Review Cafe Andiamo - Melbourne

Faelyn Young
Prompt service on a busy Saturday - food was quite delicious and had good presentation. Hollandaise sauce was really unique - in a good way. Coffee was pretty average for Melbourne, but not bad. Overall a positive experience. Filled the spot for a day of shopping in the city ! Very good value for money.

👍 Wow! Absolutely LOVE Cafe Andiamo, the meals were delicious, the wines were exquisite and the desserts were something else - their tiramisu is incredible! Highly recommend, if you're in Melbourne head down "Degraves Lane"!

First try with friend but end up with not really good experience. Burger was very dry, both of us suggest that should add some sauce so that burger taste will much more better. Quite disappointed as chips not serving with any sauces. Ice chocolate taste alike milk only. After request waitress to add more syrup, the drink was better.

Focaccia was great, but we would recommend reducing the thickness of the bread. Burger was acceptable, but feel free to accept the following comments: - We felt that there was no need of double marking the buns, just with marking on the pan the inside face would be enough and the texture would improve. - Sticking the cheese to the bread is not always the best option, since it tends to dry out the bun. It would be ideally best placed in between meats. - The meat cook point was in between a smashed burger and a juicy one. We would recommend choosing one of them, and avoiding staying in the middle, offering a tasteless hamburger. Staff was super friendly!

A very nice cafe. The hot chocolate was delicious, and was decorated with chocolate running down the inside. The bacon and eggs were delicious but the toast could have been toasted for longer. It was situated in a little alley and was quite cute.

Super breakfast/brunch location recommended by my local friend. Ordered omelette and I like they used sourdough for toast. Unfortunately, it was not a suitable meal to eat on the go which I was intending to. Coffee was good too.

Located strategically on Degraves Street, Cafe Andiamo had on their menu a range of brunch and lunch meals. The eggs Benedict and coffee I ordered were quite decent, but nothing too outstanding. Service was pretty friendly.

One of the gems of Degraves St! Tasty breaky and very nice coffee to be had. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and meals came out pretty quickly given how busy it was!
Madeline Tran
The service was okay but we ordered a prosciutto pizza and seafood pasta, the pizza was limp, sauce bland, and pasta tastes just like oily water. I don’t mean to be so harsh but it was super overpriced for what you get and I will not go here again. Would recommend you head elsewhere.

Staff were VERY RUDE.

Cafe Andiamo lies in the heart of Degraves Street, filled with delicious smells, music and people - so the restaurant can get very crowded and noisy. The food variety is good and portions are very generous, but lacking in flavour. I had the linguini pollo avocado (chicken, pesto, avocado and cream sauce) which was pretty bland so I needed extra salt and chilli flakes.

3.8 out of 5.

This is an iconic Degraves Street cafe by now, I suppose. It’s well known and well regarded. It was mighty chilly mid morning in the Melbourne CBD, 6 degrees C with an evil breeze wafting in between the tall buildings. Coat, scarf and gloves weather. It was time to get refuge when I spotted Cafe Andiamo. It was lovely, warm and toasty inside. The compact cafe had a really nice buzz too. The coffee is very good here - top class in fact - and it warmed me up a treat and delighted my tastebuds. The menu looked good with the usual brekkie standards and numerous Italian style dishes. There’s plenty of choice here for everyone. The food coming out looked a little bit prosaic though but then again that might be me mistaking looks for substance. Service was quick, efficient and friendly.

This is a good solid Melbourne cafe is my overall impression. 😁

It’s delicious, but definitely not a real carbonara.
I tried the linguine carbonara and the taste was really good, the pasta was “al dente”. But let just say it wasn’t a carbonara, there wasn’t even a black pepper in there. But for a pasta, it was good
So many places to choose from on Degraves Street, and most have very similar menus. Andiamo won out as they had one table left outside, but it was a good choice regardless.
We both chose the lamb salad, and it was simple yet delicious. Not enough dressing initially, but that was quickly put right with olive oil & balsamic provided on the table.
The house Shiraz & garlic bread were also good
Tuna + Subay
Amazing food. Prompt, friendly and helpful service. Server's recommendation for coffee was great - my new favourite drink. Perfect place for a date. Will come back to try more dishes in the future. Dining area was slightly cramped but overall a great cafe/restaurant.

