Review Kelbys - Marrickville

elle haramis (Elleshungry - IG)
I absolutely love Kelbys! The portions are so generous, the flavours are in abundance and the service is always warm and friendly! The food will knock your socks off (the Lebanese spices are spot on) and the coffee they now roast is honestly one of the best I have tried. They don’t do anything in halves! Love shooting for them, I have been shooting for them for over 3 years now and I’m still always in awe of their menu creations! MUST TRY!!!

Fast service. Good servers who are friendly yet professional. The food was good. Had bacon and egg roll. My wife had eggs Benedict. Those two items plus three coffees for just shy of $48.00 It's a popular cafe based on the number of people eating and sometimes waiting to get in. Table service.

There are so many brunch places in Sydney and they’re kind of all blurring into one for me. I stepped into Kelby’s expecting your run of the mill brunch menu but it was anything but ordinary. Kelby’s had a middle eastern inspired menu and it’s refreshing to see a Lebanese style breakfast on the menu in the inner west! We ordered the Lebanese breakfast and sujuk hash. Both were absolutely divine and to top it off, coffee was also perfection. Will definitely visit again.

A brilliant cafe offering excellent breakfast / brunch style food with middle eastern influence. We ordered the Orange, watermelon and pineapple juice, Haloumi stack, Kibbeh Shakshoukah, Banana milkshake. All were delicious, well presented and healthy. Definitely recommend coming here - one of the best, if not the best in Marrickville. Regards @fooderarri

Stumbled across this place with 2 other mates and I honestly wish I had been here sooner. Ordered the trademark Kelby’s big breakfast and requested for scrambled eggs with added stringed halloumi that was welcomed with zero resistance. The owner provided extensive knowledge on menu items. Glass of water was served the second we sat down. Cannot speak highly enough of how welcoming the waiter was and can best be sure I’ll be back.

Good coffees however a little disappointed with the big breakfast. Can confirm as others pointed out in previous reviews that there is a surcharge on the weekends.

I soldem review places however after ordering an 'iced coffee' from this place I absolutely had to. They served my ICED COFFEE in this cup filled with ICE. I hope no one has to go through what i have went through but also get I hope they can work towards a new age system called the iced coffee cup!

This is a cozy café and has left the best impressions! Hospitable and warm host, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation. First time in Kelby’s and YOU have to go! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food! The specials are to die for, and the service is unmatched. Thank you for such an amazing and unique gastronomic experience!

Always go there when I don’t know which new café to try! It’s my safe choice! Never been disappointed! Scottish lady is always lovely! :) love her accent too

This cafe is located in Marrickville with their menu offering Middle Eastern inspired dishes. Pictured is their "Kelby's Hash" which consisted of - roasted potatoes, poached eggs, sujuk and hollandaise sauce 😍 And French Toast with berries 🤤⁣⁣ Both were sooooo good, I almost finished both dishes to myself 🤣 Can't get over how yum the Kelby's Hash was, need that recipe so I can make it at home 👀
⁣⁣

Really cosy wooden interiors with halogen lamps make for a really comfy Sunday brunch vibe. The 15% off Zomato gold also makes this one of the best Gold experiences I’ve had !

We got the eggocado (special) and the egg Benedict to try. I loved the ingenuity of implanting an egg yolk into the hole left by the avocado seed. The dish itself was a nice balance of the animal fat from the bacon, creaminess from the avocado and yolk, with the salad and lemon to give it some freshness. I must say that the danish feta combined with the bacon was a bit too much salt and times and could have been used more sparingly.

The egg Benedict was unique in that it came with a croissant. While I am no stranger to croissants, the butter from the croissant may be too much for some when combined with a rich hollandaise.

Overall a surprisingly great dining experience for a cafe outside of the city. It’s close proximity to the newly refurbished library also makes for a nice reading/ study session after.

The most cosy cafe I have ever visited in Marrickville! Small but yet cosy; perfect for a cold rainy day where you can sit in for a nice cup of coffee doing some work.

