Review Roule Galette Melbourne - Melbourne

Dom Piet
Had the famous Suzette with an extra crepe. Was just what we needed. Not too sweet, soft and buttery with the sauce. The flambé was cool. Hot chocolate with the house made cream was beautiful. Again, not sweet but light and creamy. The chocolate flavour was delicate and just right for us. Great dessert place, highly recommended!

Super friendly (and cute) staffs! Nice vibes during dinner time. Would recommend the ones with spicy sausage (e.g. Atlas), which is not really spicy but really tasty. Good place to catch up with friends or enjoy some time with the loved one. Good quality-quantity balance! Will definitely come back soon.

What a delicious little place. Amazing crepes, good coffee. Lovely staff with beautiful accents. Almost felt like we could have been abroad for a sweet minute or two.

Great People, food and Service. Very welcoming staff and great food. French decor added a nice touch. They have moved couple times in the same lane. The home made caramel sauce on the rivière pancakes was so delicious, must try! One of Melbournes best spots.

I had passed by a few times, but it was always busy. Today I timed it right and got to try a Galette. It was delicious and reminded me of Breton cuisine from times past. I looked longingly at the milkshakes and creamy deserts that others were having, but my coffee and Galette were both great and I needed nothing more. The service was good and I was brought water without having to ask.

The one and only crepe place to go!! Both sweet and savoury varieties are delicious. Can have a line forming up during busy periods, but if you're prepared to wait the reward is worth it

A fine French cage, Roule Galette's limited menu emphasizes their strengths in all the right ways. Though limited on variety, the fare is tasty and the staff is unerringly polite and kind. The space is cozy, though feels a bit spare. Roule Galette is worth a short wait in line, and very much worth checking out for those in this part of Melbourne.

I loved everything about Roule Galette! They had a great selection of both sweet (crepes) and savoury (galette) dishes, and the portion was just right. The Roule Galette Complete, one of their most popular, was packed with delicious ham and cheese, and their classic crepe Suzette was light and refreshing. Although a bit tight inside (despite the new venue) the ambiance remained cosy. The staff were super friendly too. Definitely one of my favourite eateries!

Tiny cafe just off Port Phillip Arcade (Flinders Lane side) but both the staff/place very warm and welcoming. They accommodate gluten free diets, and my new goal is to eat my way through the simple but delicious sounding menu. The aromas and food were divine, the coffee excellent, and I think the prices very reasonable too. The only complaint I have is with myself for not also checking the Daily Specials which sounded amazing too. Highly recommend Roule Galette, Melbourne. - Merci beaucoup pour votre hospitalité et la nourriture délicieuse aussi!

This place has been a staple French delight of mine for years... whenever I would visit Melbourne, I would come here. Now that I live in Melbourne I now take great delight in bringing people to Roule Galette to eat crêpes and galettes with me! The new renovations are wonderful, the extra space beautiful, it’s so open and welcoming, and the staff are simply ‘formidable’ and ‘fantastique’! Merci bcp!

Not sure what was going on felt a bit ignored had to wait before being noticed and shown to the table. Menu didn’t show up so found some menus ourselves, had to get our own glasses and water. Didn’t feel looked after.. They even forgot our desert, with no apology Food was great shame about the lack of service and customer care

Love this place. It's a little bit of France in Melbourne. Crepes are delicious. Service friendly and efficient.

Used to go regularly years ago when I worked in Melbourne CBD, I've missed it! Had an opportunity to go there for lunch with family today and it's still great. Authentically french, great variety and quality at good prices. And super friendly staff happily chatting to my little son.

By far the best crepes I've had!! Located in a great spot, and service is wonderful. I'll definitely be visiting again!

A French gem hidden away in Scott Alley. Their Galettes are delicious 🤤!

Yet again Trip Advisor has found us another great feed. In a laneway not far from Young and Jacksons, Roule Galette is small and cosy (Worthwhile to book) with exceptionally tasty food and great value for money. C'est Maqnifique

Amazing genuine food and friendly service. A hidden gem right in the middle of Melbourne. I'll definitely be back!

A great place for breakfast. If you didn't know better you'd think you're in France. Great taste and affordable. Been there several times on different trips to Melbourne

After being told about this place by a friend & her French fiancé, we come here each time we visit Melbourne. Lovely little place down a laneway (of course) with really good coffee and amazing crepes with super friendly service! We love watching our crepes being made in front of us and just listening to the French chit chat, even if we don't understand it😊

All staff was equally rude and took a LONG time to take order. i tried to ask a staff to take my order but he DECLINED me. after waiting for longer the lady returned and was very unpleasant, scary and DEMANDING. for an average crepe place, the service was not worth. not coming back.

The Roule Galette space is so cool. Nestled in a little alleyway, it takes place inside two buildings opposite each other.

Ordered:
🍓 La Gourmande: bananas, fresh strawberries, ice cream, almonds, chocolate ($16.00)

Review:
The presentation of the crepe was so pretty. The gorgeous decadent chocolate swirl, the fresh strawberries and bananas added the perfect sweetness. But the crepe came out a little cold...
Each bite was still yummy though!

The service was decent. They took surprisingly long to make 1 crepe and the price is definitely exxy for how much you get. The atmosphere is very chill and comfy - it didn't seem like many people knew about this place.

It's nice to see a well loved place, but for a place rated 4.5 for over on average after 1000 reviews I expected more of a wow factor.

It was an exceptionally hot day and we were fortunate to find an empty table inside the tiny indoor, very quaint part of the restaurant which is separated by an alley from the few outdoor tables opposite and another tiny indoor area where you pay for your meal. A very interesting unusual set up which works well. The staff all seemed fluent in French and with many of the patrons chatting away in French too, we enjoyed feeling as though we were in France. My husband wasn't at all enthusiastic about stopping here for a meal and reluctantly ordered the terroir sausage meal whilst I ordered the sweet brie crepe. We both enjoyed our freshly cooked meals. The iced coffee drink was so delicious that my hubby immediately ordered a second. He was also wanting to sample a dessert crepe, but found he was too full. He is so pleased that we visited this fantastic restaurant and I know this will be on our agenda next time we visit Melbourne. In spite of the restaurant being so small, we never felt rushed and it was a very relaxing and wonderful dining experience.

Their savoury crepes are truly delicious but their dessert crepes are not to be underestimated either!

It was amazing with really friendly service. It was a hidden gem and we almost missed it. I felt lucky that I tried this place.

Best crepes in Melbourne. The food is delicious, the place is cozy, and the service is great! The waiters always come with their warm smiles and kindness! I will go back again!!

Very nice food and service. Reasonable prices. 10/10 would go back

Roule galette makes both savory and sweet crêpes. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The service was fast and each crêpe arrived around the exact same time. The crêpes were all delicious as well as inexpensive.
Shalison
Cosy and beautiful atmosphere with splendid service and attention to (french) detail. Food was above average, but felt that it did not match the price point as well as the hype around the place. However a very authentic French feel and a nice place to check out.

Searched for a pocket-friendly place on Zomato for a li'l afternoon snack and this place popped up. This cosy restaurant, with its French theme and casual vibe, has two parts on either side of the street. Ordered the 'La compléte' crêpe which comes with an egg in the centre and stuffed with ham and cheese, along with some salad. The crêpe was absolutely glorious and complete-ly (see what I did there?) took care of my hunger pangs. All the while being easy on the pocket.
Leonieruthborger
From the delightful staff to the delicious crepes and cider (an essential pairing!), this place is ‘Le top du top’! And I haven’t even tried the sweet crepes yet because the savoury ones are too fabulous. Try a Tartiflette, but only if you’re really hungry!
JOELLE
3.8
Hidden creperie in the city.

Located in an alleyway, it definitely is missable but on a Saturday noon the place was packed. There were two areas, one bit dim and the other well lit (where we sat), both were quite small but it wasn't uncomfortable. Staffs were really friendly, food came out at a reasonable speed.

The roule galette complete was yummy, the batter was crispy on the sides and quite soft and chewy in the middle. The components all worked really well together, though I personally prefer more mushrooms and less ham.

La Belle Normande was quite yummy, the apple was really soft and not too sweet, and all the other components worked well together. I do think the crepe was a tad bit chewy/tough.

Update:

Pesto was pretty good, added some mushrooms to it. Was a lighter option compared to the RG complete. However can't really taste much of the pesto.

La Gourmande was definitely the perfect combination you'd expect from a sweet crepe. The crepe was softer this time, but definitely chewier than la petite and less crispy. Really yumz tho.

Overall a great place for crepe and galettes, with nice ambience and super lovely staffs!

P.S Galettes are gluten free!

( follow for more!✨)

xx,joelle.

This cute French crêperie is a great treat for yourself, whether you wanna go sweet or savoury! A friend and I split the Truffle Salmon galette and La belle Normande crêpe because we couldn't decide on what to get. Absolute bliss in my mouth!
Only reason why I'm giving this a 4 has nothing to do with the food - it's a bit squishy with seats, it's a very small place. Sometimes you'll have to wait to get a seat, and wait a bit longer for the food, because it's so limited. BUT I think that's part of the charm with this place - it's well worth the wait!
Merci beaucoup!
Food Junkie
How did I not know this place existed? Tucked in a little alleyway it would be easily missed if you’re not purposely looking for it.
Authentic French crepes, plenty of options from sweet to savoury. We shared 2 sweet crepes between the 3 of us. Would love to come back to try their savoury crepes. Didn’t have coffee this time I felt like a hot cup of tea. Will definitely come back.

The gallette's here take me back to my time in France. Simple food but super delicious - definitely try the complete. Don't miss out on trying some of the French cider as well, very different style to Aussie cider. The seating is very cramped and there aren't many tables, best to go on a day with nice weather, sit on the outside tables and avoid the inside. Service is very friendly and swift. Some dishes are better value than others and it can feel a little pricey.

A nice find in the heart of Melbourne CBD off Flinders Lane. A cosy ambience with well presented and enjoyable food. I enjoyed tbe Chicken du chef, Domaine Seguinot Bordet, Petit Chablis FR White wine, Crepe Suzette and an espresso. Left satisfied.
Daniel Wirjoprawiro
Amazing and cozy place for crepes tucked away in Flinders Lane! The complete especially is amazing and super delicious with the truffle oil. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t been!

Went there on Thursday afternoon, ordered coffee and some crepes, Riviera is one of my favourite, recommended by the staff and it was delicious, the ice cream, salted caramel, almond and the crepes oh yumm, will come back and try something else, I’m sure it will
Be delicious 👍🏻

Staff are so friendly and quick with taking our order. Cute little restaurant feels a bit like I was back in Europe. We ordered a dish with Camembert and another popular dish with a heart next to it. Damnn was it delicious!! The onion relish and portion size was on point!
Robin
This was our last morning in Melbourne. It was the cutest little spot for breakfast. The atmosphere was amazing. I loved that the staff were french and spoke French. The crepes were to die for and the iced chai was the best one we had during our visit to Melbourne. Worth every cent and the extra tips we left!

