The food was amazing and the hospitality was even better, a super sweet lady went above and beyond to make sure we were happy, will definitely be coming back and recommending to all our friends
Always love going back there to have the crab fried rice, BBQ pork and the papaya salad.
Food 4/5
Service 3/5
Environment 4/5
We tried a lot of Curry today and my favorite is green curry, which is rich flavor and tasty especially combine with coconut rice. Panang curry is good as well. Massman curry. The price is average but lunch special is valuable. Totally is a good place for friend are talking and enjoying the food.
We were the first through the door at 12, with a couple of groups behind us (a good sign). We ordered the curry puffs for a starter and then a couple of lunch specials. The curries were down to $12.95 for a curry with rice. The curry puffs were fresh, soft and had a lovely flavour, the curries came out quickly and were a great size, with delicious flavour and full of vegetables and a good amount of meat. Was a great find.
Update: one of the girls didn’t finish her meals and the lovely waitress came out and checked to see whether she had enjoyed her mea (which she had, she just was full). Was a lovely gesture.
First time at this restaurant which we found after looking around for a Thai place. We were warmly welcomed in by this charming lady should have asked her name but she offered a lovely service and checked in on us regularly.
Food was beautiful, authentic taste, generous portions and well presented. The roti was yum and that peanut sauce is to die for! I had chicken cashew nut stir fry and my friend has Penang curry . We also shared an apple salad. We were so stuffed after we could barely move!
The atmosphere is nice and quiet almost romantic place. It was not loud or super crowded just the right balance for an enjoyable meal on a cold rainy day!
Was absolutely starving whilst driving through Carlton and I felt like a bit of Thai. I blindly picked one of the random Thai restaurants in the strip of shops. I definitely was not disappointed. Best pad Thai I have ever had in Australia 🇦🇺
Very good Thai food on Lygon street. Very underrated compared to next door and The famous Ying Thai 2. Looks like fine dining from the outside but the price is surprisingly cheaper than Ying Thai. My recommended dish is the basil sauce stir fry, the white coconut soup, and the beef massaman. Portion is very generous too. Remember to try the coconut rice, it’s very fragrant and not a lot of sugar and salt added to it.
Came here on a whim because we were looking for a BYO on Lygon Strret. The food was SO good! We had corn cakes for entree and they were delicious. We had crispy pork with broccoli and pad se yew for mains and they were both lovely. The presentation was a highlight, the dishes looked amazing before you even tasted them. The staff was super attentive and very friendly. Highly recommend!
Most of weekends, I choose restaurants by my wife’s feeling on the day.
On that day, it was Green curry, green curry, green curry... so I Zomated surrounds area and chose here.
It was good choice. Their customer service was excellent only one guy are in charge of front though.
Food presentation was also nice.
Taste was not outstanding but overall this place is well balanced among taste, volume, ambience and price.
Compared with Sydney, number of casual Thai restaurants are very small, but at the moment, this place is on my Thai food restaurant list :)
The food in this aplace is worth more than it’s rating imo.
We were originally going to Ying Thai, which is rated 4.4 on Zomato and just a few steps away from this place. However it was not open, so we went for a second option. We were reluctant to try Thai City out because it has only a 3.3 rating, but we were pleasantly surprised!!!
We weren’t feeling hungry so we only ordered a papaya salad, a chicken salad, tom yum soup and coconut juice. Every dish had a very pleasant taste, we could tell it wasn’t the most authentic Thai food out there, but the slightly revamped taste actually made the dishes better IMO. Sometimes the most authentic doesn’t equal the most tasty!
I can’t give 5 stars just yet because I haven’t tried the hot dishes from Thai city, but so far so good and we’ll definitely come to this place instead of YingThai( which is too overrated ) when we want to have Thai food again 😂
Good food, good value perfect place if you want to try something different but don't want to go to far out of your comfort zone. The best part is the value feed a group of 4 well with mains appetisers and drinks for under $150. Would go again but not regularly.
Wowwie I love this place, the decor, the food, the service.. very clean and refreshing. Excellent ❤
This restaurant on Lygon Street was amazing! The service was fantastic, Jody was very charismatic & polite. The food was a 10/10. No complaints. Try it if you dare! Go now!
Got the Tamarind Sauce Prawns and it tasted very good. Try to have the sauce adequately with the Prawns because it might be a bit too sweet. Quantity was more than adequate.
Every dish was so good. Green curry was the best green curry I’ve had anywhere, tom yum and Tom Ga Kai were also extremely tasty, and they do Pad Kee Mao!
The service is soooo lovely.
We will surely be back!
I was with our friends again tonight and we went there. We ate very delicious meals there again. Number one in the city.
Quick service, freebies added to order on pickup. Delicious food, authentic flavours. We had pad Thai, bbq pork/tofu, chicken fried rice, tamarind prawns. Would recommend this restaurant