After a debacle at another cafe around the corner I saw this cafe and decided to give it a go.

The cafe was absolutely buzzing, really busy but despite that I was served immediately. Thanks to the owners for their outstanding service.

I ordered a strong skinny latte and I was charged $3.50 w no extra payment for an extra shot. Perfect.

My coffee had a good froth, it wasn’t too hot so I could drink it straight away and the flavour was really nice.

I didn’t have to wait long for my take away, maybe a minute.

OMGosh this is my new favourite coffee shop in the city at the moment. This place is definitely worth a visit! Enjoy your weekend everyone :)

It’s a very small and compact place. You can have a decent cup of flat white here, I won’t say it’s the best but it’s okay. My chai latte is a bit too milky and I rarely tasted any milk. Also there’s no croissant :( but I’m okay with that. The service is average. It took them forever to bring the 2 cups of coffee to the table though.

Terrible food after a long wait. We ordered a pasta and a grilled chicken and waited for 40 minutes... the cafe wasn’t too busy at the time as it was around 4pm everyone’s just having drinks.
After the long wait we were disappointed with defrosted fries, tasteless and overcook chicken, bland pasta, tasteless and just defrosted fries! Like that’s totally unacceptable. terrible food.
Sophie
Service was amazing ! Super quick and very friendly. Coffee is good, quite traditional and creamy. Breakfast menu has something for everyone.

Staff were very attentive with great customer service & the food was great! Smashed avo was perfect, the pomegranate was different but complimented well.

Cafe Andiamo was one of the first cafes I had explored when I started food blogging and I have not forgotten my experience since then!

Andiamo - this was an interesting combination which had scrambled eggs, tomato, sausage, prosciutto on thick pesto toast! I was a little skeptical at first with the pesto but once I mixed it up with the scrambled eggs and sausage, it tasted good and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Gigante - this was my favorite as it had everything I wanted (think of it as a big brekkie like the name suggests)! The picture itself tells you a whole new story!

If you’re after a traditional brekkie, Cafe Andiamo is the place to be!
Mas Mas
Luke warm coffee, soggy toast, watery scrambled eggs! First time we have not finished a breakfast in years. Very diappointing. Hope the laneways are not going the way $$$$$ macines and not taking from the Melb culture.
Ashpren
This is my favorite cafe in Melbourne. Although a bit pricey, the quality of the food is unbelievable! The pizza is to die for and feels like traditional Italian pizza.

among the famous “ coffee street “, the cafe andiamo is a typical coffee shop in Melbourne. The coffee there was good! I ordered one flat white and it’s strong and fragrance. The eggs Benedict was cooked beautifully, more seasoning maybe needed. Overall good place to have your brunch!

This laneway is soooooo Melbourne. I love the weathered look that a place acquires after years of usage. We chose this cafe as it looked like it has been there for a long time and the leather aprons that are worn by the waiter looked good on him. Very practical and stylist at the same time. Very cosy place with the tables very cleverly arranged to maximise the number and also provide diner privacy and access. We also ate here because if the art shop across the road.
I had an almond croissant which was just nice. My son had a avocado on bagel for breakfast. It came out very quickly. I have to admit we enjoyed the atmosphere here.
Jdon1807
Friendly and competent staff. Food and coffee is pleasing compared to many, but not amongst the very best. Unfortunately, and for obvious reasons, it’s a little too cramped. Getting in and out of your seat requires some coordination.

Train delays and altered services saw me Turn up to Flinders street in need of a quick coffee and breakfast option before I race around the loop in hope of making my 9am breakfast. Thought I would give Cafe Andiamo a crack as there were quite a few people lingering out the front. Turns out they were lingering because the coffee was taking quite a while to be made this morning. Not sure what the holdup was or why but I was growing impatient (I often do) .

The almond croissant was delicious but for all the wait the coffee was just ok. It was however hot like I like it so points there.

They serve Dimattina coffee here which I normally quite like.

I missed a train that was just leaving, caught the next one in 5 minutes and got to my meeting on time (Just)... welcome to Monday

Pretty disappointing given the location and initial impressions. Seated inside, menus given then waited and waited to the point I was ready to walk.... This despite staff clearing tables around us and many attempts to get someone's attention.

