We bought:
6 portions of 1/4 atl chook 3.75/5, âatlâ is an acronym for ayam tulang lunak, literally soft bone chicken, which has been marinated w various spices (dont ask as i have no idea lol), cooked in a pressure cooker, then dunked into a deep fryer. Served w rice/tapioca (deep fried) flakes as a garnish or with salted egg âgravyâ. Lesser known than the normal ayam goreng (indo fried chook), ayam kalasan (indo chook w sweet soy sauce n spices), ayam bakar (indo roast chook), ayam goreng mentega (butter fried chook), ayam woku, atl is nonetheless super enjoyable. Try it if you havent. The free sambal is bloody hot, even for me. So use sparingly.
Atl meal pack; rice, atl chook, sayur asem (indo tamarind veg soup), fried tofu/tempeh. Pretty good value.
Roasted petai stinky beans, an acquired taste, believed to help w digestion, lower blood pressure, hangover n even depression, it is usually stir fried w garlic chilli n prawns. This was served as is. Which is a more potent form of warding off unwanted attention from peeps youâd rather not get too intimate with. A good side dish along w the atl chook or as an appetizer.
Chook noodle mee ayam 2.75/5, no biggie, better indo noodles elsewhere like my delights just up the road.
Gado2 indo salad w tofu n peanut dressing. The salad was all good except the peanut dressing lacked punch n depth. Wonder why they chose to make it mild when the sambal was so deadly.
Great food, loved the ayam crispy telor asin, delicious sambals. One thing for sure if you ever come visit, order the sambal mangga muda. on the contrary, the resto is quite confined (although it feels quite homey) but its a very2 small blotch in an otherwise awesome visit.
The soft bone chicken is so good at ATL! It's also kind of off-putting to eat soft bones, but once you get past that, it's awesome. The fried rice is decent. And the kangkung is always a winning vegetable side to order.
I am gutted that I can't put a picture of the food to this review because I have eaten it all. They are too good!!!
It is the most amazing chicken dish ever and it never dissapoint. You. Must. Try. Now.

Soft-bone chicken you won't be able to get anywhere in Sydney. This place is a definite must for all chicken lovers. The Ayam Goreng Tulang Lunak never disappoints. The kangkung kind of lost its way. Wasn't really cooked well.
This restaurant has now moved to MASCOT. This restaurant is the former ATL Ayam Tulang Lunak (319 Anzac Parade
Kingsford) which has now closed. Peter and his family have opened their new restaurant in Mascot on Botany Road, and have now been operating for the last two weeks. It is called ATL Ayam Tulang Lunak Crispy and is located at Shop 1
702-710 Botany Road, Mascot NSW New South Wales 2020
Already "word of mouth" has been active and the restaurant is busy with locals and former customers in search of good, flavoursome Indonesian cuisine.
The menu is the same as the former Atl Ayam Tulang Lunak with a good selection of Indonesian favourites.
So if you loved Atl Ayam Tulang Lunak - now it is closed go to its new place called ATL Ayam Tulang Lunak Crispy!

Sniffing around Kingsford we're super happy to discover ATL Ayam Tulang Lunak has appeared since our last recon mission. Fried chicken fiends rejoice because it's run by the folks behind the legendary ATL Maranatha . We love the new shop, it's just so old school beautifully daggy resto brown furniture cool. We can't remember what was in this space previously but it looks like they haven't changed a thing apart from sticking up a menu and throwing around some tables and chairs, probably from their old restaurants. The folks that run the place are relaxed and friendly and so too are the punters, fried chicken makes people happy. The menu is identical to ATL Maranatha, and there's still the same nifty no-fail self -ordering system (write down your order hand it to the waiter). We feel at home. #1 on the menu is the classic ayam goreng tulang lunak - $8. A quarter piece of deep fried soft boned chook (choose thigh or breast). It's so hardcore fried and covered in light crunchy sprinkles that it takes us a couple minutes to notice the camouflaged piece of fried tempeh on top. Ayam Tulang Lunak is a must-try for fried chicken fiends. The chook (or duck) is slow cooked in a pressure cooker for hours then deep fried resulting in a bird so tender that the bones are soft and edible. The batter is a textural wonder, so light and crisp. Beware, that side dollop of sambal packs serious chili heat. Burnies!
Indonesian Cuisine. 1. food - The signature chicken dish (ayam goreng tulang lunak) was the best, crispy fried chicken and edible soft bones. Generous serving and cheap.
2. customer service - Friendly, quick service.
