I’ve been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. Food is always perfect, and ambience is great for date nights, casual enough for hangouts with friends but also quiet and classy enough for a business drink.

The Hiramasa Namerou is my absolute favourite. It’s this white fish sashimi served with rice crackers and it’s perfection. The wagyu beef is one of the best I’ve had in Melbourne. Also love the cocktails. If you’re a fan of matcha/green tea, then the Matcha San is sure to please!

Went for a friends wedding. Had a 6-7 course banquet, had a sashimi platter, fish, pork belly with soy broth, kaarage chicken, crab croquettes, beef takaki, maki sushi rolls, bowl of wedges, renkon chips and sweet potato fries and a bowl of edamame. Sashimi platter was super fresh, salmon was melt in the mouth, tuna was fatty and kingfish was fresh, fish dish was nice, had tofu with a broth, pork belly was good, kaarage chicken was ok, needed some salt, came with mayo and lemon but needed seasoning, crab croquettes tasted a bit burnt for my liking, the sauce that came with it was nice, beef takaki was nice, crispy outside with the jelly like beef, best dish out of all of them, maki rolls were nice and the others were good, overall an enjoyable night, service was excellent. Would recommend this place if you’re in South Wharf. Got parking discount from the restaurant as well.

The reasons I would revisit @akachochinmelb: 1. Happy hour drinks of $6 beer and wine till 6:30pm 2. It’s located right outside DFO Southwharf and 3. $20 generous lunch deals.

💬 review: We took advantage of the 50% @theforkau deal to try this place. Loved the relaxing ambience and happy hour drinks! The standout dishes during our meal there were the salmon aburi (seared salmon sushis) and prawn tempura with curry mayo. The lightly seared salmon was perfectly done (love the slight Smokey taste) and the Japanese puff coated prawn tempuras were pretty divine. who would have thought that Japanese puffs would make a good tempura topping!

We sadly didn’t enjoy the tuna tataki which was recommended by the staff - the avocado cream did not do much to the overall dish. The lamb ribs were a bit oilier than usual, though I must say the lotus chips were yum. We ordered the dessert special of green tea panna cotta with matcha ice cream and I especially enjoyed the matcha ice cream.

With a 50% discount, the meal totalled $50 (this excludes dessert and drinks). Would come back for the lunch deals and drinks!

Very busy during the weekend. During the weekdays they offer lunch specials which is what I got, chose the grilled pork belly option which comes with rice, salad, miso soup and three slices of sashimi. Good value. I've been here a couple of times for drinks at night which has a slightly different atmosphere to lunch. Great cocktails and special deals on drinks too. Service is friendly and quick.

I thought this restaurant had a great vibe, with a nice view and being really nicely decorated. The food was good, but it came in rather small portions and even after we ordered lots more than we usually would, around 8 dishes, our family of 4 still was not satisfied. The sushi wasn’t that great, with the slices of fish on top not the best quality for its price. The price for the quantity of food we received was really not great. A $38 Wagyu beef dish consisted of around 6 slices of thin beef, really not worth it. It was the same for the other foods, and it really was just quite disappointing. The service was good, but I probably wouldn’t go again just because of the price.

Stumbled upon this little gem along the Yarra one fine Saturday afternoon and decided to go there for lunch. It was a great decision! From the moment we stepped into this little joint, we felt like we were transported back to Japan. We ordered the lunch specials and a serve of tuna sushi, and everything was delicious. This is a great little place to hang out with friends on a Friday night or a casual lunch on the weekends.

We were welcomed here on a cold Sunday night by the extremely friendly staff. The menu is fairly varied and none of the dishes I ate were disappointing, however for the price you pay they definitely weren’t outstanding either. Would recommend coming here if you’re in South Wharf and feel like eating Japanese, however if you’re in the city then there are plenty of viable alternatives to not make the trip to this restaurant worthwhile.