Come with friend after yoga, the place is not very easy to be found. But the crepes are awesome, I personally prefer savory ones...Sweet ones taste good, but kinda too sweet when I need finish the whole one.

What a cute little cafe, with some beautiful young french people working hard and doing amazing. Very good service , delicious crepes. Fun to watch them make it and see they use fresh products.
Loved our late brunch on sunday there and will definitely go back there. Highly recommend it!

Had the Roule Galette complete was absolutely yummy with the melting cheese enjoyed the meal... it’s a quaint little place absolutely worth a visit
Nalia
3.5. Ordered the Roule Galette Complete and it's very good. I would've liked the cheese a lot more melted, but it's very authentic and the galette is well made. The brut cider was also very interesting to try.

Bad experience tonight
Waited ten minutes to even get a menu
Had to go and remind them they had a customer
Chicken du chef crepe very very crisp (not quite burnt) and dripping in oil
Wine was good though but how can you go wrong with a French Bordeaux
Try Breizoz in Gertrude st Fitzroy
Lovely service and good quality food without fail

SDeans
Tried an egg & cheese and an egg & onion galettes and a sugar with lemon juice crepe after. The galettes were just about okay, a bit too much cheese in one, and the crepe was ruined as it was drenched in lemon juice which made it sour and soaked. Disappointed that they didn't even offer to replace it.

There is a much better creperie in Fitzroy which I would recommend over this place.
Service is friendly, but the food needs to be good for a place to get highly rated.

Very delicious :) I like the sausage one which has pasta source inside:) however, the environment is not so so so good, it can be accepted. I will visit there again!
Crabapples For Lunch
As far as crepe places go this one is pretty good, and has some tempting combinations. Many crepe places also don't serve ice cream (such a shame) but this does. Our favourites are their La Gourmande and Aumoniere. I've tried their galettes (savoury crepes) as well but I didn't really like them because I found them mostly too dry to eat with their savoury pairings. The dessert crepes usually have sauce or ice cream which makes them much more appetizing.

Price wise, crepe ingredients aren't really expensive so the profit margin is pretty high on their prices, but their prices are within range of most other creperies around. Yes, you do pay for the technique of crepe making, but I don't think these are the best crepes - I've had others that blow me away every time.

Fantastic experience! One of the popular brunch in the heart of Melbourne but no need to queue even on Sunday. The place is tiny but lovely. The staffs are friendly and enthusiastic. We tried the signature crepes with French sausage as main.dish and Lady Perlova as dessert.
Eat_today_diet_tomorrow
This is a little cute crepe shop that we love! The staff was so friendly when we went. We ordered 2 crepes which were La Gourmande (sweet signature crepe) and Truffle salmon. Their crepe was just perfect not too soft like other places, some parts are crispy! We love both of them !

Now I m craving it while writing a review 😋

Service was prompt and friendly, even though they were busy. Had the galette Camembert which was surprisingly filling, and incredibly tasty. Also great value for money.
Tim
This is the best crepe and galette in Melbourne.I have tried many places for crepe but this one is just huge different.Only thing i hope is the size of venue.Staffs are friendly and i don't mind to seat closer to the others as long as food is good, but, sometimes too cold to seat outside.

Firstly, staffs here are very friendly. And I had a banana&choc crepe and latte both of them are very nice. Definitely go again to try other options.

Very nice little spot in the CBD. Crepe was delicious, the service was great, waiters were incredibly nice and accommodating, the decoration and overall ambiance is also cute and cosy. Would love to come back.

This is a good place to have breakfast on Saturday or enjoy a dinner with a cup of wine. The crepes are delicious. As a negative think is that the place is small and is not the best coffee in Melbourne.
Timinmelbourne
4.5/5
This little cafe has 2 shops little shops opposite each other in a small laneway. And both places were busy and it’s not hard to see why.

It was definitely like visiting a little French cafe, bonjour everyone. The service was really friendly and polite from the waiter/barista.

My strong skinny latte really good, with a nice flavour and some good froth.

I’ll be back hahaha! Au revoir.

Been here twice and become my favorite hidden spot for dessert to come to in the city. Crepes do not really stand out in terms of flavor, price is okay for sharing. Love the vibe, small cosy ambience and friendly staffs with a strong charming French accent.
Mi55Bee
Had their la vegera with egg, cheese and mushrooms - so good! Love the mocha as well. Great service and a really nice place near laneway of flinders
Toni
Love everything about this lovely cafe, the staff were amazing, they greeted me in French, so I got chance to practice 😀 they also checked and asked if I liked the food (of course I did), a wonderful experience overall

I went here with my family because we wanted to find a nice brunch place nearby. Then I found this place from the internet and decided to try this place since it has a good review on Google. The food was amazing 😍, it was tasty and definitely worth the price. The staff was very friendly and the place is cosy. As a foreigner, I would definitely recommend this place if you’re visiting Melbourne CBD area. All the food in the photos are recommended by the staff.

This place is amazing, authentic and friendly staff will great you as you walk in the door.. We arrived around 8 in the morning and already all inside seats were taken, however our host grabbed us a table as soon as it was available..
Coffee was just right, not too foamy as some places would have made it.. And the crepes were to die for, we had the La Complete Galette & Sugar Butter Crepes, both were amazing and it was definitely a perfect start to the day..

I always avoided re-visiting this place because it was so small. When we gazed in however one of the waitresses ushered us over across the laneway into another space. It hasn't got the small cafe feel to it but more of a cleaner outfit.

As the waitresses rushed back and forth across the laneway opening and closing the door we peruse the menu and their Roule Galette Complete fit the bill, egg, ham, emmental cheese, mushrooms and truffle oil. The crepe itself was crisp around the edges and the egg yolk was still runny. Ham had a bit of fat to it and the truffle oil was noticeable but a tad more was needed.

No follow up sweet crepe as we were full and we are the savory sort anyway. I'd try to grab a seat in the original store as it has more character but the new store is much more comfortable. French waitresses complete the experience of being in a creperie in France.

Hidden little gem for some french crepes here in Melbourne. Almost all of their crepes, both sweet and savoury are all good. The escargot one is especially my favourite. The place is quite small, but the ambiance is so warm and makes you feel like you’re in a cafe in Europe.
Rey Loh
This place has great food and great service. We ordered the delicious "la complete" and were pleasantly surprised with a beautifully crispy galette with a generous filling of a fried egg, French ham and loads of cheese! The dessert crepe had to be a favourite though!
Belinda
Had the la belle normande and an iced coffee. TO DIE FOR. It will be difficult not coming here everyday! Great service and ambience, quite a tiny space so expect to wait a little bit as can get quite busy. But definitely worth it.
Leila
Tried the salted caramel crepe and the chocolate and banana crepe. Their homemade salted caramel was so light and buttery. Our waiter got one order wrong, so we got one extra crepe with ice cream for free! Absolutely wonderful service.
Veta Bajaj
Cute restaurant great service. Authentic French. But we came here for the crepes and we were not disappointed. Took us straight back to Paris. Haven’t had a crepe this good since my last frontage et jambon (cheese and ham) crepe in Paris ten years ago. We had the monkey crepe and it was worth the trip. This is a highlight of our trip to Melbourne!
Evelynwongyh
Had the classic savoury crepe. While my friend's had the salmon and the pork sausage savoury crepe respectively. The fragrance of truffle was a nice touch. However, I was disappointed at the lack of flavour for the rest of the dish. I would suggest people to have the pork sausage crepe instead. While it looks smaller compared to the other crepe, it's only the case because it is folded over to hold its delicious contents in.
Convivialsins
Stumbled across this place in a way to a laneway bar... I didn’t know existed and apparently has been around for awhile. Very quaint and frenchie with French staff. Serves fantastic savoury and sweet crepes! Tucked away in a side ally off flinders lanes. Cosy, chick creperie. Tried the sausage and the potatoe crepes. Both fantastic. Reminiscing my back packing days through France and time spent in Paris... will be back to try others and to just chill.

Love love love this little piece of France 🇫🇷 in the Melbourne CBD. Be sure to ask for a bottle of the Cidre Francois with your crepe. You’ll be back!!
Just off Flinders Lane in this tiny laneway covered with synthetic turf is a gem serving delicious French crepes by French staff. With lots of options to satisfy the sweet tooth or the savoury inclinations, we soon placed our orders with a chirpy server.

The crepes were served in the time it took us to say voila. As engaged as we were in conversation, the truly delicious Roule Galette Complète was making a definite impression on my tastebuds. Tasty morsels of ham, emmental cheese, mushrooms with truffle oil and an egg with a runny yolk filled each mouthful. My friend enjoyed his Truffle Salmon, with fresh slices of smoked salmon, avocado, diced tomatoes, a dash of truffle oil and an egg to complete the crepe.

Two cozy rooms on either side of the lane with friendly staff and efficient service lets you escape the busy city traffic. On Sunday mornings this place is packed with brunchers. The high ratings are well justified by the happy customers turning over here.

Food : ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The roule galette complete : the cheese wasn’t really tasty and fondant and I expected to have a galette Sarrasin but was not + La belle Normande : very yummy 😋
Price : ⭐️⭐️ Quite expensive for me
Service : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Friendly staff - Quick
Ambience : ⭐️⭐️⭐️ French music / decoration

Ordered:
1. Two crepes - lemon sugar and sugar butter - I initially ordered one crepe but it was so good that I ordered another one. The sugar butter was better than the lemon sugar, the lemon flavour did appear a bit artificial. I wanted to try their savoury crepes as well but then I would not be able to eat dinner, one stomach is not enough when you are in Melbourne
2. Cappuccino - good coffee

Will I go back: yes

Located inside Flinders Lane, it is a hidden restaurant that sells crêpé and galetté. We ordered La Roule Galette Complète(savory) & Mimi(sweet). The Galette is really tasty; I definitely recommend ordering this. Mimi is smeared with apple and cinnamon compote; it's not too sweet which is my preference. Overall, I really like this small cute restaurant. Definitely worth a try!
Nate
This is a magical little place... situated down a little laneway... a hidden gem!!!

Beautiful coffee, galettes and crepes, will be coming back!!!
Mia.grinch
visited once and definitely will go back. It is located in a small laneway and reminded me very much of when i was in France. The crepes are amazing, a little pricey, but definitely worth it. I was surprised with how busy they were until i tried the crepes and wine.
Selina
Loved this place so much! Real french vibes.
Chicken avocado crepe was so yum and the waiter was funny and kind. One of my favourites in Melbourne
Calvin Calvin
All a little place but crepes to die for!! Reminds me of eating crepes in Paris or Nice. Just beautiful food. Love coming here. It just needs to be open later! Xx

We went to this creperie for breakfast on our second day of the stay in Melbourne.

