A huge venue with fabulous views across the pier at Docklands, Woolshed is a great place to stop for a drink with friends. With a fabulous ambience and pleasant, modern decor; it's a relaxing place.
The bar is well stocked with a lovely wine selection, and the casual bar area is a nice spot to chill and watch sport on tv, or chat over some nibbles. There is also a more formal dining area, but I've only been here for drinks. It's a great place to stop by on a gorgeous, sunny day as the views are lovely.
The Woolshed has come a long way in The Dear Luncher’s opinion. It would probably have to be the premier pub in the Docklands area. The ideal venue for pre-game festivities and stomach-lining. A cozy, warm escape from the blustering mess that Docklands can be. The Woolshed dining area offers up decent views of Docklands Stadium. Expansive food and drink menus on offer. The steaks here are superb. The Dear Luncher could not fault the scotch fillet that was consumed. Prime cut. Service within catered to every need, promptly serving up drinks, which is important because The Dear Luncher goes through a lot of drinks.
4.5/5.
We were having a double date night recently and looked to the old entertainment book to suggest a venue. We definitely found the value at Woolshed and I finally satisfied the steak sandwich craving that has been plaguing me for weeks.
They also do delicious cocktail jugs the Pimms being a classic but I'd also recommend the Strawberry one. They used to have an amazing shredded beef BBQ brisket but sadly that seems to have gotten the chop from the revamped menu. Also worth noting at this point they haven't updated their online menu so don't get your heart set on something that's no longer available #bringbackthebrisket.
Update
I'm so glad the Woolshed rose from the ashes and rebuilt themselves better than ever. I've devoured the steak sandwich on more than one occasion and they do this sort of traditional pub food extremely well.
Lovely ambiance overlooking the water in the daytime and equally atmospheric at night with live music playing. It appears as though they have taking this opportunity to relaunch with some more premium dining options while still catering for more casual patrons so there's something to please everyone. One of the better spots in Docklands
Original review
This is a great space to watch the footy and has plenty of atmosphere on grand final day. We were only able to order from a somewhat limited menu given the masses and no table service which was reasonable I suppose. We had calamari, bread with three drips and some sweet potato fries. All yummy sharing style dishes.
The only time I visit the Woolshed seems to be for farewell drinks and meals. Today was no different as I was invited along by my old workplace to farewell a mate I had worked with for over 17 years.
We sat in the covered over deck area with wonderful views over the Docklands waterfront and started with drinks. They had a good range of beers on tap and I chose Little Creatures.
For mains it seems more than half the table chose the most expensive steak ... typical when work is covering the cost. I went for the slow cooked beef cheeks which I highly rated except for the pesto on top which was too much and I ended scraping to the side. The more health conscious seemed to like the chicken salad with a 65 degree egg centre on the plate and a few had the fresh pasta dish cooked quite al dente (too much so for some).
For dessert many like me went for chocolate brownie with meringue and ice cream while a few tried the seasonal mini Christmas pudding which was exceptionally rich so needed to be shared.
Despite being tucked away in the far corner service was very good and the waiting staff member did a great job keeping everyone happy.
The food is delicoius and mouth watering, and the service is charming and attentive. Our waitress Jade was very cheerful, and attentive on a friday night and we overall thoroughly enjoyed our time and had a wonderful dining expierence we will be back!.
Came in a Sunday evening and we were greeted with warm smiles. Loved the ambience of this restaurant.
All the menu items were very interesting. We ordered the pate and pork belly as entrees and steak to share.
We loved everything. The pork belly and the steak were equally our favourite. Will come back soon to try the other dishes !
Nice waiters. Beautiful water views. Very relax place for weekend catch up.nice food and desserts. I will come back another time with friends.
The service was good, the cocktail list was fun and the food was delicious. By recommendation from the waiter, I ordered the duck for my main and I was not left disappointed! I really loved the funky spin on pub food here. They provide the pub food classics but they also offer a delicious array of dishes including the duck dish. I’ll be back.
Every last Sunday of the month can now be spent enjoying French champagne, tiers of delicate savoury and sweet canapes, freshly baked scones and pots of tea at the Woolshed, Docklands. It’s a beautiful location for high tea housed upstairs with top to bottom glass windows which allow the sunshine to stream through and a gorgeous view overlooking the harbour.
Great place for a few drinks...but pretty disappointed they are serving all beers in disposable plastic cups. Not because I'm a beer wanker, but because it's a environmental discgrace.
Good quality food , a bit on the pricey side. We had oysters which were huge as well as a Salmon Fillet and the 300gm Aged Porterhouse. Good place for before or after an event at Etihad. Very large bar area with plenty of beers on tap to choose from.
Wonderful interior with a wooden texture and thoughtful light bulbs. Food menu had something for everybody! And it was pretty filling. So many nice places to sit.

In November last year, the historic Woolshed was devastated by a fire. It could have marked the end of the business, but as tragic as it was, the fire gave them the opportunity to start things afresh, so change they did. It has a new level of class, but still caters for all crowds, whether they’re after a casual place for a beer, maybe a wine or cocktail and bar snacks, or a long lunch.
