One of my favourite places to eat. My boyfriend and I visited for a week in Melbourne and your restaurant stood out as being the best vegan place we ate at on our travels. There is nothing I can fault about food, service, decor, anything really. You have amazing food and it's all vegan/vegetarian!!! Would highly recommend to anyone.
A special sanctuary in the heart of the city. A place to nourish and replenish body mind and soul. Gopals is my favourite place to lunch in the CBD whenever I am staying in Melbourne. The daily fare is wholesome and sattvic and includes an array of colourful fresh salads and tasty vegetarian and vegan curries. Do leave room for the heavenly desserts!
My favourite place to eat. Best food and staff are so beautiful xoxo
Really tasty vegan food and very nice people serving, great prices and nice atmosphere. Plus the cheesecake is the best I've tasted
Delicious warm vegan curry !!! The best ! Warm people too! They also do the best catering for your parties or event.
Yum!!! I'm not a "regular" vegetarian, but took my friends out for a meal here to try out some vegetarian dining. We absolutely LOVED the flavours and variety of dishes available. Feeling full and healthy.

Awesome place the staff were really friendly and easy to talk to and the bloke even helped us as we wanted to try something different with recommendations definately a new favourite and i will definately be back real soon <3 top effort!!
One of the best place for great vegetarian food. Absolutely loved it
I just had a pic of my empty plate after eating at Gopals turn up in my newsfeed memories, and yes... What lovely memories... When I lived in Melbourne, this was a staple for me... Wonderfully colourful healthful deliciousness ... I miss you Gopals, do you deliver to Samoa!?...
Fabulous vegan lunch today, thank you! Such good value and the curries were divine <3
One of the best vegetarian place I have tried in Melbourne. Great taste and large portion. Would definitely recommend to check it out.
Gopals is just AMAZING. Many options everyday, tasty as heaven and no need to spend a fortune. Average price for a full menu including drink it's around $12. Healthy options and home of many vegetarians who wander everyday in CBD.
At this point I've tried pretty much everything but the spinach pie it's a must try.

It was lovely to return to Gopals and get my hippy back on. Although the place has changed a little, the essence of being a brilliant Vegetarian / Vegan restaurant is still evident.
Some may have to look hard for the entrance as it's just a door. Located in the heart of Melbourne for nearly 40 years and now owned and run by the International Society of Krishna Coonsciousness, this is a must visit restaurant whether you are into vego food or not.
There are a number of cruelty free options on the meat-free menu along with roti, rice and excellent refreshments and desserts. Starting at around $9.50 for two hot dishes and two salads with rice - it's one of the most affordable meals around - and the portion sizes are huge. The night I went there was a lasagne but they also have dishes from around the world. With fresh ingredients and a smile from the lovely staff, this place to me is heaven.
No TV in this place. Just pleasant environment with windows open and fresh air coming in.
You should book ahead because this place does get busy and has it's regulars.
You can also book functions here which is something I should consider with an upcoming birthday.
We also cater for your function, large or small.
Not wheelchair friendly - long set of steep stairs to the restaurant. Toilets on site. Kid friendly. No wifi (well at least I don't think so because I was enjoying my meal and talking to people rather than being on my phone.
Vegan/vegetarian set (from $9.50)
⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴This Indian restaurant serves substantial, affordable #vegan or #vegetarian meals in Melbourne central. The basic not so hungry set comes with rice and choice of 2 salads and 2 veggies for $9.50. Add $2.40 for a dessert and drink and $1 more for soup. The food was good but not great, having the aroma of nice Indian spices but the flavours were somewhat muted (and the curry a bit diluted). Not sure if this was intentional to be a more healthy option but we wished for richer taste. The $3.50 samosa was served hot and had a nice crisp crust. It was packed full with a yummy potato mix that once again, could have been tastier

Hands down the best place for vegan food prepared with love in Melbourne. Everyone I know loves Gopals. Amazing value. Beautiful food and vibe.
Pretty good! Got the vegan platter and boy was it a lotta food. The curries were very tasty. Very filling and excellent value for money. The dessert and mango lassi was especially delicious. Really good for students or if you’re on a tight budget. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.