The dishes I would recommend is their açai bowl, so refreshing and you also get a few fruits in their too! I also highly recommend their halloumi, avocado, bacon with cherry tomato dish! Little did I know, I was going to finish the dish considering how much I hate bacon! But I ate everything and even wanted to lick the plate! That was how good it was!!!!!

We really enjoyed this cozy cafe with an essence of Middle Eastern cuisine. The food was so delicious, filling and beautifully presented! Between two people, we had 3 dishes and 2 drinks. It was a solid feed.

🍳Eggs Benedict ($18.5)
🍞French toast ($16.9)
🍅Braht bruschetta ($17.9)
🍃Mojo mint frappe ($7.5)
🍎Apple watermelon juice ($7.5)

Both the drinks were really refreshing. I preferred the mojo mint frappe. The juice was nice but lacked the vibrant colour in the frappes.

The eggs benny was a strong highlight. A crunchy croissant, topped with smoked salmon, oozy poached eggs and hollandaise. No complaints here!

I highly recommend the french toast. It had mixed berry compote and ricotta sprinkled on top which made it lighter than other french toasts I've had.The use of Turkish bread was unique and crunchy. The drizzle of maple syrup added a nice amount of sweetness. A perfect dessert to share after a meal.

The bruschetta was generously topped with fresh veggies and tasty halloumi. A very healthy dish.

Bf review: really great food, I loved the mojo mint

👋Follow my foodie adventures on Instagram @hungriestsam

I loved everything about my visit to Kelby’s Marrickville. The food was so beautifully presented, with great flavours and the team were really friendly and attentive. We shared three meals between two, which was a lot of food as the dishes are quite generous in size. We loved popping the soft egg yolk baked into half an avocado on the Eggocado dish and that it came with plenty of bacon, feta and tomato salsa. The Klassic Beef Burger which we upgraded to be Hawaiian style with bacon, egg and pineapple was epic, huge! We also added the side of hand cut chips which were super crispy and delicious. The French Toast is a nice spin on the traditional style, using stacked Turkish bread fingers and I appreciated that the maple syrup was served on the side and was a plentiful serve. I had the coffee frappe with vanilla which was a nice chilled drink to have with my meal and I also enjoyed a latte. Overall, a great meal in a cool little cafe.

This is an amazing cafe! Loved every dish and the staff were very friendly!

Was absolutely blown away by how great this cafe is! They’re very busy on weekends but for a reason. Their dishes are creative, delicious and reasonably priced for Sydney. We ordered the Mixed Berry French Toast, Eggocado, Eggs Benny, and two frappes which are perfect for those hot summer days: Berry Bliss and Mojo Mint. Loved everything, but especially enjoyed the French toast. It was so moist but not too sweet, making it the perfect brunch dish.

Located In Marrickville, this cafe serves all day breakfast, salads, burgers, wraps, and you can even build your own fluffy omelette!
Dishes ordered: warm French toast, klassic beef burger and Kelby’s hash. The food was fresh and delightful.
Both hot and iced coffees were awesome (from @vittoria_coffee).

Kelby’s Cafe in Marrickville is the cutest cafe with very good food and coffee to match. It definitely was one of the best brunches we had towards the end of last year.

The portions are reasonable, the service friendly and I love the Middle Eastern vibes to most of the dishes. Additionally, the food is very tasty: I loved the kibbeh dish (pictured). I would have it again. I’d definitely recommend this cafe if you are in the Marrickville area for brunch and you don’t know where to go.

Please note we ate as guests of Kelby’s Cafe.

#kelbyscafe

Marrickville is a melting pot when it comes to cuisine and culture👌🏼 Kelbys is right amongst it delivering beautiful dishes, offering a wide range of flavours, many dishes reflecting Middle Eastern and Egyptian cuisine.
Their French toast is exceptional! To differentiate themselves they serve Turkish fingers, which are super light and soft😍 served with ricotta, bacon and caramelised banana

Kelbys provide exceptional service, the staff are genuine and friendly, you really feel comfortable here. They source their products as locally as possibly in an effort to support the local community which is always a plus in my books👍🏼

When you step into Kelby's Cafe, you are stepping into Moe Issa's home. It was a dream come true for Moe to welcome customers into the world of Kelby's Cafe - the food, decoration, coffee and warm vibe provides each customer a special dining experience. We were seated outside in Marrickville and enjoyed the warm sun, pedestrian watching and the hustle and bustle from vehicles on the road. After we made our order, we waited eagerly for the food not knowing what to expect. When the food arrived at our table, we were blown away with the presentation and our first thought was COLOUR POP!

