We came across this delightful restaurant by chance when walking down one of the many lanes found in Melbourne. Italian themed, the menu should satisfy most diners and we went for a veal dish and the fish ( King Whiting ) and chips and they were both outstanding.
Fresh produce, generous servings and great tasting food were very much appreciated, and the desserts were even better. Outstanding !!
The wine list was quite extensive although from a price perspective, they were at the higher end but full of quality.
Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience and this restaurant is highly recommended.
Nice pasta, elegant surrounds. A go to Italian for me.
It’s a good restaurant, it’s been there forever, etc. The food was good but not great. The crumbed sardines were more crumb than sardine and putting mayonnaise on the side in lieu of flavour is getting old. The steak was excellent, as were the deserts. Side dishes were smallish in size and moderately-priced. Excellent wine list. Service was good and quick and the staff were attentive and polite.
Was there last weekend and like our last visit in September last year we were not disappointed. We came all the way from Darwin to Melbourne for my daughters birthday.
Service was extremely pleasant very helpful and great knowledge of wine. Meal was fantastic. The Hanger Steak just melts in your mouth.Great experience will be back again when we are in Melbourne.
Melbourne has many Italian restaurants but few stand the test of time. Becco has been able to blend elements of fine dining with an edge of casual. The staff were attentive, the wine list extensive and the menu had many of the classic Italian dishes but with a modern take. The food tasted great and the portions were generous relative to what you’d expect for this type of restaurant. We dined here mid week and I was able to get a last minute reservation for 7pm.
Great service, great food. Portions slightly on the smallish side, but excellent cooking. I ordered from the daily specials; Spaghettini with scallops and breadcrumbs, and Braised lamb shanks with sides of thin cut chips and Italian coleslaw. Waitering staff are many and are professional, very prompt and attentive. Great atmosphere and not too noisy, once you can find the right door to enter! Prices make it a special occasion or expense account venue
Had a really delightful meal here on Saturday night. The oysters were fresh and tasty, the linguini special with prawns was delicious. My snapper fillet was well cooked and the side of fries was a perfect accompaniment. The only slight let down was the bombe Alaska. The meringue wasn’t cooked, just torched to brown the exterior, so it was a little gluggy, pity as the rest of the meal and service was great.
Fantastically located in crossley lane. Food was delightful and more modern than what I was expecting. Potatoes were divine and crispy. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked medium rare. Apple pie had a great short crust. Service was extremely professional, ambiance had a more traditional feel but in a good way.
Booked this place a week ago. Come here a bit late but the staffs still greeted me nicely.
Food:
The pork belly was perfectly cooked, the meat was tender and the crackle was so crispy!the sauce was balancing the flavour of the dish create harmony in my mouth.
The spaghetti vongole was okay. A bit lack of seasoning, however the pasta was perfectly cooked and and the clam was rich of flavours.
Gnocchi with buffalo cheese and tomato sauce was amaziiing!the gnocchi was perfectly cooked, the buffalo cheese was fresh and create well contrast to overall dish.
The apple pie is a must try dessert in the house!!is so goood. The ingredients was hella bomb!i think they use milk cracker crumble instead of ordinary pie to make the outer skin . The inside,The apple pie was full of flavours, perfectly balance and not to sweet(and thats perfectly what we want right?). And the warm anglaise makes it blend well together, it explodes in your mouth.
The chocolate cake was okay.. but cant beat the apple pie of course. The chocolate perfectly tempered outside, with salted caramel, pistachio cream and chocolate sponge that melted together every bite you take.
The ambience and the place was romantic, airy and perfect for date. The staffs were very kind and friendly too.
Overall, good food and good place, the staffs was nice too. Will be back for sure!

We fancied a good Italian restaurant in Melbourne last night and decided to give Becco a try. As soon as we entered we knew this was going to be a good visit. The service was excellent and the waitstaff were extremely polite and courteous.
We ordered a calamari to share and while it was a tad oily the taste was delightful. I had a steak while my wife had the seafood pasta. The steak was quite plain (as you can see in the photo) but each bite was succulent and left me feeling like I was in cloud 9! My wife's feedback on the pasta: "I wish I could lick the sauce off the plate!" We then shared a panna cotta to conclude the night. Once again, made to perfection and couldn't fault anything. Perhaps larger portion sizes?