Everything was good ,presented and served well. But they lacked a certain element to make it exceptional or memorable. I was told the panacotta will come with green tea ice cream but it was served vanilla which is fine. The vegetable chips were really sweet potato chips but great chips. The tuna Tataki however had an amazing sauce with it and was delicious. The Waguy yaki also had a great plum sauce with it but the meat was a bit chewy.
Overall a good experience

In celebration for my birthday, we decided to enjoy our favourite cuisine- sushi. Located right outside DFO South Wharf along a coast of bars and ambient restaurants, Akachochin offers some of the freshest tasting sushi in Melbourne.

With great service to start our evening, we ordered the sashimi sake, aburi salmon, spicy tuna and the salmon avocado. The sashimi was very fresh and thick, tasting very delicious in our mouths, whilst the spicy tuna (not that spicy) added a delightful pallet change. The aburi salmon was equally thick and gorgeous in flavour, and the salmon avocado was excreting freshness per bite.

Although the size of the sushi here isn't as big, we were impressed with the quality of ingredients, freshness, range, ambience, service and value. A definite recommendation for a wonderful evening at Southbank!

Food and service was good! We had the set lunch at 20 dollars and it came with salmon sashimi which was fresh. The pork was good too and my wagyu beef udon was abit oily but probably it’s because of the fat in the beef. The soup was nevertheless tasty. I chose this restaurant over the food court in the dfo because for about the same price I paid ( food court costs about 13-15 dollar easily ) I rather go here. We are glad we made the right choice.

Tried Akachochochin as they have a 50% food deal on.

The dishes are pretty decent. The nigiri moriawase set had a nice range of nigiris. Each piece were quite fresh and the rice was good.

Wagyu tataki was ok, surprisingly it was a little bit tough for MB6 wagyu.

New style buta kukuni was a let down. The skin had potential to be crispy but it was more chewy and rubbery. The meat was tender though.

If it wasn't for the 50% off i would say it's not worth the price you pay as portion size is tiny.

I was pretty pleased with Akachochin. I came here with some colleagues for a Friday lunch. Being a nice day we sat outside by the Yarra. The venue is pretty nice.

Menu is quite varied. A colleague ordered the Lunch set menu ($25) which included a bit of miso, a bit of salad, some salmon sashini, steamed rice and pork belly. Quantity wise it was more than I had expected. But I had to try their sashimi so convinced my other colleague of sharing some other stuff.

We had the 12-hour twice cooked pork belly which was super tender and delicious. In came in a super subtle broth that was just divine. The sashimi (though not the best I've had in Melbourne) was very good too. Accompanied with proper grated wasabi. We also had a soft-shell crab roll which was delicious and the Aburi set (4 different nigiris torched with direct flame which gives them an incredibly delicious smoky taste).

The Aburi set was one of my favorites with that delicious taste I love so much and nicely presented. An Asahi to wash all down and it was a pretty good lunch. My share of all of that was about $60. Not the cheapest but very happy with the quality of the food. Recommended.

Visited this Japanese restaurant a few times this month. Sushi and sashimi are generally very fresh, sometimes the rice is bit hit and miss with its fluffiness. Premium Waygu Beef was a bit disappointing as it was not melting in my mouth and quite chewy although it is medium rare. Fish of the day - Salmon was cooked perfectly, pink inside and great sauce. One of the best highlights, Teriyaki Chicken, one of the best i have tasted. I will compare it to Japan when I am heading to Tokyo in May.  Hiramasa Namerou is a recommended starter, moromi miso mellow and sweet taste goes very well with the kingfish. Spicy tuna maki is also another notable recommendations. Pork Belly, it is an average dish, don't expect crispy skin. Seafood tempura, the batter is not as light as it should be. Overall the atmosphere especially it is overlooking Yarra River, sightseeing boat passing by and best of all for kids, helicopter landing and taking off. It is very relaxing and i am surprised that it is not busier on the weekend. Come to the portion size, it is quite small for the price. If they can increase the portion by 20-30% with the same price, it may attract more customers and more value for money. Expect to spend about $120 for 2 persons for a decent meal without beverages.