Kelby's was great! Tried their smashed grub and it was amazing!!! It's the only place I've been to that has done eggs benedict with a croissant. Not the best coffee I've had.

Nice vibes and great staff.

This corner cafe in Marrickville features all your usual brunch/lunch classic dishes and incorporates a Middle Eastern influence to reflect the chef. I love Middle Eastern food so I was keen to try some of the speciality dishes from the menu. I had the following dishes.
_
Kelby’s hash - baked char potatoes, grilled halloumi, sujuk (Turkish beef sausage), baby spinach, caramelised leek all tossed in a pan topped with two poached eggs, kelby’s hollandaise sauce and fresh herbs with a side of sourdough. This dish was so addictive and made me keep coming back for more. What’s not to love about potatoes, sausage and cheese?
_
Kibbeh Shakshoukah - Baked Eggs, Kibbeh (crushed wheat stuffed with mince beef, pine nuts and onion), Chickpeas, Basil, Lebanese Shringed Halloumi, Spinach with a side of crunchy Zataar Lebanese Bread. Loved how unique this version of baked eggs was with the Kibbeh, cheese and that crispy bread.
_
Warm French toast served with house mixed berry compote, ricotta and maple syrup. A nice twist to a classic served with Turkish bread to give it a lighter airy texture.
-
Mixed berry smoothie
Chai latte
-
I can’t wait to visit again to try more dishes off the menu!

Note: I dined as a guest of the venue. All views and opinions expressed are my own.

It was on the high street of Marrickville that I found the original Kelby’s Café and met co-owner Kylie. After a brief chat, I was keen to try dishes new to the menu as well as old time favourites. The memory of the double beef pattie burger was still vivid from my visit to its new Surry Hills branch several months ago. (You can read the Kelby’s Surry Hills review here)

Kelby's Cafe is such a great brunch spot to catch up with your friends and family! The menu has something that everyone will love! My favourite was the French toast with banana & bacon - so delicious and also very photo worthy ;)
Big thank you to the team for their wonderful service and food!
Can't wait to come back.
@carbsmakeitokay

Service was friendly and all our dishes came out together after about 20 mins.
Eggs benedict served with a croissant is definitely tastier when compared to sourdough (the usual combination).

Great little cafe, never disappoints! This is our go to breakfast spot when we don’t want anything overly fancy and in need for some good brunch.

I checked out the Makers and Shakers Market in Marrickville the other weekend: great stuff and fun vibes, and we looked for somewhere for brunch afterwards. Resisting the temptation of the multitude of cool Asian places on Marrickville Road, Kelby’s Cafe was obviously the most popular and possibly the hippest of the Western cafes. Apparently, they are soon to open a branch in Surry Hills too.

Stopped off for some breakfast at this neat establishment. Had the Kelby’s Hash. Without a doubt 1 of the tastiest breakys I’ve ever eaten.
yummmmm!!!!!

Warmly greeted once i stepped in. Used a groupon voucher and ordered the bacon benedict $16.9 plus a cuppucino $3.8. Wow, loved the benedict. It wasnt too much and all the elements all tied well together. Croissant was nice and flakey and the eggs were poached well, maybe a bit too watery. Needed 5 raw sugars for the coffee since i like my coffee sweet. Good location. Happy to come back.

