The best Italian restaurant I have been too, beautiful fresh food, friendly staff and a great old fashion atmosphere.Highly recommend Amiconi !
One of the best restaurants in Melbourne. Always a favourite of ours. The service and food is always first class. Michael is an excellent host who always manages to have a pleasant conversation with all the diners.
We really enjoyed our meal and the service fantastic can't wait to come back to Melbourne and come back. A hidden secret traditional Italian food.
Just had the best meal I have had in a while. Service was amazing. The meals were big and full of flavour. Traditional Italian! Thank you Vince & crew, I'll be back!
Excellent meal the best gnocchi I've ever had and great service
Great food and great people. In the words of Molly Meldrum "Do yourself a favour" and try the calamari when you visit.
Amazing as always. Want to try everything on the menu, but cant get past out favourites. Incredible service too. Must go.
Lovely small Italian restaurant with a cosy atmosphere. Great food, great wine, great customer service - what more could you ask for!
Best food in a long time!! Gnocchi was amazing, husband had Carbonara, also fantastic!! Wow, what a gem of a place. Definitely coming back for more beautiful food!
Service was great too, very prompt!!
What a wonderful restaurant. Excellent food and service and amazing coffee. Just as I like it - Scalding!
Thanks so much Vince!
What can I say about this place, such an fantastic meal !!
There were four of us dining, we thought we had booked ahead online, but somehow there was an issue and our booking was never registered.
But they still managed to squeeze us in, although outside. Being a barmy Summer Saturday evening there were no issues from us, apart from not much space on the table.
All four of us agreed what a wonderful meal we all had.
The staff were very friendly and good humoured.
We WILL return the next time we are in town !!!
With a craving for spag bol I made the right choice in heading to Amiconi. The staff were lovely, the service quick and they added in some garlic bread just to really top off my takeaway experience!
I had a surprisingly wonderful experience at Amiconi! There are so many Italian restaurants in Melbourne and sometimes it’s tricky to know which one to trust and which one to stay away from. Well, Amiconi is definitely worth a visit! Everything from the antipasto to the desserts is fresh and home made. I had dinner with a few friends and we all enjoyed everything we ordered. I highly recommend the antipasto platter and the pastas. Desserts are wonderful too. I think you’ll be happy with whatever you order to be honest. For all the Italians out there... don’t judge a book by its cover! This restaurant might be old school, but it delivers great Italian food!
Delightful restaurant with handmade pasta and great sauces. Linguine and tiger prawns was divine. Tender veal. Old fashioned, gracious service. Small space, so book in advance.
Authentic old-established Italian and excellent!
Amiconi’s is a small, authentically Italian bistro in North Melbourne that has been operating under family ownership for 58 years. The food is excellent. Marvellous entrees include garlic mushrooms, zucchini flowers and others, while the full range of Italian mains from vitello to quaglie and coniglio are on offer. An excellent website displays the choices. The host, Michael Cardamone greets his guests, many of whom have been coming for decades. Authentic and excellent. From the CBD, take #57 tram northbound in Elizabeth St and get off at the corner of Victoria and Errol Sts..
I've gone past this place on the tram every day to work and never expected anything, but this is a little gem hidden away in West Melbourne. Work dinner brought us here and immediately greeted with warm smiles into a nice villa style restaurant. Although it was a bit squishy inside as you were knocking the elbows of those seated next to you, the food was impeccable.
A mixture of comfort Italian food done at a high standard, Osso Bucco special was amazing and really reminded what home-style dishes were all about. Garlic mushrooms were quite nice and the eggplant parmigiana was exceptional. Would not have expected anything like it. We were seated in a dark spot of the room and couldn't get any photos but this is a definitely a must try.
Amiconi has the best Gnocchi I’ve ever had & the best staff. The customer service was really really impressive. Amazing atmosphere and such a convenient location. 5 stars.
Unbelievable!
We first visited Amiconi approx 20 years ago and have visited quite a number of times since. Always pleased.
The quality of the food and the lively busy atmosphere is testament to the attention the long time owners put into ensuring continuing high customer satisfaction.
We dined with friends from interstate and they could not believe a little Italian restaurant like this could put out such fantastic dishes.