I would like to start this by saying thank you so much for giving us a very delightful new year eve (and happy new year 2018).

We booked a place here for nye considering that it's next to river and we are really counting for a great food night with flowing drinks and just a great place to start the year. And you guys have done that.

Beautiful place. Great service.

To be completely fair.. when I first read the menu I was a bit concern of how much sashimi is on it (I love sashimi but I was hoping for something more than that as well). But it was just the right amount. We weren't "stuffed" by the end of the night but were not hungry or needing anymore (so maybe that's just us loving to over eat lol)

Now the menu...
Oyster champagne was .. weird lol. Inventive but I think I prefer oyster in more traditional form. Scallop sashimi was ok..i wasn't crazily fond of. Scampi sashimi and venison was absolutely beautiful. Soba dish was ok..and the meat was also very beautiful. Surprisingly good dessert to end the night.

But I would like to specially mention that they do have a wonderful lists of sake. We were feeling really lucky that we choose this place that comes with free flow sake all night because this is our chance to try different kind and their knowledgeable and caring staff given us the best experience.

I also want to point out that they do great mocktail. So I could only imagine how great the cocktail would be. Once again. Great place for special occasion.

The reviews seem to be up and down for this restaurant, luck may have been on our side when we came for lunch. The restaurant was semi full but we were attended to straight away and offered a range of tables. We opted for outside as it was a lovely day and wanted to watch the helicopters land and take off. The manager bought us water straight away has we had been walking and she thought we would be thirsty. As soon as we were ready our order was taken and it didn’t take long for us to be eating. The Signature Kingfish Tartare was fresh and very tasty, while the Miso Soup surprisingly had small pieces of fish which was enjoyable. Shared the Sushi Moriawase platter and again we weren’t disappointed. Our only criticism, it was a bit price for a light lunch.

Walked in on a quiet afternoon d place was almost empty. Greeted by the manager San & promptly seated. Mature Japanese lady appeared busy though hardly many customers which appeared to be of topical in Japanese workplace..lol.
Beautiful urban interior with bit of retro Japanese Izakaya style ambiance. We ordered set lunch menu with some sashimi on the side. Sashimi appeared fresh & presented well. Miso soup had that complex miso qualities of good miso. Grilled pork had good charred yakitori taste. Only down side is the Rice as we expected it to be good quality Japanese rice but served us cheap local rice lacking of the nice texture Japanese rice has. I guess restauranter thinks rice not as an important element? Has a really good selection of Japanese whiskeys & great Sake like Dassai. Overall recommend place to try. I would need to try the dinner menu for more of a higher review. Overall food quality, taste, ambiance & service against price gives an overall rating of 3.7*

My wife and I had a simple yet beautiful dinner here tonight. I had the Sushi Mirwase and my wife had the agedashi tofu with mixed vegetable sauce. Both were beautifully prepared. My sushi was the best I have had since I moved to Melbourne. My wife's tofu was delicious and the vegetable sauce was well balanced, delicate and beautiful. I opted for the green tea ice cream and it was delicious. My wife had the sweet potato creme brûlée and she loved it. Will definitely come back!