Simple vegetarian restaurant tucked away up the stairs on Swanston St.
They have some good meal options, pocket-friendly and filling.
Lovely staff as well.
This one is for the health conscious ones. Healthy, tasty Indian vegetarian fare. Try their super delicious salads and the halwa with custard. I always go for the feast plate and suggest that only if you are super hungry!
Consistenly good, wholesome vegan eats. It's the best place to get filled up on a budget. While other Hare Krishna places offer standard plates of Dahl and rice, the offerings at Gopal's are slighly more diverse, with options like veg koftas, vegan lasagna, peanut butter curries and a range of fresh salads. Visit if you're looking for a cheap, no-frills dinner in the CBD that meets all nutritional needs.
First time having a vegan meal and tasted okay.. Was quite surprised to find this place along the busy Swanston street.. We came here after work and to my surprise it was pretty busy.. Choices were decent given it was vegan dishes..
World Vegan day(14th Oct)in Melbourne
I can't attend this time, instead of that I am had Vegan Meal. Nice to get vegan meal here, price range is afforable/located in swanston street/ various curry and salad you can choose to have.
If food served more hot temperature, I would be enjoyed more.

Hidden away is a homely canteen full of an ever changing vegetarian/vegan menu. Gopal’s pride themselves in their curries and I decided to give them a shot using the Groupon voucher.
The voucher gave us 2 curries and 2 salads with rice each, and I tried heir red kidney bean curry, kafta ball curry, chickpea salad and some sort of pasta with spinach and broccoli salad.
The serving was BEYOND generous and the curries were absolutely delicious and aromatic. The salads brought freshness that really balanced out the meal. I’m surprised the “not so hungry” meal is so so big and all for $9.50! (Half price using Groupon).
The man who served us was very friendly and patient in explaining what we can order and what each dish contained. Will definitely come back during uni breaks for this cheap feast!!!!
Yummy nice vegan meal. I tried the 'not so hungry' meal which includes 2 curries, 2 salads, and some rice. The portion was quite large and the salad, especially the tahini dressing was so good! I'm not a fan of salad but salads here really worth a try. Not so busy during dinner time with a chill vibe. Many people seem like coming to this place very often and enjoy the meal here. Staffs were friendly and wouldn't mind a short chat:) Highly recommended even though you're not a vegetarian!
I finally took a trip there tonight. I hope I’d have made it earlier. The food was great and exactly what you’d expect in a restaurant like that. The serves were almost too generous for me. I hardly leave leftovers (Ethical reasons) but for future reference, I’ll make sure to remind them to give me small portions. Also I loved my roti bread 👍🏾. More chilli options but I’m guessing the clientele base can’t tolerate the seasoning well 😂.
Reasonable n generous amount of tasty food! Feast plate was more than filling for 1 Person. All cold Deserts are worth a tasting. Overall great experience n good food
So lovely and nice for a GREAT price. Like ridiculously cheap and filling :) My friend got the vegetable kofta which I tried and I highly recommend! Also the beetroot salad and Asian slaw are very refreshing :) Not huge on rice so asked not to get it and they were nice enough to take the price down to $9 even though I was happy to pay the full amount ☺️ Keen to try some deserts next time!
Conveniently located on the doorstep of bustling Swanston St, this is one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Melbourne!
Ordered:
🍛 Not so hungry (v): rice, 2 veggies and 2 salads ($9.50)
Review:
After walking into the door-wide entrance of the building and up some long steps, you're greeted with a step down platform and a large selection of food.
It's a casual buffet where you can pick between vegetarian and vegan dishes to go on your plate.
Although it's not the most beautifully presented meal, for the price and the sustenance it's worth dropping by if you want budget friendly and filling food!
There were plenty of tourists and people eating alone - so wouldn't recommend it for big groups of people.
Came here twice for lunch and will keep coming.
They're so generous and tasty.
I'm not a vegetarian but I love this place so damn much. But remember to come earlier in lunchtime for avoiding a long queue.