The veal, as always - magnificent as are any of the pasta dishes. For the quality of the food, prices are quite reasonable.
Excellent authentic food with good service and a nice rustic decor. BYO is a plus.
Both of the Calimari dishes both fried and grilled with the caramelised onion is delish!
Walked in on a Friday night, no reservations, near full, they made up a table for us, food came out super quick, main landed on the table as we finished entree (bruschetta was amazing).
Lovely staff, meal sizes were generous, left full after entree, a house wine (also lovely) and the Fennel Sausage Risotto which was rich in creamy sundried tomato flavour.
Paid $78 (including $10 tip) for 2 mains, 2 entree and 2 drinks.
Fantastic.
Nicest meal we've had in ages. Friendly, efficient service. Best black risotto I've ever had, excellent pan fried calamari, simple but beautiful apple/rhubarb crumble and great coffee. We'll definitely be coming back!
The gnocchi was lovely and smooth and the garlic bread was nice and generous with garlic which is good because there's nothing worse than garlic bread where they stint on the garlic! A small plate of spicy olives was a nice touch. Fairly expensive but then so are most places in this area.
Amaconis' is definitely a money-making machine, and it does tell. The food is fantastic, but we found the rushed get-them-in-get-them-out a little perturbing. Mains come out as soon as you finish starters. Drinks have to be ordered from a frantically passing waiter (if you can catch their attention).
No desserts offered.
No offer of another drink.
Disappointed.
I feel they are taking advantage of the almost six-decade reputation they have. And I would recommend a look back to the roots of this restaurant is required.
IMO
We kinda stumbled into this place. We walked past this (on our way to another Restaurant). It was busy, had a 4.2 rate, so we tried it out.
Our wait staff was really friendly. And from the interaction of the staff and customers, it appears there were a number of regular patrons. Our wait staff mentioned the business has been around for 50 something years (I can't remember the exact number). All I can think about was The restaurant was older than me. .....Since it has had such a long history, and from what we saw, it gave us plenty of confidence the food was gonna be good. Already feeling great about our choice to swing into this place. We decided to have our staff do the recommendation. We didn't even look at the menu.
He started us off with a platter of calamari, egg plant Parma, garlic mushrooms. Very yummy indeed. Especially the egg plant Parma - and I'm not even a egg plant fan!! Really surprising for me.
Then my friend saw a bowl of mussels passing us to another table - it looked good. so we asked to try that. Yep. Good choice. They were fat and juicy. And the sauce was awesome w bread. It was served with a side rice cake/patty/tart and side spinach. We polished everything. By this stage, we were full but still wanted to try something. So we got the spaghetti with prawns. Yummy.
My friend kept on going and got cheese and loved it. I had to stop myself in looking at the dessert menu (just in case I ordered. Too full already). They surprised us with a shot of port mixed with something. That was nice too. I'm not a port drinker cos the taste is a bit strong for me. But with this mix, it just went down well.
It was just a beautiful experience. It's one of them family business where staff has genuine hospitality. No wonder they managed to stay in this cut throat business for so long. They're simply good at what they do.
Wow! Sensational! Attentive service, lovely atmosphere and divine authentic cuisine! Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Will return again and again!

So delicious! We decided on a quaint restaurant for a birthday dinner are must say we more than impressed with the friendly service, generous food portions and delicious food! Thank you for a pleasurable evening.
We recently went here after reading reviews and were not disappointed! Good classic home cooked Italian food. No fancy layout, just great staff and even better food. Risotto was the best I have tasted. Share platter amazing. Everything on the menu looked amazing! Will be returning soon!
Great food. Great service. Love a place with history. Had the pasta of the day which had a beautiful duck and mushroom sauce. Would recommend to anyone.
This place us so homely. The food is a perfect comfort food italian style. Very fresh and very tasty. This is the perfect place to sit talk and eat. Slowly
Very happy with the Service too non intrusive yet so well timed and attentive. Great place.
Small cosy restaurant and very authentic Italian food. Antipasto plate to share and then Linguini Con Gamberi e Pistacchio for the main which was great. Coffee and wine were a thumbs up and I wish I had room for dessert because no doubt it would of been nice here.