It was busy when I entered the cafe but managed to get a table close to the coffee machine. There was only one floor staff and she seemed lost trying to do too many things at one time. I must admit the service was slow. I ordered the Egyptian breakfast and a latte. It took more than fifteen minutes to get my coffee as the barista served all his takeaways first. This was very disappointing. I had to remind him and even after that he took a couple of minutes. The coffee was served with a smile. The breakfast arrived shortly after. It was amazing and great flavours of hummus and sukkah. I enjoyed every bit of it and the coffee was amazing. I hope when I come here next time the service is more quicker!
It is now tradition- whenever we get to Marrickville, we go to Kelby's. Always good food, great service and brilliant coffee. Today I had the french toast stack which was awesome. Thanks to Moe and the gang!

Haven't been in awhile but when I went, they had a make your own breakfast meal and I loved it! Had toast, hard poached eggs, spinach and salmon which is probably all my favourite breakfast ingredients in one meal.

Pricing is average cafe standard. $18-25 pp without drinks. They also have a self-serve water station with water jugs with/without lemon.

Best little Cafe everrr ! my partner and I are regulars and love the quality food and huge portions !! Staff are also amazing and havent found a better cafe yet 😊😊👌

This is one of the best places to eat, catch up and study. First of all their customer experience and atmosphere was amazing! My friend and I were looking for a chill place to eat and study so we asked the waitress if we could stay for a few hours. She told us that there was a quiet section near the back of cafe and that they had free wifi. That section was actually a pretty good place to study with little background noise and some of the most comfortable couches.

For the food, we ordered the Egyptian breakfast and a coffee frappe. The breakfast was absolutely beautiful. The toast was very crunchy, the eggs were poached perfectly and all the spices and flavours meshed really well. It was also worth its price as it was surprisingly filling.

As a millennial I long ago traded in brick and mortar for avocado. As such I’ve spent most every weekend for the last 3 years in cafe’s. I searched long and hard when I first moved to Marrickville trying every cafe within a 20 min driving distance; and don’t get me wrong some of the cafe I tried were good even very good but they weren’t excellent.

Kelby’s - ashamedly - was one of the last cafe we tried because of it’s humble look before the make-over but one dusty day post-friday-reveres we gave it a shot. And it was spectacular. The plating for even their cheapest dishes is next level, the prices are always below the excessively high rates of other upper end cafe, the food is probably some of the best I had and so very varied. They might not have a gimmicky theme, or etsy bought furniture, or even a 4 foot bearded hipster server but they don’t need that. The place is homely and inviting, the staff friendly, and the specials always spectacular, I’ve probably tried about every one they’ve made since late 2015. If you are here for the first time the egyptian breakfast is just amazing, it was my first dish and what first made me decide to come back. If something with meat floats your boat, the springish is pretty fantastic.

We’ve been going to kelby’s now for 2 yrs most every weekend. Occasionally we’ll take a break from kelby’s to go try out a different cafe and inevitably my entire house look at each other with regret and state that we should've just gone to kelby’s.

Excellent service, excellent food! Great vegetarian options, great coffee! Love it! Would recommend the Egyptian breakfast as something different. The salmon Oceania is another favourite.

Little bit of background, when I first moved to Marrickville I made it my mission every weekend to try out all the cafes that had some hype e.g West Juliett, Two Chaps, Cornersmith, The Marrick, Illi Hill etc. What all these cafes had in common (asides from small portions, waiters with septum piercing & chilli oil) was an air of inauthenticity. This is precisely the opposite of the atmosphere Kelbys exudes. Staff here will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and are also accomodating to alteration to the menu (not always so common I've found).

Kelbys has a uniquely humble appearance. With its amazingly flavourful meals (lending itself to quite a middle eastern flavour) and hearty portions, this is literally the only place for me in terms of breakfasts in Marrickville.

The coffee here is one of the best. Everyone I have ever bought to Kelbys always raves about how well made the coffee is. In terms of food you can't walk past the Egyptian breakfast for an aromatic and unique flavour experience.

The French toast is such a beautiful dish without he usual overdosing of ice cream and sugar. The ricotta and berry compote are such a great and not overly sweet combination.

The ham and cheese croissant is incredible for $7 and my personal favourite (unusual because I'm typically a sweet tooth in terms of breakfast).