After having been to Japan, our standard of Japanese cuisine has become maybe slightly pretentious but we love the food at akachochin it is definitely on par with some of the amazing food we had there.
It is definitely on the higher end of pricing, however we do have large appetites/stomachs

I'm very surprised that the reviews are either incredibly good or bad for this restaurant. It makes me think the restaurant is really inconsistent. I've been hesitant to come here because the menu is so small and "typical", nothing piqued my interest. It was quiet on Tuesday night, with maybe a quarter of the restaurant full after 7 (empty except for one table when we arrived at 6:30). The cocktails were very strong but didn't have much taste (apart from the alcohol component). Unagi nigiri was really nice - the unagi was some of the best I've had in Melbourne, very moist and even some nice char (a bit too much sauce made the rice underneath wet and fall apart though). On the other hand, the salmon aburi nigiri was below average, lacking the the char and smokiness from a good torching. I'm also not sure if it was quite the right cut of salmon. The spicy tuna maki was pleasant though not spicy at all. The tebasaki gyoza was really well made, even if personally I'd prefer one or the other. The crab cream harumaki were excellent - perfectly crispy but incredibly creamy inside. I was very impressed by how well these were made. We weren't that full but there wasn't anything else we wanted to try. We opted to finish with a sweet potato brulee. I was again really impressed by how much sweet potato flavour they managed to get into that dessert. The texture was spot on too. Overall, the food was pretty good, and the service was excellent. I seem to be fortunate to be here on a good day, as judging from other comments, there are frequent bad days, which is a real shame.

Food: the food is great, nothing on the menu is typical so it's a bit of an adventure. One of my favourites is nabeyaki udon so was good to try their take on that. It's hard to tell from the menu if the dishes are substantial or not, just have the price to go on.
Service: seated immediately, the wait staff are professional and efficient.
Ambience: they have put a heap of effort into the inside, it's really nice. The tabletops, bowls, plate are quality. The helipad across the river though ... the helicopters are loud.
Verdict: it's not cheap given location and quality and the dish sizes not generous, but it'd be good for quiet dinner or somewhere to take a date?

One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Melbourne, and I keep coming back here for more. Every time we're in town, I always promise myself I will try a new restaurant, but more often than not I break my promise for Akachochin!

Food is original and tasty, raw fish are fresh and they got river view - what more could you ask for?! Maybe a clean toilet would be nice, but wait... they have that too!

My favourite is their Kingfish Tartare, obviously also their signature dish. And their Agedashi Tofu is the best! I know I said Longrain has the best silken Tofu, but Akachochin's tofu is the best tofu, period.

The chefs at Akachochin are simply brilliant and deserves more recognition. I've eaten everything here that I possibly could and it never gets old.

Last night I had dinner at Akachochin with a friend. We decided to share a number of dishes together so we could try a mixture of dishes.

Our first dish was Akachochin's signature dish called the Hiramasa Namerou. This was Japanese style Kingfish tartare with wasabi stem and moromi miso. It is also served with rice crackers. This is under their Sushi & Sashimi section of their menu. It was the most unique sushi/sashimi I've ever tried so far. My friend doesn't normally eat raw fish besides from salmon so kudos to her for trying something different and actually liking it! The wasabi was very subtle, could have had a tiny bit more added in I think. The kingfish was definitely the star and tasted very good. I also liked the rice crackers which gave the dish a nice texture. Akachochin provided us with four rice crackers which was enough for the 2 of us - we ended up having one left over since the rice crackers are a generous size.

Next we tried another item from their Sushi & Sashimi part of their menu. We tried the Wagyu Tataki. I knew I had to try this dish!! I've had a lot of wagyu in other Japanese restaurants and every single time it's quite different. This was no exception. I think this was the first time I had seared wagyu without rice so it wasn't your typical aburi, instead it was more like a wagyu sashimi. It had a really lovely citrus chilli miso sauce but once again the spiciness of the sauce was quite subtle. I would have liked a bit more chilli. The highlight of the Wagyu Tataki was surprisingly the deep fried leek!! I've never thought of deep frying leek before but it was amazing!

We also tried one of their hot dishes. This time we decided to try a vegetarian dish. We ordered the Zucchini Mustard Yaki. My friend doesn't normally eat zucchini but she tried it and she said she would have it again, and made her think differently about zucchini. My favourite part of the dish was definitely the mustard and miso sauce!! I think it was the best sauce that we had on any of our dishes!!!