Baked beans were very average. Sauce too heavily reduced leaving an overpowering tomatoe paste "tinny" taste on the palate. Served with a thick slice of unbuttered toast... No butter on plate, had to ask for.... wow!!

Friends avo smash was almost gaucamole consistency, lacked flavour and texture. The addition of an undercooked poached egg saw the meal returned. The replacement meal was tabled without the thought of replacement cutlery.

Other friend had poached eggs, nicely cooked but served on a thick slice of unbuttered toast.... again had to request what should be a given.

Coffee was good but seemed to be timed to hit the table with the food, not prior.

There are many other better options in Degraves St and Centre Way.

Ordered the calamari for entree, this was nice and crispy with the aioli dip. Had chicken and veggies for the main. This was nothing special. Felt the gravy was bland and the flavours didn’t blend too well. Had Panacotta for dessert and this was delicious.

Dirty water glasses, brown lettuce in Caesar salad for dinner. Pretty crappy all round. This is melbourne guys the best food around. Wouldn’t have thought so tonight. To top it off the cook was busy playing with her hair. Again, just not good enough. The manager deducted the price of the salad from the bill which was kind!!

Went out to Degraves St on such a busy day and found a spot right in front of this cafe so we decided to try it out. The bagel and the eggs benedict that we ordered were okay, nothing interesting about it. However, the staffs were really nice and fast on taking & getting our orders. I always love an efficient service!

We stopped here for dinner on a Saturday night and I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has ever had good italian food.
The first warning sign was the fact you had little packets of pre ground pepper. All good italian offers cracked pepper at the table.
We ordered penne pasta with a basic tomato sauce and a honey mustard grilled chicken salad. The salad was delicious but for a $19 price it was quite small. The pasta was potentially the most bland dish I've ever paid for. The tomato sauce was watery and lacked flavour or basic seasoning.

But the worst part was when I saw a manger or owner grab the apron of another staff member for not listening to him. It was very aggressive to watch and made the night quite uncomfortable.
YesNoMelbourne
The place looked cute so went here for coffee
Waited a pretty long time for the coffee but then realised the coffee was designed as a swan which was cute
The coffee was runny to be honest but had lots of vanilla syrup which I like

The waiter didn’t understand what we were saying, he was saying he just came from
Columbia so he really couldn’t take orders but was a nice guy
Wouldn’t come here for food, all the food looked average

I've always loved the hustle and bustle of Degraves St, and have eaten at Andiamo plenty of times over the years.

Prices are a bit steep, but the portion sizes are generous so you can't complain for pizza/pasta between $20-25.

Good comfort italian food when you're looking to warm up on cold Melbourne day!

Special shout out to the pollo affumicato pizza, tender chicken atop of pesto and sun dried tomato - great combination!

Food: We visited for lunch and both order pasta dishes. The food is a little pricey, but is nice quality and the portions are fairly generous.

Service/Atmosphere: It obviously has the huge bonus of being on the iconic Degraves street, the epitome of Melbourne laneway dining. It offers a lively environment and a casual dining experience. Seating is a little cosy, but fine for a quick lunch. Service was very attentive and I was impressed with this.

Would I recommend it: I'm not a fan of Degraves street on the whole, as I always feel you are paying somewhat for the experience and less so for the food, however, of all the cafes and restaurants there, this is definitely one of the better ones. Service is probably the best you will find in that area and the food is enjoyable.

Came here for brunch , food was served on time and as expected with a pretty nice coffee. Pretty much met expectation considering the price for brunch. Obviously sitting outside in the laneway is a bonus. Tried their lunch menu as well. I would go for the brunch really:).