Took my non vegan mates here and we had a GREAT time. Such chill vibes and delicious food and lovely staff. very good value for money. Great place to go if you want to write some poetry
Found Gopal’s while looking up MELBOURNE’S top rated Indian restaurants on Zomato. Decided to head in for lunch before an afternoon meeting in the office. Guys.... THIS PLACE Rocks!!! It’s only $9.50 for a generous full plate of 2 vegetable curries of your choice (there were 6 to choose from) AND 2 salads of your choice (again there were 6 to chose from). You can choose tahini or French dressing. There are chilli 🌶 flakes, cold filtered water.... give this place a go. It’s not just for vegetarians and vegans it’s for everybody! 👍👍
Heaps and heaps of food but it doesn't seem so bad since it's vegetarian so it must be healthy (right????) and such peaceful quietness for a busy place.
Food wise it was okay, i guess couldnt expect much of vegetarian food with this price, but m giving her (the waitress) extra points on being so nice and patient. I saw her serving a very troublesome customer that asked so many question and end up asking her things thats not on the menu, she patiently explain to her one by one even though it was already written on the bain marie, and also end up explaining the ingredients when she asked. Honestly If i was her, i wont be so patient with this kind of customer, it was just too much as this is a place where u serve 7-12Aud/potion, oh please! Ill come back next time to try their other food, even though i know it wont be that good.
This is a terrific way to explore fresh fragrant fabulous curries on a low budget. And they have a kick. Delicious. I might be picky but surely salads could be served on a separate plate. Otherwise it’s perfect.
Great cheap vegetarian. $9.90 will get you 2 curries, 2 salads & rice which is super filling & delicious. Ticks all the boxes in terms of getting the right amount of nutrition on your plate with plenty of fibre, vitimins, iron + you get the flavor. Nice to see the peanut curry had a bit of heat. I have noticed staff could use better hygiene practices in regard to coughing etc.
Very tasty vegetarian food. Fresh salads and meal deals. I always enjoy coming here. The best vegetarian restaurant i know.
Great value too.
There is something about this place. The Ambience is really soothing, and so is the food. I had a combo meal for $12 which had 2 veggies, 2 salads , a bread, desert n a drink. I must say it is very economical. Good experience
Not being a vegetarian shouldn’t discourage you from coming to Gopals for a pretty damn substantial feed for a very reasonable price. You can get three courses of vegetarian/ vegan food for around $10-$12. I’m a fan of most of the curries which seems to be varied each time I’ve visited. My main focus on coming here though is for sweet Kesari semonlina pudding. To some this may sound too stodgy to even be considered but I love the stuff (froth for it even) and have often tried to secure better elsewhere but have never found as good a source. Give it a try if you are good with that style of dessert... you won’t be disappointed.

I always come here for a good filling meal. The staff are overly generous with the portions (not a bad thing i guess). Definitely love the lasagna and the apple and mint drink is sooo refreshing
Portion size matters, and the "not so hungry" combo hits the spot for me every time. You get lots of curry and salad, for a very reasonable price. It's a bit hectic downstairs on Swanston St, but the upstairs seating arrangement is ergonomic.
Beautiful, fresh and tasty food. Love the chickpea kofta and tofu with delicious and fresh salad. Service is always friendly and cheerful. Prices are cheap too.
Great place for vegans and vegetarians. This place gets a bit busy during lunch time. The items at the counter change everyday. Its kind of a fusion cuisine and the flavors are great.
Very cosy place with good food. I'm not vegetarian but still enjoyed the meal. Portion was quite generous and the price was well worth it. Would go back again!
Gopal's is a quick and easy lunch or dinner option for vegans and vegetarians located in the heart of the CBD.
Service is swift and the price is right, with a vegan platter filling your belly for under $15 including a dessert and drink.
I always go for the koftas and the beetroot salad with tahini dressing.
The mint juice is also a refreshing addition. Last time I went they also had warm chai as an option if that's more your thing. A solid 4/5.
I've been this place a few times now and the food amazes me each time. Before I tried gopals I never tried vegan/vegetarian food because I thought it would have no flavour but the food At gopals is full of flavour and is bloody delicious. They have a range of food from pie to curries and they are all yummy. The atmosphere and vibe is very nice and relaxing and you feel very welcome there. The staff are very nice and helpful as well. This place stands out and is my favourite place to go for a good, cheap meal. I would also like to say the food is very light and makes you feel good. When you are full it's a good full. Any other food I eat it makes me feel very bloated and tired but gopals food makes me feel amazing. I am definitely coming back and would recommend this place to anyone. Don't be afraid to try vegan/vegetarian food because it's yummy!! 5/5 stars!!