This was a great last minute decision for dinner and I hadn't had carbonara for a very long time. The Caesar salad had a twist with balsamic vinegar and my friend really enjoyed his prawn tagliatelle. I loved the warm olives served as an amuse bouche but the bread was bland and didn't hold the oil. Otherwise I would have given a rating of 4.
Amiconi has been around for more than 50 years. I remember it as that great little place whet you could get 3 courses for $15!
Well prices have changed big Amiconi has not.
Great food
Generous portion sizes
Large range of menu options
Tasty well cooked but not overcooked
Delicious bruschetta
Pleasant warm efficient staff
We'll go back to this wonderful old classic.
This is a gem of a place, authentic Italian, warm hospitable staff great food, simplicity at its best- pasta was cooked perfectly sauce was tasty prawns were perfectly cooked. Coffee was perfect too
Great authentic Italian food. Terrific service. Very cosy atmosphere. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious. We cannot wait to come back.
May'17 update - Still love it and the meat is free range too!!
Sept'16 - Love love love this place! It's always busy and the food is great. They are happy to cater for gluten-free as well. The first time we saw it we didn't really like the way it looked (and still don't), but now it's our favorite in this area!
I've had recommendations about this place from a few people but finally managed to get there recently. It's a bit shabby but the place was packed.. And the service was great and the food was absolutely delishious. Will definitely be back.
Good Italian food. Rustic pasta dishes. We had the shared plate and that was a good amount of food. The tiramisu was ok. I really liked the canolli. Cream wasnt over bearing. Right amount of sweetness and crisp pastry.
Didn’t see a change table. Staff like kids. 👍

Pretty yumm.
Not fancy or edgy like some of the restaurants and cafes in the area. I love fancy and edgy and too be honest I initially thought this place was a little daggy. But when the antipasto came out it changed my mind we executed, tasty and fresh. The pasta that followed was also a treat. We will definitely be going back. (Sorry Amiconi I didn't like your caesar salad tho)
Greatest place for authentic Italian food in Melbourne. Don't tell anyone else as it gets very crowded! The food is consistently AMAZING and staff always welcoming.
The best Italian meal I've had since being in Tuscany three years ago.
The owners and staff are fantastic, felt like part of the family.
The food is outstanding and the wine oh my lovely.
Would recommend to everyone to try. We will be back soon.
We ate there last night with a group of friends and decided on the $59pp banquet. A great selection of dishes with the eggplant parmigiana and delicious calamari just outstanding. The profiteroles and coffee finished our meal perfectly. A small restaurant so booking is essential. Staff excellent and can't fault the service. Will definitely be going back again soon.
Really enjoyed this place and the gnocchi were right up there and there deserts were pretty good as well. Would definitely recommend if you want good Italian food
Seriously best Italian in melbs, I prefer to cook my own pastas but I Love there carbonara, great family service! Awesome venue with charecter.
Amazing!!! We received awesome service and enjoyed delicious food. It will be hard to go anywhere else when staying in Melbourne in the future!! The egg plant Parma and the risotto were my favourites but the seafood pasta, flathead fillets, and carbonara wet all fantastic as we shared our food because everything was so tempting!!!
Delicious home style food and very generous serving sizes, the wine list is mercifully brief yet compliments the dishes on offer very well. The service is excellent and friendly in a warm and cozy environment. A must try for any lover of food.
came to the restaurant for my birthday and had the Da Vinci banquet it was AMAZING Every course was just at good as the last, i have uploaded a few photos from the night, I cannot rate this place high enough.Perfect Date night & family night out.
Lives up to its rating. Amiconi is noisy, tightly packed and serviced by an absolutely marvellous staff which collectively gives the establishment a true buzz, Parking is easy (not like Lygon and Brunswick Streets). Prices very reasonable, and little touches such as a complementary dish of olives, and later a Madeira to finish put the final touch to true hospitality. Well worth the trek from the leafy Eastern suburbs. Do book,it is very sought after !
Mums 75th birthday. We booked here for mums birthdsy and ordered the banquet and was amazing lots and lots of food . We couldn't fit any more food in lol . The waiters were fantastic . Highly recommend it .. Nancy
Very happy with the food and the service. Attentive without being over the top. Will return.