Lastly we tried one of their sushi rolls. We chose the Salmon Avocado Maki. It was very lovely and fresh!

Customer service was great. The waiter knew a lot about the dishes served at Akachochin and he was able to give us some recommendations. Definitely listen to their recommendations since they know what they are talking about. I don't think we would have tried the Zucchini Mustard Yaki if the waiter had not recommended it.

I would also recommend eating in their outside area. You get a lovely view of South Wharf and the river. Plus although it was a rainy day we didn't have to worry about feeling cold or getting poured on. The area is under cover and there is a cover on the window area so you can look out and not have to worry about the weather.

I was very impressed with Akachochin. It's not your typical traditional Japanese food but it is one of the better Japanese restaurants in Melbourne that I've been to since returning from my holiday in Japan.

My upvote for Akachochin wasn't for the food, but for the good vibes and the great attention to detail this establishment has as a dining experience. The interior decor is lovely! I enjoyed the food here, but nothing too extraordinary. In fact, the sashimi here is quite expensive even for Wednesday sashimi night. Further, the fried chicken wing gyoza (a must try according to many) was a bit of a let down as the wing was very soggy. Innovative concept nonetheless, but I prefer the on at Gypsy and Pig. Would recommend to try, but only if you're in the area.

Really good place for a meal. Only loses 0.5 of a star because of the price-y-ness.
Though I must admit the $20 lunch special is good value and quite filling.
I opted for Option 1:
- salmon sashimi
- agedashi tofu (other options available but this is what I picked)
- miso soup
- rice

If that's not enough for you, what will be? I am impressed by how nice the interior design is here, it's sleek and lovely.

Came here on a Thursday, was lucky to get spot despite no booking. The layout makes you feel comfortable and the roof top has two sumos wrestling with each other. I ordered the sushi set and wow. The sushi is fresh and nice. Each bite is enriched with flavours. I deffinately recommend the sushi here. However, the udon and other dishes are lacking a little. For the price, its pretty average. So if you are shopping at dfo south wharf and crave some sushi. Try out this place. If you're up for noodles, then try elsewhere.

So much yum in this quiet, serene spot on the South Wharf. Beautiful setting, quiet ambiance and wonderful service for a daring Japanese tapas menu that indulged a variety of flavours and textures. The highlights were the sweet potato creme brulee, green tea ganache, steamed egg custard with seafood, inside out prawn and avocado roll and zucchini with seeded mustard and mayo. As dining experience goes, this was pretty close to perfect for us.

Ventured out for lunch today to Akachochin for the first time at Noon and chose their Sashimi Moriawase (platter equalling  9 pieces of assorted sashimi) at $33, it was plated nicely and served within 10 minutes of ordering. Service provision was spot on, friendly & efficient (I was served by the manageress & a waitress). The background music was at a suitable level to be heard over easily. The décor was bright and full of contrast and I loved their white marble table tops, very clean in appearance.

The Juror's Verdict: Food 4/5, Service Provision 5/5, Will I return: Maybe, a tad expensive

Okay we ordered the tasting with the matching sake. End of the day the place isn't a 3 hat venue but thank goodness is isnt. I picked this place to meet friends we havent seen in years. The vibe was fantastic, the service was great and the sratf were fantastic.

Food wise it was without flaw, the Sake incredibly well matched.  I love my wine and was really pleased to get an amazing intro to the world of Sake I didn't know existed.

If you want a quiet romantic dinner, not the place. If you want the buzz of Japan with the food, drink and fun to match then this is the place.

We had a great time and we will be back.

Located in a slice of a large warehouse structure, Akachochin makes a lovely addition to South Warf!

I'm not too familiar with Japanese cuisine passed the odd sashimi, so this was very hard to rate! However, I do know and appreciate that the techniques take years to master.

