Nicky Riemer has created a wonderful menu to match the fantastic wine list. I love being able to pop next door to the wine store to select something special... The food is outstanding - the oysters and cheese selections are also excellent. Have been quite a few times now, and have never been disappointed!
What a great place! Great food and wine, super friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. Will be back for sure
Had a great experience here Saturday with some girlfriends. Hayley & Ingrid were absolutely stellar when it came to customer service and accommodating our dietary needs. Great service, fantastic food (pork rillets!), great wine list...will definitely be back!!
Service and food was amazing. I would recommend this place.
High quality food and food and good service. Best crackling for ages. Lamb ragout really good too.
Love this place, menu is a bit different and very
Fabulous as always , food always excellent, staff lovely and wine, well do I need to say, excellent
Lovely restaurant/wine bar - great service and even better food!
Such a beautiful restaurant , service was great and the food amazing
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always fabulous here
If you like champagne and oysters, this place is for you! Excellent croquettes and charcuterie too.
Loved dinner at Bellota. Such a great little wine bar with a nice atmosphere, delicious food and extensive wine selection. We went on a BYO night which was a really good option. Between two we had the arrancini, the fried pork rillettes, the salmon gravlax, the beef tartare and the beetroots with stratiatella. We probably over ordered slightly but all the food was fantastic. The rillettes and the beetroots were my personal favourites. Will definitely be back.
If you are looking for uncomplicated , unpretentious rustic European cuisine then this is the place for you. After starting with a cocktail at the bar the manager took us on a tour of the wine store which is attached to the restaurant. There is certainly a wine to meet anyone’s taste and an overwhelming choice of wines. The great part is you can select a wine from the store (at very reasonable price ) and pay a small corkage fee and enjoy at your table. The staff here are so friendly and enjoy what they do and make you feel so welcome not to mention are very well educated when it comes to wine and spirits . The food was rustic and tasty and enjoyed the lamb shoulder ragu .
Honestly, some of the best service I’ve seen in Australia. Our group had a couple tricky dietaries, and Hayley and Ingrid handled it like gems. They really went above and beyond for my friends birthday. Wine selection is gorgeous, fried pork rilletes are a must try, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back.

+4.5
Absolutely lovely lunch at Bellota!
For entree, I shared the charcuterie board which was particularly nice. All the cold cuts were top quality and the pickled vegetables and almonds were welcome additions. It was the perfect size for two people to share as well. As we we were just having a light lunch, I chose an entree for my main - the arancini. These were some of the best I’ve had - great fennel taste and perfectly cheesy. The restaurant itself is charming, with very sleek, dark decor providing the perfect atmosphere for both a lunch, dinner or drinks. I can’t wait to return!
Great experience overall. Very attentive service, great wine selection and delicious food. We had the charcuterie board with a triple cream brie which was absolutely amazing! The arancini balls were good too. Not a massive fan of the wedges but still I'd definitely recommend going!
Came here for our Wedding Anniversary and enjoyed a very tasty 3 course meal with wonder service. I had been here a year or so ago for a “long lunch” and had been impressed with the quality of the food and the standard of service. I wasn’t disappointed this time either. The quieter back room is lined with linen clothed tables for more intimate dining, whilst the front “wine bar” section is lively and full, spilling out onto street-side alfresco, perfect for sunny afternoons and warm nights. I’ll definitely be back.
Friday night early dinner at Bellota with a group of 5. We had no booking for the tables with cloth in the back, however they put a couple of tables for us together in the front.
Bellota is adjoined to the prince wine shop.
The good: the food was great, we enjoyed the salumni board and various other dishes. The greatest steel for me was the ability to go to the wine shop and pretty much choose any bottle to drink at the restaurant. What a fun. The catch, if it less than $80, there is a $15 corkage.
Service was friendly and helpful.
The not so good: Nothing really - a great night.
Would I go again? For sure
Love this place. We came here last Thursday and had some oysters and a charcuterie board . We also share a bottle of wine from the cellar next door. I would change the bresaola from the charcuterie board because it wasn't a good bresaola and because the rest of the board was quite nice. Very good service.
Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Italian style food was not generic and not whacky, but finely crafted. Best dish we had was the spaghettini with crab and basil: subtle flavours, perfect texture.
Let's be honest here. The food did not blow my mind but it was decent. So normally this would be a 3.5. So why 4.5 you wonder? Because a restaurant is so much more than just the what you get on a plate.
Good ambience. TICK!
4 of us came on a Saturday night at 8pm and we were seated straight away without a booking. TICK!
Friendly and prompt service. TICK!
You can pick any bottle at the attached wine store and pay no corkage as long as the bottle is over $80. DOUBLE TICK!
We had share plates and a Leeuwin estate art series Chardonnay and a Cullen Diana Madeleine and surprise! Less than $120 a head.
Why drink at home when you can drink here at the same cost and get decent food and service along with it?
Love this restaurant, had dinner on Saturday night here and everything was great! Good service, love that you can get a bottle from the wine store, the food was all delicious (especially the octopus), will be back for sure. Only real negative was that we sat at the front of the restaurant and the wall doesn't touch the ground so the frosty air was flowing in.. Book at the back of the restaurant!
Service very polite, attentive and friendly, food perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, good atmosphere and a wonderful wine selection
Fairly busy when I went during midweek! So thought maybe that's a good sign! Didn't realize they had their own store wondered thru while
I waited for a seat to be free... Restaurant manager was very informative to what dishes and wine would be suitable for us! Even dared to try the goats tounge and surprisingly all the flavors worked! Had the steak and frites , and shared a dessert - can't wait to go back!