Huge portions, cheap, filling and absolutely delicious with a relaxed and quiet relaxed atmosphere (welcome from the hustle and bustle of Swanson st!) Chai tea and coconut balls are to die for. I love this place and keep coming back.
my favourite place in the world. healthy and hearty meal that always satisfies. nice salad, delicious curry looking out onto swanston so CHEAP
Located in the heart of Melbourne, Gopals Restaurant serves a wide range of vegetarian and vegan cuisine.
The interior is spacious, but has limited seating available. The meals are pre-made and served to request from a bain marie.
Overall, Gopals is great for a cheap vegetarian feed, thats quite filling as well. The other options looked really good, so perhaps ordering ala carte might be a better option in the future.
Check out the review of Gopal's Vegetarian in the blog post below.
One of my most favourite. Quality for the price. Their lasagna is to drool over. I brought over a friend here and she is a fan too now. Hope to visit soon again.
Food was very tasty and the portions are huge! I had the not so hungry plate which was enormous with two curries, two salads and rice. I particularly liked the chickpeas as they weren't blow your head off hot, the coconut curry was also great and had a nice variety of veggies in it too.Awesome value for money, I will have to try the soup and desert next time. Only complaint was the stairs as it's a bit of a slog to get up there if you have bad knees lol, but all in all a great experience, would recommend.
Vegan food with all the sides and gravies/curries were good but the rice was not cooked properly and the salads were not fresh. Will try again next time. This is a casual mix of North & South Indian cuisine in Vegan mode by ISKON.
Will visit again.
I ordered a takeaway from here on a whim as I was Impressed by the varied menu and vegan options. The food was stunning. So much flavor, healthy, great quality and generously priced. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best places in melboune CBD if you are looking for a pure vegetarian(No onion is mixed in the food) restaurant that too on a very nominal price. They generally provide different types of food combos having salad, curry rice, bread and drinks.
Generally very crowded during office lunch breaks and at the time of dinner during weekends. Good place to take hygiene and healthy meal
Ambiance: 4/5
Food: 4/5
Staff: 4/5
Value for money: 4.5/5
Tried this out as my friend is a vegetarian. What can I say...best value for money ever. I had the not so hungry platter- 2 salads and 2 curries. I had the quinoa salad, bean sprout salad, chickpea curry and the veggie ball. Pretty tasty.
My friend had the vegan platter which comprised of soup, 2 curries, 2 salads, a drink and dessert.
The both of us were pretty full for a dinner that cost us just 23 dollars. What a bargain for a healthy meal in town!!
Great salads, curries etc are alright, sticky date pudding is bad. Would return to try again since its pretty cheap, vegan platter includes 2 salad, 2 veg, dessert and drink for approx 12 bucks. Wanna try a diff dessert and diff veggies/curry.
Solo lunch but with delicious food it makes for a great company. Had a medley of all the salads on offer which in the end turned out to be like a feast on a plate.
A good option for pure vegetarian foodies!
The food is not at all spicy but rich in taste. The health factor is added by the option of salads, which you get a good variety to choose from.
The delicious desert is an added bonus!
The ambience is quite subtle and simple, but beautiful.
I had ordered a veg meal which included rice with two curries (kidney beans & kofta), two salads and a desert (crumbled apple).
Great food with a nice atmosphere. We ordered the 'Not so hungry' set which was filling do dont be deceived, they are generous. My partner and I enjoyed the meal and are keen to come back to try more such as the lasagna.
I wanted to love Gopals. I really did. For ages, my friends raved about their curries, their rice, their korma balls, their cheap prices... and more and more I anticipated going there myself.
And, well, it wasn't that much a letdown, not really. I guess I just expected a little more. But first, the positives: their bean croquettes were really tasty, the perfect balance of veggie flavour and spices, and not overbearingly oily. The coconut curry sauce I had with my rice was quite flavoursome, too. The rice itself, however, was too dry for my tastes. Perhaps I had a bad batch, or maybe it was the nature of the kind of rice they use... but, yeah. Really dry. Which was disappointing as curry and rice only taste great together when the rice has reasonable moisture. The same goes to the korma curry ball; again, really dry.