The braht bruschetta is incredible and super filling. With lashes of balsamic glaze, haloumi, avocado and bacon you can't go past this for the ultimate breakfast experience.

All in all if you want a quality dining experience for under $20 this will never fall short!

Wow wow wow...

At the beginning me and my friends are doubting this place by the look from outside, plus some more the service from the host that seem lost ( maybe newbie) .

Anyway, we decided to give a try anyway.

These are the damage:

Chorizo Shakshuka
Dish of chorizo and eggs poached in a sauce of tomato, roasted capsicum, Spanish onion parsley and garlic, oven bake and served with pitta bread.
The only downfall because pita bread not even toasted/ heat up properly, as you can see on my picture below.

Kelby's Big Breaky
Egg your way, sautéed mushie, oven roasted tomatoes, sausages, baked beans and sourdough.
Every thing was good but baked beans way too sour.
I believe the bean is almost off, but my friend doesn't agree with me, he said too much balsamic on the dish it changes the flavour. Well you decide!

Brath Brushetta
Sourdough, rocket, halloumi, avocado, dice tomatoes & shallots with drizzle of Italian balsamic glaze.
Can't complaint about this dish!

Warm French Toast.
This is one weird this for me.
Chef using Turkish bread as a base, Ricotta and drizzle of golden maple syrup... ( make up your mind chef... Golden syrup or maple syrup? All You foodies should know the different, yeah? )
Then we chose the topping of bacon and caramelized banana over mixed berries compote as picture shown.

Will I come back? ... hmmm maybe.

I literally just wrote 4 or 5 draft reviews for this place then deleted them because I didn't think they spoke highly enough. I'm just going to keep this one simple. Food: amazing. Service: Amazing Coffee: Amazing. Go there. You will see.

Amazing food, beautifully presented. Fast service & inviting atmosphere would definitely go there again. Can't go wrong with any of the dishes.

This cute little cafe is located on Marrickville Road. Make sure to check out the awesome looking mural on the side of the cafe and get some selfies with it!

The inside of the cafe seems homely and familiar even if you haven't been here. The service was top notch and very hospitable.

The menu will have something for everyone and the bonus is that they have an all day breakfast menu so even if you wake up late on a weekend you won't miss out on getting your fav breakfast items! We visited here as a group and thus allowing us to enjoy a variety of dishes. We had the Egyptian Breakfast, Eggs Benedict With Bacon, Warm French Toast With Bacon And Caramelized Banana, Braht Bruschetta, Springish, and their weekly special of Kelby's Hash. Everyone's pick was the hash. It came with all the good things like fried chat potatoes, sujuh sausage, haloumi, poached eggs and their wonderful hollandaise. The french toast was also sumptious covered with maple syrup and served with toffee like bananas and bacon. Of course bacon makes everything better and featured on many of our dishes. The benedict was also a twist on the usual as it is served on a fluffy croissant.

If you haven't been here, definitely stop by and try them out. I'm sure it'll be your neighbourhood favourite.

Food was good but it took way too long to arrive. We won't be back which is a shame. It wasn't so busy either so the wait was really unacceptable.

Kelby's cafe is cute little space in the heart of marrickville.
Take your seat outside or in, order yourself a coffee in one of the fav little tea and saucer cups and you'll be particularly pleased with the leaf brewed chai lattes. A good menu with a range of healthy fruit salads and indulgent meals like benedicts or burgers, there's something for everyone.
We were in a group and decided to share, opting for all the specials to get a taste of everything. We had the chill scrambled eggs, and green eggs but the crown favourite was the omelette cooked with potato and feta with a side of toast. Kelby's hash was another winner with chat potatoes, baby spinach, leek haloumi and sujak sausage, being topped with eggs and benedict sauce.
A space that seems newly renovated and it's bright and welcoming inside. They also have extremely hospitable staff and lovely food all round.