I strongly recommend the spicy Lamb Sausage, whilst my partner favoured the ham cheese and Chicken over the lamb. The lamb sausage was flavoursome and the spicy sauce was rather complementing the pallette.

To finish off we had a chocolate crape (not nuttela) and it was delicious. Unfortunately I was too distracted by the smell could not take a photo.

It is an awesome change from traditional or fusion breakfasts and would love to return on my future visits to Melbourne.
Jamie
I found this place last Tuesday. Now Tuesday again and this was my third visit. It is so good it was worth coming back three times in 8 days. And I'll definitely be back again.
Amazing crepes. Wonderful French staff. Good wine. Uniquely French.
Sivashankar Sivam
Simply put, I’ll come back here again and again for their crepes and their exceptional service!

Price wise could be better but they make up for it with good vibes all round! Kudos!
Gavin Gusling
A true French experience, even down to the staff and music, a small site that has now moved into an adjoining room. Lovely and fresh either sweet or savoury, reasonable coffee and a range of French wine, get in early they get busy and you may need to wait.
Dimzib
This tiny place is busy for a reason, and almost constantly has a waiting line outside of its doors. The crepes here are thin, crispy and rich, paired well with their associated toppings. The staff here are extremely friendly, and despite it being incredibly busy, will not hesitate to stop and have a quick, friendly chat with you. It is always an overall pleasant experience here and is always worth the return.
Heidi
Visited a few times for a quick and simple nutella crepe. It's a small crêperie on Flinders Lane with limited seating but a great spot for a pair or small group to grab a bite! I suggest to head on down early for breakfast to grab a seat!! Otherwise, you can always opt for a takeaway!!

The crepes are reasonably priced with a selection of sweet crepes and savoury galettes. Keen to try more of their crepes in the future!!
Lalala
Really yummy crepes. Ordered some salty crepes because of lunch. Worth the value and friendly staff. Lovely environment to dine with, just the table was a bit small. Would like to come back for the sweet crepes next time
Monica Nguyen
Far from satisfied with the customer service here, young brunette male waitress did not bring us our table water and menus until asked, a second customer walked in and he gave him the water & menu very quickly?????
Adam Scarf
This is a quaint little crepe restaurant nestled away down Flinders Lane, popular for its authentic French galette and crepe. I wish I could say my experience here was positive but unfortunately the service was a huge disappointment. I thoroughly enjoyed my food when it finally arrived, so maybe consider coming here when they’re not busy as they’re really not good at handling a queue.

I showed up with two other people where there was already a young family waiting. The waitress greeted us and told us that it would be a short wait. We noticed there was a party of three already seated with an empty table next to them. We assumed they were perhaps waiting for more friends to arrive and fill those empty seats but they ended up having their entire meal with a spare table next to them while the laneway filled up with more groups waiting for tables. All of us in the queue were perplexed as to why no one was being seated at the spare table. I even asked the waitress if the table next to them was free but she simply shrugged and said she didn’t know before rushing off.

As a table became free a waitress told us we could take it but there was the young family who had been waiting longer than us that just hadn’t been acknowledged by the staff. We let that family take that table and we ended up waiting 15 minutes longer for the group who was inexplicably taking up two tables to leave. When we sat down, two people sat at the table next to us but then asked to move as it was quite sunny. A few minutes later though, the staff asked them to move back to the sunny table to accommodate a larger group when they could have simply moved the table into a shaded spot.

The staff’s methods were very puzzling to me and I could not work out why they seemed to have zero consideration for their customers and zero experience in efficiently managing a busy restaurant.
Pearl
Very authentic french creperie experience and the best crepes I have tried in Melbourne. We ordered the signature la gourmande which was a great post uni snack!!
Julia Liow
cute little french crepe cafe opened by a young french couple - the savory galettes are amazing, the rouge galette compote is my favorite by far (with egg, ham, cheese, mushrooms & truffle oil) and in terms of the sweet crepes, I highly recommend the la belle normande (salted caramel flavor)
ALM
Delicious crapes!I had the savoury one with goat cheese and prosciutto, was very nice combination of flavours, loved it!
For drink I had an iced mocha, honestly the texture of chocolate wasn’t nice, probably the proportion of cocoa powder and water wasn’t made correctly,it wasn’t smooth or blended well...this is probably the only thing I didn’t like during my lunch..
Would love to come back for crepes though 😊
Lucianna Guo
A very nice little place in the alleyway. This is what I like about Melbourne. I’ve had both savoury and sweet and I liked the sweet better.
JeannetN
Hidden away down an alleyway with fake lawn, I enjoyed their crepe. We had it takeaway as it was a very busy and cosy little shop with a few small tables, not really ideal for the all day type sit down brunches. Cooked well, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, I enjoyed the flavour combinations of the complete roule galette immensely..lovely combination of egg, cheese, mushroom and truffle oil ( I don't eat ham)! At $15, it's a lovely quick takeaway treat that doesn't feel too unhealthy or heavy. It's a shame there aren't more table and chairs. Excuse the photos. They don't do the crepes justice... And of course I'd already taken a bite of it first 😂!
TommyTucker
Nice French crepes as well as Brittany’s buckwheat savoury version- Galette.
I had the ham and egg version which was not too heavy for breakfast whilst my daughter had the Lady Petrova- strawberries and Nutella. Worth a try.
Natasha Taylor
I can't eat here anymore because I'm vegan, but I make sure to bring my friends every time we're in Melbourne: for non-vegans, this is the best food in Melbourne

A perfect tucked-away breakfast spot on a cold winter morning. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is beautifully and authentically done.

Great little French crepes, just off Flinders lane is a grassy laneway, its tiny so you might have to wait, but once seated the staff are friendly and fast. Pictured is the ham, cheese, egg, mushroom and truffle oil and the Salted caramel crepes. Recommended but there may be a wait.

A friend and I had a long overdue catch up over an early breakfast at Roule Galette, a crêperie I was keen to check out after reading some good reviews around the places. I dunno if we had as good of an experience, it was fine but we didn’t find the sweet options we had that spectacular.
Sarah Cameron
Had a delicious dessert crepe (A Belle Nourmande) and loved the great vibe, felt very authentic with 3/6 tables French speakers! Enjoyed watching them make the crepes right in front of us.
Rachel Lai
My favourite place for galettes in the city which really cosy french vibes. Love their La Complette (which has truffle oil) - YUM! The texture of the galette is nice and a bit crispy, and the cheese and ham go amazing together. Their dessert crepes also look delicious! Apparently their french cider is pretty good so I will have to try that next time! :)

One of the best crepes in Melbourne. Absolutely superb. I had a sweet crepe and the crepe itself was very thin and amazing. I think the chef are French

An absolute favourite!

Every time I have visited, whether with my partner, with friends.. ordering sweet or savoury it never disappoints.

Authentic French experience in the heart of Melbourne with friendly staff and freshly made crepes right before your eyes.

Absolutely would recommend for every melbournian!
These cheeky buggers are hiding down a small alley but they weren't too hard to find. Lucky, because their crepes are tres bon. Had the chicken and avocado. Big thumbs up. The La Gourmande dessert crepe was just as good.
The staff were all french as well so it all seems pretty authentic. Get around em. Bone apple tea

Fabulous galettes both sweet and savoury. Seating is limited and cramped inside. Service depends on how busy they are but friendly and helpful.
Erin Elton
Friendly French staff and tasty food. We had the chicken and avocado crepe and dessert crepe with strawberries and bananas. Delicious and fresh.
Steph Siu
A cozy laneway French crepe place. Their crepes are superb- had the La Belle Normande and the salmon truffle. I honestly thought both were equally good, one sweet one savoury. Crepes are made delicately and thin, not too heavy at all.

This store is in the most awkward location it took me ages to find
It's in the smallest alleyway right off flinders lane
Boy was it worth the find

I have very high expectations since I eat lots of sweets and this was incredible
The crepe was perfect
So soft and fluffy and then the Nutella, bananas and ice cream complimented the whole dish
(I paid 50c extra for the Nutella)

It was not overly sweet which is great and at the end I was so satisfied

Would come back any day!!!!

The place is small, has undergoing construction next to it when i went there. In front of their shop, it has a sign saying don't trust zomato😂. Food is average, nothing special. Service is poor, no smile, no greetings and very un welcoming. Price is a bit descent. Good to try, but no 2nd time...
Dee Dee
Love the simple salted caramel crepe. Somehow the savoury crepe does not appeal to me. The other sweet ones does not taste as good as the salted caramel crepe.

Love it that it's small, charming and located at a quiet corner. Like a little hideaway from the busy city - a gem.

Coffee's decent too!
Sonia
These guys pay attention to their cooking and their produce. It's always a delight and the service is upbeat without being over the top. I love this little place when I can get in. Last time I went, when it was on the slow side, I even got another crepe to enjoy all the sauce that I could eat with my original order...that's service! Merci.

Girlfriend wanted to drop by for brunch because we just moved to the city a few blocks away from Roule Galette and she's been wanting to try it. We stood outside expecting someone to greet us and clean the table from the previous diner. The guy was just chatting with the girl while she was making a crepe. He didn't acknowledge us for a good 3 min until I walked into the cafe and ask if there's going to be someone cleaning the table up for us. Girlfriend ordered the la forestiere and I got the avocado and roasted chicken and we finished off with a Yeti. We both agreed that it didn't meet our expectations. For the price of the crepe, we didn't get the wow factor that we were expecting from a 4.3 cafe. Better luck next time.

My brother finds the quaintest spots and culinary experience! I was told there might be a wait despite lunch hour having passed and yes we did wait because I need to try it. Never had gourmet crepe before and especially not with avocado and salmon but it worked! Crepe was dessert for me until this place. I did have my sweet tooth satisfied with melted chocolates and bananas, and yes, on crepe! And by the way, this is the only branch outside of Paris!
Trust Me
Quiet, relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. Great food every time. Extremely friendly staff who make a genuine effort at service and a smile. Beverages are excellent as well. This place could be in the middle of a war zone and it would be 5 stars from me! Never change.

Came here with a friend and ordered the chicken du chef and pork sausage crepe, both were flavoursome and meat were well seasoned. Crepes alone were made very well with a crisp to them, service was great staff members were super nice, even spoke a bit of French! 👍 highly recommend.