Other than that, Gopals has a pleasant atmosphere (I suggest sitting on the level above the kitchen), and extensive vegan options, which is handy when you're a vegan out in the CBD (like me!)
Hidden away in the hustle and bustle of Swanston Street, this place is a gem. A nice little selection of fresh and healthy cruelty free options to be found. I always love the vegan Koftas and quinoa salad with tahini. Seriously cheap and filling eats, heaps of space to eat and lovely staff!
I chose 'Not so hungry' option which is the cheapest with 2 veg curry and 2 salads. Well, I still couldn't finish it at the end since portion was large!! Great healthy food. I will come back and try new food again~ (They play music from temple though.. made me little bit scared)
I have been here many times, Satisfying food every time, filling up my tummy. This place has made vegetarianism easy for me to get into. I skip accross town frequently to come here and I keep coming back, has a decent bang for your buck.
A fantastic low-key vegetarian restaurant tucked away in the CBD!
Pros
- fantastic range of vegan food
- warm, friendly staff
- lovely atmosphere
- very reasonably priced
- a variety of options changed regularly
Cons
- none!
I grew up with this lifestyle cuisine, called Sattvic or pure. Keep going back. Adelaide has one too, called Govinda's. Would say, for its quality, freshness and care in cooking, very pleasing.
Fast and delicious! You order ready-made food at the counter. Just what I needed. I had the spinach pie and two salads, but they have menus for the very hungry and not so hungry.
One of my fav vegetarian places in the CBD. Hidden upstairs away from the busy city it serves wholesome fresh tasty and healthy meals at a great price
I've been going to Gopal's for 10 years now. It's one of the friendliest and most affordable vegetarian eateries in the CBD. The staff are always helpful and friendly and the food is always tasty and cruelty free! Definitely worth a look!
Yet another vegetarian place! Quite a streak for me. This place is clean and has a calm atmosphere. Huge quantities for the meals. Lots of choice. Lots of salad to accompany the curries. I would come here only if you are really hungry as the servings are just huge! If you just want the rice or naan with one or two curries you can ask for it and is really cheap. Just not explicit on the menu.
Delicious Vegetarian food. Not a bad variety. Not too oily or heavy. Very generous serving for the Vegan feast. Definitely will satiate your hunger. Friendly staff! Will be coming back!
Some of the healthiest Indian in town! Cheap, generous servings at about $9-15ish for the mixed plates. Great for those who are new to South Asian cuisine as the flavours aren't too in your face. A haven for vegies and vegans, as well as those wanting to try meatless food.
There are so many amazing things about Gopal's that I don't even know where to start. Go and see for yourself and you won't be disappointed, vegetarian or not!
Wow what a great vego find in Melb! Cheap and great food! Have had the $9.50 2 salads/2 curries twice! Screw the expensive crap restaurants that try and serve vego, just eat here!!!
Gopal has gone through a renovation recently. The place looks fresh and the food as always nicely cooked and done with dedication. Love the desserts and salads. The main dishes are generous so you will be satisfied. Enjoyable and familiar ambience. Great place!
I've come here a few times, mostly for takeaway. The salads are cheap and generally quite good, but they can be a little oily at times. I've also tried their lentil soup and date slice, which were both very delicious and filling.
Guaranteed a cheerful and peaceful vegetarian or vegan meal at this establishment. The curries of the day are always tasty and the salad and the halva with custard is delicious. Keep it up team
I want to cry from the happiness I feel for discovering this place. Just like everyone else has said, it's cheap, big and absolutely DELICIOUS!! My new go-to, going to be hard wanting to go anywhere else to eat in the city
Stumbled across this hidden gem and it is now one of my favourites for a clean, nutritious, quick, tasty meal. Tasty vegan/veggo who would have thought! As you walk up the stairs and hear the hari krishna music you feel calmer and as if you're being transported to another world. The mixed plates are generous, well priced and apparently they use whatever's fresh and seasonal. Beautiful selection of salads, I had the beetroot and quinoa and for my main rice with lentils, chickpea and kidney bean curry. For $15 I got this massive plate of food with soup, naan, drink (i like vegan chai or apple wheatgrass) and dessert. Everyone here is so warm, it's delicious and satisfying and changes your perception of what vegan/vegetarian food is. Highly recommended.
