This Argentinian restaurant is a hidden gem in a small laneway in Melbourne, the decor, furniture, interior design, the open kitchen, even the front entrance impressed us.
Full points to the wait staff for service, a very extensive wine list and ample authentic menu.
Our waitress was Argentinian, we sat by the wall of wine bottles, the restaurant was full and had to raise our voices a little to be heard across the table but I think that’s a good thing.
All the dishes are for sharing, the cured meat plate, the curitzo, lamb ribs, and sirloin strips to name a few...
We ate and drank well and left feeling quite satisfied, every dish was a winner and was great value for money.
My husband and I had dinner on April 25th (Anzac Day) at San Telmo. We had no reservations and the place was full. We decided to wait and go for a drink on the rooftop bar opposite San Telmo. Later on there was a table available at San Telmo and once we sat at our table, we were greeted by a warm/nice/friendly waiter called Raphael. He explained to us the menu and gave us some advice. The food was excellent and the timing was perfect. We ordered many dishes and each one was so tasty and different.
The staff was professional and friendly.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
I wish that there was a San Telmo in Sydney!
We love the food scene in Melbourne.
I feel like writing one of those reviews that are so positive that people wouldn’t take it seriously. But I honestly can’t recommend this place highly enough.
Best meal I’ve had in at least 2 years and I eat at restaurants quite often.
I don’t think there’s anything on the menu that I wouldn’t eat.
The meats are phenomenal.
Essentially they could charge twice what they do and I’d still come back.
Bravo.
The very best food is served here with the very best service from the staff. We will definitely go again and also highly recommend it to our friends and relatives.
We were lucky enough to have been recommended San Telmo. It's a hidden gem! We loved every meal we ordered. It was so hard to choose my favourite but I could not get enough of the empanadas!!

Brilliant food, had the Ojo De Bife, best steak I've ever had. Try the burnt carrots, they're delightful, perfect to go on the side of the steak. Also made a special request when I made my booking to serve a chocolate tart with a candle on it for my boyfriend's birthday and they did exactly that! The chocolate tart was delicious and great to know they're very aware of your special requests.
Service was top notch! Shoutout to Flint for being so accommodating.
..Absolutely love this place! Great meat, wine, empanadas, quilmes, flan con dulce de leche, music ... best place in Melbourne
Wow! Just wow.. really delicious food! A bit pricey, but it was worth it! Would surely be coming back and referring the place to my friends
Loved our experience here. Had the empanadas for entree which were delicious. I can recommend the pork with crackling - best I have ever had!!!
A very nice place to visit to eat the tasty potatoes, grilled sardines with a very tasty sauce, the steak was first class. One of the best in Melbourne
Fantastic restaurant! Beautiful food and exceptional service. Would recommend to everyone.
Have eaten here a couple of times, amazing food, excellent service, great atmosphere & the restaurant is decorated beautifully, love the cowhides hanging on the walls & all the other nic nacks around
First date night dining with the bf post lockdown. We pre paid the $110 set menu which came with empanadas, fried broccoli, chorizo, short ribs, and what was originally supposed to be O’Connor’s rib eye we got an upgrade to wagyu rib eye as chef slightly over cooked our meat and wasn’t happy to serve it (impeccable service by the chef 🤩) + dessert which was dulce de leche and ginger tart.
Everything was nice and flavourful. Empanadas, fried broccoli, wagyu and dessert were the highlights. If we didn’t receive the waygu, rating would be more 3.5 than a 4 as overall, food did seem average. Nevertheless, wagyu was extremely soft and you leave feeling full and satisfied.
Staff was attentive and atmosphere is perfect for date night.
Food: 4/5
Service: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4.5/5
Came here for my birthday (feb) and it was soooo good! From the starters to the main! Now I get the hype about this place. They know their meats!! Will definitely be back when restrictions ease!
My friends and I went to San Telmo as a last meal before covid. It still counts as one of the best decisions in my life!!