Great night! Good range of traditional pub meals and "gastro" pub meals. Everything we tried was delicious (a pasta, king fish (special) and beef cheek) although they lost marks as 2 out of 3 mains were served with kale!...Ewwwww!
Huge range of drinks available.
Great venue with large bar, live music, function rooms etc. will be back!
Woolshed is located opposite of the ethihad stadium making it an excellent place to have a drink after a game. While the food was nothing spectacular the waiters were very well mannered and left a great impression. The overall ambience is what I'd come to this place for, right next to the docks and looks amazing both morning and night.
Been here for the steak special midweek. Cook medium rare and used a good cut of meat. Can't wait for them to reopen in the new year and see the new changes.
Pleasant place for a drink looking over the south wharf area. Big selection of what you are after here. I have visited on fri and sat nights and it's buzzing down here. If you want to mingle with the interstate conference crowd this is the place to be (it's sandwiched between the Convention Centre and the Hilton Hotel). House white is a winner here.
Great views of the marina if you're looking for a nice pub to chill and have a few beverages. The menu contains a wide variety of bar food and drinks aren't too expensive!
I had a lovely dinner, had the steak with chips with sauce that was very weird and bitter. The dessert was overpriced for a small piece of cake
Great view just a bit noisy with rowdy drunk people.
Lovely pub to go to with a great vibe from patrons and environment. View perfect- right on the water and over looking the city.
Prices are quite expensive but staff very friendly.
Came here for a hens lunch late last year, so it wasn't the proper dining experience. We had the whole undercover outer part booked out. The views were absolutely stunning!! The service was nice, but again, with 50 screaming women it would be hard to be on your a-game (the noise alone was enough make the best waiter exhausted!) so I think they did a great job considering!
My favourite dish was the eggplant and ricotta involtini, however we were limited to what we could choose from the set menu. I'd love to go back and try the actual menu, although it was pretty expensive! The cured meat window looked amazing!
There is a nice open space for bar-goers, would be a good place to go for a drink.
Lovely atmosphere, even on a packed Friday night the friendly staff managed to find us a table tucked away for dinner. Very friendly and attentive service all night. I had the Polenta absolutely delish! My friend had the steak and was very happy. Quite pricey for pub food but generally a pleasant experience. We'll be back.
I had the beer. It changed my life. In 140 characters oh let me count the ways. Crisp. Clean. Cold. Not in a plastic tumbler. Not spewed from the bowels of the wheel abomination that blots out the sun. Yes. Try the beer. Try woodshed. It's the only thing going for docklands and it's worth it.
Try the BBQ Brisket!!! So glad I ordered it :D .. the slight messiness (if you get your hands in and build your own tortilla) is definitely worth it for the flavours!! 👍👍
Amazing atmosphere, service and even better food! Went for dinner with my partner and our waitress was lovely, ordered an amazing Pinot Grigio, and our food arrived soon after. As a vegetarian I ordered the Eggplant Involtini and it was honestly the best vegetarian meal I've ever eaten. Luckily we saved a bit of room for dessert as the sticky date was incredible. Definitely a must-go if staying in the Dockland area!
Great food ,great service. Lunch with friends on a trip to docklands, great venue, great service. Pork belly is a winner. Cheers for a great meal
It's not what you would call your traditional pub, more like a modern restaurant and bar. We were seated outside which was a bit hot, it would have been better if they had some fans out there. Now that the weather has cooled down a little in Melbourne, it's hard to believe how hot it was! The music they were playing was not to my taste, and didn't seem to match the surroundings (think 90's but in a bad way, not in a fun nostalgic way). The food was good though! I ordered the crispy flounder with green mango chilli salad which was on the specials board. It was absolutely delicious! The salad was nice and refreshing on a hot day. Hubby got the burger which came with a side of chunky potato wedges, this was apparently quite nice too. I thought the "pub" was very nice, and I would be happy to come back.

Woolshed Pub is an excellent option in Docklands. This pub offers one of the best outlooks in the city with the outside area great to enjoy water views. Having been there several times I enjoy the rustic and raw feel of Woolshed Pub. I've met there with large groups for a casual drink, as well as elaborate functions. Woolshed Pub does it all well. The heritage feel is a kind of tribute to its Aussie historical roots as a large warehouse/shed. Woolshed Pub has several intimate and attractive dining spaces and the food here is excellent classic pub fare. Choose from scotch fillets, fish and chips, hand cut chips and daily specials.
Nice joint. Whether it is dropping in for a drink in the casual front bar or moving through to the dining area, the Woolshed does a great job. It does have a good atmosphere and the heaters make it a good spot on a cold night.
We were after a quick dinner and got exactly what we wanted. The chicken ceased salad was a good size and tasted great while the salmon was al title overcooked and on the smaller serving size. It is not cheap at $57 for those two dishes. However we were happy and I would venture back for a feed - maybe some of the shared plates in the bar area...