I would highly recommend Becco for a good Italian bite in the Melbourne CBD!
Dropped in for a quick plate of pasta...very good as were others’ dishes. Good wine recommendation.
Would come back though perhaps it’s lost a touch of its polish over the years?
We had a lovely experience at Becco, early on a Friday evening. The staff were attentive and the service was efficient. We ate three courses! We tried several of the evenings specials, and we weren't disappointed.
Decided to go Becco for Valentines Day dinner after hearing great things. First impressions, the decor is a little dated. Started with some beautiful and fresh buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, stuffed olives and the calamari. I calamari has been done time and time again, but the batter was so light and fluffy and the chilli was a great touch. Spaghetti Vongole for mains which was a nice a serve, again simple but fine well. Panna Cotta to finish which was a bit average but still pleasant - my partner had the warm apple crumble pie which was so delicious. All in all a great experience, with professional and efficient service.
😱Lizzie's first impression: This place is literally a hidden gem - they dont even have a massive neon sign like Gingerboy next door.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: The mains were delicious - we had the duck and the risotto. Both cooked to perfection. The duck had a very strong wine jus but it wasnt too overbearing that it took away the flavour of the duck. Risotto was cooked very well and had a very yummy flavour to it!
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I wish I got to order the desserts to try!
🎖Lizzie rates overall: A great place for a celebration or a fancy dinner - really recommend it!
Came here for a team dinner - hadn’t come for quite a number of years but still delicious. Whilst there are many restaurant choices around the area, Becco is always a solid performer
Went for pre-theatre meal but they did not appear to have a separate pre-theatre menu.
Octopus pasta was nice.
Most amazing duck we have ever had.
No complaints on any aspects. We had a large group booking for a corporate Christmas lunch in a private room with a dedicated and attentive waiter. The food was very fresh.
Enjoyed a pre theatre dinner here last night. The venue itself is sophisticated yet comfortable and the food was overall very nice. For entree I went for the beef carpaccio. The beef was incredibly finely sliced and melted in your mouth. The dish could have used a little more seasoning though. For main I ordered the barramundi with leeks and parsley. I couldn't fault this dish. The crispy skin was a highlight. We also shared the spinach and cauliflower gratin as sides. Both were very well done and complemented our meals. Then for dessert I chose the chocolate fondant with hazelnut crema. If you're a chocolate lover definitely try this dessert. The centre of the fondant was lovely and gooey and combined with the crema it tasted just like Nutella. Our table also ordered the dessert special (creme Catalan) which wasn't quite as successful though. The creme Catalan hadn't set for some reason and was just a pool of liquid once we cracked the shell. However, the staff were apologetic and immediately replaced the dessert with one that was properly set which was a nice gesture.
I frikkin love Becco, have loved it for over 15 years. Back in the day I used to go in for business lunch meetings and it always impressed everyone. Forward to present day, the space has grown and the menu has evolved. It hasn't lost the good old fashioned genuine Italian values it started with. I was there last week hosting an international visitor we were all impressed. Keep it up Becco ❤️
Fine dining Italian. Booked an early dinner session and had the place to ourselves. Started with stuffed zucchini flowers which were fantastic! There was a faint hint of lemon and they were some of the best I've ever had. The calamari was fresh and tasty and the quail didn't let the team down. Also, I have to say, Becco had some of the nicest bread I've had at a restaurant for a while. For mains I had the ox tail risotto which was creamy and a decent serving size. Others had the ravioli and veal saltimbocca and everybody was suitably happy. Dessert was rhubarb pie. Overall a very enjoyable dining experience.
This place is tucked away in one of the many side streets and alleys in the CBD. It was by luck that we noticed the place.
We arrived on spec not having any reservation. In addition we mentioned that we needed to be serviced relatively quickly as we had theatre tickets. This did not phase the staff and soon we were seated in a rather comfortable and attractive decor.
I chose the Spaghetti Vongole. a mixture of seafood and spaghetti. The meal was very tasty and certainly fresh, the one detracting feature was that the meal was only just warm rather then hot. The other main was Saltimbocca which was described as delicious.
Two glasses of very nice red finished off the meal.