Ordered:
🌮 Ceviche: cobia, roasted pepper dressing, radish, coriander ($22.00)
🐷 mejilla de cerdo: braised Berkshire pork jowl with crackling ($20.00)
🌭 morcilla: spiced black sausage ($14.00)
🧀 provoleta: fried provolone cheese, dried oregano, dried chilli, pepper and lemon ($16.00)
🥔 Papas: yellow potatoes, salsa provenzal and fried capers ($16.00)
🥩 Cuadril: 300g oconnor's premium pastures fed rump cap ($28.00)
Review:
I loved the detail they brought into the food when we ordered. They automatically separated the list of food into sections and everything was delicious. Flavorful, punchy, and we finished everything so well. The Argentinian flavours were so different to what I was used to.
The service was amazing. Every time we finished a "course", the plate was changed so we could start a fresh. This level of consideration was unreal and a sight to behold.
Definitely coming back to San Telmo when there's a occasion!!
Friend picked this place and we went on a Sunday night. Booked at 6.15 and it was a full restaurant, must be in for a treat! Everything we ordered was super yummy! Loved the beef tartare and the fried broccoli the most. And of course the aged beed rid eye, so juicy and so much flavour! Service was friendly and attentive. Didnt have any room for dessert, have to come back!
My partner and I had an amazing experience here at San Telmo. We ordered the Ceviche, Tartar, Calamar, Papas and Ojo de bife. The ceviche was okay but was not our favourite, everything else that we ordered was delicious! Our waiter Lewis was awesome. He was very attentive, had great customer service skills and made us feel comfortable throughout the night. We hope our message can be passed onto him as we greatly appreciated his service and friendliness. Overall the food and service was awesome and we’ll definitely be back here again! Thanks guys
First time at San Telmo but won’t be the last and must say that it was a super All round dining experience of Argentinian theme.
Food was delightful without being overpriced.
Staff were courteous & informing by explaining the different cooking techniques & ingredients for different dishes & also an approximate time between courses.
Deserts were scrumptious & overall it was a delightful night.
Delicious from the first to the last dish. Great wine list. Definitely visiting again soon!
Excellent steak, excellent dessert.
We went to San Telmo on a Sunday evening and it was a full-house and bustling. The atmosphere was great - it wasn’t too dark yet the lighting was warm and was upbeat music in the background.
We were given menus immediately upon seating and our waiter gave us some lovely suggestions for wine and quantity of food to order.
We ordered the snapper cerviche and tartar to start. The cerviche was fresh and peppered with sunflower seeds for texture and nuttiness. The tartar was meaty and creamy and went perfectly with the soft toasted potato bread.
We also ordered the grilled chorizo sausage and the black sausage. They were smokey, tender and bursty and the flavours were savoury and just amazing.
We shared the 500g dry aged rib eye for main with a side of heirloom tomatoes and pistachio pesto. The combination of sweet, fruity, refreshing and umami tomatoes and basil in the pesto is timeless and genius. This salad was so simple yet so delicious. The rib eye was cooked to perfection, smokey from the grill and fatty. It was beautiful.
We were full so we didn’t have dessert but we will leave some space for it the next time we go back!
Had the ceviche, calamar, solomillo and ojo de bife.
Ceviche was alright. Fresh and tangy but nothing special. Should choose something else instead.
Calamar was fantastic. Had a very nice taste.
Solomillo was tender, flavoursome and juicy. So was the ojo de bife. Paired well with the chimchurri.
Staff was good as well.
😱Lizzie’s first impression: I’ve been here a few times and it’s always very consistent – I love the darker ambience which gives off a more sophisticated and formal vibe.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: The meats here are so fresh and you MUST order the empanadas. They are award winning! Such great flavours and are so crispy. The red wines here are also very well selected. The flan was also AMAZING – which is like a crème brulee.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I think I’ll have to come back for more to order more of the other dishes.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: loved this place so much and I will definitely be coming back over and over again.