Casual feel to the place but serves nice food. Staff are polite and a good place to relax with some cheese and a nice glass of wine. Very good.
good food & ambience... service was good & professional... good selection of wine... price was affordable... definitely had a great time here...
A great little European style restaurant. Ive eaten here a few times now and the quality of food offered is always up there. The menu has a mixed European lineage, but everything is full of flavour. The wine list is almost endless - which I assume is related to their connection with the Prince Wine Store next door. Small, intimate, with a tiny courtyard, but the food, wine and the service are the real highlights.
Right next door to and owned by Prince Wine Store. Great variety of food. The salumi board and cheese varieties are a favourite. So are the croquetas, pork rilletes and the terrine! Never really tried a main dish there. For me it's one of those places you sit down with a glass or bottle of wine and share a bunch of smaller dishes. Of note is that you can buy any bottle from the wine shop next door for the shelf price and enjoy it here (corkage depends on the bottle price I think). Head down to the bottle shop for free wine tasting at 12-2pm most Saturday's and then pop in here for lunch - a perfect Saturday outing!
Really cool place... Great wine list, catering to all palates. Charcuterie board was delicious and service was outstanding. Will definitely be back.
Great place. Really good modern european menu and wine selection. The cured meats and cheese selection is bloody good. Best service I've had, maybe ever. Really good value for money too.
Bellota ticks all the foodies boxes. Delightful dishes, fantastic wines, knowledgable staff all in a trendy venue and suburb! Had the pleasure of having a wide range of tasting plates. The salumi plate was a tasty variety, I particularly enjoyed the prosciutto. The smoked octopus dish was a stand out for a cold dish! The poached veal dressed in a tuna mayonnaise was great too. For main course I sampled some of the seafood but I don't really enjoy much shellfish. It was all cooked perfectly though! The slow cooked lamb was beautifully tender and flavourful. The sides of roasted new potato and the beetroot salad with ricotta were fabulous! The golden beets really gave it the roasted sweetness. To finish there was a cheese board. I didn't ask but I'm almost certain one of the cheeses was d'affinois, my absolute favourite! So rich and creamy. I will have to ask my boyfriend to bring me back here, he enjoyed our dinner just as much and the staff were attentive to his allergies which is a breath of fresh air! Thank you Bellota! Hope to return soon.
Great food...great service....great wine list. The main dishes a little on the small size, but nice fresh ingredients were used
Highly recommend.
There is always something intangible that separates good and great. It is normally a feeling that makes you want to stay; want to come back. I get that feeling at Bellota Wine Bar in South Melbourne.
Lovely friendly little bar. Been here three times. Loved it each time. Ideal for a visit after also visiting Prince wine next door and Cloudwine around the corner. Lovely selection of wines and food. Very pleasant staff. Hard not to like. I shall definetly return.
Wonderful reliable enjoyable local bar. Lovely space. Nice selection of wines available. Very nice dishes to be had. Efficient friendly service. Ticks pretty much every box for me. I'll definetly be back.
Favourite past time- getting blotto & Belotta. What a great place. Wine stores all around if you haven't had your fill on the way out. Good bar snacks. Many a conversation to eves drop.
A great place to relax.. Many time visitor and always love this place. Of course the wine selection is outstanding given the set up. Great food, not a huge variety but that's what makes this great place work.
Staff are super friendly, attentive and professional in a non intrusive, relaxed way. The patronage are a mix of business and casual, making this place as up market or a low keyed as you wish. Also a great place to entertain.
Great food and wine, well priced to boot. Finally dined here and wasnt disappointed. The veal was great as was the selection of salami as an entrée. Obviously a fine wine list with plenty of options and the full PWS retail stock if you need it! You dont. Will return soon
Great wine bar. We love this relaxed European style wine bar and have been back many times. Excellent wine list and a menu catering to snacking, sharing or a full meal. Love the charcuterie plates and the pork schnitzel is a favorite. Wait staff are friendly and efficient and quick to offer more bread. Lovely French butter.
Fantastic bistro! Romantic! We bought a bottle from Prince next door and had fantastic waitresses serving us beautiful food. Ill definitely be back. Perfect for couples, families- whatever!
The food was delicious! The yellow fin tuna with harissa mayonnaise cooked perfectly, and yoghurt panna cotta, this dessert was very refreshing! Definitely recommend this wine bar! Great ambience. Will be back for sure.
Delightful European bistro. We had a really fantastic dining experience at Bellota. Its a lovely addition to the Prince Wine Store and South Melbourne.
We stumbled in last night to discover a busy bistro and sat comfortably at the bar where we enjoyed a selection of cheeses, olives etc. The jamon croquettes were so delicious. For mains we ate the goats cheese tart and mussels followed by greek yogurt panacotta with hazelnut and grapes. All were faultless.
Bellota uses great quality ingredients and everything is beautifully cooked. They also have a cracking wine list and staff are well versed on wine menu. We will be back again soon.
Loved it!. Excellent wine list, and the food was delicious! We'll be back.
South Melbourne wine store The Prince has had the genius idea to open a wine bar next door and even have a door through from the store! Peruse the many amazing wines The Prince wine store has to offer and if you want to pick up a luttle something you can then take it through to the wine bar next door for a small corkage fee (unless you spend over $80 on the bottle and then it’s free!). Or you can select from the very fine wine list the team have put together in the wine bar with a great selection by the glass, carafe and bottle. Easy to pick a little drop to enjoy and the staff are super lovely and attentive but it is the food which is making me smile the most! A long awaited little spot to enjoy some candle lit tapas and good wine. The menu is all the things I love, reasonably priced and with it being around the corner we are already planning our next trip to explore that menu further! Being a total carb fiend I adore a place that puts a basket of fresh bread and soft gorgeous butter