Service very good
Certainly recommended but I got the impression that it could be rather noisy as it seems to cater for business types and those going to the theatre
Fab evening. Great service, very friendly. Food was yum and a great idea with the decante for the wine. Love how majority of wines were Victorian, supporting locals.
Here for friends birthday, nice and cosy, love the special occasion cheek, very tender, just little lack of depth flavour, but the purée on the dish taste amazing.
This was our first visit to Becco and it was almost flawless. Food was excellent as was the service. One minor issue was the staff having to squeeze by my chair to get to a table by the window which became mildly annoying by the end of the night, but we will definitely be back!
Fussed over
I love wait staff who take hospitality seriously - the kind that see it beneath their skill to use a note pad and pen and not above them to top up a glass of humble tap water. Ah bless our gorgeous Italian waiter who saved us from dehydration on one of Melbourne's scorchers! Bless his attentive service and attention to detail. Bless his blue eyes!
So the food... We had the duck, the pasta with pesto and a sardine salad, drinks and the panna cotta for dessert - simple perfection! Like the decor, the dishes are uncomplicated but that in itself is a statement.
Glad I finally made it to Becco. Hope to return.
Boyfriend surprised me with dinner at Becco after a busy day working on a Saturday. The Italian waiter was very attentive, but a bit too 'funny'. I am trying to eat less meat or just free range meat lately, which isn't easy. At Becco there were only a few dishes where they could guarantee free range meat. We had the grilled sardines and a octopus special as starter (I know, also not vegetarian..). Both were nice. The sardines were slightly spicy, but not too much. There was only one sardine per crostini and I think that should've been two because it didn't cover nearly half of the crostini and made the chilli sometimes overpower the flavour of the fish. The octopus starter looked great. It tasted nice, but it tasted more like a pasta sauce.
We then shared the tortellini with smoked eggplant, ricotta, leek, balsamic and caramelised apple. Delicious dish. The flavour is very much like leek which is quite different. The sweet apple gives a nice twist. The left-over sauce is nice to dip your bread in.
The we had lamb, which was one out of two meat dishes that were free range. The lamb was divine, super soft very delicious.
The dessert we took was a special as well and contained poached peach. It was a nice dessert, but the flavours weren't on point. The lemon sorbet that was on the plate didn't suit the other flavours.
All of that with a bottle of wine cost us about $200, which is not cheap but not super expensive either. Boyfriend said he would definitely go back, I am not sure.. but happy to come along again and see if I can change my opinion ;)
Booked this restaurant on a recommendation of a friend. Has a great atmosphere and the food is good but I wouldn't say great. Disappointed with Te service. When we and our guests arrived we were not offered a drink before dinner. Instead it seemed to be a priority that we order our meals. When desert was being ordered my partner wanted a muscat. The wine list was presented with no commentary. My partner couldn't find a muscat on the wine list in the meantime the waitress came along and took the wine list away without asking if we wanted anything. Very strange. Would come back and give it another go but expected better.
Great Italian Dining room w classic dishes and great service. Fantastic traditional pastas and drinks . . . Couldn't fault a thing at Becco - Veal Saltibocca a bit of a signature dish.

A hidden gem in the CBD for great authentic Italian food near Chinatown Melbourne. Staff were extremely attentive. Food were delicious and quintessentially Italian.
Had lunch here on business. The setting was excellent. Quaint and not over the top. The wine selection was extensive. Service was great. The calamari with dry and fresh chilli on rocket salad was the best I've ever had. The risotto for the main was nice and not a large serving. Wouldn't mind coming back here for dinner to try out the rest of the menu.
Enjoyed our first visit here with some very nice dishes, the jalapeno mayo oysters for entree and warm apple pie for dessert being the highlights. As for the mains, my wife's gnocchi pasta was simple yet great (and most importantly, not too heavy), while my veal schnitzel was not bad - maybe could have done with more salt and better crumbing, but improved when combined with the side salad. Service was great and attentive, though ambience was a little too boisterous for us (we were seated right in the middle), so perhaps would be great to get a side table/section next time. Recommended, especially with use of the Entertainment Book which provides great value here.
Highly reliable Melbourne classic. Nice space. Lovely food. Generally very good service. Not cheap, but justifiably so. Well recommended.