Beautiful service, prices are not expensive and the food is fantastic. I love the coziness of the cafe and the staff make you feel at home. Loved the decor of Australian plants on the table from the florist next door and the French earl Grey tea is something I'd recommend! We had the Riviera and Lady Petrova. :)
Hungry Jeweller
Chic Parisian decor with laneway dining. Authentic French crepes and galettes, equally tantalising. Service is friendly and polite. Our chihuahua Petal especially adores the crepes here.

Verdict: African emerald

A favourite place to drop in for a quick but freshly made crepe. Nutella is my go to but interstate friends had lemon & sugar and the salted caramel. Many groans of delight & the paper was licked clean of the caramel sauce. My friends comment "how did you find this place"!! It's a hidden gem.

Ordered Banana Chocolate Crepes for takeaway. The taste is good. The cafe vibes is also great. A small shop in a small laneway.
Would come back to try the savoury ones.

Delicious crepes by a cozy, rustic establishment in the midst of CBD eateries. I had the sugar butter crepe topped with strawberries and bananas. It had the right amount of sweetness and left a great aftertaste. The owners were very friendly and service was quick.

A great French experience. Already won me over that the French staff referred to me as Monsieur when handing me my latte. I ordered The Audrey Galette which arrives topped with Brie Cheese, maple Syrup, pecan nuts, apple and roquette. It was a balanced mix of sweet and savoury and exactly what my indecisive self wanted whilst my girlfriend opted for the La Belle Normande which is a sweet crepe with Apple, cinnamon, salted caramel, ice cream and whipped cream. We shared our plates with each other and both were extraordinary! Really can't fault it at all.

French street food .....

It comes complete with the authentic French "accent" S'il vous plaît madame monsieur

Location wise, a bit hidden, good and bad (good that not too many people will find it) :-) .... hidden in one of those Melbourne CBD lanes, so it might take a bit of effort to find this place at the back of Port Philip Arcade before Little Flinders Street. Although it's very quaint in size, this place is definitely one of the best use of a left over nook at the back of a building, they rolled out great simple stuff.

Sit outside if you can, much nicer, better air, although missing some actions inside.

Not because I love French food, but this simple French street "casual" food is just awesome .....

Coffee might need a bit of help, however, everything else is just magnificent for what they are providing and charging.

Try their fresh daily made "Salted Caramel", can be addictive, so watch out.

Thank you à bientôt.

**re-published, for some reason original post disappeared**

It has been over half a year since my first and only visit, so it naturally calls for a re-visit! I met up with my bestie for lunch here as Aix Creperie Salon was packed. It was around late 2pm, not peak lunch hour but there were other customers who had placed orders which they were in the process of making, and since they only had 2 hot plates the wait was longer than usual.

Roule Galette was a small laneway cafe and was a little easy to miss but my friends and I were craving crepes so we decided to try this little cafe. We had to wait about 5 mins for tables to be free (it was busy at that time). However, the staff were very friendly funny and the crepes were so delicious, it was definitely worth the wait. I ordered "Lady Petrova" (strawberry) and my friends ordered "Monkey" (banana) and they enjoyed it as well! The prices were quite decent and the crepes were delicious so I would definitely come again and would strongly recommend!

Goodness gracious, where to begin? The crepes are beautiful, the staff are lovely, and the service is phenomenonal. I'm personally not a fan of the galette batter but it's definitely a me-thing and not a their-batter-is-terrible thing, as my partner loves their galettes. My recommendations are all sweet: the salted caramel and sugar with lemon are both awesome, as is the petit Chablis wine. He recommends the forèstiere and the cider. It's a very (!!!!) tiny shop -- only five tables inside and two outside -- but service is quick and you shouldn't be waiting long.

Two warnings, if you can call them that: They've a fifty-cent surcharge for cards, but no minimum, and the coffee is "authentically French," according to Partner.

With my friend going away to Paris in September, we decided that we would make it an initiative to go to as many French places as possible before her big trip. Having a hankering for crepes, especially since the last one I had was in Paris, a large thick super creamy cheesy crepe with spinach and ricotta that had me bursting at the seams, I couldn't wait to try some crepe in a french cafe in Melbourne.

Lucky for us, Roule Galette is open till late on Saturday evenings. It is tucked away in a laneway just off Flinders Lane.

Despite it being chilly, we decided to sit outside as the aircon was going on in the inside, and it is quite cramped inside. Would not recommend this place for big groups. As soon as we sat down, our friendly waitress arrived with two large menus. My oh my - the options for crepes are endless.

So many options for both savoury and sweet crepes. For maximum value, my friend and I decided to share. We got their chef's recommendation - the lamb crepe with caramelized onion as our savoury option and the goat's cheese honey crepe for our sweet option.

The crepes arrived quite quickly. Both crepes come with green salads, which are just delicious. The one that came with the goat's cheese crepe had walnuts on it.

The lamb crepe had chunky,s chewy deliciously flavoured pieces of lamb that were balanced with the sweetness from the caramelised onion. Couldn't help myself from shovelling it into my mouth. The goat's cheese crepe with honey had just a tinge of sweetness to it. No filling in it really but delicious.

The crepes were gone in minutes and were half the size and 1/4th the thickness of the one I had had in Paris but delicious - really delicious.

Would definitely go back to try some more.

Crepes range from 15-22 bucks and though I think they're expensive, they are probably right for Melbourne's exorbitant food prices.

You get charged 50c for using your card. Split billing is allowed.

The interior walls are plastered with Le Canard Unchaine (The unchained duck?) newspaper snippets. Unlike most french cafes, they don't sell any pastries.

Definitely worth a visit! :)

I've wanted to visit this little piece of Paris in the heart of the CBD for the longest time, and it definitely did not disappoint! The place itself is tiny, but we enjoyed the relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.

I had the lamb galette (lamb, onion chutney, emmental cheese, garlic and parsley sauce, with a side salad) and it was wonderful; the tender lamb was still pink in the middle, and there were generous amounts of cheese and chutney which tied it all together. The galette itself was thin and crispy, and the best bits were the edges with melted cheese!!
My friend had the La Roule Galette Complete, which was similarly full of flavour. I haven't had ham and cheese for a long time and this dish reminded me@ of why it's such a classic and loved everywhere.

Service was attentive and welcoming from the lovely waitress and waiter. I'm already planning my next visit!

If you ever want authentic French galettes or crepes, this is The place to go. Tiny shop filled with French themed deco. Staff all speak French. French music/radio playing in the background... the galettes were amazing! I tried the mushroom bacon and cheese galette. The pastry was light and the filling was just seasoned to perfection. It was very enjoyable. The traditional French apple cider is worth trying too. A bit different to any other apple ciders. It's a bit dry and not as sweet, I really liked it, and went well with the food. My friend had a pork sausage one, and it was amazing also. Even though I was full after that, the crepes were very tempting! I tried one with ice cream chocolate and almonds. It was so delicious, I wish I had room to have another crepe! Would definitely go back to try some other dishes in the menu!

Been here three times and never once disappointed. Tried the savoury ocean salad. Very generous with the amount of salmon and the yoghurt dressing compliments well. For sweet crepe, get anything with salted caramel because they serve one of the best salted caramel drizzle here ❤

Roule Galette is a cute little crepe place just off Flinders Lane (close to Laneway Greens) as we decided to treat ourselves after our lil Laneway Cleanse! It’s quite a small shop front, with about 2 to 3 tables inside and out and a multitude of sweet and savoury crepes to choose from, with options for dine in or takeaway. After tossing up between what was insta-worthy (soz not soz) and tasty, we settled for something that would hopefully guarantee us both, their classic La Gourmande, with icecream, strawberries, banana, chocolate and roasted almonds.

The girl who served us was so nice, adding cream on all 4 corners (having discovered that we loved cream) as well as giving us half’n’half of the chocolate syrup and salted caramel.

I adore Roule Gallette! The savoury crepes (gallettes) are ridiculously tasty. My pick is definitely the Tartiflette. They are definitely on the lighter side for a meal so don't go expecting a massive dish but this is all for the best because it means you'll have room for dessert! Don't miss out on their homemade salted caramel sauce - its delicious! They are also happy to use the gluten free gallette base for the sweet crepes. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the space itself has a cosy atmosphere. The only down side is that its quite tiny so sometimes its hard to get a table.
A little taste of France in Australia this is a must stop spot :)
Real_forking_diet
If you know Me you know that my favorite main dish is TARTTIFLETTE and my favourite dessert is PARIS -BREST… I’m not having them often anymore cause harder to find where I live now but back in FRANCE where I grew up, you find it everywhere 😋. I saw this french creperie in Melbourne CBD and had a look at the menu just out of curiosity, but when I saw “TARTTIFLETTE ” I know I wouldn’t be able to resist 😅
Food For The Soul
The food is very good, price was average, when the Galette arrived I thought... seems a little small. Then remembered this is a French dish and French size. With the cider and the side salad the portion was perfect, due to the richness of the cheese. Food quality great and takes you back to France. I will be back.

We walked in this place on a really cold morning and we were happy to sit inside. It was difficult to locate as the venue is really small but it was quiet at the time we arrived.

We sat down on one of the quirky wooden dark brown tables and waited for our menus which arrived a few minutes later. We were completely mesmerized with the amount of options so we had to ask for the help of the waiter in order to be happy with our choice.

We ordered a couple of lattes and we settled with the LA COMPLETE (egg, ham and emmental cheese) crepe.

Our coffees were nice however, do not expect boutique coffee here. This is not the type of venue to boast or be fussy with your coffee knowledge. Just a nice commercial beverage alongside your meal. Our crepe arrived shortly after. It was a little overcooked on the outside but very nice, soft and juicy on the inside. Definitely one of the greatest crepes we have ever had.

The venue is really old and we noticed that the door was extremely narrow. The tables very old style and the place looks a bit messy on the inside, if not unclean.

The biggest let-down was the service. The only waiter on the day of our visit was very slow and quite abrupt with his service. He didn't look very stressed out regarding the fact that he was serving customers by himself, on the contrary, his expression was quite indifferent. As a result, the items ordered did not arrive until a lot later which created a bit of a disadvantage for the venue.

We will be definitely returning to try more and hopefully, we will be faced with some more speed and smiles.

Been here a couple of times, great french food, reasonably priced and friendly service. We had The Lamb and Toulouse sausage. Will definitely be back for more!

A little gem in a small lane. The crepe was so amazing. Always think banana, strawberry and chocolate as the most classic combanition for crepe, the soursweet strawberries light the heavy chocolate sauce, making the whole dish not much greasy.
Amid
Came here for brunch, nice staff and nice environment. Ordered 3 different dishes in which, ham and Brie cheese was average, Lamb crepe was very nice and crepe with Ice cream, apple compute, salted caramel , nutella and cream was very nice. I also ordered Mocha and tea, both passed the quality test haha. Price wise, I am not too sure... AIX is nearby and is cheaper so watch out for that.