First time visiting San Telmo with a group of 8. We ordered the El Banquete ($90pp) for a 10 course meal. The team were extremely accommodating to my friends who have dietary requirements.
The food came out in a very timely manner. There was so much food we ended up rolling out of the restaurant.
Highlight would definitely be the ceviche, provoleta, O'Connor's dry aged rib eye, and the flan. Everything was packed with flavour and the share plates were well portioned. I almost always prefer ordering a la carte over banquet, but this was definitely worth your money!
Came in on a Saturday night and even though it was crazy busy, food still came out quickly, staff were friendly, and everything was delicious. Ojo De Bife was the standout
Best Argentinian chargrilled steak house in Melbourne, highly recommend premium dry-aged Ribeye and roasted sweet potatoes. Great atmosphere for dating and talking with friends.
We visited San Telmo and my mind was blown by the fact that I’ve never been before, it certainly delivered to expectations and it’s sky high reputation. An Argentinian restaurant and Melbourne institution renowned for its grilled meats served sharing style.
We started with the beef empanadas and then moved into a 500g Solomillo and 300g inside skirt served with the tastiest and cutest little potatoes covered in a green salsa. The meat was succulent and exceptionally delicious. The table shared a bottle of Malbec but I chose the Meringada cocktail which was described as a liquid pavlova, yum!
We finished the evening with the flan de dulce and alafojores. These are very sweet desserts so I would recommend sharing. Unfortunately they are incredibly busy so not only is booking required they will also restrict you to a two hour dining window (we dined at 5.45 just to secure a table!) definitely worth it though
Best Steakhouse in Melbourne that I've been to yet! Love the ambience, it's quite a classy and romantic setting - good for date night. Service is very professional and the food comes out in good timing.
We ordered the Empanada's which were super tasty and a great start to the meal. We also couldn't resist trying the chorizo which didn't disappoint. I had the eye fillet which was the most melt in your mouth steak I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection and worth every dollar.
We were too full for dessert unfortunately but I can't wait to see what else San Telmo has to offer next time.

Although, the food is quite pricey, we love all the dishes that we had. The ribeye steak is definitely our highlight of thr meal.
Always a great option for date night. You can tell there’s a lot of care put towards the food and drinks menu. The world class service creates an unforgettable experience.
Well presented food. Beautiful atmosphere. There were four of us and we ordered 3 appetizers, 2 sides, and 2 steaks.
Appetizers and sides are beautiful.
The meat, Entrana, was almost raw. The staff didn’t ask how you want it cooked or didn’t mention that they serve rare steak. It’s very chewy. A bit disappointed with this dish.
Solomillo was perfectly cooked and well seasoned.
Overall it was good experience trying Argentinian food.
🍮 caramel flan salted peanut praline

📝: Inspired by a love of Argentine food, wine, vivacious lifestyle and rich culture, San Telmo brims with antique, bohemian, rustic style mood.
❤️: The menu revolves around parrilla, a type of grill favored in many South American countries.
San Telmo is the destination for meat lovers. There’s no way not to order steak from the Argentinian grill. Smaller plates like empanadas and Papas cheesy potatoes are also great compliments to the meal.
The desserts are not to be missed. Loved the Lemon Sorbet and prosecco, as well as the Flan of Dulce de leche crème caramel with salted peanut praline.

Came here last night to have a memorable good steak dinner on our last night in Melbourne. Hands down we had pur wish granted and this was probably the best meal we had pn our trip (and trust me we ate a lot of good food) the steak was droolworthy and the potato side was delicious. A special shout out to Ashley who served us. She was so sweet and bubbly, and for sure the night was amazing because of her wonderful hospitality.
This will definitely be a bucketlist when we travel to Melbourne.
Came here a family dinner after hearing about all the good reviews. Arrived 15 mins early and we were sat down at the table near the kitchen so we could see all the actions. We order the following dishes
Entree: Chapa, Brocoli, Calamar and Chorizo - tasty especially the cheesy brocoli, loved it and the cuttlefish with almond hummus was a good match. The Chorizo was what you would expect. We have also ordered Tira de asado - short ribs which was very tasty but wished there were a few more pieces.