Love love love. Please do yourself a favour and go here. Being a vegetarian i'm always on the lookout for veg cafes and restaurants and happened to stumble upon this gem around lunch time one day, lucky me! The food was great, the staff were so friendly, and the prices were so reasonable and so worth every cent. I payed $9 for rice, two curries and two salads (of your choice) and my plate was heaping with food, they called it the "not so hungry meal." When i walked in there was music and beautiful art on the walls, while the upstairs is quaint and overall a really nice casual place to sit down and eat.
One of my favourite places to grab a hearty and nutiritous lunch or dinner in the city that's friendly on the wallet. Vegetarian lasagne? Vegan shephards pie? Yes please. I'm not vego or vegan, but there's something about the food here that has me coming back again and again. This place is my go-to when I feel like an upscale change from Crossways, plus the desserts are all to die for!
This place is amazing! First time there and the guy behind the counter was understanding and very kind. Food is tasty and price is very cheap. I had the vegan platter of rice, two veggies, two salads, a drink and desert for $11.50! It's well hidden and environment is very pleasant. Will be back again
This place has such a nice, relaxing atmosphere. The food is healthy and great value for the price. They could do with refurbishment & new furniture/appliances.
Great place for a quick bite! Large servings and cheap prices :) Not a really a 'sit down' place - but good if you are doing errands in the city or on a lunch break
Delicious, Generous, Clean, Friendly. The food was delicious
The staff were delightful
The atmosphere was divine
The price was down-to-earth
Gopals - DO IT!
I popped in for a quick, healthy, cheap dinner on a Wednesday night and loved it.
...situated up a flight of stairs on Swanston Street, offering relief from the daily hustle and bustle of the city. On our most recent visit, we found that the entire space has been redecorated with lovingly hand-decorated walls, new paintings, and even new furniture and light fixtures, giving the place a fresh new look.
I discovered this little gem one random lunch time when T tentatively suggested it, double checking whether I would be ready for something a bit out there. I used to enjoy visiting Wholefoods back in my university days and was thus actually quite looking forward to Gopal's. Located on a busy stretch of Swanston St, Gopal's is located on prime real estate. We ventured up set of old, but not too narrow stairs, and found ourselves in a brightly lit room with high ceilings. Without the need to exaggerate at all, this is by far one of the best views of Melbourne CBD I have yet to see. The food here is completely vegetarian and vegan friendly. Most of it is also GF and hence T's enthusiasm for coming here. There is a great selection of hearty and nourishing hot dishes and cold salads, as well as pastries and snacks. Prices are unbelievably cheap, and we fed ourselves without even breaking a $20. I was quite taken with my spinach pie and loved how it overflowed with filling. Despite the incredibly generous serving sizes, it was all surprisingly light and I felt rather healthy afterwards having eaten all that good food.
Delicious!. Delicious food, lovely and clean, flowers on the tables and paintings on the walls. Great atmosphere and great food.
Great budget priced vegetarian food - $9.90 Lasagne + Salad but cafe bit smelly cos of nearby toilet!. $9.90 for a good sized slab of vegetarian lasagne with two choices of small side salads. It was our first time at Gopals and I was pleasantly surprised but I don't know if I will be back to dine in as there were urine smells that we wafting into the dining room. Maybe take away is the go. P.s. the food is baine marie style but looked like a good turnover.
Paradise for vegetarians and vegans.
Great choices; healthy food!
Like a Home Cooked Meal!. Cheap, healthy dinner that's extremely delicious and makes vegetarian nights easy and scrumptious! The atmosphere is extremely casual and its a great place to just rock up in trackies for a quick, but three course dinner and drink. Would reccomend!