This is definitely one of my favourite brunch places in Melbourne 😁 The cafe is located in a small alley at flinders lane. If you don't know what to order and you love potatos, bacon and cheese, go for 'Lucas'! It's my ultimate fav 😋

This cosy little laneway café is amazing! The girls who run the shop seem to be having a lot of fun making these amazing crepes - there was even an impromptu jig and sing-along. The crepes themselves were amazing. I opted for a Lady Petrova - Nutella with strawberries. They were the right amount of sweet and the crepe base was delicious. I will definitely be returning to this delightful place soon and often. Highly recommended.

A cute little creperie off Flinders Lane down one of Melbournes many tiny laneways. French music playing and the chatter of the French staff in the background just adds to the lovely ambiance of this place. Strawberry and Nutella crepe = YUM! Need to go back and try the savoury ones.
Claudia Vecchia
Amazing little spot in the middle of the cbd!
Must try the lady petrova crepe: Nutella and fresh strawberries.

Must come back for the savory gallete!

Really nice casual style french gem. Their crepe really nice. All staff french. Price reasonable. Very nice location & ambiance. Staff were more nicer now. Before staff use to be a bit rude & arrogant attitude. This is a must go place for me now for a small meal for decent price!

We went to Roule Galette just for a coffee the other day .. Decent coffee, beautiful decor in sweet lil place and friendly staff made the overall experience quite good 😄😄

Very good french place ! Staff was very friendly and crepes were delicious ! Especially la belle normande ! That was awesome, caramel was really nice and the apple were perfect

Love the crêpe... I've been searching for good crêpes around Melbourne CBD and I'm lucky to have found this little outlet nicely tugged in in one of the laneways on flinders lane. The Nutella crêpe is so sinful but super delicious. I'd highly recommend trying it.

A Very cozy place. Delicious authentic crêpe.. Friendly quick service and cheap!! What else do you want? Ordered the lucas. Was absolutely creamy and tasty. Would definitely come back for more

I never know crepe can be so deli!
Defo coming back again!
We ordered the salmon crepe and the crepe from the special menu with potato and cheese and sth i cant remember. That should be put in the regular menu!

Popped in for some gluttony after a big dinner. Had the 'gourmande' which well and truly finished me off. Came with ice cream; bananas and strawberries. Ive often walked past this place but only just tried it. Well worth it!

Probably serving one of the best crepes in Melbourne. Hidden in Scott Alley, this place offers plenty of sweet crepes to chose from. My favourite is the Belle Helene.
Friendly staff and fast service. The only downside is that there are not enough seating.

Craving for French, this is the place to be. Melbourne has almost every cuisine you can think of under it’s roof. Was catching with with a friend so decided to try Roule Galette. This one here has a no booking policy so you just rock up. Nestled in the quite Flinder’s lane was Roule Galette, one of the best French restaurants I have been to. Loved their specials for the afternoon. Had the Roasted Chicken with Avocados and Quinoa salad along with Slow cooked Trout crepe. Amazing composition and tasty food. To top off we also ordered the Normandy Flambee for our dessert. Goût était hors de ce monde . Si belle ! A definite Top 10 of the favourite restaurants in Melbourne.
Brendan
Checked this place out while I was in Melbourne and boy was it good. I got a savoury galette that was so good I could have had another one. They also have French ciders which was a plus. Must try in Melbourne.
Richard Snazell
Don't come here if you're in a hurry! Crepes were good but service was way too slow. Took around 40 mins for 2 crepes to arrive and the place was virtually empty. Coffee was awful.
PEKISH
Hidden Gem! Authentic French Creperie, with savory & sweet crepes to choose from. You can watch them make it & are quite generous with their toppings. Cosy little place, not too much room to move but it all makes up the atmosphere. Most waiters have a French accent, which adds to the theme. We had a savoury & sweet crepe. As a sweet tooth, I obviously preferred the one pictured with chocolate, bananas, strawberries, ice cream & almond.
Aki
A cosy cafe that serve authentic french crepes. They serve both sweet and savoury crepes. Ordered one with chocolate and banana and one with mushroom salmon and cheese. The taste is great. They also serve a few crepe that comes with their salted caramel. The place is a little bit cramped though. Have to be careful when moving around because there's limited space between tables.
Ling
Excellent crepes and galettes - the batter is always thin and consistent. Recommend anything off the sweet crepe menu, caramel is particularly good.
Sabrina Ip
Nice French music with a cosy environment for crepes / galettes.
Long list of choices for both savoury and sweet crepes to choose from.
I ordered Ham & Cheese Galette with green salad.
Waiting time is acceptable, but the galette looked a bit overcooked when comparing to the one from another table. It was a bit bitter than it should be I suppose.
The portion was good, and the price is very friendly indeed.
Staff were friendly and very helpful too.
Vrinda P
I had a takeaway coffee and chocolate crepe. Both were quite nice, but a bit of a wait! To be fair, I reckon Roule Galette is better for a leisurely morning when you're after a quiet spot to catch up with a friend.

Don't expect swift service, but do expect care taken into each order! :)
Julycheee
Lovely little cafe to sit for a cosy meal. There's a nice selection of savoury and sweet crepes, with fillings/toppings to suit anyone. Unfortunately the service was very slow. But we enjoyed both the savoury and sweet crepes a lot, although Creperie le Triskel probably do better crepes (batter). It was a filling and no-fuss little meal.
Eileen N
A quaint little place tucked away in an alley. The crepes themselves are divine - thin, soft and silky. The sweet toppings are just that - very sweet (almost sickly!) and can get a bit overpowering. The takeaway crepes are great for a delicious dessert on the run!
Simon Ck
Terrible vibe and service, bordering on rude, made me want to leave almost as soon as I sat down. Food was average, not great, not terrible. Not a nice place to be.

Nice place and ambience.
The crepe was good with an average portion.
The price was slightly expensive.
Service was okay.

Might come back someday.

Not a place to go to if you expect good service. We had a party of 3 and was made to sit at a table for 2. Our plates of food and drinks could not fit onto the table. One of the male waitors saw, so he came and put another small table next to ours so that our food could fit. However, another female waitress came aroud within 2 minutes and took the extra table away - without any apologies or even asking us if that would be okay. We were left to scoff down our drinks because there was no room on our small table for them. It may seem a small complaint, but if you had to be squashed for the entire meal, it is really difficult to enjoy it in any way. Subsequently we saw a group of 6 being made to sit at a single small table, as well as customers being told to wait for a table to be available when they were clearly free. Service very disappointing - I feel it's a duty for me to warn others that this place is not great if you want to enjoy a meal with more than 1 other person. In terms of the actual food, it did taste authentic but it was nothing special, certainly not worth the discomfort we endured.

Aumoniere. Absolutely heaven on earth!!!!!!! The crepe was still warm and contrasted amazingly with the cold ice cream inside. The wait was pretty short but I feel like they couldve used a few more workers. One of the best crepes in the city

Congratulations........................... The food is very, very good, indeed exceptional of its type and the menu very extensive and well-priced.
The staff are very welcoming, know their menu well and provide efficient and polite service.
The premises do speak of a little corner of France.

Lindsay.

Love!. Love this place. No complaints at all. Just pure love.

Route Galette’s menu include’s a selection of savoury buckwheat crêpes called ‘galettes’, as well as sweet crêpes. We were eager to try the food here because of the positive reviews on urbanspoon, combined with the fact that the prices are reasonable for a sit down crêperie (in the $7-15 range). The crêpes we ordered turned out to be quite large, but we felt like they needed a bit more filling in them to give them a better crêpe to filling ratio.

“When you want something light and miss France, why not have Crepe’s for dinner! After a long day at work, my husband and I were craving something light and fast. Both Savoury and Sweet Crepe’s came to mind. Passing by Roule Gallete many times with lunch trips to Sushi Ten, it was our first choice. A lovely little cafe situated in an alleyway near Royal Arcade, we had delicious light crepes.”

...the nutella crepe. It was really good. The crepe was thin and soft, just like what a crepe should be. I personally don’t like a crispy crepe which just creates a mess when you eat it. The warm and runny nutella just complement it so well.

I think Roule Galette is a pretty nice place.. the crepes are decent, but you can definitely find better tasting ones in Melbourne.

Authentic French crêpes unlike at any other typical French crêperie: I ordered the “Aumônière”, a giant crêpe pouch stuffed full with ice cream and whipped cream, drizzled with chocolate fudge sauce and topped with extra strawberries. Extra thumbs up for the rather endearing menu descriptions and cute grammar typos littered throughout. This is the place “where strawberries prepared by my grandma flirts with the whip cream” and “vanilla ice cream meets with melted chocolate under a rain of almonds”. I’m really gutted I didn’t get a nice photo of my crêpe. If you’re really curious, take a peek here at a fugly phone photo.

The staff we encountered at Roule Galette were entertaining and accommodating, happy to make alterations to the menu items. I ordered ‘The Piaf’ crêpe from the specials board with toppings including caramel sauce, bananas, almonds and ice cream. The waiter was friendly and jovial, serving my order but not before asking me if I knew who Piaf was and jokingly telling me I had to sing one of her songs before I could have my food (don’t worry, ears were saved that night and I was actually served my meal without having to belt out Non, je ne regrette rien). The crepe was beautifully presented and tasted delicious and decadent. The crepes were soft and with a nice, even consistency which I was thankful for after a recent visit to Breizoz French Creperie in Gertrude Street where the crepes looked fantastic but tasted what I imagined to be like eating paper thin crunchy autumn leaves through mouthfuls of air… not good.

A cute, small, French place, selling both sweet and savoury crepes. They use buckwheat in their crepes and are therefore gluten free, which is great for those who are gluten intolerant. We ordered a Nutella and a Home-made caramel with salted butter crepe to share between two, and they were delicious, although I would say a tad chewier than some other places. Service was friendly and although the crepes were made to order, the wait was not long. A good place to visit if you want a place to sit down and enjoy a French meal.