Hands down best Italian in Melbourne. I dream about the calamari and tho I try and emulate the gnocchi I just can't get even close. This is a pizza free zone and its rustic but boy oh boy is it good. But please don't tell anyone because it's hard enough to get a table. Service is wonderful decor is crap but this place is the bomb
The place had a warm, friendly feel to it. The staff were courteous and amicable, and our waitress was very helpful in her suggestions of how much we should order. Service was prompt, and our food came out not too long after we placed our orders – although this may be because we needed to finish by 7.30; my friend Ben reported that last time he attended a work function here, service was slow and they didn’t finish their food until 11pm. But on this occasion it was satisfactory.
So much to like .. Excellent service, great pastas, veal & fish. If you have room for sweets, go the three deserts .., more than enough for three or more people. Busy on a Monday night..says it all
Nice surprise. We wanted good homestyle cooked Italian food and we weren't disappointed. Now I'm Italian and when you walk in and see a bunch of other Italians sitting there you know it must be good. The food was very authentic and dare I say it, even better than what my my own mother cooks! I was most looking forward to dessert though as I had been craving cannoli for I don't know how long - unfortunately no-one really stocks them in Geelong now...and again not disappointed. The decor is nothing flash and you won't find any up to date fancy crockery, but that's not what it's about. It's the food that counts, and it was delicious! I strongly recommend the antipasto plate to share as you get to try lots of different delicious morsels - again not what I expected. Instead of a plate of salami, olives and sun dried tomatoes, there was grilled baby octopus, stuffed mushrooms, boccancini balls, grilled capsicum amongst some other delights! Bon Appetit!
This restaurant I save for special occasions. It's not the fanciest but it warms my heart in every way. The staff, the home cooked flavours and the cosy decor. Truly lovely. Order the banquet! You will be full for a week but it gives you a chance to try a good selection of their best dishes.
Cosy little italian bistro. My parents have been coming here for years so I thought I'd continue the tradition.
I was warmly greeted by the very lovely and friendly waitress.
The food is delicious and satisfying. The stand out dish for the evening was the eggplant parmigiana YUM! I'm still thinking about it the next day.
Never disappoints. Beautiful flavours. The decor adds to the experience. Well done!

The Regular. This is my regular Italian restaurant. They are like family now after going there for several years. The service is exceptional to start with and as soon as you walk in, you feel a sense of being in a small alley in Europe drinking a nice red. We have been here for birthdays, business lunches and dinners, it never gets old. My personal favourite is the Baby Octopus, not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The other favourite is the pork risotto. I have never had a bad meal here and the staff always go out of their way to help. Coupled with a number of good reds and you have had your number one meal for the week.
Love love love. Rib eye (bucket of sauce), Baby octopus yum. Quail yum. Chicken livers yum. Currently waiting for my passion fruit soufflé (cold). Bout to die. Fantasia. Hermes. Divine. Oma (oh my Allah)
Lunch at Amiconi. If you're working in the area and want a semi-quick lunch, skip Amiconi. Our table of 6 (ok, there were a few of us for such a small restaurant) our food took 45 minutes to arrive. The flavours were good, and servings were to be expected, but I do think the pasta was slightly overcooked, I have been before this and the pasta was better. Great atmosphere inside, authentic Italian restaurant-style. Worth a try, but take your time.
Very nice but I probably would not return. The menu choice & flavours were very good. Serve sides for mains were average for the price - which we felt were a little on the high side, The dessert choice was lovely and plentiful. The biggest distraction is the noise. Clearly this establishment has a big following - totally full but the small space means you can't hear yourself think. We're pleased to have been but being squashed in isn't our idea of a relaxed meal.
My first visit to Amiconi. I was given a warm welcome by Michele and his staff. My son and I enjoyed a wonderful meal during my recent visit to Melbourne. I don't eat a lot of Italian food, however, after dining at Amiconi I was blown away by the tasty Garlic Mushrooms and the homemade pasta. The bruschetta was a nice touch too with a lovely glass of red wine. Thank you Michele I can't wait to get back to Melbourne to dine at your restaurant.
A traditional Italian restaurant that serves homemade style pastas.