On a Saturday night we ordered the Tasting Menu ($66pp) with paired sake ($30pp). We were presented with an assortment of delicacies including:

(1) mandarin cured scallops, (2) platter of assorted sashimi, (3) slow cooked ginger and spiced pork neck, (4) fried tooth fish, (5) beef short rib tomato misoni and (5) black sesame panacotta with green tea ice-cream.

Each course was delightful, favourites including the tooth fish, pork neck and sashimi! Dessert was a little small for me (I'm a huge dessert fan!) and I felt like one of the small dishes could have been larger.

The service was outstanding, feeling refined and welcoming :) Overall, delicious fresh and delicate food, hospitable service and a lovely dining experience :)

Nabe is a Japanese style hotpot. For $29 p/p they provide a massive plate of pork belly and chicken with assorted vegetables for the hot pot. The soup base tasted interesting and the chicken mince was a welcome addition. They also have a seafood option available for the same price.

Fabulous experience here. It is located beside the river so the view is good. Food here is delicious as well, especially the wangyu salad and tuna roll.

Gastrology recently explored the South Wharf Promenade on a gastronomic tour of six eateries. It was a delight to visit Melbourne’s oldest but newest riverside neighbourhood. The dining showcased the versatility of the dining precinct through the Progressive Dinner's five-course degustation which took us through the renowned Melbourne restaurants Akachochin, Bohemian, BangPop, Common Man and Meat Market.

The Degustation menu is a hit or miss depending on what the chef wants to serve you. But having been here a few times I prefer to just order from the menu.

Try the Gyoza stuffed chicken wing.

Excellent interplay between traditional and modern Japanese. I've wanted to come here for a while and wasn't disappointed. Yes, it may be slightly pricey for what seemed to be small portioned dishes, but the food quality and mindful service was delightful enough that I was happy for the experience. The highlight was the simple steamed rice with unagi and egg omelette, whist the slow cooked beef was a great accompaniment. Will come back to test out the sushi and sashimi.

Really enjoyed the service at Akachochin, as our waitress for the night, Naruko, was friendly and helpful. I asked her recommendations, which she pointed out and described, all with a smile and a small bow. Food was delicious, some of the best Japanese food I have had in a long time, and each suggestion was great, authentic and different to any Japanese restaurant I have been to. Loved all the dishes, they each had their own uniqueness - wagyu tataki, crunchy sushi rolls, kingfish sushi, udon, and the sweet potato brulee!

Love the decor inside (especially the massive sumo wrestling photo hanging on the roof), and staff were very pleasant as my friends and I had kept chatting until 10.30pm (closing time was 10 PM), and they didn't hurry us up, and were patient enough to wait around until we left.

Excellent and authentic Japanese food in a nice and welcoming environment! Will definitely come back.

Good location, good ambiance and good service! Gyoza tebasaki was unique but not great. Wagyu tataki was nice with the addition of crispy leek on top, wish they put some lemon on it to give it more flavour. Sushi was just okay. Pretty pricey but i think it's because of their location

I love this place! I've been here about half a dozen times, normally for the set menu with sake pairing - so much fun! On this occasion we went a la carte and bought the sake tasting selection separately. Food is always delicious and service is attentive but not over-the-top. My favourite dish is the chicken wing dumpling - yum!!!

This used to be our frequent go-to place for high quality Japanese food around where we live. However, I feel that standards have dropped a bit. Sometimes we have to wait an hour for food which is ridiculous. This was one of the specials of the day – tuna tartare on square rice. The tempura dish is a staple that I order every single time because they come out fresh and hot. It is quite a small serving for $18 and comes with one prawn, one piece of fish and a few other vegetables and sweet potato chips. Unfortunately, each time I go back, the quality gets slighter worse each time.

Went here yesterday with my friends. Sushi is quite good and pretty cheap. But others are kind of expensive. Highly recommend their sushi. Anyway, had a good evening!

