I'm a huge fan of Koko Black's delectable chocolates, so I made sure to grab some before the lockdown just in time for Easter. They had an amazing display of Easter eggs, and I couldn't resist buying a few to take home. Hubby nabbed a huge dark chocolate and cashew egg, whilst I grabbed a cute tin of chocolate bunnies and crispy eggs.
My favourite thing about this particular store is the cute aqua coffee cart out the front of the store. Such a great idea for grabbing a takeaway, and of course their coffee is excellent too. Both the staff inside and out were lovely and friendly, and it's enough to keep me returning to Koko Black for the finest quality chocolates.

Koko black now smartly built an outdoor drink cart - very attractive to those shopping in the area and in need of a drink! The mocha I had was okay - there wasn’t a strong dosage of chocolate which usually makes the drink extra delicious. Caffeine was sufficient to wake me up and quite standard.
The star of the show was the iced chocolate! it came with salted caramel ice cream and was just so good on a hot summer day! I kept sneaking sips off my friend’s drink cos it was just delicious - especially the salted caramel ice cream! The dessert drink is priced at a hefty $9, but worth it!
I didn't feel like a full hot chocolate but felt like having some chocolate so the kids hot chocolate was a good idea at this visit. It was a cute little cup and had some chocolate art on top. The hot chocolate was very creamy and wasn't as sweet. Just what I felt like!
I had the lucky opportunity to experience Koko Black’s latest collaboration with Dan Hunter, and what a treat it was! We tried the Chocolate Bomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and the Praline Tasting Plate. Of the three, my favourite has to be the Ice Cream Sandwich - I loved the salty and sweet flavours, and the crumbly biscuit paired with the cool and creamy ice cream. The Chocolate Bomb was very light, like marshmallow, although I wasn’t the biggest fan of the roasted wattle seed flavour. The Praline Tasting Plate came in an assortment of three - I loved both the Strawberry Gum ganache and Salted macadamia caramel the most.
Tried the Koko Black x Dan Hunter Range with the 3 different desserts and quite enjoyed it. My fav was definitely the ice cream sandwich because the cold helped to cut through some of the sweetness. I didn’t enjoy the chocolate bomb as much as it was very very sweet.’the belgian hot choc was really rich and warmed me up!

As a big fan of dark chocolate, Koko Black is a great place to get my chocolate desserts.
Wonderful place to buy chocolate gifts. Price is at the higher end but I love the varieties they have.
Their iced chocolate is to die for. I got addicted to it ever since I first drank it. Though the last time I came, their iced chocolate was far too milky and lack of the chocolate flavour I remember, they probably add too much milk to it.
Would love to come back here again soon.
A decadent hot chocolate that for me, rivals Godiva. Always busy by day with meetings of business people at the top end of town and the odd tourist that wanders in.
Love a pretty cake with a lot of different textures and layers. I forgot what cake this was, but it was pretty yummy, and a bit too sweet. I like their hot chocolate here - very creamy and chocolately.
Friendly staff, hot chocolate was nice $7. Had the Belgium cup, sat inside, good atmosphere. Recommend as a place to catch up with a couple of friends for a goss season!

This morning’s strong almond milk latte was bought in Koko black. My timing is perfect, as it was Valentine’s day they had some divine caramel heart filled chocolates to sample whilst you waited.
The coffee was nice and strong the almond milk slightly sweet and it all went very well with my Valentine’s Day chocolate.
Passed by this place and it looked classic from the outside, then had my afternoon hot chocolate here. It was pretty crowded. Hot belgian chocolate with orange flavor was my favorite here , affogato was great and I love the hot chocolates here, ambience was abit classic and pretty comfy. Service was quite friendly.
First up, what a beautiful building to sit down in and enjoy a hot chocolate on a cold winters day. Hubby enjoyed his chilli hot chocolate and I loved my orange hot chocolate. It really hit the spot.
Oh and I loved all the samples placed out on the counter tops. Kicking myself I didn't buy a bag of the dark chocolate peppermint buttons. Oh well, it's a good excuse to go back I guess.
I like their interesting products such as large chunks of honeycomb covered chocolate and truffle chocolates that you can buy from the store. If you feel inclined to indulge yourself in some hot chocolate and chocolates in the cafe, the chocolate is rich and velvety. The price is, of course, also on another level.