Great lunch!. Lunch special is excellent value, service fantastic and beautiful food. Thank you
Continues to impress. Our party of four dined at Amiconi this week after a 20 year absence due overseas postings. It was a pleasure to meet Michael again and enjoy the wonderful food and service. The garlic mushrooms and the bruschetta we shared for entree were delicious as were the calamari and pasta main dishes. The wine list is a good mix of local and imported wines and contained a gem of a sangiovese from the King Valley. This restaurant still provides some of the best family Italian food in Melbourne at reasonable prices.
Searching the net for a nice restaurant in North Melbourne I decided on Amiconi after checking out their sexy website.
Upon arriving my friends & I were a bit taken back by the shop front however I am glad this didn't detour us.
The menu was full of top dishes which made it hard to pick just one. The waiters and service was fantastic.
Food was spot on - all five of us ordered different dishes and all five of us were envious of what each other ordered!
Would highly recommend.
The best Caesar salad in Melbourne. Also must try the balsamic calamari - all the pastas are perfect and fresh. Michael does a great job at adding a very friendly, family touch to what has to be the best Italian in North Melbourne.
Good local Italian. This is a great little place for a nice atmosphere, great food and friendly service. I've only been on a Wednesday, so that probably needs to be taken into accunt - it was half full. Very impressed though.
The one concern is the pricing. $18.50 for an entree sized risotto is a bit steep. My veal was $34 from memory. This isn't a 5 star restaurant - sorry, perhaps 3.5 stars - it should be priced accordingly. For a 3.5 star restaurant, it is fantastic in every other regard
If you are after something traditional , flavour , fantastic presentation and friendly staff. Amiconi would have to be one of the best places to go. Amiconi has now become our second home. the food is just to die for , only food you have honestly say is made with love. I can't say I have ever had a bad experience or a bad meal. have always left there satisfied and smiling. Amiconi this the type of place you want to tell the world about but in the next breathe keep it a secret. the restaurant is cosy which is a good thing, you don't have to worry about bein lost waiting around or just another customer. Great bunch of boys running the restaurant and to see smiling friendly faces, makes a pleasant experience every time. Their pasta is absolutely second to none, and if you get a chance make room and have some of their desert. you won't have tried anything like there desert. just melts in your mouth.
Would recommend to anyone
Consistently great food, friendly staff and great environment. Love this place - have been going for about 20 years and its one of Melbournes best old fashioned restaurants.
I love this classic Italian family restaurant & have done for many many years. If you wish to experience friendly service & honest family style food, then you'll not be disappointed. I've never had a bad experience here & it's patronage is testament to this.
What a delightful meal experience. Yummm
Consistently good. Went to Amiconi again last night, this time with interstate visitors. Food was very fresh and tasty. Homemade gnocci was a big hit, as was the Veal...delicious. You can't go wrong visiting this place if you're after Italian food "just like mamma used to make". Lovely homestyle italian cooking and service with a smile!
Old favourite, still good. This restaurant fell off my radar for a few years, but have recently been a few times. Service always friendly and efficient, food always reliably good. The veal scallopine with lemon last week was delicious. Took some visitors from W.A. for dinner also - they loved it. too. The risotto funghi with pesto look amazing. You need to get there early if you haven't booked, as it always seems to be full, even on a Monday night. Daily specials too , up the back of the menu so you can never be bored with the choices, even on repeat repeat visits. YUM !
Italian Food at its best. This has to be the best italian restaurant going around , small , but the food never lets you down so much so that after dining here on many occasions and never being let down I have to write a review about how good this place is . The Calamari Fritti and Calamari ai Ferri are my 2 favourite meals and for my cousin from Italy to say that is the best Linguini Marinara he has ever eaten tells you a little about the place and just how good it is.
Quality meal. Really enjoyed the meal, calamari and eggplant parm are really good
Great Italian. I ate there last night with my partner and parents. We arrived at 6:30 and we were the only people there. It quickly filled up as we were ordering. The service was exceptional and the food was great. I am definitely going back.
Me and my partner always go here. Like maybe once a week for the last 1.5 years. And there has never been anything to my disliking. Service is amazing and you feel very welcomed. The food is always to perfection. Try the gnocci a la matticiana. Love it!
