Interesting strongly flavoured, rough, hot and strong coffee. It could have done with more cream but it was great. Double Tap also has a lot of simpler, cheaper meals and my toastie had great ingredients. With lower coffee prices as well, this could be the best value of the trendy coffee places around here.
We love venturing to a different cafe for coffee, especially those places where the coffee is excellent but the staff are also friendly and not at all arrogant. That is certainly the case at Double Tap. This neighbourhood cafe in Marrickville can be found in the backstreets amongst factories and plenty of mechanics. It is quite hard to find a car spot but take your chances, for it is worth a visit!
This would have to be my new favourite cafe in Marrickville based on my first impressions. Nice fit out, great coffee, very reasonably priced menu with nothing over $12, welcoming friendly service and even the toilet out the back is well presented. Definitely a local gem I wish was closer to home. Love the flavour in my Cappuccino ($3.50) using a house blend with lots of stretchy froth for the win. Avocado on Toast ($8) using Penny Fours sourdough has a good amount of avo, nice flavour and a great sourdough. A little wedge of lemon to squeeze and some extra spiced dukkah could perhaps be a nice addition as well like they did at Parma.

Homemade cakes are looking good especially the Victoria Sponge with Strawberry Compote & Fresh Cream for a reasonable $6.50. Looking forward to revisiting with the family for their Granola with seasonal poached fruit ($8.50) and Free range ham with Swiss cheese toastie $6.50).
Stopped by for a mid morning brew and Daniel the owner was there (formerly of Coffee Alchemy) and he was working away serving the customers.
A friend recommended we try this place and the coffees were spot on. A lovely brew and the Mocha and Flat Whites were excellent. Nice coffee art too. The service is great and make sure you order and pay at the counter first. Lots of seating inside and out.
Wouldn’t mind trying the food next time.