Only tried the desert and coffee which was fantastic, probably the best chocolate cake I've had in Aus. Only giving a 4.5 due to the fact we didn't try any of the main dishes. Great setting and service was fantastic. Will definitely return

A post-exam pick me up was greatly required after (what feels like years) neglecting my love of food and new dining experiences. Dropped by here during lunch time, and was seated quickly. Lovely great vibe in this street; I've been told it bears some similarity to Italy. Coffee was a winner, and the pasta was al dente. Simplistic, rustic food and gracious service by staff.
Thelordlam
Service was good however the food itself was pricey for what you got. Pizza was slightly smaller than a Dominos pizza with a thick tough base for 20 bucks. Pasta next to us looked better.
Sylvia's POV
Cozy cafe on busy Degraves Street with very friendly service. I had an avocado smashed with an added poached egg and a vanilla latte. The avocado was served on a white bagel. I would have preferred it to have been toasted slightly longer.
I would return to try some of the cakes.
Lilian Wong
The pollo funghi is spot on but the sauce is a little too watery me thinks. Chicken Parma is just ok. Service was quite fast though someone next to our table has a long wait on their food. I would say this place is just ok

First time visiting Degraves Lane - I enjoyed the busy alleyway and the brunch bustle. We went to Cafe Andiamo for some food and coffee; I had a Baked Beans Homemade and a Chai Latte. While the baked beans were pretty standard, it would have been nice to have some grained bread (rather than the white toast) and the chai was overwhelmingly sweet. I'd be happy to head back to the iconic Melbourne lane, but probably to try out other cafes.

Waiters were friendly. We were in a hurry. The food came quickly and was tasty. We only ordered Italian standards: matriciana and bolognese. Both were good.

The friendly service is what sets this cafe apart from others on Degraves Street. The waiters are warm and very welcoming, treating you like they know you. The coffee is good & there are a lot of delicious foods on the menu.

Penne Pollo Avocado was delish, garlic bread was thick and crisp, aswell as the flavoured coffees tasted relatively nice, although went cold decently quickly.
overall good meal and great service, may visit again if in the area.

I dine here infrequently but CafĂŠ Andiamo has yet to disappoint me over the last five years. I have tried their pizza, pasta and lasagna and all have been great, notably the Andiamo pasta (pesto pasta with mushrooms and white wine sauce if I recall correctly) from my most recent visit. Their coffee is also of fairly high standards. The location is convenient yet atmospheric, though it does get incredibly busy and packed at times. Overall I would recommend!
Alessandro Love Good Food
been here this morning with a couple of friends and we had breakfast. the food come out quickly really nice coffee is good as well, great service. The only problem no toilets in the premises they have to give you a key connected to an half tongs and walk out. Sorry not good enough.

Dishonest Pricing - I went to this cafe this morning to try the eggs Benedict which was advertised with ham, hollandaise and smoked salmon for $16 on the boards outside. After looking over the menu, I noticed a discrepancy between the price on the sidewalk board and the menu (showing $19). After asking the waitress she clarified that the menu sheet had the "real prices"?!?! She then went to confer with her manager and quickly changed the price on the board to the "real price". I also saw a couple other people have the same meal as us and was just wondering if they were aware the price of their food was going to increase between the table and the cash register! Overall the food was ok, but would not be going back again due to this as I dislike dishonest conduct in business. The photos attached the this post show the original "not real" price and the updated "real price"

My cousin from interstate always drags me to Cafe Andiamo whenever she's in Melbourne (at least three times a year) to get her coconut latte fix. These are a little more widespread these days but four or so years ago when she first discovered this tropical slant on her morning coffee not many places had them. So we've been coming here for years for both breakfast and dinner and while the food is nothing profound its always been enjoyable and the atmosphere on degraves st is pretty much unparalleled in the city and really gives you the Melbourne experience (particularly popular with tourists). On this occasion I was super tired read hungover so I doubled up on carbs with the fruit toast and a tomato and bocconcini bagel both of which were standard but very satisfying. Come for the laneway dining factor

Just not good. I used to come here here heaps and loved it, but today I returned after a year or so of not coming and it was disappointing from start to end.

I ordered the veg burger, and after 40 minutes wait it came, and I couldn't actually bite through it. The burger patty was so hard, like cardboard. I reckon it had been in the freezer for months. I said I couldn't get my teeth through it. They made me another one even though I said I didn't want another one. The second one, the patty was fine but the whole burger was bland. I ate it because I was starving.

Oh and I could get better chips in a Frankston fish and chip shop.

Never going back.

Cafe Andiamo gave me a poor experience from walking into the doors to finishing off my meal.