Delish!. This is easily one of my favourite places to eat in Docklands. The Woolshed Pub is in great location, has wonderfully attentive staff and a lovely fresh, seasonal menu which never disappoints. We started with the crispy-fried pork belly with soy, sweet chilli and coriander (which was a bit of a naughty treat but one of the Woolshed Pub's best known dishes so we had to try it) as well as the sher wagyu full-blood bresaola with pecorino & wild rocket which was lovely and light but full of flavour. For my main I had the kingfish from the specials board with a green bean and feta salad with red pepper vinaigrette. I've had this before and being a creature of habit - I'll more than likely have it again next time!
Good service, friendly and did the three minute check that no one else seems to bother with these days! Nothing to complain about though as we had a terrific lunch today, I had the BBQ chicken breast with potato salad and rocket. A glass of Merlot too. My colleague had the salmon and sav blanc. Delish
Perfect after footy. Missed my mate Tommy Rando perform his solo gig . he is fantastic on a sunday arvo 3-6pm. awesome just to chill and enjoy some drinks watching him , but to also dine here is really lovely. perfect venue to continue on from the footy at Etihad..
GREAT FUNCTION!!!. FANTASTIC!! Had my work christmas party here on Saturday night and couldnt have asked for a better night. All our staff had nothing but rave reviews about the food, service and overall atmosphere. The staff were brilliant and really accomodating. Would highly recommend the woolshed for parties or other functions. 10/10.
Ordered the beef salad, squid and pork belly all to share. Cool atmosphere, nice staff even on a cold wett Melbourne day.
Awesome food atmosphere and drinks. Great venue for a special occasion or casual drinks. The salted chilli squid is the bomb as is the pork belly
Perfect spot for a wedding!. My husband and I recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Woolshed Pub.
The staff were exceptional from the word go and Lee the event coordinator was welcoming and went out of his way to ensure everything was organised for our perfect day. The food was outstanding and left our guests really full and satisfied. The Woolshed offers great pricing for a prime location and it was worth every cent. We were always looking for a laid back relaxed feel for our wedding and Lee and the staff ensured that was how it would be. They took away any stress of organising a function for almost 100 people. We are so grateful to have had such a wonderful experience as it made our day truly memorable.
Thank you so much!!!
Friendly staff. Beautiful piece of steak in the steak sandwich. Fries were very salty though.
Very glad that we ended up having lunch in here. Contemporary type looking bar with a quite good restaurant. Staff very attentive and friendly from start to finish. I liked that they give little bags to toddlers with all to be entertained while having us our meal. We got the baby octopus, good flavour and right texture. Then we got the salmon, crispy skin fantastic; got medium rare scotch fillet, good. A few drinks. And finally some mulled wine. All good. And nice view to Docklands. Really pleasent atmosphere.
GOOD CHOICE FOR A CASUAL DINNER ON THE WATERFRONT
The Woolshed is a large modern building on Harbour Esplanade just across from Marvel Stadium.
Easy walking distance from the CBD and there are several tram routes that pass by (including the number 35 City Circle).
There is a bar and casual eating area as well as a more formal dining area and an upstairs area that has amazing views across the city skyline.
We (two of us) arrived without a booking at about 6:30 pm and had no trouble getting a table in the more formal dining area on the ground floor. Service was very efficient and friendly. The tables are relatively well spaced and there is a variety of table sizes for different groups. In warmer weather the front windows of the restaurant fold away to create an al fresco section.
We decided to eat vegetarian this night and it was quite easy to select a range of dishes from the menu. They also offer gluten free options for some dishes.
We started with sparkling water and a glass of wine each. Entree was a delicious vegetable salad and chargrilled bread with dips.
For mains we shared a vegetable pasta and a zucchini and pea salad. Both were quite good.
We were too full to try the dessert menu :)
The restaurant filled quite quickly and when we left at about 8 pm it was buzzing with people.
People with mobility issues will be fine here as it is a very modern complex with level floors and easy access.
Nice place for evening drinks. Big and modern. Bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Outside areas were good.
Great views of the docks.
Good for early evening and prep dinner drinks before a night out in the Docklands.
Very close to southern Cross and trams.
When we walked in the door greeter couldnt find our booking. It took one of our team members to help her find it to get a seat.
Views and the atmosphere was great it took a while for the food to come out and the waitress struggled to smile.
We had a set menu and everyone seemed to be happy with there options. I had the lamb cigars or spring rolls and they were quite tasty. Steak for main was cooked perfectly with a nice sauce and mushroom with a side of roasted gsrlic and chive potatos. Dessert options i def wouldnt go past the pav.
Awesome venue! After their relaunch the venue is bigger and even more stunning!
Amazing food, drinks and service !
Perfect for functions, casual drinks , dinner ....... suits every occasion 👌 Highly recommended!
Good fun pub.
Live music, friendly welcoming staff, great location for a sunday session / after game pint. Yep they have guiness :)
Probs visit again when next in Melbourne and reccomend to others.

Great place for a drink with friends in the afternoon. The service is a touch slow but acceptable. Big screens great for watching the tennis. Easily accessible via the 70 tram.
