The best Italian restaurant I have been too, beautiful fresh food, friendly staff and a great old fashion atmosphere.Highly recommend Amiconi !
One of the best restaurants in Melbourne. Always a favourite of ours. The service and food is always first class. Michael is an excellent host who always manages to have a pleasant conversation with all the diners.
What can I say about this place, such an fantastic meal !!
There were four of us dining, we thought we had booked ahead online, but somehow there was an issue and our booking was never registered.
But they still managed to squeeze us in, although outside. Being a barmy Summer Saturday evening there were no issues from us, apart from not much space on the table.
All four of us agreed what a wonderful meal we all had.
The staff were very friendly and good humoured.
We WILL return the next time we are in town !!!
With a craving for spag bol I made the right choice in heading to Amiconi. The staff were lovely, the service quick and they added in some garlic bread just to really top off my takeaway experience!
I had a surprisingly wonderful experience at Amiconi! There are so many Italian restaurants in Melbourne and sometimes it’s tricky to know which one to trust and which one to stay away from. Well, Amiconi is definitely worth a visit! Everything from the antipasto to the desserts is fresh and home made. I had dinner with a few friends and we all enjoyed everything we ordered. I highly recommend the antipasto platter and the pastas. Desserts are wonderful too. I think you’ll be happy with whatever you order to be honest. For all the Italians out there... don’t judge a book by its cover! This restaurant might be old school, but it delivers great Italian food!
Delightful restaurant with handmade pasta and great sauces. Linguine and tiger prawns was divine. Tender veal. Old fashioned, gracious service. Small space, so book in advance.
Authentic old-established Italian and excellent!
Amiconi’s is a small, authentically Italian bistro in North Melbourne that has been operating under family ownership for 58 years. The food is excellent. Marvellous entrees include garlic mushrooms, zucchini flowers and others, while the full range of Italian mains from vitello to quaglie and coniglio are on offer. An excellent website displays the choices. The host, Michael Cardamone greets his guests, many of whom have been coming for decades. Authentic and excellent. From the CBD, take #57 tram northbound in Elizabeth St and get off at the corner of Victoria and Errol Sts..
I've gone past this place on the tram every day to work and never expected anything, but this is a little gem hidden away in West Melbourne. Work dinner brought us here and immediately greeted with warm smiles into a nice villa style restaurant. Although it was a bit squishy inside as you were knocking the elbows of those seated next to you, the food was impeccable.
A mixture of comfort Italian food done at a high standard, Osso Bucco special was amazing and really reminded what home-style dishes were all about. Garlic mushrooms were quite nice and the eggplant parmigiana was exceptional. Would not have expected anything like it. We were seated in a dark spot of the room and couldn't get any photos but this is a definitely a must try.
Amiconi has the best Gnocchi I’ve ever had & the best staff. The customer service was really really impressive. Amazing atmosphere and such a convenient location. 5 stars.
Unbelievable!
We first visited Amiconi approx 20 years ago and have visited quite a number of times since. Always pleased.
The quality of the food and the lively busy atmosphere is testament to the attention the long time owners put into ensuring continuing high customer satisfaction.
We dined with friends from interstate and they could not believe a little Italian restaurant like this could put out such fantastic dishes.
The veal, as always - magnificent as are any of the pasta dishes. For the quality of the food, prices are quite reasonable.
Excellent authentic food with good service and a nice rustic decor. BYO is a plus.
Both of the Calimari dishes both fried and grilled with the caramelised onion is delish!
Walked in on a Friday night, no reservations, near full, they made up a table for us, food came out super quick, main landed on the table as we finished entree (bruschetta was amazing).
Lovely staff, meal sizes were generous, left full after entree, a house wine (also lovely) and the Fennel Sausage Risotto which was rich in creamy sundried tomato flavour.
Paid $78 (including $10 tip) for 2 mains, 2 entree and 2 drinks.
Fantastic.
