Preordered a takeaway coffee here before work. It was ready straight away and was perfectly hot. I wasn't expecting much, to be honest, but was surprised by my pleasant experience.

Great service great setting, great breakfast quality and the chocolate brownie was out of this world! Open later than other shops which is good because anybody that closes at 2:30pm shouldn’t open at all. Definitely recommended!
We love coming to Gordons when visiting the city.. we have been going there for years.. always great service, beautiful food & coffee.. (the manager/owner always remembers us & makes you feel welcome)
On our recent visit I had the gf grilled calamari salad.. lovely & tender calamari, fresh crisp salad & very satisfying.. the menu has plenty of gf/df options including pasta which is also yummy..

I didn't check reviews on this place before I sat down - and it appeared to be the best of the bunch in a pretty touristy spot. Having read some of the reviews on here many regularly love this place. I thought it was fine but I would look elsewhere because there is much better in Melbourne.
Yes the menus pretty diverse and the food is fine - but not amazing. The service is nothing special but with one exception. There was a family with youngish kids. Two needed to go to the toilet - they were of an age to go unsupervised. Apparently the toilet is down an alley...round a corner...you know...those kind of places. The waiter took them down...then came back and explained to the parents where they were - and assured them that if they were too long he would go down and check. The parents appeared pretty relaxed and I was impressed with his care.
I had the souvlaki - the menu said it came with tomato; Spanish onion and cucumber...and chips! I didn't really want chips but I was looking forward to some tasty veggies. But there was little of the tomato; cucumber and spanish onion...plenty of salad greens. The meat and sauce was great. It kind of under delivered...and at $24.50 was pretty pricey I thought.
Gordon’s is on one of the main visitors alleyways so that’s always a bit of a risk. Nice ambience inside and music set the mood and the staff are friendly and welcoming to the early starters. Breakfast for me of eggs Benedict and a coffee or two. Coffee as ever in Melbourne was solid. Strong flavour and aroma without a hint of bitterness. Breakfast plate was pedestrian looking but tasted good. A minor quibble was the end piece of the loaf as one of the slices which made eating a challenge. First world problem I know.
Anyway overall it’s a solid like and of course you pay a little premium for being on one of the mainlines; which you may enjoy for the people watching.
Good food at Gordon's with a continental feel, alfresco cafe dining and attention to quality. Aside from our waitress understanding about one in four words we said everything was pretty smooth. It has all the great atmosphere of Little Collins Street and is reasonably priced. We had an excellent chorizo and potato pizza (also has bacon, mushrooms, cheese and Napoli sauce) and a chicken, chorizo and white bean quesadilla. French fries (again the continental element), fresh squeezed OJ, chocolate milkshake and a pretty good cappuccino.
If you're looking for a great place for breakfast at a reasonable price in Melbourne, then check this place out. Situated on Little Collins, Gordon's is the place to see. Amazing staff, service and food. The English breakfast was almost too much for me hahaha. Plus the atmosphere with the decor and music makes it so much better. Definitely coming back here again.
I was skeptical about this place because it was down that alley where the waiters always try to lure you in to their cafes. It feels very overwhelming. We were strolling past looking for a place to eat and the friendly waiter said for us to look at the menu. She, in no way try to get us in the door. We liked what we saw on the menu so decided to go inside. We played it safe and ordered eggs Bennie and a BLT on turkish bread. Both were very generous portions and there was nothing fancy about it but it definitely hit the spot. The coffee was OK. It wasn't the best coffee I've had but I can't really say anything bad about it. The girl who served us was so lovely and friendly so hats off to this place. Thank you.
It’s always hard to turn away from welcoming staff while perusing the menu displayed outside a cafe, and that’s how I ended up here for lunch today as I was subjected to an highly enthusiastic explanation of the specials on the menu. Chai Latte ($4.50) for starters. Smooth, creamy and sweet. I only noticed now how much more pleasant it is to drink it out of a cup with no plastic lid, allowing me to appreciate the foamy texture.
