Such a great discovery! Does not look very fancy but the quality is there! Service is friendly. Food is so good and generous. Prices are reasonable. So glad to have found this place. Will definitely go back
My bf and I came to this restaurant because we were craving some jap food. We had takoyaki, sashimi and chicken katsu udon. Everything was delicious, but we found some bones in our salmon sashimi which was a let down. The service was not that great either, they seemed like they were fed up and had a long day so I can understand.
Lovely small, unassuming and affordable Japanese restaurant in the Inner West.
There were so many options we couldn't decide yet the wait staff were very patient with us.
We ended up getting:
- Takoyaki balls: delicious and crispy outer with little pieces of octopus inside. The sauce and bonito flakes completed the dish
- Spicy rolls: you get two choices (tuna or salmon). We got salmon and wasn't disappointed. Not extremely spicy which was nice
- Gyu don: big serving of rice, onion and beef slices that comes with miso soup
- Teriyaki chicken rice set: has teriyaki chicken, rice, miso soup, a side salad of cabbage and tomatoes and some pasta salad
Overall would come back.
Food was great, service was great, and ambience was great! We sat down and were given water and glasses straight away. We ordered sushi and dumplings, miso soup and green tea. The miso soup and green tea arrived quickly, followed by dumplings, then our sushi. We thanked the staff, including waitress and kitchen staff, and the three of them smiled and bowed to us, thanking us warmly. We'll be back again sometime for sure.
Great Japanese haunt. Tried almost everything on the menu, which is consistently good. Service is friendly and efficient all the time. Gets busy on weekend dinner hour.
Always great service, consistently good quality food and great sushi.
I go here often and am never disappointed, my favourites include the shogayaki (ginger pork), tempura assortments, sushi, and the Japanese style curries.
We had a lovely meal at Sakae. The food was delicious, the waitress was so gracious and it was not as expensive as Japanese restaurants generally seem to be. We had about 9 dishes shared between 8 people and it cost approx $15 per head. Great value and we were all satiated!
Arrived at 8.30pm on a Sunday, when they close at 9 not expecting much from a small sushi joint. However the restaurant is one of the little gems of the area, serving the best Japanese sushi/food in the area. The service itself is a highlight as the servers show so much care and dedication as they seat you and take your order.
Ordering the aburi salmon sushi, tempura roll and okonamyaki, everything arrived promptly and remained high quality. The tempura roll whilst small had a delightful filling and the aburi salmon could of done with more seasoning sauce but did not disappoint.
Would def recommend for sushi lovers in the area, and to go here inside of the falsely review Zen Enso across the street lmao
8.5/10 food
10/10 service
10/10 ambience
Good suburban, family friendly Japanese restaurant.
My kids love the oyako don and the deal with sashimi makes it good value. Decent service although can get quite busy around 6- I guess this is when all the families come!
Reliable Japanese restaurant. People behind the kitchen are trained Japanese. Although some of them are relatively young. They do give you Japanese dish on your table.