My waitress was terrible, in terms of her tone of voice to not knowing what I wanted to order (no matter how many times I pointed to the menu or repeated myself occasionally). If you are going to service a table, then ensure you are happy and reachable.

Food Wise: I ordered a Pomodoro Basilico in the Spaghetti Pasta. Portion size was average and was lacking the majority of flavours needed in Pasta.

Will not return, anytime soon.
Scott Anderson
We ordered fettuccini carbonara and chicken and avocado panini. Panini was a decent size and all the ingredients were of a good quality. The carbonara was very small serving size and for $19 i was very disappointed. All the food was under-seasoned. The coffee was one of the smallest and most expensive one seen on Melbourne. But it tasted good. Overall I was disappointed and wouldn't go back. I felt ripped off.
CoCo
Went there for a quick coffee with my 2.5 yo. I ordered a coffee while my son was having some homemade banana bread, the waiter had the nerve to come and tell me that eating food that's not bought from them is not allowed to be eaten at their table (I was sitting outside) and told me to put it away! How in the world was I supposed to explain that to my son!! I couldn't just pull the bread out of his hands, I just walked away!

We were near flinders street and wanted to eat nearby. Wasnt in a mood for queus and loud music. Walked past this restaurant around 7.30 on a wednesday night. It was almost filled up but there were seats and so we decided to give it a try. First impressions was that the restaurant was pretty cramped but not enough to bother me. I ordered the chicken avacado fettucine. I wasnt impressed with what i got. The cream seemed to have seperated from the oil. Eating it left a lingering oily taste that i couldn't get rid of. The pasta was a tad overcooked. My boyfriend ordered the tortellini mafiosa. This was definitely slightly above average. The sauce had a good balance to it. It didnt feel heavy and the pasta was al dente. I think in the end we were both eyeing this dish 😂 and neglected the other. A slightly above average dish + a below average dish gives the average rating. Service was pleasant but nothing else. Overall i wouldn't go back and looking at the reviews for the other restaurants on this street, they all seem to be pretty much simillar: mixed and inconsistent

This male Japanese waiter was so rude to us - when my partner says hey can we get the drinks menu, he tapped on my partner's shoulder and say don't call me that.

What is wrong with how we ordered from them? We were not being rude and this is such a normal way for Aussies to reach out to the waiters.

He was being such a sensitive prick and was rude to my partner. We were extremely shocked and disgusted by how he treated us as customers.
Kellygrace347
Carbonara and Mafiosa ordered; prompt service on a busy day, pasta was excellent, service with a smile, just a lovely place. Great people watching as well!
Rachel Heysen
Lovely Italian food which was sadly hindered by the dismal service received, the waitress didn't know what moscato was and questioned what type of pasta I wanted with my "spaghetti bolagnase" - a shame as the food was lovely.
Vegieface
Ordered: pomodoro basilico and funghi pasta, cake for dessert, and a mocha and soy latte.
Verdict: precisely what we were after, thoroughly enjoyed this place.
A friend and I decided we had very specific cravings - she wanted a creamy, saucey gnocchi, and I wanted a thick, creamy, basil and tomato gnocchi. We wandered down Degraves St, then spotted this menu. We gave it a go, and it answered both our prayers. Both dishes were exactly what we were after, and really, really hit the spot. It was just perfect.
We debated getting a slice of cake each, before deciding on a slice to share, which ended up being a good choice as the slice was massive! It was a delicious cake and between the two of us, we struggled to finish.
The hot beverages were fantastic. As well as the customer service.
Given the atmosphere and general feel of this place, I'd recommend it for intimate dinner dates.

Cafe Andiamo looked promising upon arrival. The restaurant was busy and the waiters were friendly. We were put in a table off by the corner which had a good view of the lane outside. We ordered a Caprese bruschetta as an entree. It was okay - white bread that was nothing special with thick slices of tomato, mozzarella and fresh basil. The bruschetta came out relatively quickly and we were looking forward to getting our mains. I ordered gnocchi with a basic Pomodoro and basil sauce, and my partner got gnocchi Amatriciana. We waited for at least 45 minutes to get our mains. It seemed that we were simply forgotten about. There were people who walked into the restaurant 20 minutes after we got the entree and had already received and finished their mains. Our waiter checked on us twice and told us our mains were coming. They did come, after 45 minutes of waiting, and they weren't really worth the wait. My Pomodoro and basil sauce was full of dry oregano - not sure where the basil came from. The gnocchi to sauce ratio in both our dishes was awful as they skimped on the gnocchi. The flavour of the sauces was okay but nothing I would come back for. Our waiter was lovely and it wasn't his fault, but it was very frustrating to wait so long, especially when we had a view of the kitchen, which showed that the chefs weren't in a particular hurry to get any dishes out, really. We left hungry and annoyed. Wouldn't come back.