Hidden Vegetarian Gem in the Cbd. Stumble upon this hidden gem of a restaurant when we were looking for a vegetarian place. Service was excellent, the manager (a young dude) was friendly and well organised to our group of 6. Most of us had the vegetarian platter which comes with rice or roti, 2 curries, 2 salads, a drink & desert for $11.50, what a deal ! Found out from the manager that Gopals have been in business for the past 35 years ! Can't say that I am surprise after the wonderful dining experience we had.
Awesome vege food! Two thumbs up!. Situated on Swanston street this restaurant is nestled on the 2nd floor and the entrance to the restaurant is through a long staircase! But the climb is good for you specially thinking of the exercise you will need to burn the calories you would eat when you get to the restaurant. The food upstairs at the restaurant we felt was surely worth the short climb. There were many options to select from with the price ranging starting from 11.50 for a meal which includes 2 salads, rice or roti, 2 curries, 1 drink & 1 dessert. The vegetarian kofka curry and the tofu stir fry was really nice! We loved the food and were very glad we found this place and will definitely be visiting again soon!!!
So yummy!! And fresh, friendly service and great value. Really generous portions. Next time I think I'll ask for a smaller serve just so nothing is wasted. I had the vegan options - veg and tofu curry, kofta ball and 2 delicious salads - beetroot and a green. I really liked the interior of this place too - great spot in the city and very clean. Enjoy!
Love this place. I can always count on Gopals for a delicious, healthy, well-priced meal. Love the range of salads, and the cheesecake for dessert is always a winner. Best part about this place is they don't use garlic or onion in any of their meals. Always looking forward to my next visit.
Always good and healthy. Gopal is one of our favourite restaurants in Melbourne. The food is consistently good and healthy. After a lunch there, we feel regenerated and light at the same time. And we also appreciate this quiet and friendly atmosphere break, before going back shopping or walking in this busy part of the city.
Beautiful food. Lovely service. Cheap and portions are great.
This place is a hidden treasure! The food is awesome and the view down onto the street is great! More food than you can handle!!
The staff at Crossways are particularly friendly and accommodating and service is very fast. You can purchase take away or you can eat there and consume as many servings of main course, dessert & beverages as you desire for just $9.50 (or $7.50 if you have a concession card) regardless. The Hare Krishna food meets various food groups & dietary requirements/preferences, making it accessible and healthy to various individuals. The main course and some deserts are vegan and overall, the menu is vegetarian. The curries are generally mildly spicy and flavoursome and there are a great deal of vegetables and very often some tofu and legumes. The menu includes rice, papadums 2 curries, fruit halava, orange cordial, lassi & water. There is a set menu for every day of the week. I am personally very glad that Crossways has re-opened and I believe the food is delicious and a good staple. I pay Crossways a visit on most days I’m in the city and it is my favourite restaurant of all time! I would recommend Crossways, particularly for people who like curries, have specific dietary preferences &/ have large appetites.
The entrance to Gopals is on Swanson street up 2 flight of stairs. Good choice of freshly made food offered in Bain Marie warmer cabinet. There were 6 dishes on the menu when I was there. Including a beautiful dessert. Also 4 or 5 salad options. Very warm friendly people serving. Bain Marie s continually being topped up with freshly cooked food. Huge serves, very reasonably priced and very yummy.
Have come here a couple of times with vegan friends, not a vegan/vegetarian myself.
Really appreciate the simplicity and quality of the food. Lots of healthy legume based dishes, much better than western 'vegan' fare full of soy.
Great place, I love eating here! The 2 veg and 2 salad combination does wonders if you’ve been having a struggling digestive system. I’d give 5 stars if they offered plain yoghurt as well. Under $10 is also generally good value for money- I don’t think you can find that at any other sit down place.
Stumbled across this place and it was amazing. Great choice and value for money. The potion size was so big I couldn't eat it all and was only $9. Best vegan food I have had. Highly recommend you give it a try.
Just outstanding vegetarian and vegan food. We loved the amazing flavors and taste sensations of all dishes tried. Excellent value for money, rotated menus and caring friendly staff that added to the experience. Will definatly visit again. Recommended vegetarian restaurant that will not disappoint.
Had sumptuous lunch at Gopals. Amazing and delicious food. Chef Rohit was extremely polite and we just left it to him to suggest our order. Dal(lentil soup) was the best I've had in a long time. Would definitely come next time.