I love finding little gems that locals love and am so pleased to have discovered Kelby's. It has been around for many years and the past 3 years has seen new(ish) owner Moe doing up the interior and creating a new menu that have many traditional dishes with a modern, Middle Eastern flair to them which I love. It was so difficult to make a choice from the interesting menu & specials but first up was the Egyptian breakfast - a slice of sourdough holds sauted sliced sweet potato, rocket, house made hummus, fetta, poached eggs & an AMAZING house made dukkah. It was a healthy flavour bomb and every bite felt nourishing, tasty and comforting.

Next was the beautiful looking Braht Bruschetta. It was a generous pile of delicious colours in the form of dark green rocket leaves on top of a slice of sourdough topped with grilled white halloumi, bright red tomatoes, dark hued super crispy bacon topped with a fan of sliced avocado, a sprinkling of greenary in the form of shallots & a dark, sticky balsamic glaze drizzled around the plate. It was beautiful to look at and the flavours danced beautifully in the mouth.

One of the specials chosen was the green eggs - pesto scrambled eggs was super flavoursome topped with rich, oily smoked salmon & 2 poached eggs. It's a little twist on the traditional & it was super tasty.

Then comes the French Toast. It was my first time having Turkish French toast and this was the perfect bread to use. It was not overly eggy and the soft sponge of bread soaked up all the delicious flavours in this dish from the caramelised bananas to the crispy, salty bacon & the sticky maple syrup. It was also my first time having bacon in a sweet dish and OMG what have I been missing out on all this time??? It was so delicious and the contrast in flavour and texture of the crispy bacon & soft bread and banana was sensational.

To finish off, we had the crumpets with whipped cream and house made jam. Loved all the berries in the jam & the fact that it wasn't too sweet, more like a thick compote and you can taste the quality of the ingredients used instead of just sugar. The house made carrot cake came as individual rounds and were dense, moist and the perfect size for a treat. Perfect with their really well made coffees.

No wonder this cafe is heaving with people and are busy weekdays and weekends alike. It has fantastic tasting and looking food, super friendly service from not only the staff but also the owner Moe who smiles and checks on all the customers. It's also very family and kids friendly with a kids' room/play area out the back with toys and books. Oh and did I mention the great food and super crispy bacon? A must visit!
George Forgan-Smith
Food here is tasty. Service is crap.
Waited > 20 min for a coffee "because there are lots of take away orders". We had to ask to order our food 3 time. Spoke with 2 different wait staff. Both forgot to return to take our order.
So apparently people ordering food, sitting down and payment more for the service are downgraded.
This place has good potential but the execution is hopeless.

Hip and down to earth is the only way to describe Kelby's cafe in Marrickville. This corner cafe is boasting with character and charm. The cafe's new owner Moe, is a lovely guy who genuinely loves his craft. You won't find him out the back doing paper work, he'll be serving you coffee, taking your order and just generally being around for some great conversation.

He has set up a very good menu that has a large variety of traditional and unique dishes. The cafe also trials new specials on a weekly basis and extends them based on popularity.

Upon our visit we were lucky enough to try a few of the dishes. Firstly we had the Egyptian breakfast which was sourdough bread topped with chickpeas, sweet potatoe, hummus, danish fetta, two poached eggs and spinach. The flavors were great and really refreshing. The hummus was creamy and smooth.

We didn't stop there, next up was the special of the month. Chilli scrambled eggs with halloumi, avacado and topped with paprika Aoli. Absolutely fantastic, with a real bite to it.

Next up was the French toast covered in maple syrup topped with fried banana and bacon. What a treat, the mix of savory and sweet really hit the spot.

To finish off was a great coffee with some warm crumpets topped with fresh jam and cream.

The service was fast and friendly the food delicious and the ambiance very cool.

One of the best cafes I have been to in Sydney. Located on a busy street, Kelby's cafe is in an ideal location.

I was approached immediately by a staff member when I entered the cafe, and was directed to a table. The owner and staff had excellent service and were very friendly and helpful in their recommendations.

Service time was perfect; a juice and smoothie were brought out first, in about 10 minutes followed by two meals which took about 17 minutes.

I loved the design of the cafe and was told by the owner that it has been recently renovated. The light bulbs and walls gave the cafe an industrial look. I also liked how some of the menu was written up on mini blackboards, it made reading the cafes specials more interesting.