Perfect date. Enjoyed a lovely gnocci and profiteroles for dessert. Gnocci was to perfection. Would recommend!
Pasta perfection. We have been here several times over the last few months and on every occasion have found nothing to fault. The service is excellent - attentive even when very busy (which it frequently is so book a table!). The calamari is the best we have had in Melbourne (of about 20 places we have tried) and having had pasta/ fish and meat dishes on our visits we have always enjoyed everyone. The mixed dessert platter is great if you still have room but personally the pancakes with berries are my favourite. Can't recommend the place highly enough.
Great Food and Service. Nice cosy place which tends to fill up quickly so best to book ahead. Food is consistently great, as is the service. Attentive waiters and nothing is ever too much trouble. Tend to stick to our favs, Calamari, Tagliatelle Alla Carbonara,
Gnocchi Alla Mattriciana, Tortellini Ai Funghi, and all are delicious. Can get a bit noisy at times, which hasnt bothered us but may bother others. I have at times, when its just the two of us, felt a little too close to other couples at the table next to us. Small price to pay for excellent food and service in my opinion.
Amazing!. Great italian food. One of the best antipasti I ever had! I can't wait to comeback.
Great little Italian restaurant. My wife and I went Friday night. Great spot, friendly staff, great food, byo, what else do you need. We had bruschetta, calamari, gnocchi, and desert plate to share. Calamari, gnocchi, and tiramisu were the standouts. Great traditional family restaurant. We'll be back and we'll take family and friends. You need to book. Enjoy!
Wow, what a lovely little restaurant! Great atmosphere, excellent service and the food is to die for. If you're after Italian this is the place to come and very reasonably priced. I had the bruschetta to start and the gnocchi matricciana as a main and the food has scored a solid 8/10 in my book.
Little gem. Stumbled across Amiconi driving out of the CBD, looking for a quick meal to take home. Walked in as the restaurant appeared full bar a couple of seats (on a Tuesday night).
Was a little skeptical after a quick browse of the menu, as I had pasta on the mind and was not presented with many options. Decided on the Gnocchi Amatriciana, Carbonarra and garlic bread – did not regret!
Gnocchi was fresh and flavourful with subtle chilli and shallots. The Carbonara creamy with plenty of bacon. Garlic bread tasted of olive oil, but did not leave that distinct artificial garlic aftertaste (as so many do). Only ordered entrée pasta but was very filling.
Was pleasantly surprised by the quick service, as room was full of diners. Waiter offered warm olives and a glass of water while waiting! Will definitely be back (with friends) to dine in. Small restaurant, dimly lit but adds to the cozy atmosphere. (no eftpos – cash or credit only)
Only complaint I have is how quickly I received my order – didn’t have time to finish all my olives!
We were treated to the most amazing service in Melbourne and the most amazing Marinara! It contains seafood that is so fresh and moist it's like they jumped onto our plates from the sea! Mushroom entree was so delicious and the semi freddo with toffee... YUM! Will be back!
Amazing food. Worth every dollar and service is great. Always very busy for a reason and highly recommend
Great gnocchi. Unpretentious but sophisticated Italian food. Ordered an antipasto plate to share, bread to share, linguini marinra for the wife, and gnocchi all matriciana for myself. Gnocchi was the standout, they were like great gnocchi should be: soft and a great complement to the matriciana sauce. Antipasto plate was also very good, came with a lot of goodies like arancini, baby octopus, sundried tomatoes, artichokes, fritatta, garlic mushrooms, et al. Baby octopus was tender, not crunchy. Only two things could be improved on. First, the wife wasn't impressed by her marinara because some seafood was overcooked. Secondly, the olive oil with the bread smelt funny. Other than that, this is one of the bet Italians in Melbourne that I have tried.
This is one for the favorites list. Cosy little place with excellent food and good service. We'll be back.
Wonderful food with wonderful staff. If you appreciate traditional Italian food then you can't go past this restaurant. Can't wait to experience it again.
Warm Italian Classic. Usually packed but an option if you are eating out a little later. Great for a vegetarian with a vege parma on the menu.Best in winter with a BYO bottle of wine for a warm and familiar tasty meal. Forget Lygon street, this seems more authentic Italian and has been there for years.
