with sun tanners, water soa

The pizza base is nice and thin, which made it taste like a “real pizza” – even Lori agrees! My favourite was the Fig pizza with the Prawn coming in a close second.

Hugos is on Manly Wharf, with views across to the harbour-side beach, looking towards the west. And then looking to the south, you can watch the ferries arrive from the city. What a setting for a meal! The breezes blow through the open windows beautifully. Perfect place for sipping cocktails and whiling away the time. This one’s made with gin, apple liquor, lemon, mint and cucumber. Refreshing for a warm summer’s day. Then the pizza arrives. The wild mushroom one, with taleggio, goat’s curd and caramelised onions. Lovely, rich-tasting mushrooms. On another day we shared an artichoke pizza, with pancetta, chicory, taleggio, chilli and lemon. Also a good pizza. And here’s another pizza we shared. The puttanesca, with anchovies, capers, olives, tomato, oregano, and a hint of chilli. As you can see, the pizzas at Hugos are very good. Th