I ordered the 'naughty omelette' with feta, sage and potatoes. This was fantastic and I will definitely order it again. It just had the right portion of each ingredient, and it also smelt amazing. Although its called the 'naughty omelette' I thought it was healthy and didn't feel bad about eating it ;)

I also tried scrambled eggs with hummus, sweet potato and dukkah. This seemed like an Egyptian style dish and it had pieces of hazelnut around the plate. Presentation was great and tasted great as well.

They have a variety of juices and coffee. I ordered a berry smoothie and that was very refreshing.

As for parking, I found street parking right next to the cafe. If there is no parking on Marrickville road, there are plenty of side streets to park.

I highly recommend Kelby's cafe, great service and food :)

Check Sydneyfoodfrenzy for a great insta pic!

Have been visiting Kelbys for a few years now .. such a warm team of staff and the food is WORTH the money.. good quality and quantity i have to say.. hats off to the chef!

This place is busy for a good reason.
It's good honest affordable.
Service is attentive and fairly efficient. There seems to be a nice exotic touch to most offerings on the menu ~ Egyptian maybe?

I decided to visit on a very cold day in winter a few months ago. I tried the Nomy Omy which is a type of omelette including jalapeños, ham with two types of cheese. The dish was good and very filling, if anything a little too large a serving. I wasn't able to finish it but it was definitely nice.

It was quite busy at the time of visit and the dish and coffee took a while to come out, probably too long assuming you were busy.

I visited again to have a chicken sandwich and again it was fresh and everything tasted nice but it took a while to come out. The coffee was very nice and had a traditional look to it.

The interior is nicely set up in a traditional type of design with wood and bricks featuring and feels quite different from the rest of Marrickville. Although the service was nice enough, the meals as mentioned did take a while to prepare.

Welcoming as soon as you walk in the door, super helpful and fast service. The food was delicious, beautiful Mediterranean food! Will be back!

Cozy medium sized cafe.. Had the hawaian burger which was humongous, though taste wise it was pretty standard. The service was pretty slow. Took a while to be attended when I just got in to get a table. Took a while for the order to be taken and for food to come out. Coffee was okay.

Best Cafe EVER! Always have an amazing meal here. Never disappointed - no matter what I order it's always delicious! Best cafe in Sydney! Actually, best cafe I've been to anywhere.

Had garlic mushrooms on toast with bacon. Very nice and large serve. Puppy bowl on request and good coffee. Free wifi if you request the password. Well worth the visit.

The food is great here and the portions are massive. Coffee is yummy too, but the staff could be a bit friendlier considering we get coffee from them all the time. They don't even bother making conversation or remembering your order.

A neighbourhood hangout for parents and kids, with a back room kitted out with toys and sofas. In a sea of Marrickville, hipster cool, Kelby’s is definitely not a place for the poseurs. It’s an old school, neighbourhood cafe. Old school, in that it serves generous, portions of everything and is laid back and friendly. This is a cafe for all ages, attracting a clientele of loyal locals who know their plates will be stacked high every time they visit. It’s the perfect place for parents to feel comfortable even with a gripey baby or grumbling toddler in tow. And if you are a family that feels like a bit of privacy, there is a comfy, homely room out the back which seats 8 people and can be booked ahead of a visit. This space feels like someone’s living room and is decorated with posters for local events and is complete with cushions, throws and couches to clamber.

Best. Brunch. Ever. Seriously wow. Marrickville is becoming one of my favourite suburbs with so many awesome cafes. When we sat down and opened the menu, we had no idea what to get! Everything looked so tasty and delicious. The prices were decent around 15 dollars, give or take. Linda and I wanted to try a billion things. We wanted to get a bit of everything. Eventually we settled on getting French toast, Salad and an omelette to share. However, when we were ordering the kind waitress told us that the French Toast was massive. Supporting Local Artists I ordered a coffee frappe and Linda got the banana smoothie. The smoothie was a bit runny and not the best consistency and the frappe wasn’t anything amazing for $6 but once again, it was huge. Taking her advice, we decided not to get the salad and just get the french toast. Good decision. Very very good decision. When the french toast came, it was massive! It was like a tower. The french toast came with ricotta, bacon and caramelised ban