If you drive by - stop!. We came as a drive by (not my neighbourhood) and stopped because the restaurant was full on a Wednesday night and the diners looked happy. I am very keen to come back. They understand presentation here. The tiramisu alone looked amazing and was delicious but presentation on all our mains was also excellent. More importantly the food was lovely, with generous serves. If you do not have a big appetite, save space for dessert.
According to our waiter, this restaurant has been here for years; clearly they have not become complacent. This is not haute cuisine, this is great value, very good food and a lovely atmosphere. I'm looking for an excuse to head back to North Melbourne......
Nice simple Italian food. It is a nice place. We had a set course meal for a our work Christmas party - it was good. Probably too much alcohol was consumed to give you a thorough rundown of the menu and quality of the food so the attached pics must suffice.
If you are a first timer to Amiconi's, you must try the banquet. Absolutely delicious. You will not be dissapointed!!
I have been dining at Amiconi for years and truly enjoyed my experience last Saturday. I started with their delicious bruschetta, followed with their famous gnocchi and authentic italian salad before finishing off with the freshest profiteroles I have ever tasted.
Combined with their warm and welcoming service and cosy surrounds is why this is Melbourne's best Italian restaurant. I have been here for a casual night out and for special occasions. This restaurant is popular so don't forget to book for a Saturday night.
Eggplant parmagiana. Simply one of the best Italian restaurants that I have tried in Melbourne.
The eggplant parmagiana is amazing here, as are the garlic mushrooms. The gnocchi is soft & fluffy and the rare steak always comes out rare, never overcooked.
And it's BYO!
It can sometimes be a little noisy, but well worth it for the food.
BlueToad. Went there with a friend for lunch. We had the $28 express lunch which included a choice of entree, main and coffee, with a glass of wine and port and biscotti. Great value and the service and food were exemplary. I was particulary impressed with the garlic mushrooms as an entree and the chicken fillets as a main were also a good choice, although the sweet sauce was a bit overpowering. The ambience of this small Italian restuarant is homily with what appears to be family photos on the walls. I would definitely recommend this ristorante.
Pat Forge. We booked a table for four and enjoyed great service, Wine was reasonably priced. Next time we'll BYO and hope the corkage charge is reasonable.
Spaghetti Marina, Gnocchi, Calamari and Risotto were our individual choices. The Calamari was outstanding but the others were all fine. Beautiful bread and olives were a nice touch. Will definitely go again

Homely. Great homestyle food, you have to try the melt in your mouth gnocchi and eggplant parmagiana to name a few.
Nice and cosy too.
Home Style Italian. This is the place to go if you want to have good home style Italian food at a very reasonable price. Our first visit as we joined another couple who have made this restaurant their favourite. I can understand why.
Really good value for money and by that I don't mean just heaped up plates, I mean food that isn't too fancy, but cooked with passion with good ingredients. Taste is right up there.
Although busy, service was spot on.
I can recommend Amiconi - we will be back to work our way through the menu.
Best Italian banquet. We went to amiconi last night for a bday dinner. Everyone ordered the banquet which cost $59 each. Corkage is only $3.50 per person so you can take your own wine and it does not cost a fortune! What an amazing meal. We had about 8 different courses....I was honestly so full at the end. What great value for money. It was a feast! I think everyone was pretty happy with the meal and I saw a couple of buttons coming undone!
Our original Italian choice was unfortunately closed on Mondays, so we asked our friend’s Italian friend, and they recommended Aroncino. They do make really good food, but they did something we were definitely not happy about. This small family operated Italian restaurant has been around for 57 years. It’s very cozy and dim, could be a nice place for a romantic dinner. We ordered the Garlic Mushrooms, and Plato Misto which allowed us to choose 3 entree (half orders) sized portions for $50. Pretty good, you save a few bucks because most of them cost $19 or more. We selected the Tortellini Ai Funghi, Risotto Con Pesto & Funghi, and Tagliatelle Alla Carbonara. The garlic mushrooms were yummy, but pretty pricey for the $18. There were only 4 two-bite mushrooms slathered with a delicious buttery garlic sauce. The mushrooms were soft, and salty. Definitely could have came with more for $19. We also ordered Bruschetta all Sicilliana, which was a bit different. It w