I've never been to this institution of a restaurant and when a friend suggested we catch up in the city, I thought of Becco. It's also in the Entertainment Book so we settled and met for an early dinner. Service was exemplary and I love being able to see into the spotless kitchen. Upselling was done in a gentle and classy way. I can see why they try - on a Friday night this place should be packed. They certainly had loads of staff. When we left at 7.45pm the restaurant was barely 2/3 full. I tried the vitello which while tasty was really quite tough. The normal knife struggled to cut through. The waiter mentioned it was due to the free range nature of the veal, but I don't know. For mains we both had the pork sausage risotto which was delicious. At $37 a portion, it would want to be. Nothing enticed us for dessert so we called it a night. For service and ambience I give it 5 stars. I am not too sure about the value for money ratio but overall we had a lovey night and would in all likelihood return for a special occasion.
Came here a while ago with family for a birthday. The service was incredibly good. The food came out extremely quick, the waiters were attentive and friendly. I had the gnocchi which was fairly decent. Although the price tag for some of these dishes is very expensive so it's condemned to be one of those special occasion type restaurants. Still, worth a look.
A Melbourne institution that has been given new life. Came here with some family visiting from Sydney and had a wonderful meal. The seafood was fresh and flavour filled. Desert was worth the discomfort of going home totally stuffed. Great wine list and the service was intuitive and balances. Thanks for a wonderful evening guys.
Melbourne icon. Has changed very little over the years, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you see it. Very high standard Italian food, but comes at a relatively high price point. Like many such restaurants the service can be a bit aloof and come across as judgemental.
Lovely dinner at Becco tonight. Atmosphere is cosy, lights nicely dimmed, noise level right, tables at appropriate distance apart. Prompt & pleasant service. Food was delicious. The slow cooked lamb was tender & falling apart, served with a delicious plank of crispy polenta & tasty baby carrots. The rocket, fennel & blood orange side was exceptional. Gelato was a superb & refreshing end to a wonderful meal. Highly recommend a visit to Becco.
A place I will definitely be visiting again. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. It's tucked away in a quiet alleyway where you can enjoy your meal without the hustle and bustle of the city. Perfect if you're planning on a romantic evening.
So, we decided to pop in again and Oh My Lord! We ordered the pumpkin ravioli and the pork sausage fettuccine with a porcini mushroom ragu. The flavour hits you straight away. The service was amazing. So I think I'm going to have to bump up my rating to a 5.
Four of us dined here recently. Professional and welcoming service. Very extensive menu that has something for everyone. Can't go past the flour dusted calamari to start with. The mains we had were all excellent. Duck ravioli was delicious - would have liked one more on the plate. An excellent minute steak and fresh, crunchy fish and chips - very generous serve. Extensive wine list with some good value choices. This place has been going strong since it opened, probably due to consistently good food and a great front of house team.
What more to say. Top 3 Italian cuisine in Melbourne city. Will be definitely be back. Extensive wine list, and exceptional service..........
Really good service, food was alright at best. Had the tiramisu and semifreddo for dessert which was both lovely.
Definitely recommend if you're looking for fine dining experience. Not for someone in need for a big feed.
what an institution and always perfect. Our family dinners are held here and they always do a great job. We will keep going here as long as they keep doing such great work
Bring it on
This place is amazing. Great food, great service, never been disappointed eating here. It's a little on the expensive sure but I weeks say that the quality is definitely worth it. Make sure your order the side of roasted potatoes with rosemary and garlic.
There is a real consistency with this place. The specials are always the way to go. I agree with previous reviews about the toilets and the little Italian waiter. Other than that, it's a great little restaurant.
The four of us managed to get a last minute booking at this close to institutional restaurant on a block that is as Italian as many squares in Rome. Boasting Bottega, several kinds of Grossi, and Pellegrini’s, this must be one of the best eating destinations over a couple hundred metres in Australia (did I mention Gingerboy?!) Becco holds its own. It is an intimate space with lots of nooks for small groups and couples. I like the undulations, though it must make it a dangerous place for floorstaff! I feel like it was not supposed to be a restaurant. A space for creativity down a laneway that eventually found its place with food and wine its meaning. I won’t focus in detail on the food. It w
A birthday dinner for two on 19 Nov 2014.
