Wonderful to see the place revitalised - I remember dining in the old formal Cliveden Room back in the day. I had a drink with a friend in the bar with snacks a few weeks ago, terrific food & atmosphere. Then Thursday evening went with husband and another couple to the Dining Room. Wonderful selection of food and the cook to order theatre style was marvellous. Had to finish with dessert and the home made ice-creams, chocolate fountain (white & dark) plus assortment of petite sweets took us all to our happy places :) The staff were attentive, appreciated the maitre d' directing us to a table away from a party pf 30 guests. One waitress a little too attentive, there's a skill to interrupting diners deep in conversation. The chef was so proud & enthusiastic explaining what was on offer - really appreciated his mingling with us. Bonus was an included glass of wine (we added to it!) and being Accor Plus members the value of the meal was fantastic. Will definitely go back again - maybe the seafood night next time :)

Sure has changed since earlier in the year The update looks fantastic yet the service and food quality remain first class Have dinner here before a football game at AAMI Park Food is no comparison to that offended at the ground and surprisingly there isn’t much of s price difference Special thanks to the Dutch chap who looked after us

We had the opportunity to have a 3 course dinner here a while ago. For entree we had a dozen of fresh Tasmanian oysters and their Citrus Cured Salmon with seeds crisps.

Both entrees were fantastic. The oysters were fresh. The cured salmon were beautifully light and the seed crisps really brings great balance of textures and flavours of the overall dish.
For mains, we had the Tasmanian Wilderness Beef Fillet and Tasmanian Wild Clover Lamb Rump. The beef fillet was outstanding. Perfectly cooked (medium rare), so tender, juicy and flavoursome. The red wine jus perfectly compliment the beef. The lamb was an equally beautiful dish. Perfectly cooked, juicy and tasty. The gravy that accompany it was so yumm. The mashed potato could have been a little smoother, but it was not a total dealbreaker for me.
The desserts? We had Ebene Dark Chocolate Mouse and Passionfruit Cheesecake with Red Fruit Jam. Both dishes were beautifully plated, as I would expect from such hotel dining room. If you love chocolates (who doesn’t?), you would love the chocolate mousse. Smooth and delish. The passionfruit cheesecake is a great refreshing closure to a satisfying dinner we had. A little tangy with smooth centre and a nice cheese cake base.
The dining room has beautiful set up with cosy seats at different corners. We were seated in one corner near the window overlooking the street and park side. It was a week night, so I guess they just try to maximise seating to one corner along with other guests nearby? If I had a dinner date, I would have preferred other more intimate tables in other positions. Common sense.
Otherwise, nice ambient, great dining experience.

Being the only bar / restaurant in Pullman at The Park, The Cliven Bar & Dining was teeming with businessman, cabin crews and travellers. Met up with a cousin and had dinner here.

Both of us ordered their sweet potato chips, pumpkin soup and pasta of the day - spaghetti with cheese cream sauce. As I am a cheese lover, I absolutely loved my dish! It was thick, creamy and savoury just the way I like it - though when it comes to creamy dishes, the cream dried up quickly over time so make sure not to repeat the same mistake I did (I'm a slow eater).

The sweet potato chips were fresh but the batter could be better and crunchier, they turned soggy after left out for a while. The pumpkin soup was satisfactorily rich and flavorsome, paired well with a chilled Lemon Lime Bitter. Our waiter who is an European man was amazingly attentive, patient and accommodating! Never felt like we were rushed at all and was always ready to serve with pleasure.

Despite this restaurant not being in the most central location, it is actually a wonderful place to have a good long catch up with cozy ambiance and attentive service. Highly recommend The Cliveden Bar & Dining :)

We have stayed 2 nights at the Pullman on the Park Melbourne and have enjoyed the buffet breakfast (plenty of choice!) and the buffet diner. Everything is super fresh and tasty. The staff is so kind and the service is quick. Then, we have enjoyed some drinks at the bar, very nice atmosphere and again, the staff was super nice! Great experience and we hope to come back soon!

The Best Kept Secret in Melbourne
At the risk of losing my EASY and trouble-free access to what must be the best value, highest quality lunch deal going in Melbourne, I am going to write and spruike about this amazing offer and restaurant.