Kelby’s Café in Marrickville is my ‘I have to take you here’ place whenever I have visitors. It’s cool without being hipster and friendly without being over-bearing. The atmosphere is so comfortable that you’ll find yourself stopping mid ‘too much information’ sentence forgetting you’re not in your anything goes living room. Trying my hardest not to sound like an infomercial here but unlike some places that claim to use the ‘freshest’ ingredients, Kelby’s actually does. The menu is innovative and inventive, using a unique combination of flavours and textures.

This place is one of my favourite places for breakfast in Marrickville. It has a real local feel about the place and the food is great too. The inside is nothing fancy, but the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is simple but delicious. It's no wonder it is always busy on the weekends. Having usually eaten from the breakfast menu, this time I opted for the lunch menu - a steak sandwich, whilst my partner got the special of the day. Having tried a bit of both, I would say the breakfast menu is probably their strength. The steak sandwich whilst nothing bad, was nothing to rave about either. The omelette however was super yummy. Special omelette of they (haloumi, mushrooms, chives,) with garlic toast and salad side ~$11 Steak Sandwich w/ beetroot relish, tomatoes, lettuce on turkish ~$11.50

I couldn’t go past the garlic mushrooms on toast and added avocado and sausage, which was chorizo at $3 each. The garlic mushrooms were scrumptious and the chorizo cooked to perfection. It was indeed the breakfast that I needed and wanted.... Service is friendly and definitely baby friendly! I would happily go back again to try their French toast or even their sandwiches – they sound delish!

Unpretentious, generous brunches. Value for money, delish and laid back staff. Must say the Dukkah eggs are only so/so in my opinion, but the french toast... !

Best big breakfast in sydney hands down.

Excellent value. This cafe under-prices and over delivers every time - it's my go to place for a good, simple breakfast. I'm happy to pay top dollar for magical eggs benedict on toasted brioche with celery salt and pixie dust on occasion, but if I just want bacon, eggs, toast and a salad for $11.50 Kelby's delivers every time.

The only time I had an issue was when we ordered poached eggs cooked hard (pregnant), and they came perfectly cooked - so we had to send them back!

A couple of standouts from the menu are the breakfast bruschetta, and the juices and smoothies which are very genrously sized.

Not such a good experience. Mmmm,. I should be raving about this place but struck something nasty and bitter in a salad. Was on a short lunch break so didn't bother having the "discussion" with the staff but do realise I should have. It was really awful and I searched around in my car for mints to get the taste out of my mouth but it was with me most of the afternoon. Sadly I haven't ventured back.

Visiting Sydney and this is the best coffee I've had here so far. Food was delicious too - a little too salty perhaps but delicious nonetheless.

Went to Kelby's last Sunday & we started with coffee which was ok (not as great as many I the reviews), when the staff came back to take our food order they warned us it would be a 20-30 minute wait, we weren't in a hurry anyway. Lucky! After about 20 minutes & no sign of food, we ordered another large coffee. We finished the 2nd coffee & still no food! We were outside & no staff came to say anything to us, just as I was about to go ask if it would be much longer, the food arrives, more than 50 minutes after we ordered. I don't care how busy a place is, 50 minutes for a breakfast meal is rediculous & the cafe was only a little over 1/2 full. We had a mexican breakfast wrap (no wraps so it was on toast) & poached eggs with tomato & beans on a muffin. The food was good, the eggs & homemade beans were a highlight. I won't be hurrying back, but the food was good enough I'll give it a try again so other day

We waited a VERY long time for our breakfast, in their defense they said they were busy, although it didnt really look it. Service was friendly although they tried to take my plate away before my friend has finished his meal. Egyption sauté - good but boring, could do with something with some bite added to it like salmon. Big Breakfast - good on whole, homemade beans had some spices that didn't really go with them. Coffee was good.