Apart from the high price we can not fault Becco, it has excellent Italian food and good wine.
Very good service also.
If you want to eat better Italian food for less money - you will need to fly to Italy (which we do as often as we can).
There are other great Italian restaurants in Melbourne, thankfully, but Becco can be counted among the best of them.
Recommended, if expensive, experience.
I was taken here for a surprise birthday present and couldn't have been happier. Good wine, good food, and fabulous desert. Thanks for contributing to my birthday becco :) thoroughly enjoyed myself
Lovely food. beautifully balanced dishes, perfectly seasoned, enjoyed everything. Service was as expected for the price.
My absolute favorite. Becco is without doubt my absolute favorite restaurant in Melbourne. Walking down Crossley St seeing the blue tiles exterior, always is a buzz, in knowing that a great night of food, wine and ambience awaits.
I love the terrazzo floor, the dimness of the lights and the open kitchen producing food that really blows all thoughts of words out of your mind except to say "Oh my goodness".
Yes it is not cheap, but it is beautiful and such a stalwart in the competitive Melbourne dining scene.
Food so delicious just beautiful . Service great as always .
Consistently good food & service. Consistently good food and service from a solid performer with a fairly Australian take on "Modern Italian" cuisine. My partner loves the crab pasta and I am quite partial to their vegetarian gnocchi and prawn seafood dishes. Becco is never outstandingly brilliant, but in all of the dozens of times that we have been there, it has always been very hard to fault, and that in itself is a highly commendable feat.
I possibly had the 3 least Italian dishes on the menu when I dined a couple of months ago. Natural oysters, Quail & Beef carpaccio. All lovely & fresh, the marinade on the quail was delicious. Service was brilliant, I'd go back.
Very fine Italian dining. Went there with work and really enjoyed the food. Special bonus for the lemon tart with the caramelised top!
One of the best restaurants l have been to. The service is excellent. I had the Agnolloti which was sensational. My partner had the oxtail..great. Desserts. .we had the rhubarb crumble with pistachio gelato and the panacotta. Both excellent. My only whinge would be that it's a bit noisy.
Still great after all these years... I recently moved to the city and rediscovered Becco - it was such a hang out for me in the 90s - love the building it's in and always had a great time there.
I didn't have high expectations for a place that had been there for so long, but I was pleasantly surprised when we went to eat in the bar last night. We usually eat at City Wine Shop a lot - great value/service etc - so as a comparison the bar menu was equal in price. The food was great - and service was really good/attentive. It was a shame the bar was pretty quiet with only another table there with us - but the main restaurant was really busy.
Will definitely be back...
Great food!! I loved the zucchini flowers and the beef carpaccio. Service was excellent. Only downside is the acoustics - it gets quite loud in the restaurant.
Yum+value for $$= Becco BAR. As soon as we saw the blue and red outdoor decor we wondered why we hadn't been back to Becco more recently! We enjoyed a pleasant drink outside and were persuaded to stay for lunch by the very attractive looking Bar Menu. It is a smaller, (and cheaper!) menu than the restaurant offers but the quality of the food was still outstanding. Melt-in-the-mouth calamari, stuffed green olives and prosciutto pizza to share. Then I had a delicious veal parmigiana that I was unwilling to share because I wanted every last mouthful! However, I probably should have traded for a taste of my friend's spaghettini, served with meatballs and a yummy Napoli sauce. With perfectly cooked fries on the side of course. Lovely casual atmosphere with smart table service.
Staff an issue, but otherwise good.... Becco has consistently had a staff attitudinal problem.
Having gone there maybe 5-6 times now, it is an issue that seems to always stand out. Dare I say it, some who work on the floor at Becco seem to think they are bigger and better than what they perhaps are. I wouldn't say they are rude, but the staff have generally been cold and unfriendly. It can come off as "I'll serve you, but you ain't as suave as me".
Putting that to the side, the location is excellent and the food is always impressive.
On one occasion, I requested a meal be changed to have an extra ingredient added. The result was fantastic and was something I really enjoyed. I appreciated the flexibility of the kitchen.
They can also make a mean mojito, depending on the person behind the bar.
A place definitely worth visiting, if you are prepared to excuse the service.