Great cafe in the heart of the CBD , Melbourne's Laneway and coffee culture combine in one location. Great place for a quick coffee and / or something more substantial

The last place I had to visit to complete my Degraves St cafe eating adventure is CafÊ Andiamo. Their breakfast menu finishes at 11:50am, so I had to order off the lunch menu instead. . Spaghetti Bolognese ($16.90)The sauce had a few tomato chunks and moderate amount of mince, with a slightly more sour taste. Overall it was decent spaghetti bolognese, but I would rather save $6.90 ordering the same dish at Cafe Del Corso which is just as close to work.

The lemon meringue pie was the best I've ever had. It was to die for. The service was lacking though they were very unattentive even though they were very quiet when I was there

Very cosy place - outdoor heaters were perfection on a cold Melb morning. Soup of the day was delicous (bacon & potato), pizza & foccacia were just as good. Prices were good, servings were large & service was on point.

The food was really delicious! However when we first arrived the guy who greeted us didn't make us feel welcome. Then we were served by a lady who was so friendly and helpful, it made us feel better.

After a rather earlier lunch, my companion decided that he ought to fit in a second lunch, especially due to his unfulfilled love of Italian food, which had been sadly neglected during our trip. As such, he jumped at the first opportunity we saw, which was Cafe Andiamo, situated along Degraves Street, which was a place highly recommended by burger connoisseur.
Tessa Peach
The Greek meatballs here were wonderful! Juicy and fresh and generous with thick homemade tomato sauce and Turkish bread! Filling and warm :) my friends pasta dishes also looked yummy and homemade, not bulk produced but made with care :)

I've been to this place multiple times and for some reason it sums up a quintessential Melbourne laneway resto experience. Easy to stumble into on busy Sunday brunch hours. The food choices are varied & so far everything I've tried has been fairly decent. Staff are very accommodating and super friendly. I'd defo reco this to anyone who happens to be along Degraves St.

Ordered a gnocchi pollo avocado and my friend ordered mushroom risotto. It was the smallest portion of pasta I have seen and cost us $24!!! The service was slack and the waitresses kept dropping cutlery and glasses. It took us ages to be seated and staff kept walking past us.
Andrew Robertson
Horrible lunch time focaccia - bread was way too thick, and there was nothing in the middle - I ordered a pork filling - couldn't taste anything - for $15 it was a disgrace - won't be coming back

Busy laneway cafe with lot of friendly staff.
Flat white was very creamy.
Brioche buns by noisette, bacon, fried egg and mozzarella was excellent, love it😚
Home made baked beans on thick white toast with bacon on the side was excellent.
Quick to grab a spot for lunch on a Sunday. Ordered some pizzas to share which were fresh and delicious. Would recommend for a spot of lunch.

Located at the busy hallway of D'Graves in Melbourne. Food ✔️✔️✔️. Location ✔️✔️✔️. Customer experience ✔️✔️✔️. I was only in Melbourne for 2 days and they've my choice to have breakfast! The food is just amaZing, sooo tasty! They herbs and meat are all fresh and served hot. Well done!

CafĂŠ Andiamo is a bustling cafĂŠ hidden in Degraves St. Although situated with the depths of an iconic Melbourne landmark, the amatriciana was unpleasant. It was over seasoned and too salty. The waiters were also clumsy and inattentive. However, the outdoor setting was quite pleasant with a comfortable breeze.
Khamsin_17
Wow, the pollo avocado was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere of the laneway only adds to this restaurants beauty. Probably one of the better restaurants in the laneway.