We started the afternoon off with crepes at Roule Galette, which were extremely tasty as usual. I had a crepe with snails (nom!) and then we had dessert crepes – Mum had ice cream, banana and maple syrup while I had strawberry jam and ice cream -delectable! The day then progressed to visiting the ACMI Hollywood Costume exhibition, which was outstanding. It was one of the best and most well put together exhibitions I’ve ever seen. Even a few surprises inside! After, we popped into St. Paul’s Cathedral and it was the first time I’ve ever been inside. There was even a little chi

After a glorius 5.5km run for the Run for the Kids event and a free 5 minute massage, my friend and I were just about ready for some good breakfast and coffee. Taking a different turn from our normal choice of cafes, we decided it’d be good to change things up a bit with some crepes. Why not? Roule Galette is one of those places you sort of have to look for. Hidden away somewhere on the side of one of Melbourne’s many alleyways, the little French eatery is located in a quiet sidewalk away from cars and traffic. Just check out how nice and peaceful it all looks. Ahh…Sunday mornings in the city. Oceane: Smoked salmon and fresh yoghurt sauce with lemon and cheese. $13.00 The crepes really did hit the spot for my friend. It was really tasty, satisfying and not overkill at all. I have long thrown away my presumptions of eating crepes ever since visiting Creperie le Triskel much earlier on in the year. I couldn't resist the Crepe Suzette with Grand Marnier flambe. The hot sauce blended well with the crepe under it. It was a good sized crepe too and there was plenty of Grand Marnier. Couldn't fault any of it and loved it all.

The crepes are made as per usual but are then folded into a triangular shape and placed in a paper cone. It is conveniently easy to hold and absolutely perfect when you want lunch that strays from the traditional. I recommend... a nutella crepe if you're after something sweet (and a dose of nostalgia).

Crepes and galettes are reasonably priced between $5-$12. Roule Galette is a pretty small place, with about five tables inside and three outside. I hear it gets really busy at lunchtimes, but on a Wednesday in the early evening, we had no trouble getting a table inside. Recommend! About 30 other bloggers have posted on Roule Galette on Urbanspoon, so if my opinion doesn’t sway you, you have 29 to go… Roule Galette on Urbanspoon

As much as we loved the Lucie and Anne-So crepes and would gladly, happily, greedily eat them again, the piece de resistance was, in my opinion, the caramel with salted butter, topped with a scoop of ice-cream.

Bonjour! I have some exciting news to share with everyone today I am going to PARIS with my sisters Win Win and Anonymous Sister in JANUARY 2013! I am so excited… I can’t even use words to describe it! Then I started getting crepe cravings Because they are one of my favourite French desserts. Then I remembered I bought the Roule Galette voucher from Living Social which entitled us to 2 crepes and 2 drinks of our choice. Perfect! I was gonna go with Mr Bao but he was a bit busy, and the coupon was expiring, so I asked Yue my awesome colleague, we went on a Friday while our manager was on leave so we could take a longer lunch break We drove to Flinders Lane and walked into Scotts Ally where Roule Galette was situated, but as soon as I showed them my coupon, they told me that it was only valid for their other store located on ‘Rebecca Walk Ave’. Bummer…we didn’t want to drive there, so decided to stay and get crepes anyway Scott Alley Our Lunch For a second, I really thought I was transp

Tres bon! Roule Galette is an awesome French restaurant in cool Scott Alley bringing French charm, awesome galettes (savoury) and crepes (sweet). The ambience is sensational as this small café pays homage to France with French speaking hosts and quirky French related objects around the room.

a simpler menu ..a simpler setting. The crepe I had at Roule Galette was softer and better proportioned to the filling.

Taste wise, once again I enjoyed the savoury more than the sweet crepe. The Escargot Crepe was creamy and yummy. However, the Belle Helene was just alright, not much to say about it.

The crepes were reasonably filling, but I'm not sure the sweet crepe we had was really worth $15. Drinks could be better.

Our first galette was the Monsieur K ($14) that was filled with creamy melted raclette and topped with salty prosciutto.

Both of us left Roule Galette feeling very satisfied and cheery, with bellies filled with good food that cost surprisingly little. Fast service and good food at a reasonable price definitely make this a great cafe to indulge in a delicious crepes, galettes and coffee, and for imagining that you’re in a tiny, cosy cafe in Bretagne, France perhaps.

This is a tiny little cafe, situated right in the heart of the city. This is near Degraves st and Flinders st station.

...we headed to Roule Galette, an adorable little French creperie off one of the many lanes in the Melbourne CBD. Never mind that we just ate our fill at Don Don , because there is always room for dessert! We ordered a simple Sugar and Butter Crepe ($4) to share between the two of us. As you can see, the crepe was thin and delicate, the edges crispy and almost lacy, and becoming every so slight chewy as you work your way into the middle. The thin smear of butter in the crepe, as well as the sugar sprinkled on top made this a delicious, yet light dessert, and far too soon, it was all gone. But what I like the most about Roule Galette is not their crepes, or their galettes for that matter (though don't get me wrong, both are absolutely delicious!), but the charm of the tiny place, as well as the waiters themselves. After much deliberation I finally settled on the Yeti – ice cream for lunch sounded promising. The crepe itself was thin and crisp at the edge with a slight fluffiness that I do love very much. Whether it is the accents of the staff, the books and posters on the walls, the catchy tunes, or the simple style crepes, a visit to Roule Galette is a sentimental experience that leaves me daydreaming about France. The menu is quintessentially French with uncomplicated ingredients enfolded into freshly made savoury galettes and sweet crepes. Last week I ordered the cheese and egg galette. They accidentally put ham in it but were very apologetic and made me a new one straight away. The cheese and egg is an enjoyable combination - not as amazing as the last cheese crepe I ate with gruyere cheese, salt and pepper (ordered at a stall on the Champs Elysees) - but still delicious. There are several vegetarian galettes including spinach, cheese and mushroom with béchamel; goats cheese and fresh spinach; tomato, spinach and goats cheese, and; three cheeses. There is an enticing list of

Although we are a 20 minute tram ride away to the CBD, we seldom find ourselves in the city on the weekends. Why? we rather drive since the poor black car sits in the garage on most weekdays and coupled by exorbitant CBD car park rates. We needed to go to the CBD one weekend and after some research, we realised CBD car park rates is not as bad as I thought it would be. For those who want to know where to get relatively cheap parking, the indoor car park on LaTrobe Street is 5 bucks all day long on weekends (that's less than the price of 2 adult tram tickets). Now since we were in the CBD, it meant that even though dinner was an hour away, we had to try something uniquely CBD. One of the places that I have been wanting to visit is Roule Galette. Located in one of the smaller lanes in Melbourne, this places oozes "French". From the french accent, music, crepes and cider, the Wife said it feels a little like sitting in a small cafe in Paris. Because dinner was an hour away, we sha

TY and I eagerly bounded in on a Saturday morning for a spot of brunch. We were clearly a lot more excited about getting up that morning than the somewhat apathetic staff who meandered about but didn’t do much. Thus we fended for ourselves and got menus, seats and water, all of our own accord. We became too engrossed in conversation and it was a while until we could decide on what we wanted. I was feeling healthy that day and opted for a savory vegetarian option. Using Emmental cheese, spinach and mushroom, the Popeye Les Galette is also gluten free. At $10/pop, it was especially great value for money. The rest of the menu offers tempting options such as Theo (Caramel, chocolate, almonds) and Lucie (where vanilla ice cream melts on braised apples with crunchy almonds) at similarly affordable prices. When you visit, please take the chance to peek into the little boutique opposite which stocks delightful designs and has the cutest wallart.

the place just oozes french charm, without being at all pretentious (perfect for a date)

Both times, I enjoyed my crêpes thoroughly. It’s central yet quiet location, combined with cheap prices and generous portions make it an ideal place for a meal (I was going to say ‘snack’ but given how big the portions are, they should be considered proper meals). The only issue I have with this place is that service can be slow, and not just during peak periods (there were hardly any diners when I ordered the strawberry crêpe, for example) so I would only recommend Roule Galette if you have time to spare. Now go before some sly fox steals all the crêpes!
Eat And Be Merry Crew
One of the places that I missed terribly whilst living in the grey bumhole of London was Roule Galette. I missed the cute little shop, the paper-thin buckwheat savoury crepes and their yummy sweet crepes. Many a days (for lunch or dinner), I'd treat myself to sitting inside this oasis (just off Flinders Lane, and behind the Port Phillip Arcade), enjoying a crepe or two with a glass of perry cider. There is no better creperie in Melbourne than Roule Galette. It's a big statement, but RG definitely sets the benchmark for all other creperies. As with all my favourite places, I make a point of trying everything on the menu. Since I've started eating at RG, I've tried about 3/4 of the savoury crepes and about 1/2 of the sweet crepes. It's a difficult (though, delicious) task to try all the crepes that are on offer, especially since I've got a few favourites which I keep ordering. For lunch one day, I ordered the forestiere - a savoury crepe with béchamel, bacon, mushroom and cheese. It's

Cute Little Place. The French posters on the walls. The French music drifting through the air. The French waiter sauntering oh-so-smoothly to the table to croon at you about your order. This place is small, cute and really knows how to set the mood. The prices are very reasonable and thankfully the French waiters don't live up to their rather unfavourable stereotypes and are friendly and helpful. We shared the Forrestiere (bacon, mushroom, cheese and Béchamel) and the Popeye (cheese, spinach, mushroom). The Forrestiere was unpleasantly salty while the Popeye had a much better balance - was the bacon the culprit?? Good for a cheap, easy meal anyway.

Very cute little French crepe place good tasty selection and fast.

Super cute creperie cafe stuck in a walk through alleyway. European styled, the wait staff had French accents. Unfortunately the crepes didn't taste very French. I had strawberries and cream with mine and the strawberries were not stewed right and the cream was the canned kind. My boyfriend loves the mushroom and cheese crepe but I thought the cheese tasted way too blue.

Worst service in Melbourne!. We decided to go there after dinner because a friend from Sydney visited and she wants to eat there. There were 3 of us and we were very full. So we ordered a crepe and an ice chocolate, the waiter was not friendly at all. When we asked for 3 forks, the waiter rolled her eyes and said "You want to share one crepe?". That was very rude and unacceptable. We will not ever come back again. The food was average.
Aaron Wiseman
Good food and good atmosphere. However the service can be unfriendly (maybe so they live up to the French stereotype!) and they won't let you split the bill.
Ben Palmer
Good food but unhelpful service, guess it's authentic.

We had the ham and egg crepe and one with bacon, mushroom and cheese in it. The presentation is rather ordinary but the taste was pretty good. It didn't look very big but was surprisingly filling. We had theo as the dessert, which was a sweet crepe with caramel, choc sauce and flaked almonds. That was really yum, especially for one with a sweet tooth! The cafe is located in a little lane and has a quaint feel. The French boys at service added to the French cafe feel! Would recommend for the experience. Price is not too expensive, with the crepes averaging around $10-$15.