IT IS ONE OF THE BEST KEPT SECRETS in Melbourne and surrounds.

The Cliveden Bar & Restaurant used to be a posh, stuffy, "Melbourne Club" style, collared shirt, jacket & tie sort of place with high prices to match, while owned and run by the Hilton Group.

In its original incarnation,The Cliveden emitted an air of exclusivity and old English grace and style and upper class.

The location is important. It is built on the city fringe in East Melbourne, abutting the Fitzroy Gardens. Convenient, without the hustle and bustle of the city chaos.

It is located across the road from the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) - the seminal heart & home of the Melbourne sport, hosting events such as 1956 Melbourne Olympics, Aussie Rules Football and Cricket and a few other disparate events [American Evangelist Billy Graham attracted a crowd of 143K + in 1959 and overseas music artists including: Bowie, U2, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Billy Joel, Guns n Roses etc.]

Recently, this hotel has been sold, re-branded and has a new "soul".

It is part of the Accor Group of Hotels under the Pullman brand.

For those of you not familiar with Pullman, it an upmarket hotel, geared for busy business people for both work and leisure but with the proviso of 5* top quality and standard.

There are terrific business meeting and conference facilities.

All Pullmans are uber cool.

The Cliveden has stolen my favourite Chef from Pullman Albert Park's Windows restaurant - Mr David Albert.

Confession, the Pullman Albert Park's twice monthly, seafood buffet is my favourite culinary experience. It happens on the 2nd Friday & Saturday of every month.

My "hero" dish is a baked salmon encrusted in truffle lined pastry with a champagne source. I cannot even describe how delicious and sublime the flavours of this amazing dish are combined with other similarly amazing fresh salads, assorted breads, cold meats, canapes, cold fish and seafood and other amazing hot dishes... As if that is not enough [always overindulge] the desserts are in another realm!

There are usually a dozen different choices of bite-size European style desserts, finely crafted, a chocolate fountain, yummy fresh fruit salad, a hot dish, Nutella doughnuts, an ice-cream bar with excellent quality sorbets and creams and a choice of barista-made coffees and teas...

Back to The Cliveden Bar & Dining LUNCH: For $39.50, one has the opportunity to revel in a Mediterranean themed, bonanza of food and selection!

There are delicious cold meats, antipasto, smoked fish, dolemades, assorted salads, cold seafood including prawns, flavoured mussels etc.

On another counter are the hot dishes.

One can also request a fillet of fish or steak cooked immediately according to the patron's choice and preference. eg. Barramundi with that delectable BBQ edge.

Everything is fresh and immediate.

The chef has also set the standard for the desserts.

The tiramisu at my last dining was truly the most delicious version of this dessert that I have ever tasted.

There are a number of bite-sized temptations just like the standard and quality that was set at Pullman Albert Park.

The display and choice for the Easter holidays was absolutely spectacular with bunnies, chocolate, eggs the pervading theme.

Once again, one can request any type of barista coffee to finish off the most amazing and fulfilling lunch offer that I know!

The atmosphere and ambience is terrific.

The restaurant and bar areas have been renovated and there is a focus on the beautiful, neighbouring Fitzroy Gardens and all the light from the huge windows.

The staff are kitted out in European, cafe-style gear and are there at one's service.

I have eaten here when there "is" and "is not" a business conference on-site, happening [feast and famine] yet I have observed that the level of service was comparable and high at all times.

Another highlight for me was the stunning stained glass panels that are mesmerising if somewhat incongruous amid the renovated space that they occupy..

I am surprised and shocked that word has not spread about this fantastic venue and reasonable pricing.

Given its location, Vic Parliamentarians, hospital staff, MCG etc., for $39.50 for unlimited top quality food, including coffee and dessert, I challenge anyone to top that!

Members of the Accor loyalty program, Accor Plus, also receive 50% discount!

The Cliveden is located at the Pullman Hotel in East Melbourne, and is split into two spaces. A bar for unwinding with a few drinks and a dining space for more substantial eats. At the bar there is a good selection of sharing plates to go with your drinks. I sampled the Code Croquette, Potato Bravas and Hummus (with Italian Flatbread, not pictured). The highlight was the croquette, the inner was delicate with fine fish flakey texture and was exceptionally creamy.