Service was quick and easy, which is surprising for a place that seems like it should be more chaotic. Would definitely recommend this place!
Blueberrypie
A cozy cafe tucked away in degraves st. Have been here a number of times over the last year or two and have been happy with the food and price. However the price seem to have gone up. The service has dropped a bit and portions appear to be smaller. The food still tastes good though.
Food Comatose
I adore the cultured, bustling Degraves street - it's the perfect representation of Melbourne. CafĂŠ Andiamo is a restaurant that provides quality Italian food and service and is one of my top picks on Degraves. I'm always so impressed with the careful, unique presentation of the food and friendly staff. The coffee is excellent and I highly recommend the Affogato (pictured). The presentation is too cute!

Had the chicken parma here and it was very delicious :) The salad was a bit bland without dressing, but who really cares about salad when the parma and chips are the stars of the show. The waitress was very lovely and attentive despite being exceptionally busy with all the customers. I'll happily come back again.

So many Cafes to choose from but I'm so happy we ended up at Cafe Andiamo ! I had the eggs benedict with smoke ham and my god ! AMAZING ! It's a very busy lane way but it has great atmosphere. Coffee was great according to my fiancé. When we come back to Melbourne, we will definitely be back ! ❤️
Walter Hoo
Terrible service!
A waiter told us to wait 10minutes for lunch. When we were ready, a waitress came to tell us they were not ready. We had to wait for more than 30 min. Her attitude was extremely terrible. I have never met such terrible service before!!!!!
Mark Strathmore
Nice setting in Degraves street with lots of hustle and bustle. Decent coffee, but for me the standout is definitely the cheesecake! Several to choose from and always good.
Aviv Mintz
I had the eggs and mushroom on thick toast - the Eggs were cooked to perfection, and the coffee was amazing! Will definitely come here for breakfast again.
Jo
I've had the steak here twice and it's been delicious - tender and tasty. But for me it's the only reason I'd go back. The interior is cramped and noisy even when mostly empty, and the smoking in the outdoor area means that's not even an option.
TravellingFoodie
Nice funghi pasta, not exquisite though. Good for tourists who need a meal with a view, and don't necessarily return for the food. With a location like this it's popular enough to be always crowded.
David Ensor
Very average "tourist" food that was quite tasteless - a missed opportunity in a great well known Melbourne lane. Service wasn't the greatest but bearable

Without fail, I always go the extra distance to get coffee from Cafe Andiamo. Rain or shine, the coffee is always spot on. Whether you're a soy drinker, particular about strong or weak, they always get it right. It's the go-to-cafe for your coffee fix in the city. It's located in the bustling little street on Degraves St, just off Flinders St Station where you can order literally at its entrance or have it inside with their cosy atmosphere. I've yet to taste a coffee that has been better than it is at Cafe Andiamo.

Decided to eat in here with my family today, as soon as we walked in we were asked to take a seat this proved to be difficult considering there was 5 off us. I had to approach someone and ask for a menu he then told me he would get me one and then took about 5 minutes. My sister who has allergies and can only eat limited foods was told she couldnt be eating her salad in there, the asian lady although was very polite and gave her a bowl and also joined some tables for us, the girl who took our order was straight out rude, i dont see why it was a big deal if 1 of us bought food from somewhere else if the other 4 were dining in, the food was good and all, i just can not beleive how impolite our waitress was as we were leaving my sister was standing infront of a fridge the waitress was trying to get into, i turned to see her rolling her eyes, its not hard to say excuse me and keep in mind a smile goes a long way!

This is a must-go restaurant in Melbourne. Situated in Degraves street, it's a cute cosy venue with delicious Italian and modern Australian menus available until late despite its name being a cafĂŠ. So far, I have tried about seven different menus and they were all amazing. It's a shame that they have recently gotten rid of one of my favourite, pizza pescatore but they have other great dishes and daily specials to make up for it. I would highly recommend sitting outside even on cold nights they have the heaters warming you up. Lastly, they have the best Tiramisu cake in the world, large enough to feed three people!

We ate here tonight after shopping in the city we thought it would be to late to eat by the time we drive home and get changed so we stopped here.

We had Garlic foccacia for entre and 2 different pasta's for main which were nice and cooked well.

Dessert tira mi su and 2 cappucino's ..

We also had 2 glasses of wine and I had a Stella Artois ..