I wanted to end my food tour of Collins Street on a sweet note so I paid a visit to Koko Black. It has a nice look to it, very classy and a bit of old world charm as well. Oh and they do some mean chocolate treats as well. I ordered a hazelnut hot chocolate and a black forest gateau and both were delicious.
The hazelnut hot chocolate was nice and rich, a little bit sweet and with that awesome hazelnut nutty taste and texture. The gateau was mouthwateringly good. Rich, sweet and damn tasty. No wonder they call chocolate 'devil food' hehe. Definitely worth a visit chocoholics :)
The place has great selection of chocolate. It's got all sort of varieties. They do gift packs too. The service is quick and friendly. Like their packaging too.
The upstairs seating has a nice ambience and olden day looking furniture. Service is a bit slow when busy, but worth it and still pleasant. The hot chocolate is delicious, although the coffee was a bit too bitter. Portions are pretty good.
I tried its belgian, hazelnut, and chili hot chocolate and it tastes really good. I love its hazelnut handcrafted chocolate the most. I enjoy my time chilling in their cafe served by the friendly staffs.
Cozy place to go for catchups. Their hot chocolate is pretty good although I find it that can be a little bit watered down at times when I visit. Their desert degustation had pretty interesting items that were great.
Situated in a lovely old building. The prices are high, but usually the offerings are of a very high standard. Worth a visit for a bit of chocolate indulgence.
Always love coming here to satisfy my sweet tooth in a stylish setting. French Handbag reluctantly got dragged in, but pretty sure he secretly enjoyed it. Had the dark chocolate, with hard mandarin filling. This was softened with the small jug of ko ko black chocolate provided, drizzled over the top! dessert was ver soft and elegant. A couple of mouthfuls was enough to satisfy.
Just passing on way to an appointment and couldn't resist having a treat. A hot chocolate drink and a chocolate mousse- totally wicked, but wonderful!