Loved it. Came in on an early tuesday morning looking for some pancakes. I heard about this place from a friend. It was 8am and nobody was in, I couldn't find any staff either so I decided to walk in to check it out, there was music playing ( really nice music that makes you feel like in France, which I've been told later that it was the music from the movie Amelie) but nobody there. After a few seconds a head popped out of the back, a young man great me with a smile and and warm "Morning", he offered me to have a sit while he was finishing what he was doing( I guess cooking as he was alone) which didn't take more than a minute, offered me a coffee( which was beautiful and delicious, love latte art but even more a good coffee) and gave me a menu. As I didn't know much about creps and galette I asked him about it and I'll tell you what, I've hardly ever seen a young man so knowledgeable about food. I started making me a delicious savoury galette as we kept talking and he was giving some cooking tips, a real french cuisine lesson and historical lesson about crepes, all what he didn't know as I was really asking for a lot, like the meaning of the flag of brittany, we googled it as he sat for a coffee with me. He then proceeded to make me a caramel crepe, which the caramel was made by himself, DELICIOUS, I've never had a better one, and he also gave me the recipe (shhhh, it's a secret recipe).
Anyway, good food for good value, good coffee, and outstanding service, I tip my hat to this young man whom by himself made this breakfast one of the best I had in a cafe in my life, and love the french accent !!

Not good. The guy that was making our crepes was in a rush for no reason since there was no one else waiting to be served and he gave us uncooked crepes, it was horrible .

Love love love this place! We eat here everytime we visit melbourne. Both sweet and savory are to die for. A must visit.

Good food, disappointing service. As close to an authentic French creperie can offer, I like their galettes –buckwheat flour, savoury- and the crepes –wheat flour, preferably sweet-. A bit pricey but worth the quality. Service can be sometimes borderline rude.

Lovely French corner tucked away in little charming alley way! We had the "St Jacques" galette and a bowl of their delighting Normandy cider suggested by the staff. Friendly service, adorable location, sweet taste for decoration, felt like right in the heart of Paris ! Will definitely come back for more !

As a gluten-free foodie - I enjoyed this place! The galletes are gluten free and delicious, though theyll also put crepe toppings on a gluten free buckwheat base. Ill be coming back with friends.

We have frequented Roule Galette many times an have found it very popular on a Sunday morning. If you don't get there before 10 am (the opening time) you will have to wait to be seated. Unfortunately when we arrived this time 10 mins early we were greeted with a closed sign and were forced to wait outside until 10 mins past the opening time only for the 'help' to suggest we wait a further 5-10 mins while they had coffee and a cigarette on the chairs outside while we watched. I found this extremely rude, inconsiderate and of utmost in bad service. We will not be coming back to this crepe shop any time soon with the current staff operating it. I would suggest staying away until customer service picks up. On a more positive note, the food was prompt and I always nice.
Hungry Cat
The crepes are nice but the attitude of the staff is terrible. No one comes to you and when you go up to ask for something they scold at you and tell you to wait at your table. Felt like a 3 year old being told off. It's such a pity because no matter how good the food is, you'll leave with a bitter feeling.

Very costly. For a school excursion, $15 is quite expensive

Love Roule galette - staff always friendly and you can't go paste the Nutella pancake. Took the kids over the weekend and the smell of the crepes cooking just took me back to Paris! Keep up the good work guys.

Very nice food loved the French staff gave it authentic feel. Nice in alley too quite and secluded.

Fantastic crepes, lousy service. I feel a bit conflicted about this place; on one hand they make the best crepe suzette in Melbourne, on the other hand the staff seem more interested in having a cigarette and chatting with mates than than actually serving the customers.

Basil Fawlty lives. Today, while browisng newspaper, with my meal and drink only half completed ,a waiter from "attitude central" bluntly asked me had I finished.I showed him the contents and replied no and suggested it was premature to ask.He then mocked me to manager who saw nothing wrong and admonished me ! There was only one other table occupied, nobody waiting. Then the staff of three started muttering about me expressed in bad language.Poor hospitality in this venue which I happily frequented in the past.Very strange and bad attitude now.Never again.

Went here mid afternoon on a Saturday. Coffee was as uninspired as the staff working, so much so my partner took one sip and wouldn't go on. Upon paying I queired the $9 pricetag for 2 soy coffees and was met with an attitude of "like it or lump it". Would never go back and will ensure I tell as many ppl as possible to stay away!!!

So many fake reviews for this place. Ugly decor, bad service, sub-McDonald's grade food, and awful coffee. All of that comes at a hefty price as well. Avoid.

Unbelievable!. Rude and slow staff, cold and burned crepes, me and my partner had a awful experience here. All of that for 24$! Think about it before walk in..

The texture, thickness, amount of Nutella & Shaved almond to coat this paper thin French Delight made todays experience perfect! My friend also ordered it with rich Vanilla ice cream & banana. YUM! Definitely in the top 3 crepes I have tried in Australia!

Fantastic! Being a lover of crepes I was so happy to find this place did not let me down. Have been there a few times, I highly recommend the salted caramel crepe if you'd like something sweet. $6 can buy you happiness!

Like I was in France!. It felt like I'd returned to the north of France again - the galettes are so delicious, crepe with chestnut creme brought back my childhood, and the coffees were so well made. Even got to practice my broken French lingo :) Love this place and the one on Rebecca Walk is just as stunning.

Food is ok but bad service. I walked pass in the afternoon and want something sweet so i choosed this place. The atmosphere was good but staff asked me to wait 5 min even they have free table. I can't sat there. That was ok. Then i order an english breakfast tea. They gave me just only tea no sugar ,no milk. At first i thought they might gave me later but waiting for 10 min. Still have no one came back. I decided to ask but they said please don't order at counter. I walked back and waiting them until the tea was cold. Finally no one gave me some sugar or milk even they have nothing to do just talking and dance at the counter. If you wanna have a good time. Don't go there. The food is ordinary.

Disappointing. I just wanted a really simple sweet crepe. It was afternoon and although the place was almost empty it took quiet a while to get our orders, the waitress said she "didn't see us"..well, if you get to see the place is quiet impossible not to see someone coming.
the crepe was nothing but ordinary, and I actually got some tinfoil from the Nutella can in it.

Great French Food, Terrible French Attitude. Let me start off my saying the crepes are yummy and the place is very small but nonetheless cute.

You kind of feel like your in France and this feeling is gets even more real when you realise that the staff have a very French attitude. I wouldn't have minded it so much if it wasn't for the fact that we got up to get menus (it was 8:30 on a Tuesday night and it was virtually empty) and after waiting for a good 10 minutes, we got up to order because no one was coming to our table. They told us that they didn't take orders at the counter and we would have to wait until someone came to our table. 10 minutes later, someone did and we ordered (again, the place was EMPTY).

After we finished our crepes ,we wanted a sweet one but we didn't know what to do because EVERY staff member was sitting in the table next to us having a cigarette. We gave them a few hints and after waiting for a while we just told them we wanted a chocolate and banana crepe for desert. One of the staff members got up, gave us uhhhhhs and started making the crepe.

To sum it all up, the service is beyond terrible but the crepes are good. If you don't mind feeling like you are being completely ignored, then this place is worth a try.

Top lunch in tiny package. This busy creperie offers a lovely range of fillings and friendly service with a French accent to boot. Good for lunch, though get in early - it's tiny!

Don't know about the crepes but service was crap!. Walked into this place and ignored by the 3 staff and as it has a "wait to seated sign" I ended up pointing to a table outside and one of them nodded so I sat down. 5 Minutes + later the waitress finally comes out and drops literally drops the menus on the table. I pleasantly said we're ready to order as we knew what we wanted and the waitress says I'm not and walks off! I thought she was joking but she didn't return after 3 or 4 minutes so we up and left. It's a small place, 3 staff for what would have been 10 customers should be plenty but the waitress was an absolutely rude French cow. Do NOT go here!

Great service, even better food. Not realising the place closes at 8pm on weeknights, a group of eight of us turned up a five minutes to eight for some dessert, and were told it as nearly closing time. But instead of turning us away, they set up a big table for us, sat us down and let us order (we couldn't help but feel a bit guilty so ordered and ate as fast as we could!). Crepes were DIVINE. Atmosphere was so cosy and quintessentially French, and the service fun and friendly. Would go there everyday if I could!

What a friendly place !!!. That was the second time (in two weeks) I came here for lunch. We were nicely proposed to seat outside. These crepes are delicious and cheap. The place is friendly. I highly recommend it ! Thanks again to Marine and specially Victor who exactly knows what hospitality means. Had a really good time.

Lovely lunch with kids. On our way to the Mesopotamia exhibition at Melbourne Museum, we stopped at Roule Galette with the kids who enjoyed a crottin de chavignol galette and a chevre galette, while I enjoyed the Chicken du Chef. Absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is nice and cosy for those winter afternoons. The kids had a crepe nutella as a dessert and I sipped a delicious creamy latte. Highly recommended, the staff is nice and friendly, the food is delicious, and the place is so cute and frenchy.

Delicious. Roule Galette is one of my favourite places for a relaxed catch up with a small group of friends or with my significant other. The crepes are delicious (as a vegetarian my favourite is the Popeye), the staff are charismatic and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. The only downside is that the place is tiny, which might mean that a bit of waiting is required when it's busy.
Amanda
Excellent service, very friendly staff and delicious food! The atmosphere was also delightful. Definitely recommended!

I think this place is just a bit of fun. The waiter gave us all a little bit of a laugh and the Crepes were yum! ... Perhaps next time I would go on an empty stomach though !

Not going back. Worst experience, I asked for a sugar and lemon, the most simple one, and it hasn't have ANY LEMON, it has lemon juice SUBSTITUTE! which I consider disgusting. I cannot believe that a place who claims to be real french, can ruin like that something so simple and delicate as a sugar and lemon crepe.
Worse than that, when I gently asked to the waiter if the lemon that they were using it was real lemon, he just told me: no it's not, but that's what you have for that price, and off he went.
If they consider the lemon too expensive, or don't want to go to the fruit shop, so please don´t put it in the menu, or say it's a substitute juice, or raise the price if is so terrible to use half of a lemon for one crepe. I'm not having a crepe because it's "cheap", and certainly not coming back to a place like this.
P.S. I asked for the cider which appear in a review on a wall on the same place, which is supossed to come in a ceramic big cup, and it came in a tiny glass cup. Not what I read, again.

FANTASTIC CREPE's. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!! It is such an authentic little French creperie . It is always a good time to go there. There are dozens of savoury options - my favorite is the delicious ham and some sort of exquisite cheese and/or egg It ids always difficult to select form the countless numbers of sweet crepes including fresh raspberry with chocolate sauce and cream/icecream , maple and cream, banana and nutella............ The coffee is also excellent as are the gorgeous French speaking staff. This is a tiny little gem of an eatery with attentive staff always offering excellent service no matter how busy they get!!!!! PRICES start from a little as $4 for a standard sweet crepe . 0LOVE IT..