Main: Entrana - the hanger steak was well seasoned and cooked just right, perfect! Bife de lomo - the eye fillet was not bad and Ojo de bife - the aged rib eye was very tasty and cooked perfectly.
The sides we ordered the Lechuga salad and Zanahorias - burnt carrots with hazelnut, thyme and garlic goats curd, delicious!
For desserts, we tried Alfajor - the shortbread cookie was very nice. Flan and Tarta de chocolate were both very tasty as well.
Overall, we were very happy with the food. However, the waitress looked like she did not want to be there even though she was very professional. That was our impression. Maybe she was just busy concentrating on her duties? Nevermind, we shall come back at another time to try again!
We arrived without a booking, and were quickly accommodated at the bar. It was great watching the kitchen go about their work in a calm manner, and to see how clean everything was! Staff were friendly and helpful, drinks were great. The pork jowl main was amazing but the beef short ribs were a little on the tough side. Would love to come back and try a few more items off the menu.
Nice atmosphere, the food was great, we love the steak and the beef tartare there, recommend for sharing, the wine menu was quite impressive. However the see that nice was a bit poor, and slow with our order. But in general we enjoyed it.
Absolutely fantastic, the steak was cooked to perfection, service was attentive to detail;
My favourite was the flan- not usually a fan of these sorts of deserts normally but it is amazing!
Also the meat/cheese platter was amazing, definitely worht a try along with the house made foccaccia
Absolutely love their steak, perfect place for meat lovers, the wine selection was lovely, the service could be improved however.
First class dining experience
Great food, tasty, excellent meat cuts, innovative vegetables, great service
We will definitely come back to this restaurant by again to try some other dishes
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
We got the set menu for $70 per person that came with delicious homemade sausages for entree. the bread was average. The steak was a large portion so some parts were a little too rare but overall was well seasoned. The fish came in a citrus sauce and was amazing! Also came with a cookie to top it off
We loved 😍
If you love your steak but also like to order a bit of variety, this is the place to go. We ordered the kingfish ceviche and bread and dip and a few meats to share.
We disliked 😖
Remember to book before coming as it gets pretty busy!
First time at San Telmo, a slightly more casual atmosphere to their sister restaurant Palermo.
Probably better for a friendly catch up than a date seeing as it can get a bit loud at times.
Absolutely loved the tartare, great flavour and nice and crisp chips.
The roasted carrots were were a delight, so much flavour from the hazelnut and the goats cheese!
Only had room for one dessert :( but an obvious choice was the flan, you can't go wrong with dulce de luche with a salty praline mmm
Argentine steakhouse punches in! We booked the restaurant in advance and sent a text message to confirm. After arriving on time, the waiter showed us to the table warmly. Grilled cauliflower, baked potato and 500g naked eye steak are all delicious! The steak was also very well dipped, and we ended up with creme brulee and chocolate tart, which was very smooth and tender, and the chocolate was a little bit sweet.
Great Argentinian food - cerviche, flatbread with eggplant, cuttlefish and beef short rib are impeccable. Rib eye was a little tough and rare but still well seasoned. Potatoes and sides very good. Dessert (peanut caramel praline) was brilliant also - not too sweet and fluffy, melt in your mouth stuff. Food quantities were unlike anything I have seen before - our group of 7 had to pass on at least 1/2kg rib eye - a kick to the guts! Especially considering they have a no take away policy. This was the 110/pp banquet and so perhaps the 90 or 70 meal would have been sufficient. Service was adequate. Recommend!
