Such a great little cafe. Very limited seating but can't fault the service or the food. They make the best ham, cheese and tomato jaffle too!
I had driven past this little hole in the wall coffee shop a few times on the way to work and finally decided to pull up and check it out. Very glad that my curiousity got the better of me on this occasion. I have now been back many more times. It is convieniently located on the way to work and I have found it very easy to jag a parking spot across the road.
Pete and his soon to be wife Nat are the owners of this coffee shop, they are friendly and provide you with a warm welcome.
I asked about the coffee they use. Pete is passionate about his coffee and informs me he is all about creating a great tasting quality coffee. The coffee is flexibly sourced from numerous roasters. This flexibility makes for delicious blends of coffee. This time I went for a latte, it was strong, smooth, with and earthy chocolate like flavour. A nice blend using beans form Guatamala, Kenya and columbia.
I also notice that there are 2 taps at the counter that look very much like beer taps. I quiz Pete on these taps, it is then confirmed that the taps are for a nitrogen infused cold drip coffee. He opens the cupboard below the counter to reveal the kegs, very impressive. He even offered me a glass to try. I describe it as a beer/coffee hybrid, that is non alcoholic. Two beverages types that I am fond of. This coffee has a beer like head on it, the initial taste is fruity and a little bitter, very much like beer. It is also smooth and refreshing like cold drip. Would be perfect for a hot day when you are after your coffee fix, but aren't keen on a hot coffee. They have ample stock available too. Unlike many cafes with cold drip apparatus that does not get utilised, due to it being a time consuming process.
They are really on to it with their service. They recognising the cars of their regulars and are prepping their coffee in advance, which was also very impressive.
They also have a range of on the run food for under $10. Salads, bacon and egg rolls and tosties/jaffles. My favourite being the truffle salami with maffra cheddar, definitely recommended. A great flavour combo with a good truffle hit. The wagyu corned beef with caramelised onion toastie is also very tasty. They also have the good old classic tostie filled with ham off the bone, cheese and tomato.
This joint does a good coffee, good for breakfast or lunch on the run and the great service will definitely have you return. Try the nitrogen infused cold drip for something different, very refreshing.
Truffle salami with maffra cheddar ($8.50) may be thin once toasted but comes good with tasty flavours. That truffle salami is a great idea for a jaffle. Cappuccino ($3.50) using custom blend coffee hits the spot for a good coffee fix. Babyccino ($1) is served in a paper cup with a lid and straw making it pretty kid friendly and the marshmallow on arrival is very welcomed by Miss 1 and 4 year old. Such lovely friendly service here.