Nothing Changes. We been dining at Becco for years its an old favourite always great food and service
Lovely dinner. We came here for a pre 21st dinner for 12 and were on a tight time frame. We had the pre theatre set menu and it was delicious food, charming ambience and no issues with delays. I asked for the music to be turned down because we had a couple of people with hearing issues and the staff were obliging, which was greatly appreciated. The service was very professional but low key. I'd return.
Still amazing. Was nervous to return as years ago had the best birthday lunch of my life here! Well it's still up to scratch! Perfect food...just melt in your mouth Italian....had the pumpkin ravioli. Wow. Caprese salad - who would think you could make something so simple that I've had a million times before, so utterly PERFECT. Dessert...cannot wait to return for the panacotta which looked like a piece of art on the plate and tasted to die for. Service was brilliant, didn't push alcohol on us despite the fact we were not drinking much - and just let us cruise through our meal despite perhaps being one of the less "spendy" tables on a sat night. Truly classy establishment. Will return and recommend. Only negative - does get quite noisy on a sat night.
Utterly sensational.... Becco has somersaulted to be my favourite fine dining location in central Melbourne after a stellar performance for a special occasion lunch. *WARNING - detailed drooling review follows*.
Booked a week ahead for a weekday lunch for six - including three fussy eaters and near / teetotallers. From the moment we walked in the door, we were made to feel like guests: welcome, comfortable and unhurried. The excellent English waitress arranged initial drinks promptly, gave detailed explanations of the specials of the day (together with price, which I find is very rare) and answered many questions about a wide range of menu items with confidence and ease. Bread was plated discreetly and we happily dipped it into the fruity and peppery olive oil available on the table in the short time we waited for our orders.
Entree was multiple antipasto tasting plates - plump olive ascolane, deliciously creamy and crunchy arancini, finely sliced mild salami topped with smoked mozzarella, and cured salmon bruschetta, accompanied by rocket and shaved fennel. Finicky eaters sampled gingerly and then pounced decisively, munching away quietly and appreciatively.
Mains were equally impressive - the special of beef and mortadella agnolotti with salsa verde, ricotta, capsicum, endive and crispy pancetta was a hit. What could have been an overly complicated dish was instead a punchy pasta with fantastic flavours that worked very well. And there were six or seven large agnolotti in each serve, as is appropriate for a dish costing $35. Value-driven guests murmured approval.
The veal scallopini was textbook perfect, multiple moist mouthfuls of meat slathered in luscious white wine gravy with mushrooms and prosciutto. Tagliata porterhouse was cooked precisely as requested by one exacting guest (a talented Italian home cook of many years who would know), and devoured with alacrity. The pea and prawn risotto presented as a pretty dish of green and white, the prawns submerged to stay moist and surprise with the number. Again a generous serve and a fine example of a great dish that in lesser hands could have been disappointing. Sides of rosemary and garlic potatoes, and insalata caprese drizzled in balsamic vinegar, were inhaled. All plates were relieved of their contents by guests with only expressions of praise and delight.
For dessert, we shared the day's special, a chocolate and hazelnut bombe alaska with berries and butterscotch sauce ($60 shared between 6 - and worth every cent), together with a trio of gelati as a safer option for the more wary guests. The bombe was presented whole then plated professionally for us to splash or smother in sauce and savour. A firm yet springy cake base was packed with fabulous chocolate and hazelnut icecream, surrounded by lightly textured soft meringue flambeed just enough to colour but not to burn. Wary dessert guests polished off their plates silently, occasionally interrupting to pour over more of the liquid gold sauce. The three gelati scoops were presented simply with a twisted tuile biscuit dusted in icing sugar, on a lightly baked crumble. This allowed the wonderful flavours to stand out - palate cleansing lemon, anything-but-plain vanilla bean, and sweet strawberry = sweet surrender on a plate. A superb finish to an outstanding meal and experience - two hours of bliss.
All the while, service was discreet, efficient, attentive and considered. More bread was offered without needing to ask. Water glasses were refilled regularly - always good but particularly so when the non-alcoholic nature of some guests meant only one bottle of wine, a lovely prosecco, was ordered over the entire meal. This was accepted unquestioningly by staff, and made teetotaller guests feel at ease.