Came here for a birthday dinner and was absolutely stunned by the service, food and atmosphere. Dry aged steak was cooked to perfection, melts in the mouth and bursting with flavours. Although the steak was possibly one of the best steaks I’ve had in my life, the side dishes definitely had room to shine on their own. Grilled cuttlefish was tender and zesty, flatbreads were toasty and warm, and the Argentinian dulce de Leche cookie was an absolute delight! Will definitely be back soon :)
Awesome steak house, great service.
This place has a great wine selection as well.
The meat is cooked perfectly to our liking, the only weird thing was that the steak came all sliced up.
The polenta sticks are the bomb
Definitely agree that they have nice espresso martini! The steak is decent but what stole my heart more is their mushroom empanada 💘 Blew my mind so good even the cauliflower side dish is truly nice!
Went to San Telmo with my friend. Overall the food was amazing, we ordered the crepes for dessert afterwards and it was perfect; just the right amount of sweet. The food is definitely worth the price
Really enjoyed the feel and food of this Melbourne Argentinian restaurant. The place was packed and buzzing on a Friday night and our group were seated at a comfy booth table. To start we shared the flatbread with eggplant dip, the Rudderfish Ceviche (very nice), fried provolone cheese (I would literally come back to this restaurant just for this dish, it was absolutely divine), Papas (Peruvian potatoes - very good), Burnt carrots (good), Roasted cauliflower (delicious), and of course the main event which was the 1.1kg rib eye steak (if you’re a big meat fan you will love it here). The house-made chimichurri was exceptionally delicious, and was great with the meat. For dessert we shared the Flan (delicious), the Milhojas (least favourite) and the Chocolate tart (yum). Service was excellent with our waitress guiding us through the menu & checking on us regularly throughout the night. Definitely worth a visit.
This place was so busy on a Wednesday night. Just before our second part of Harry Potter theatre shows my colleagues and I decided to pop in here for a super quick meal before we headed back.
With only an hour to spare the staff here were fantastic and very accommodating. We opted for small share plates given our limited time. We started with the flat bread, as well as sweet potato. Unfortunately I felt the polenta chips were over fried and quite dry. But the calamari was so tender and is the best I have had in a while and along with the empanadas it was full of flavour and just yum. Along with a coupleof glasses of wine we were very satisfied.
Staff were great and we had our meals in the allotted time. Will be back for those protein mains next time when we have more time.
Great service, amazing wine list, and perfectly cooked steaks accompanied by delicious sides. Been to a few Argentinian restaurants now and this one is right up there. Will return.
Great steak place with a rather unusual decor full of leather. Place is busy even on weekdays dinner. Great food, lovely atmosphere, delicious wine pairing and overall I will be back for sure
Came here for birthday celebration after hearing great reviews from my friends. Love the different cut of steak offered. This place does a really good hanger steak too. Recommended for meat lovers!
Following the Argentine ethos that eating, drinking and most importantly life are there to be enjoyed with friends, family and lovers. From midday to late at night we offer a shared menu bringing people together just like a family Asado in Argentina. Following the Argentine ethos that eating, drinking and most importantly life are there to be enjoyed with friends, family and lovers. A little piece of Argentina in the middle of Melbourne cbd!
Top service, great quality produce.
The polenta chips are fantastic, but the vacio takes all the prizes!
Came here last night and the food was amazing! Our server Alex was also fantastic! He was extremely friendly and professional. He also gave us some delicious recommendations. Will definitely come visit again.
Wow!! We had no idea we were walking into a place like this!! The music, the atmosphere, the staff...THE FOOD!!!Absolutely delicious.. 100% coming back here with a booking to show off that I’ve eaten here to my friends! Well done!
Came here for a special anniversary. The staff were real friendly and informative. Julia in particular was really friendly and helpful.
The food is delicious. The steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly - it was like cutting through butter, and the empanadas and tuna ceviche were stand outs from the smaller dishes.
Definitely coming back.
I organised dinner with 2 of my friends for our combined birthday celebration, When I made the online booking,I requested to have a seated table (and not at the bar) since its a birthday gathering. The reply from my email was very warm and would see to it that we get a good location in the restaurant. I was very excited to try this well known Argentinian restaurant and their infamous steak!