All this for $88 is pretty damm good value and sitting under an outdoor heated area with a cosy freindly atmosphere..

Value for money,we will return that's for sure...

Don't go here
Bad service
Bad food
Bad
Bad
Bad
Waited nearly an hour for a burnt focaccia which was half empty and a burnt burger with hardly any chips!
A cosy environment (very limited seating) with a nice atmosphere and welcoming staff. While the food looks good, the taste is mediocre. The pork & fennel pizza was particularly underwhelming - it lacked flavour and the base was stiff and dry. Dishes are otherwise similarly priced with other restaurants in the area.

Service was excellent especially given how busy they were. Coffee was also very good. Food was ok but not great. Reasonable value too.

Awful service, the waitress forgot about us many times and was very clumsy. The antipasto platter we ordered was extremely bland and looked cheap, including an inedible slice of 'frittata'. On an antipasto platter, what? Why?
The pizza I ordered was also very bland and poorly made. My dad ordered a lamb salad which looked horrible, a big chunk of lamb slammed on top of some lettuce.
All in all the food is very overpriced for what it is: bland, thoughtless trash.

...I felt like something crunchy as oddly as that sounds. I got myself a chicken parmigiana focaccia. It was good but lacked sauce...

They were served simply, with strawberries and vanilla ice cream, and not drowning in any syrup thank goodness.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Situated within the iconic Degraves Lane, is a great row of cafes which are the ideal spot for breakfast on the weekends. On my last morning in Melbourne with my girlfriends Carly and Liz, we found ourselves wandering down this strip, trying desperately to find a table in this street before finally spotting an opening at Cafe Andiamo. It's hard to tell if the people here are locals or tourists, but I think the answer is a mix of both. We sit down and peruse the menu - the girls enjoying coffee as I order an orange juice like always. Unfortunately it's bottled juice not fresh, which I think should have told me a lot about what was about to come with this meal. French toast Liz settles on the French Toast with Maple Syrup and Fresh Strawberries. It is HUGE. The colouring is a bright yellow, the giant slabs of toast golden and way too thick when trying to portion out the syrup and strawberries with each bite. It turns out to be a much too big serving and she gives up about halfway through

...the pesto toast from Cafe Andiamo was pretty good! You could taste the Parmesan and there was a good crunch coming from the pine nuts. The spread of pesto was generous unlike some places that give you a thin and skimpy layer over the toast. I was so tempted to get another slice of pesto toast but I thought twice about how full I was and resisted with all my will power.
The World Loves Melbourne
Cafe Andiamo is a great little cafe in iconic Degraves Street with fast and friendly service and not without excellent ambience. Come inside this cafe and relax at one of several tables and watch the eclectic atmosphere of Degraves Street roll by. Or sit out at a table outdoors in Degraves and get amongst the action. Tables here can be a bit closer together but it's a great spot to dine.

Pasta was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was rich and flavourful. It was creamy, but not too heavy. Delicious

Located strategically on Degraves Street, Cafe Andiamo had on their menu a range of brunch and lunch meals. The eggs Benedict and coffee I ordered were quite decent, but nothing too outstanding. Service was pretty friendly.

Good coffee, extremely average food. Leave it for the tourists.

The Parpadelle Arabiatta came with thick pasta ribbons with salami, onion, capsicum, garlic, chilli and pomodoro sauce. Very average! It was the same with the Chicken Salad of mixed salad, cucumber, Spanish onion, roasted capsicum, sundried tomato with honey mustard dressing.
Fussy Eater
Ordered the polo advocado which was very tasty and filling. Service was however non existant and took along time to order a second drink! After 15 mins I gave up, finished my food and then went in search of my bill.
Great food, nice location but the rest is all factory driven

Amazing. I am from Brisbane and my partner and I thought the service and food was amazing !! Didn't have to wait long at all to be served and food brought out , especially since it was a Saturday morning and packed . Will be back next time down there :)

Great location, bad food. My friend and I just randomly chose a place to eat at the Degraves Lane and we chose this place because it was the only place that has pizza, but dear oh dear, will never return. I really wished I had just bought dominos pizza because their pizza is so bland. Their salad is very bad, neither me nor my friend ate it.