They have sapporo on tap which is pretty nice and fresh draft beer, and udon i ordered was very nice with the soup, udon noodle was made perfectly(compare to those very bland and soft) there's no need for any extra seasoning.Tempura however, was thicker floured than it should (in my opinion), although they were very fresh and crunchy. I didn't expect much judging there wasn't much traffic at night, regardless, staff was very attentive and friendly to us.

Nice presentation, nice area. Food are in avarage price range, proportion is a little less, but it is understandable for a Japanese restaurant.
Food were decent, sashimi were fresh, the the kingfish stand out from all of them, it taste amazing.
Nice place to have dinner with friends.

Had the lunch special with a pot of sapporo for $25. Overall the food and service was good and we were seated at the sushi bar.
The salmon sashimi was fresh and tasty. asked for the teriyaki pork belly, which tasted more thai than japanese - not that i seemed to mind as it was still delicious.
Would go back.

This is a place where the food does all the talking. Through the door u are greeted by a sleek dining hall with elements that were undeniably Japanese. From the wood decor, glass sashimi chiller display, sake bottles and sushi chefs busy preping hand rolls to order. This place may not be as fine as Nobu, but it does live up to its standard. The food is delicious. I had the Beef Tataki, Kingfish & Tuna Sashimi, Spicy Tuna & Salmon Hand Rolls, Grilled Pork, Chicken & Beancurd, Seafood Udon and Salmon Skin Salad.

Beef Tataki
Thick cut gave it wonderful texture of good cut of beef. Paired with miso and hay dressing. This dish was delicious. Like I said, the satisfaction is as good as Nobu's beef Tataki. Good pairing of flavors.

Seafood Udon
You can straight away tell the soup is nothing like ordinary. The smokey bonito flavors gave it a strong body. Good udon and generous seafood serving all in a hot clay pot. Good presentation and taste is nothing less than amazing for plain ol udon.

Tuna & Kingfish Sashimi
Fresh cuts of fish served with a side of freshly grind Wasabi paste.

Grilled Chicken, Pork and Beancurd
Good char gave it a smoky taste. True BBQ. Paired with a sauce that was just delicious. It was sweet, salty and smokey. It was just amazing. Must try

Every dish puts a smile on your face. A must try restaurant. Very good.

Good service and great sushi. The sushi was super fresh and because the weather was a little cold, we sat outside next to heater and were very comfortable. The ramen was okay, but I'd recommend sticking with the sushi and unagi if you visit.

Izakaya style restaurant along the river. They have a myriad of dishes to choose ranging from japas small plates to bigger main dishes. We tried the sake flight which is interesting and allow us to test different kinds of sake. The beef Carpaccio is a delight. Service is great although pricing is a little steep. Food - 7 Service - 9 Vibe - 8 Price - $$$$

Such a versatile dining place in a perfect location, between the DFO South Wharf and the exhibition centre. Suitable for family with kids as well as for an individual visit. The dining area is not that huge, but has both indoors and outdoors seating facing the river (heated during the winter). It has a great service includes friendly staffs. About the food, it was delicious. I ordered lunch set menu, pork belly set and pork katsu which all were delicious snd came out in a perfect portion. The serving speed was quick and the price was decent. Glad to have this option at the area.

This is the best Japanese restaurant in Melbourne without breaking your bank! Cooked in traditional methods and presented in a modern way, the chefs & service staff love their work, care about customers & take the time to explain real Japanese food. If you think miso soup is a vegetarian dish, you don't know miso soup! They make the broth from scratch with bonito, it's the best I've ever had here! Awesome sake & cocktails, you must try Dassai Junmai Daiginjo & yuzushu. Unagi cucumber roll and chicken wing gyoza are delicious. I love chawanmushi & they took it to the next level, big bowl of freshly steamed deliciousness. If you want a simple meal, go for udon or unagi on rice, otherwise lunch set is great value for money! Lastly, can you imagine sweet potato creek brûlée? Go eat Akachochin :)
