We enjoyed a most delicious 5 course dinner for 8 business associates from overseas. The food was exceptional and the wine list was outstanding. We are from the wine and food industry and were extremely impressed with the extremely professional standard of service. Cannot rate the restaurant high enough. Thank you.
Tried the prawn dumpling for entree, Murray Cod for main and Mango sorbet for dessert.
Entree was so delicious with a touch of spicy from the coconut sauce.
Beautiful place. Staff are friendly and quiet attentive.
3 course meal for $120 for lunch which is good value for business lunch.
Will definitely go back to try other things.
@ezardmelbourne Free range chicken, spiced dumpling, heirloom zucchini, green olive and pistachio. Flavours balanced perfectly with textures of all sorts. The menu is more concise and focused, the flavours are refined and the presentation is pretty. The service is polished and genuinely hospitable.
We decided on the a la cart menu and ordered the following dishes:
• Prawn dumplings
• Kingfish
• Pork Belly
• Milk Yard Farm Chicken
• Chinese style Roast duck
• Potatoes on the side
• Dessert tasting platter
The kingfish was our favourite and the Chinese roast duck was almost just as good. Ezard was kind enough to halve our third starter, the pork belly, and place them on separate plates - which is why it may seem tiny in the photo. I personally wouldn’t order the dumplings again, as there wasn’t much to it - just a ‘clean’ stock (maybe tomato based soup?) with prawn dumplings - nothing too exciting. Nonetheless I really enjoyed my evening at Ezard, I would definitely come back.
This was such a beautiful experience and a perfect place to celebrate with your significant other. Every dish was full of flavour and well thought out and the service was fantastic from start to finish. We wanted to try a few dishes so shared 2 starters, 2 mains and the dessert platter, and the kitchen were lovely enough to split each one and serve them individually, it was the little touches that made all the difference! Amazing experience!
Perfect for special occassion, staff are all professional and friendly.
Love the cocktails so refreshing and gorgeous presentation. All the dishes are special in its own way, the wagyu was our favourite, so juicy and tender. I love how the staff introduced the dish to us and pour the sauce/drizzle on top, makes every dish feel like a piece of art.
The only suggestion is we hope they have more dessert options and gets more creative with the dessert. Everything else was perfect. Thanks Ezard for making my birthday night special.
Service - Very friendly & comfortable
Wine - lack for wine option, tried Riesling (traditional taste, gasoline aroma, citrus fruity) and Chardonnay (Over-Oaked)
Food - above average, many Japanese style dishes.
Desert - not very special and the presentation can be more elegant.
Fantastic service & food. Everything we ate was beautifully presented and delicious, do yourself a favour and book in to experience it yourself Highly recommend!
Great service and fine dine experience. Each dish was charimatic and delicate. Would have loved more quantity to the dishes but it's about the finer bites that make this experience unique.
EZARD has been serving Teage Ezard’s acclaimed ‘Australian freestyle’ cuisine for seventeen years in a sleek subterranean dining room in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. Guests are invited to indulge in a variety of ways: from a weekday express lunch or pre-theatre dinner, to an eight course tasting menu replete with complementary wines to match. Quality seasonal produce is of the utmost importance; we foster long-standing relationships with our suppliers to ensure access to the very best of Australian ingredients. The menu continually evolves to take advantage of each ingredient at the height of its flavour, colour, appearance and quality.
Nice atmosphere. Really good for romantic dates with the couches down the end. The food and staff are amazing. We even got a small pot of special salt to take home.
The 7 course tasting meal was just the right amount of food and both the duck and the steak options were extraordinary.
5 stars for the price vs performance. food was great with a fusion toward Asian flavors. utensils should be upgraded and speed of service slowed down a notch. 1/5 bottle of our wine was left unserved as we were rushed into deserts.
I had a lovely experience dining here. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, and the overall experience is very high-end.
I had the 5-course vegan tasting menu ($95) which I highly recommend. It’s also less expensive than the meat option which is a bonus. All of the dishes were delicious & presently beautifully, with interesting flavours and textures(the lighting is very dim so pictures don’t do it justice).
These were the dishes:
1. Black radish, fermented red chilli, avocado, qukes, puffed rice, yuzu
1.5. Bread with oil & nori for dipping
2. Heritage tomatoes, black plum, toasted rye, hijiki, cabernet vinegar, shiso
3. Tempura tofu, aged hon mirin dressing, chilli sambal, sweetcorn, Chinese broccoli
4. House made rice noodle, chick pea miso, shiitake mushroom xo, pickled turnip (really nice)
4.5. Pre-dessert cleanser - pomegranate sorbet (I think)
5. Ruby peach sorbet, pina colada, pink peppercorn, raspberry, native plum
The highlight for me was actually the dessert & the pre-dessert palette cleanser. House-made rice noodle dish was also a winner.
My suggestion:
Have a list of vegan-friendly alcoholic drinks to accompany the vegan menu. There are some non-alcoholic drinks but it would have been nice to have other options.
We had a nice degustation dinner at Ezard for our anniversary. Loved everything about this small cosy restaurant. I tried the vegetarian option while my husband tried the non-Veg option. The veg options were really good. The dessert tasting plate were top notch ..yumm!!!
And the flavoured butter and bread served in between....wooohooo goodness gracious :)
We came here for my wife's birthday and it was amazing. The team here at Ezard have held their two hats for 20 consecutive years and they have demonstrated that it has been no accident. The restaurant itself isn't large which when coupled with their popularity makes it apparently why it was a little hard to get a booking. The ambience itself was low light and moody, perfect for a long romantic dinner and the staff, while a little flustered and rushed at first (they forgot to give us bread and our water glasses stayed empty for quite sometime. Staff were also a bit rushed, giving us a very abridged spiel about what's on the plate and quickly disappearing) they kicked into gear as the full restaurant began to wind down.
The food itself was excellent, it became very apparent to us that the Ezard philosophy is to balance bold flavours (the head chef Jarrod explained he always works with sweet, sour, spicy, salty) which explains why most of the dishes had a bit of a kick at the end. Everything was beautifully presented and when paired with the expertly crafted non-alcoholic beverage pairing (developed by their world class bar staff) everything fell perfectly into place.
We left extremely satisfied and full. We would definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone in Melbourne who enjoy fine food.
Top level 8 course degustation. Many places will charge you more for less. Added the wine pairing as well. A couple of misses, but most complimented the dish perfectly. The wagyu beef was the best steak I ever had. Service was top notch.
It’s been years since we’ve eaten here but the food and service is as good as we remember it to be. The degustation while pricey is actually very good value when compared with other degustation offerings in Melbourne & surrounds given the variety of food and flavours on offer.