J'adore!. I've been here many times before and always have a fun time. The staff are adorable and cheeky, and really add a great atmosphere to the experience. We asked our waiter if we could put on our iPod to sing along to some of our favourite French songs, and he agreed and sang along with us! Later on we got a couple of free crepes too.
The food is great, simple like crepes should be. The Forestiere is very cheesy but deliciously French and filling, and I had the Lucie (braised apple with icecream and almonds), and asked for chocolate added, and it was delicious.
This place is unpretentious and relaxed, and if you have the same attitude, and are willing to have a go at speaking a little French, you will feel very welcome!

Wonderful every time we visit!. Today I visited Roule Galette for at least the fifth time with my French class and every time we have gone we have stayed for ages and had a wonderful time! The staff are extremely friendly and talkative, they even let us choose the french music and took photos of us :) The food is simply amazing and every time we have difficulty deciding, which usually result in multiple courses of crepes. I would recommend this wonderful hidden gem to anyone and everyone :)

Disappointing. I was really looking forward to eating here, especially trying the escargot galette. I had made a reservation six days earlier for a table to ensure that my birthday lunch would run seamlessly but, upon arriving right on time, I was told that they'd been busy, that sometimes they can't keep their reservations if they're busy because they don't normally do reservations, that he had told me that via email (he hadn't, there was no mention of that and the reservation appeared to be secure like any normal reservation) and that we wouldn't get a table for at least fifteen minutes. In fact, their website makes a huge song and dance about being accommodating for groups with reservations, which was partly the reason why I bothered contacting them so long ago to get a reservation. They even had a sign up at the door! I'm more inclined to think that the incident was borne more from incompetence than from rudeness but it was incredibly disappointing and puzzling, not to mention INCREDIBLY inconvenient to walk down somewhere ten minutes from the office for lunch when you think that your lunchtime plans are a certainty.

I love this little place! I went there recently for the first time and I ordered the most amazing crepe with ice cream and chocolate, and it was so nicely presented. I was also impressed with the French twins that served me. They were warm and friendly, and so cute. I'll definitely visit Roule Galette again!

Meh.... After walking past here a few times I brought a new victim with me to try a new place - Roule Galette. Not impressed, coffee came ten minutes before my crepe. Chicken crepe contained that mushed chicken in a can crap. The sweet crepes looked OK but not going to return. Which is a pity, as the place looks great.

Pretentious rude indie staff.

My girlfriend and I were on a date and thought we would stop by this place for a nice snack. We arrived after they had closed and were greeted by 5 staff sitting at the table outside all staring at us. We were bluntly told by one that they were closed, and as we walked away were told (in a bitchey tone) to "come back tomorrow" if we wanted. No thanks!

As enticing as this place was, the staff have completly turned me off, and I will not be spending one cent here.

We are all in agreement, the coffee here is brilliant. The best I've had in ages; I've had quite a few bad ones lately. I could tell it was good from the start by the smell of it (sometimes the smell of freshly ground coffee, or the smell of a cup of coffee, is almost as good or better than the taste itself). Other than that, being a big fan of crepes, I can tell you the crepes and galettes are scrumptious. Excellent prices too.

Bad crepes. By far - the worst crepes I have ever had. I've given Roule Galette two chances - but that's too much time, energy, effort, money and calories wasted on bad food. This time around I ordered the Forestiere - the menu describes it as filled with béchamel (French white sauce) with Bacon, mushroom and cheese this recipe comes from my father...
It was definitely hunt for the mushroom (and therefore should not call itself forestiere). Overwhelmingly bacon-ey, gooey behcamel and cheese. I felt sick afterwards, and ended up just eating the top part of the crepe, scraping off as much filling as I could. Not good. Add to this extremely slack service on a quiet Tuesday morning - not good enough. Really good crepes can be found at Le Triskel in Hardware Lane - go there...

I went here for the first time today with a friend who goes regularly. I was hoping that it would live up to all her hype and excitement, sure enough it didn't disappoint. The service was really good, lovely friendly people. The galettes were insanely fresh and delicious and the sweet crepes even better. Situated in a little lane way in the city, you feel like you could be anywhere in the world - even Paris. I'll definitely be back. Merci for a lovely day Roule Galette!

Thought the galettes here were better than crepe le triskel! But their escargot was too salty.

Very Bad Service. No Crperies at this place again definately!!!! Once we had a table. we had been waiting for about 10 mins for order still no staff looking at us even though the waitress noticed us we are there, so we decided to leave but i could tell that they don't care to loose their customer at all. Recall that last time we had the creperies there are not hot and not nice.

Pas mal.... Mais not incredibly authentic.

Great authentic food. We had to wait a while for our meal, which was a bit disappointing, but food and refreshing French cider made up for it. Will have to return for their sweet options.

Très cute little creperie.... ... in a cute little laneway, and the crepes and galettes are very tasty, and there's an interesting variety to choose from...

Deliciously sweet. I've been here twice and love the place. its small and cosy and intimate. I love hearing the french accents and lets not forget the crepes. crepe gourmande is just divine. Just reading what's in it makes me salivate. ice cream, chocolate, banana, strawberries and almonds to top it off! its definitely filling and totally yummy.

Good. Its a small, cosy and really nice place to enjoy your tea time with friends. the crepe is averaged for me but will come again for sure.

Authentic French experience in an authentic Melbourne alley. Visited for a light bite to eat. We squashed ourselves through to the only vacant table. Service was quite slow but on a lazy Sunday this was not a concern as we were adequately distracted watching the staff cook the crepes fresh to order. I think the extended wait had me salivating more in anticipation when my crepe with home made caramel and salted butter was served. Simple and yummy.

Superb!. The Escargot galette was amazing! Would be back for more. Price is also reasonable.

Lovely!. Came across this quaint little cafe by accident. The food was really delicious and I love the fact all the staff are French. Will definitely return for more crepes.

What you pay is what you get. Average crepes but filled my hungry belly. If I was a student on a budget, I would go there more often.

Definitely not visiting again. The waitress seemed to not want to serve or seat us for some reason. The crepes were ok and I loved the set-up. Reached Flinders St and realized the waitress gave me back the incorrect change and charged me extra for the crepe. Did not feel comfortable going back there to make a big deal out of it for $15 nor did I want another cold stare, but I did make a mental note to post this. Would not go back, nor recommend.

Great galettes (the savoury crepes). crepes are alright but i've had better Yet very reasonably priced

Interesting staff. When you enter Roule Galette, you'll be thankful if you come alone/as a couple or in a small group. The tiny space won't fit 20 people at once.

Their crepe is one of the best, their ice choc is so 'sinfully' good and they're reasonably priced. One of the place I go to when I have nothing to do.

Best Crepes. Big things come in small packages!

An energetic team, romantic french music and a 'homely' decor - you can't help but love the atmosphere of this charming, little creperie! Of the savoury kind, we ordered the Saint Jacques and Chicken du chef. Saint Jacques was amazing - beautifully seasoned and tender scallops, although the "Sauté" de leek filling might have been slightly on the salty side. Chicken du chef was nice and light - I personally thought it needed a sauce or cheese to give it a 'punch'.

To satisfy our sweet tooth, we ordered the Lucie! It's everything you'd imagine a crepe to be: ice cream, braised fruit (in this case, apple), slivered almonds. Gluttonous? Yup. Worth it? Absolutely.

Looking forward to trying more on the menu!

Good Crepes. Good menu variety with savoury ranging from brekky style, to simple fillings to very french escargots. Same with the sweet crepes having the choice of basics of sugar or jam, up to a deluxe of raspberries+icecream+chocolate. Would have been nicer if they used better quality icecream. But as it is pretty basic prices it is decent value for money for a city cafe.

Wait staff seem friendly but then sometimes also seem a bit stressed when it gets busy, so I can see how some people may face the wrong end of their attitude.

Crepe Scchmepe. Went mid week after work for a little treat.

It's a fairly small cafe and didn't have many seats inside & a few seats outside. Ordered two dessert crepes and they were tasty but doesn't make me want to go back.

When I went to pay, wasn't immediately attended to. Was made to stand around waiting while one continued to make crepes & the other was on the phone.

It's a cute cafe, maybe for a date, but wouldn't go back.

Yummy but... Ive been going here for a few years now and the service is getting worse each time i go
the crepes are still amazing but the service really puts me off when staff are unwelcoming

Friendly, casual breakfast experience. Our complete crepe was very filling. Great coffee. Happy singing staff added to our experience. Great Sunday brunch!
Alista Tiddy
Overhyped. It took about 1/2 an hour for my average crepe to arrive. I think the bacon they used was that horrible pre-diced bacon from safeway/ coles. It was really not great and for the product; seriously overpriced.

Obe of the best French cafe's in the CBD lovely food

Crepe maestros!. One of the best cafe experiences I had. Got a Forestière and was too good and filling. Coffee was also quite good.

The service was excellent; prompt and efficient.

Will go again next time to try the sweet ones!

Delightful. It's a little difficult to get a table for breakfast, but it is worth the wait. Crepes were delicious and restaurant was charming.
My Two Cents
This is why Melbourne is the best place to live. This place feels like a hug. So cute and the staff are as lovely as the delicious food. I may have had a few too many iced chocolates with chocolate fudge and cream but I don't regret a single one.
Ed
Very French but without the infamous attitude. The staff were delightful. Once a table became available, we were immediately shown to our seats by the friendly and helpful waiter. Service was swift and efficient, and we were tucking into a Forrestiere galette and Lucie crepe in no time. Lose yourself in this charming little place and be transported to Brittany.

Had a brekkie galette here this morning - cute place, loads of Frenchy nostalgia (loved looking through the Paris books that line the wall). My egg & ham galette was ok, and plenty filling. They forgot to bring me the chocolate & banana crepe I also ordered, but was pretty full anyway. Service is obviously a bit so-so, but still a place worth a visit.

Definitely has a little French attitude to it. But food was great.
Craig Gration
Very slow service. Food ok. Nothing to write home about.

What a great start to a day. The owner is NOT the sort of French that do not say "hi" in the elevator. One of the nicer people you'll ever meet, and better breakfasts you've had.

Magnifique!

J'adore!. A tiny little creperie tucked away in an alleyway - is there anything more romantic? You can get sweet or savoury crepes here - my favourite is the one with rose petal jam. It's a tiny establishment, but I think that adds to its charm. Check out Lady Boutique and Miss Lau while you're there.

Quelle surprise!. A cosy French place in one of Melbourne's eponymous alleyways. A performer in Melbourne's current crêperie wave, I started coming to this place with after the departure of the owners of Cafe Au Soleil, formerly in the Block Arcade. I like the Escargot, and the cider is full-bodied. Strong recommendation from me, only complaint is that the premises and outdoor seating is too small.

Overall everyone enjoyed their crepe/galette. And even though they didn’t look like much, they were quite filling.

If only I had room for dessert.