I love a hotel breakfast and this one is pretty good. It has all the standard items. It isn’t too fancy but gets the basics right. The coffee is pod coffee but possibly the best pod coffee cappuccino I’ve ever had.

The Cliveden breakfast is great for travellers. But if you are wanting something a bit different or special then you’re probably better off elsewhere.

Excellent customer services and attentive staffs. I went for seafood buffet dinner on last Friday night. Somehow I mess up with the booking and the manager resolved the issue straight away without any hesitation. Thumps up.

Once my booking being finalised, the wait staffs lead us to our table and explain to us the variety of foods serving at different stations for the night. Services wise, everything you expected from a 4 stars hotels, they delivered smoothly to us. Plates replace frequently and very swiftly. Drinks and after meal coffee and tea served very promptly.

For the ambiance, the re-modernise of the bar and dinning room offer a quite, specious, comfortable and relax feeling.

For the food, it offered a simply variety of selection where it able to cover all the customers needed. I really enjoy the cold cut meats, fresh seafood (oyster & prawn), made to order pasta, roast station and dessert station. The only let down to me are the salad bar and hot food station, they simply lack of variety. Also, should the cheese station locate next to cold cut meat as well and not sitting behind a pole.

Overall, I'm very satisfied for the value I got from a voucher and I'm very keen to return as a full paying customer in the future.

A month later I find myself here again... a birthday get together ... this time around I knew what to expect and had no real expectations...

+1 star... prawns were much nicer, bigger and fresh. Salads were great and the chicken n fish were done differently. sorry for the non description there wasn't much signage. Had to open the lids etc to see what it was. We liked everything today.

If they swapped out the cous cous with a fried rice or something I think that be better. No one touched it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Cliveden! We started off at the bar where we enjoyed some gorgeous (in taste and look) cocktails and tapas style food. The spicy chorizo and cod croquettes were great. The hummus was decent though very small in serving!
We then went to the buffet. Greeted by a huge chocolate fountain with both white and milk chocolate, we knew we were in for a good time! The buffet includes a wide array of salads, antispasto, seafood, cheese, soup and other delicious and fresh items however our standout was the freshly cooked pasta!!! Made to choose (you pick your sauce etc) the home made pasta was seriously incredible and has left us dreaming about it! If we weren’t so full we would have definitely gone back for a few more! The dessert buffet is incredible- ice cream, brownies, wafers and other delicious ingredients to compliment the chocolate fountain as well as a whole display of different cakes and tarts- any sweet tooth lover will go crazy (we definitely suggest not eating for a while before visiting)! The service is superb (first name basis).

The Cliveden Bar & Dining is a restaurant and bar that sits on the ground floor of the hotel Pullman on the Park that is aiming to “reinvent the buffet”. While talk of buffets usually sends us running in the opposite direction, we took up an invitation to dine here partially out of curiosity, and partially because of what was once here.

We sat at the bar and had a few cocktails and a few share plates. The cod croquettes were superb.
A special mention to the chef that whipped up a bowl of ravioli! That ravioli had us drooling and dreaming about it for days. A good selection of Mediterranean food at the buffet which were fresh and tasty. It has recently been renovated and is now filled with light and spacious. It was a fantastic dining experience with a glass of bubbles. Also did we mention there's a chocolate fountain with milk AND white chocolate?

Superb dining experience. Great location, accessible parking, modern and clean venue. Favourite part was the amazing service by Agnes and the exceptional cooking by the Executive sous chef, Paolo. The barramundi was cooked to perfection and all guests had a lovely time. Would recommend and will come back again.

This hotel bar is exceptional, the view overlooking the park is very relaxing, and the vibe and atmosphere inside is unbeatable. Ill always get myself an espresso, take a seat and get some serious thinking and planning done. Great place to relax and reflect or to have a drink or two with friends.

Staff is polite and attentive. Menu selection was very limited. Food was average. Atmosphere is nice. Price is worth if you're an accorplus member but they don't do membership benefits on days there are events at the MCG