Dark salted caramel chocolate in and around my mouth at kokoblackchocolate 🙊And yes they have gluten free as is most of the chocolates on the menu. All are labelled with clear guides as to what is gluten &nut free! & the soy cappuccinos are bomb. The cafe is dim, romantic and cosy. There's nothing not to love about Koko black
Rating it 5 cause I absolutely loved iced chocolate. The taste of chocolate of smooth and it was blended perfect. It had chocolate ice cream and ice cream of great taste .
The place is classy and every piece of chocolate was tempting , I'm definitely going to try every chocolate dessert of the menu before I leave the Melbourne.
Koko Black is a popular chain coffee shop that carries a great variety of truffles and chocolates, as well as chocolate shaving hot cocoa. They also have an in house cafe where they serve their hot cocoa and other desserts - all of which look quite good! I really wanted to try their iced hot chocolate, but I stuffed from lunch...
The packaging is classy (but overall everything is a bit expensive), make great gifts, and the cute bunnies in the window are beckoning you to indulge yourself!
I really like Koko Black, they have a solid hot chocolate. I do prefer the chili chocolate as it isn't too rich and has a nice spice to it. I also really enjoy their chocolates, personal favorite is the sea salt chocolate. I would suggest to buy the chocolates than dessert plates as our apple crumble panacotta was rather bland.
The dessert was really good. The ambience was really nice and the customer service was amazing. I do not remember what i ordered now (attached is a picture) but the chocolate was smooth and delicious.
Famous for its chocolate and CBD store is especially renowned for its delicious hot chocolate. It is creamy and rich, which chocolate lovers will feel like it's heaven.
I had the Apple Crumble Panna Cotta and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate. The taste of the Panna Cotta was right with a nice apple mixture at the bottom with crumbly base. Texture of the Panna Cotta was not quite right as it was more cheesecake like rather than wobbly texture it should be. The hot chocolate tasted nice. Service was very good.
Don't need to address my love to Koko Black as it's my top choice when I think of chocolate.
Though I had a lot of them before but dine in is the first time. We had ice chocolate ( in such cold weather!!!) and chocolate mousse, it sounds cliche but it's always the best way to tell it's quality. (The simplest is the hardest! )
The staff are really nice, it was all packed on Sunday afternoon, we had really good service. I accidentally dropped the chocolate on my sweater and was trying to remove the stain, the staff handed me a wet towel when she walked pass without me asking for help!
That's a sweet move.
The ice chocolate is so rich, unlike normal ice chocolate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it has dark chocolate flavour! You can taste the richness of different texture of chocolate so as the mousse. The shredded chocolate, a piece of dark chocolate. I feel I am in a modern version of Charlie and the Chocolate factory!
We are frequent visitors to Koko Black; to both their CBD and Carlton salon locations.
We have never had a disappointing experience at Koko Black; the coffee and tea are great and when pairing with a truffle or two, it's impossible to go wrong!
The decor is lovely with its leather chairs/couches and antique-style chandeliers; it provides a charming and cosy atmosphere.
Best chocolateria. Reserve it for special occasions or for days you want some sweet to pull you up. Their chocolate is the best around and dark chocolates are great too.
Regular belgian hot choco, nothing special for me. Somehow overrated since the price is slightly expensive, but i love the front store open air area on collins, great ambience
Better than Block Arcade store. We were told by the Block Arcade store that we needed to wait for a table for at least 20 minutes. This store (Collin St) had plenty of space, no waiting required, much more comfortable seats and the staff was very friendly. Tried the tasting plate, which had chocolates, chocolate mousse, chocolate ice-cream and the like between four people and we were all full and satisfied. The drinks were excellent too. Will come back to this store from now on.
...Koko Black has a beautiful classic interior, which makes customers feel like they are eating at a lux...
Love this place. I love this place, people refer to it as my "other office". The hot chocolate is velvety smooth, rich and delicious but the cup is very large. I tend to order the baby iced chocolate, which seems to contain all the icecream and chocolate of its big brother, but with less milk. Very delicious with none of the ice block fillers you get at some places. They also give you a spoon to allow you to mix it properly and finish off any icecream that won't go up the straw. The upholstered chairs, if you can snaffle one, makes it hard to leave. The staff are just delightful. The only downside I have is the coffee machine is so loud it is hard to hold conversations. Highly recommended.
Nice coffee, nice surroundings and pleasant stuff. Love it.
We visited city and enjoyed excellent coffees and wonderful service at Koko Black. Definitely worth a return visit. Yummy!!!
Chilli Hot Chocolate. The concept baffles but the taste blows your mind. Very Very Very Good Hot chocolate...
Friendly staff n great choc. The staff were nice and friendly and the mousse.. just melt my heart!! the weather may cold, but this place just warm me up :)
A masterpiece.. Beautiful decor, well thought out display and heavenly delights definitely made my visit here worth remembering.
I have heard alot about koko black before. Previously I had visited other chocolate lounges and cafes but none comes close to this one.
The staff: Perfect. I almost thought they came out of some assembly line. They were all perfect. The only staff this perfect I have come across was at a 3 michelin star restaurant in Hong Kong (Caprice). Greeted me without making me feel the rush to make a decision. Showed me a table and gave me just enough time to browse. There were only two staff on the floor, one wait staff and one barista. But they managed superbly, I know cafes with 6 staff that get nothing done.
I was then given my 3 choices of chocolate as well as their hot belgium chocolate. It was all amazing. I could not praise this place enough. Do go, you will not regret it. Worth every minute of your time.
I have tried a lot of the hot chocolate on offer in our fair city. KoKo black does a wonderful job of making it not too thick not too milky. Lovely stuff
My coffee was strong and hot and definitely hit the spot I was looking to fill. The brownie was more crumbly than what I had expected and..
I was extended an invitation to try out Koko Black’s latest summer menu and visited the Collins Street salon with J. J had confessed of her obsession with Koko Black many times, so I knew that I had a knowledgeable expert with me in tow. Her general love for desserts also armed her with extra credentials to review the new menu. We arrived a few hours ahead of our scheduled appointment because I actually had a high tea session to attend in the afternoon. The staff were happy enough to accommodate us and ran us through the new additions as well as some old favourites. It was very very difficult to choose our orders as there were so many tantalising options on the menu. After much agonising analysis, debate, and contemplation, we decided on a Mango Spectacular, the Salted Caramel Delice and a Belgian Mousse. J sensibly ordered a tea so as to counteract the sweetness, and the staff generously brought me a Hot Chocolate Affogato. The vanilla bean ice cream that featured in these desserts was an absolute standout in terms of flavour, texture and taste. Of the desserts, my favourite was the Mango Spectacular followed closely by the Salted Caramel Delice. The coconut crumble in the Mango Spectacular was addictively crunchy and I felt similarly about the gooey dollops of crunchy caramel toffee at the centre of the Salted Caramel Delice. Thanks again to BeKnown and Koko Black for such a wonderfully indulgent experience.
Koko Black is always one of my favourite places to go for hot chocolate. The one on the Royal Arcade is always pack. It's really hard to get a table. I decided to catch a tram to the Koko Black on the Paris end of Collins St. This one has less people.
I ordered the traditional Belgium Hot Chocolate and the Caramel Delice. The hot chocolate is great and the caramel delice is good. It's caramel, so expect it to be sweet. After I finished both of them, I honestly sweet out. Hahaha 🤣
FANCY CHOCOLATES AND A GOOD PLACE FOR A BITE AND HOT CHOCOLATE :)
Located opposite Collins Place, Koko Black maintains the "luxury" feel of this end of Collins Street.
Good range of chocolates, cakes and small pastries. Decent coffees and of course, hot chocolate.
For people with mobility issues there is a small step up at entry but otherwise fully flat and ample room to negotiate a wheelchair or frame .
Best hot chocolates in town. Although the cakes and dessert options are wonderful, I prefer to choose a couple of chocolates to have with a hot chocolate. The boxed chocolates make luxurious gifts.
Coming straight from Switzerland and very close from both France and Belgium, I really had high expectations when I came to visit and try Koko Black in Australia as I've been told that the brand was well known for its excellent chocolate. Well I surely haven't been disappointed ! The service was very good, the place is lovely and the chocolates are simply amazing ! I loved it !
Had the Chocolate and Salted Caramel Tart and the Black Forest Cake. The black forest was more mousse than anything, hardly any sponge but it was still good. We also had a Hot Chocolate and a Espresso and Caramel Frappe. I would’ve preferred the espresso and caramel frappe without as much ice as it was hard to drink but it was still good.
Top notch experience. I went in about 15 mins early for my catch up. The guys were so lovely, talked to me about what drink to have, got me water, no hassles about the fact that I won't order for another 15-20 mins and even give me taster chocolate. Fantastic. I definitely will come back.