🔆LOCATION🔆
Myers Place is a laneway between Bourke Street and Little Collins Street. Very easy to locate and the restaurant has a very large red illuminated signage outside which is easily noticeable as you turn into the lane way.
🔆SERVICE🔆
Exceptional, everyone is friendly and very helpful.
One of my friend is pregnant and they were able to accommodate her by giving her a plate for her to select her peices of meat from the table so they can cook the meat to well done.
Our seating was for 2 hours ( as per stipulated in their online reservation) but they were very nice to allow us to stay extra 30 minute so we could enjoy our dessert and celebrate our birthdays.
🔆MENU/PRICE🔆

🔆VERDICT🔆
We had an absolutely fabulous night. The service, food, atmosphere was great.
We shared everything so that we try more options. We clearly ordered more than enough. Steak were a bit too rare for our liking but other than that everything was delicious.
Will definitely come back for a group dinner.
Highly recommended if you love eating steak! =)
Wow, 5 stars on every metric. Do yourself a favor dine at San Telmo! The imported Argentinian grill ensures phenomenal meat dishes. The service and atmosphere are both amazing too.
Sat outside on a beautiful autumn evening. Awesome service - the waitress explained the menu wonderfully and we had the exact right amount of food. The steak was perfectly cooked and they even charred a few pieces for my friend who can only eat it extra well done. Thoroughly recommend.
San Telmo is hands down one of my favourite places in Melbourne. I'm originally from South America so I'm always excited to try South American restaurants, specially if they specialise in Steaks. San Telmo does not disappoint. They offer a range of beautiful cooked meats paired with carefully thought salads and vegetables. I would highly recommend to start with the empanadas, and the yellowfin tuna ceviche, have one of the amazing steaks as a main (ojo de bife was what i've had a couple of times) and pair with a couple of veggies like the batatas (sweet potato) or carrots or the brocoli. Every time I visit San Telmo go I want to return to try more of their amazing food. To finish, i would recommend the alfajor cookie - a traditional argentinian cookie that hits the spot after such a rich meal.
San Telmo is a delightful place with delicious food.
The vibrancy and elegant interior reminded me of a beautiful classy hotel. The dining area and decor are exquisite and if seated at the bar you get a view of the chefs at work, while the meats are cooking away.
The food is lovely but can be a little pricey. However it is worth it for such a fantastic meal.
We ordered a selection of tapas style dishes, which included: a grilled style cheese, sausage, divine potatoes and succulent chicken.
Their drinks are also remarkable, serving as a refreshing factor.
Astounding place and would definitely recommend, however as they are a little pricey I have ducked them a star. Still it was an absolute pleasure to dine at San Telmo.
San Telmo would now have to be one of The Dear Luncher’s favourite places to dine. As The Secretary of Steak, many places of equal stature in the steak game have been visited over the years. Everything is shared at San Telmo, which does indeed mess with the innate greediness of The Dear Luncher. But you must trust the process ladies and lunchers ...this is the way to eat at San Telmo. Get yourself a little bit of everything in you, it’s worth it. This was the first visit back to San Telmo after an initial visit maybe 6-7 years ago.
Beef empanada’s kicked off proceedings and a fellow Luncher remarked that these were the best empanada’s he’s ever had. The Dear Luncher was in full agreement. Superb parcel of meat this, just a wonderful blend of beef, olive and egg. After this, a charcuterie selection. This was unreal too. “Plato de Picada” (nothing to do with the Greek philosopher), priced at only $20 you get yourself a very decent array of cold meats and pickles. There was one on there that was a lot like a mortadella, only better.
A fellow Luncher ordered the chicken. This wasn’t something that The Dear Luncher was expecting to feast on this particular visit. It turned out to be a boss-move. This free range corn fed half chicken with minced garlic was divine. Moist and supple slices of chicken, the likes of which The Dear Luncher had not experienced since a very sensual, out of body experience with a half-chicken at Rockpool a few years back. Exquisite. That actually sounded a bit wrong. Apologies.
