We came across this delightful restaurant by chance when walking down one of the many lanes found in Melbourne. Italian themed, the menu should satisfy most diners and we went for a veal dish and the fish ( King Whiting ) and chips and they were both outstanding.
Fresh produce, generous servings and great tasting food were very much appreciated, and the desserts were even better. Outstanding !!
The wine list was quite extensive although from a price perspective, they were at the higher end but full of quality.
Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience and this restaurant is highly recommended.
Nice pasta, elegant surrounds. A go to Italian for me.
It’s a good restaurant, it’s been there forever, etc. The food was good but not great. The crumbed sardines were more crumb than sardine and putting mayonnaise on the side in lieu of flavour is getting old. The steak was excellent, as were the deserts. Side dishes were smallish in size and moderately-priced. Excellent wine list. Service was good and quick and the staff were attentive and polite.
Was there last weekend and like our last visit in September last year we were not disappointed. We came all the way from Darwin to Melbourne for my daughters birthday.
Service was extremely pleasant very helpful and great knowledge of wine. Meal was fantastic. The Hanger Steak just melts in your mouth.Great experience will be back again when we are in Melbourne.
Melbourne has many Italian restaurants but few stand the test of time. Becco has been able to blend elements of fine dining with an edge of casual. The staff were attentive, the wine list extensive and the menu had many of the classic Italian dishes but with a modern take. The food tasted great and the portions were generous relative to what you’d expect for this type of restaurant. We dined here mid week and I was able to get a last minute reservation for 7pm.
Great service, great food. Portions slightly on the smallish side, but excellent cooking. I ordered from the daily specials; Spaghettini with scallops and breadcrumbs, and Braised lamb shanks with sides of thin cut chips and Italian coleslaw. Waitering staff are many and are professional, very prompt and attentive. Great atmosphere and not too noisy, once you can find the right door to enter! Prices make it a special occasion or expense account venue
Had a really delightful meal here on Saturday night. The oysters were fresh and tasty, the linguini special with prawns was delicious. My snapper fillet was well cooked and the side of fries was a perfect accompaniment. The only slight let down was the bombe Alaska. The meringue wasn’t cooked, just torched to brown the exterior, so it was a little gluggy, pity as the rest of the meal and service was great.
Fantastically located in crossley lane. Food was delightful and more modern than what I was expecting. Potatoes were divine and crispy. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked medium rare. Apple pie had a great short crust. Service was extremely professional, ambiance had a more traditional feel but in a good way.
Booked this place a week ago. Come here a bit late but the staffs still greeted me nicely.
Food:
The pork belly was perfectly cooked, the meat was tender and the crackle was so crispy!the sauce was balancing the flavour of the dish create harmony in my mouth.
The spaghetti vongole was okay. A bit lack of seasoning, however the pasta was perfectly cooked and and the clam was rich of flavours.
Gnocchi with buffalo cheese and tomato sauce was amaziiing!the gnocchi was perfectly cooked, the buffalo cheese was fresh and create well contrast to overall dish.
The apple pie is a must try dessert in the house!!is so goood. The ingredients was hella bomb!i think they use milk cracker crumble instead of ordinary pie to make the outer skin . The inside,The apple pie was full of flavours, perfectly balance and not to sweet(and thats perfectly what we want right?). And the warm anglaise makes it blend well together, it explodes in your mouth.
The chocolate cake was okay.. but cant beat the apple pie of course. The chocolate perfectly tempered outside, with salted caramel, pistachio cream and chocolate sponge that melted together every bite you take.
The ambience and the place was romantic, airy and perfect for date. The staffs were very kind and friendly too.
Overall, good food and good place, the staffs was nice too. Will be back for sure!

We fancied a good Italian restaurant in Melbourne last night and decided to give Becco a try. As soon as we entered we knew this was going to be a good visit. The service was excellent and the waitstaff were extremely polite and courteous.
We ordered a calamari to share and while it was a tad oily the taste was delightful. I had a steak while my wife had the seafood pasta. The steak was quite plain (as you can see in the photo) but each bite was succulent and left me feeling like I was in cloud 9! My wife's feedback on the pasta: "I wish I could lick the sauce off the plate!" We then shared a panna cotta to conclude the night. Once again, made to perfection and couldn't fault anything. Perhaps larger portion sizes?
I would highly recommend Becco for a good Italian bite in the Melbourne CBD!
A classic Italian restaurant with spacious seating. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I ordered the veal saltimbocca and the veal was so tender and juicy. I would love to come back to try their other dishes for sure. Also wanted to just call out that their bread is impressively crusty and soft - something I don’t commonly share.
We always love our dining experiences at Becco. The Italian food is delicious, the wine list expansive and Simon and his staff always fabulous. Thank you for looking after us so well, once again.
Food was amazing, service friendly, attentive staff had good knowledge of menus and wines. Highly recommend
Delicious food and very efficient service.
We had the roast chicken, potatoes, spinach and steak, all of which were superbly cooked.
Generous portions so we were very satisfied. Excellent choice of wines.
This is an expensive restaurant so be mindful of that. We will return, occasionally.
Great food, well done, good service, not cheap. ☺, 2 sessions on Saturday night. If more than about 7 in a group, no a la carte option, must take $90 per person menu, with choice of 4 dishes each for entrée, mains, and dessert . $90 option requires $30 non refundable deposit per person.
Went for birthday dinner, party if three. Our waitress was a lovely French lass Natuche?? on her last day at the restaurant and couldn't have been more attentive without being intrusive and provided a lovely dining experience for us all. The drinks menu was promptly presented, orders depatched quickly and drinks arrived promptly whilst we perused the extensive food choices on offer from the colourful menu. Natuche happily answered questions about the menu choice before orders were taken. Bread was promptly delivered, drinks arrived soon after, water was topped up as we munched on the divine bread and oil.
Entrees consisted of Beetroot cured Salmon with Creme Fraiche, Oysters battered with Chili Aioli and Buffalo Mozzarella with Prosciutto.
Every one of those entrees were amazinly tasty, nicely presented and devoured lovingly.
Our mains consisted of the Roast Chicken, which was melt in your mouth and succulent, the Duck came with lovely crispy skin, nicely petite roasted and caramelised carrots with the most amazing Muscatel & Grappa Jus that I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Duck was so tender and served pink, how it should be to preserve the moisture and texture of the meat. All our meals were so delishious and filling, we were thankful that we didn't order "sides" preferring to Savior!
We were nearly going to forgo the deserts however we changed our mind as Tiramisu, Rhubarb & Strawberry Crumble (the special) along with and old favourite Chocolate Mouse was selected from the choices. The Rhubarb & Strawberry Crumble was lovely, a tiny bit overpowered with cinnamon but nonetheless scrumptious and delight to the senses as the aroma delighted the palatte on consuming. The Tiramisu was considered equal to the best that have been offered at some more expensive Melbourne restaurants and The Chocolate Mouse was rich and creamy.
Becco has gained quite a reputation which we felt was well deserved, The atmosphere was just relaxing, the staff attentive and friendly and the divine menu choices we had were was such a delightful experiece and we will certainly revisit again.