Total came to $425 before tip, and I found this to be heaps better value than my recent visit to Merchant at the other end of the city, even accounting for the difference in ordering (eg, more wine, less guests etc). If I had to find a fault, it would be that our table was a bit wobbly, which I'd hope would be fixed easily. Other than that, lunch was utterly sensational. Happy to go back at the drop of a hat. * Drooling review over*.
Very good. I visited Becco recently for a family dinner and was impressed. I ordered a scotch fillet steak, medium to well done, which was delicious. The steak almost dissolved in the mouth and was well complemented by fries and spinach. We were also served some tasty bread which blended in nicely with our mains. The only drawback with the food was that the steak was underdone just a little.
The service at Becco was excellent: friendly, prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The venue was a little too dimly lit but I thought that was understandably down to "mood lighting" for couples on dinner dates and young trendites, so no demerit points there as a result. The decor is spartan which seems to work well and gives the restaurant a clean and crisp feel.
I recall it was a nice setting/atmosphere however I remember my food was very salty and the bread was stale. Cheers!
Fantastic restaurant - but book because it is busy. Exceptional service - staff amazing as is the food. Confit Duck and chilli spinage a definate hit with us from Perth.
Went for a Friday afternoon 'business' lunch, great atmosphere, food was fantastic and the portion size was better then I expected. Would definately go back
Textbook Italian. Perfect gnocchi, melt in the mouth veal and great wine list. Noisy, but with good atmosphere.
Service was good as was the food. Would happily go back.
A classic Italian restaurant with spacious seating. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I ordered the veal saltimbocca and the veal was so tender and juicy. I would love to come back to try their other dishes for sure. Also wanted to just call out that their bread is impressively crusty and soft - something I don’t commonly share.
We always love our dining experiences at Becco. The Italian food is delicious, the wine list expansive and Simon and his staff always fabulous. Thank you for looking after us so well, once again.
Food was amazing, service friendly, attentive staff had good knowledge of menus and wines. Highly recommend
Delicious food and very efficient service.
We had the roast chicken, potatoes, spinach and steak, all of which were superbly cooked.
Generous portions so we were very satisfied. Excellent choice of wines.
This is an expensive restaurant so be mindful of that. We will return, occasionally.
Great food, well done, good service, not cheap. ☺, 2 sessions on Saturday night. If more than about 7 in a group, no a la carte option, must take $90 per person menu, with choice of 4 dishes each for entrée, mains, and dessert . $90 option requires $30 non refundable deposit per person.
Went for birthday dinner, party if three. Our waitress was a lovely French lass Natuche?? on her last day at the restaurant and couldn't have been more attentive without being intrusive and provided a lovely dining experience for us all. The drinks menu was promptly presented, orders depatched quickly and drinks arrived promptly whilst we perused the extensive food choices on offer from the colourful menu. Natuche happily answered questions about the menu choice before orders were taken. Bread was promptly delivered, drinks arrived soon after, water was topped up as we munched on the divine bread and oil.
Entrees consisted of Beetroot cured Salmon with Creme Fraiche, Oysters battered with Chili Aioli and Buffalo Mozzarella with Prosciutto.
Every one of those entrees were amazinly tasty, nicely presented and devoured lovingly.
Our mains consisted of the Roast Chicken, which was melt in your mouth and succulent, the Duck came with lovely crispy skin, nicely petite roasted and caramelised carrots with the most amazing Muscatel & Grappa Jus that I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Duck was so tender and served pink, how it should be to preserve the moisture and texture of the meat. All our meals were so delishious and filling, we were thankful that we didn't order "sides" preferring to Savior!
We were nearly going to forgo the deserts however we changed our mind as Tiramisu, Rhubarb & Strawberry Crumble (the special) along with and old favourite Chocolate Mouse was selected from the choices. The Rhubarb & Strawberry Crumble was lovely, a tiny bit overpowered with cinnamon but nonetheless scrumptious and delight to the senses as the aroma delighted the palatte on consuming. The Tiramisu was considered equal to the best that have been offered at some more expensive Melbourne restaurants and The Chocolate Mouse was rich and creamy.
Becco has gained quite a reputation which we felt was well deserved, The atmosphere was just relaxing, the staff attentive and friendly and the divine menu choices we had were was such a delightful experiece and we will certainly revisit again.
