Not the biggest fish and chips fan usually, but had a hankering for it this evening. Went to Maroubra and found this place by accident. Such awesome service, and hands down the BEST fish and calamari I have ever eater. Hat batter is to die for and the fish was so fresh. My new favourite place! Thanks and see you soon! X
Love love love the ladies at Barnacles. Fish and potato cakes are beautiful! The chips are not my favourite though. Perhaps a little dry and salt less. This fish and chips is on the expensive side but I love supporting the ladies. Burgers are classic tuck shop burgers and they are good!
Great fish and chip shop! Had 6 calamari and the share pack, 2 fish, large chips and salad. Huge serving, couldn't finish it all. Definitely one of the better fish and chip shops around!

This inconspicuous and humble fish and chip shoppe near the beach is quite popular with the Maroubra locals. Consistent foot traffic, I would say, would be a true testament.
Just behind the beach, and conveniently located, you can come and grab a bite after a swim. It is, a rather plain looking eatery. You know the basic signage and aluminum bench and a bare glass display, you would be forgiven if you thought they were going to go out of business. Anyhow, the bare basic interior serves them well as that kind of fast food jointand it does that job well. It's that kind of walk in and out kind of place anyway. You don't come here for the ambiance or experience, more to fill your hunger.
The menu is rather typical of most fish and chip joints, the probe is extremely resonable and the fish is really fresh. Portion sizes are also quite generous.
To share between 2, we ordered a share plate that consists of 4 really fresh fried calamari rings, and fish cocktails and a whole heap of fries, as well as grilled Barramundi. That was more than enough. I guess everyone has a different definition for what's enough but for us that served us well.
There were a few seats out the front of the shop that you could sit down and chow down your meal, inhale fresh smell of sea and sunshine. Unfortunately, when we were there, it was super windy but you can imagine the beauty of eating and catching sun ray. Perfect combination I say.
Gorgeous fish and chip shop serving up a menu that is fresh and tasty. Bossman Bo is awesome and he will make sure your looked after. I highly recommend the Atlantic salmon! Its perfectly cooked and well seasoned.

Best fish and chips in Maroubra Beach. Despite not being right on the beach it's easily found. Just look for the line up outside the shop.
Fresh fish and perfect chips at reasonable prices. Possible to eat outside the shop or take with you to the beach to enjoy.
Good food, very reasonably priced.
Calamari was delicious, had a great crunchy coating.
Burger was pretty good.
Chips were nice and crunchy.
Got the share plate and kids fish & chips. All cooked very well with good amount of salt and even though was busy, got order made pretty quickly.