The pièce de résistance was easily the “Ojo De Bife”. Don’t you just love it when you see the word “Bife” on a menu? You just know it’s the Portuguese way of saying beef, but there’s just a different way that it rolls of the tongue when you say it. $80 might scare you away, but don’t let it. DON’T BE A STEAK GIRLY-MAN. The Dear Luncher’s favourite steak is the rib eye on the bone and San Telmo’s edition of this cut is a must-have for all you steak fiends out there. Simply stunning. Each slither of meat was savoured by all three participants. Unreal. Stupendously good.
SIDES: Papas: Potato, pepperonata, parsley, fried capers and aioli. Zanahorias: Burnt carrots, hazelnut pecada, thyme and garlic goats curd. Both excellent. Unique. The carrots in particular were a surprise. The Dear Luncher isn’t sure how it’s possible to make carrots so interesting. But San Telmo manage to pull it off.
The Dear Luncher cannot even momentarily understate just how much of a fan he is of San Telmo. It’s a holy moment, a revelation. It’s biblical. It’s uplifting. #PREACH.
Came here for Valentines day, we really enjoyed our dinner. We love everything that we ordered, the staff are very nice, they are very helpful with our choice of food, the steak is very recommended!
Fantastic experience. A must for steak lovers. The sides were delicious and complemented the meat well.
Was tough to get our booking but was worth the wait. Can’t wait to come back again.
My one and only place I will go when im craving for steak. you name it, they have it, from a piece of decent steak to very high grade beef or dry aged beef. Steak never go wrong in here.
4.3/5
Food -
Ceviche:
Decent! Quality was well but the sauce lacked much taste. The fish has a very strong taste itself.
Mejilla de cerdo:
Fantastic! Extremely well grilled pork couple with crackles packed a lot of great taste. A must try!
Papas:
Good! A must order with all the meat for the balance. Although I can only imagine the roasted potatoes would been better cut in smaller pieces to elevate the crusty edges.
Vacio:
Decent! The quality of the flank steak was decent, but nothing special besides the way it was cooked.
Entraña:
Fantastic! The hanger steak was extremely well made and the quality of it was magnificent with a great blend of lean meat and taste. A must try!
Oje de bife:
Fantastic! The rib eye was incredible and packed much taste with the fat. If you fancy a fattier steak, rib eye is a must try!
Flan:
Amazing! The caramel pudding was extremely good and consisted of great balanced sweetness with all the ingredients used. A must try!
Service -
Great and friendly staff. We came half an hour late of our appointment and the staff was very solution oriented. They quickly rearranged our table placement so it did not disrupt our dining experience. And trust me, you will need two hours if you’re going for multiple courses.
Location & Atmosphere -
Great! Well designed restaurant and decoration. The music was spot on with a blend of slow insteumental blues, jazz and Argentinian (I believe) music. One note I may add is that the inside may get smoky at times and it will affect your clothes.
Overall -
A definite must try for meat lovers! It is worth the money and I highly recommend it!
Before come here, make sure to booked first otherwise you’re not gonna get a table for sure. I walked in, no staffs coming to welcome us,need to come inside and find them by myself. Eventhough i booked, i still need to wait for 20 minutes for them to prepare the table. However, the staffs was friendly and attentive. What disappoint me is that the waiting game of the food that i ordered..it took so long between each meal to another meal. It feels like forever.
FOOD
Chapa
Empanada
Batatas
Entraña
Cuadril De Cordero
Tarta De Chocolate
Overall, the food was amazing! The chapa was so good, i love the eggplant pickless and the roti when eat together!the empanada is fried perfectly to crispy brown! The fillings was basically minced meat but full of flavours..the cuadril de cordero was the best of the best! The lamb was so juicy and melted in your mouth. Entraña was so good too, not as soft as the lamb but perfectly cooked meat too! Batatas was baked perfectly too, perfectly seasoned and the cheese well combine together.. tarta de chocolate was super good too! The chocolate tart, combine with honeycomb and ice cream was heaveen!! Why this is so gewwd??!
Will come back again for sure!hopefully the service and the food gets better and better!
#BHAsFoodDiary
Came here for our Christmas team lunch. Enjoyed the $80 banquet and excellent service. San Telmo had a very friendly ambience. The beef steak and grilled pork were very tasty. Entrees and mains were very substantial and desserts are perfect for sweet toothes. Perfect for a corporate lunch or dinner.
If you want to sit somewhere quiet, ask to sit where the bar is. Ordered the squid for entree which was underwhelming, will not be getting that again. Main was lamb which was cooked perfectly, fatty and delicious! The eye fillet was the star, melt in your mouth and superbly cooked, could not fault that. Best steak of my life. Potatoes as side was nice also. They give you complementary chimmi churri and salsa which was nice with the meat.
So so good!
We came here for the New Years banquet and weren’t disappointed. From start to finish the food was amazing and the staff more so. They had live musicians and the vibe was great; it’s always great at Sam Telmo.
The tuna civiche and the steak were both to die for.
Can’t wait to go back!
This restaurant does the best steak. Freshly prepared and they cook it right in front of you if you sit at the bar.
The larger steaks take a bit longer but they let you know when ordering and it’s absolutely worth the wait. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves meat, appreciates great quality produce and steaks cooked to perfection.
I ordered the O’Connor’s premium dry aged pasture fed bone in sirloin, the carrots and polenta chips. I would recommend all dishes, especially the steak.
When we arrived, my party and I had no idea where to start. Many of us hadn't been to this restaurant before so we were very, very indecisive. Luckily, our friendly waiter saved us from our predicament and offered to order for us based on our 'hunger levels' - which ranged from 'somewhat hungry' to 'ravenous'. This proved to be a great decision, and we ended up with a sample of almost everything on the menu.
Everything, from the appetisers to to desert, was exceptional quality. My personal favourites were the eye fillet, and those dulce de leche-filled biscuits (unfortunately I can't recall what they were called exactly). Meat was perfectly cooked, and there were a great selection of beers and wines to complement the food.
We had a great experience overall. Pricey, but well worth it.
Pros: steak was phenomenal. It was cooked to absolute perfection. Quite rare when asked for medium rare steak that it is actually medium rare throughout the whole steak but this is the place for it! The herb oil that came with the steak went very well with the meat. The mango dessert was satisfying to end with, it wasn't too sweet which I like.
Cons: recommended to order enough (over-order if have to) in one go. We under-ordered and when we asked if we could order more, we couldn't because apparently we had to leave at a certain time which felt rushed. No other sauces (eg. Mushroom sauce) on the menu. If the sauce/salsa/herb oil is not for you, there isn't much choice left. Sashimi had a very fishy after taste.
4.5
Came as a group of 4, all love this place so the expectations were high.
Friendly and attentive staff.
Wine: delicious
Food: amazing as always.
Ordered:
Pastries, sirloin on the bone, the flank, eye fillet and sides (Tomatoes, patatas).. dessert, chocolate tart and flan.
I have to say, after visiting numerous occasions, in a small or big group (las time we came with a group of 30), or even just 2 people, the food and service still amazes me.
Keep doing what you’re doing, please visit if you haven’t already.

Finally tried out the steak here at San Telmo and I could not have left more happy!
We didn't have a booking and was seated at the bar which we could not complain about. I loved sitting at the bar to watch how the food was prepared.
We opted for the 1.3kg steak and it was cooked to perfection. The sides we opted for were the beetroot and baby carrots.
The beef tartare was also amazing. I loved having it with the potato chips.
The creme caramel was devine and is a must have when you go.
I really enjoyed the service here. The staff was attentive and gave great suggestions for us.
Cant wait to come back for more steak!
