We got a cudo voucher for this place. Wow, wow and double wow.
Service, fantastic. All done with a smile and nothing is to much trouble! However my daughter asked for tomato sauce and the waiter told her she would have to wash the dishes... All done with a laugh (my daughter is 14)
Food, fantastic, come with a hungry appetite! They don't skimp on size or quality.
Beer, fresh, ice cold
Couldn't fault anything will definitely be back and would gladly recommend
Amazing food , amazing service, we will definitely be back .Best lamb shanks & home made wild mushroom gnocchi, calamari was to die for .
Good food great service really like the atmosphere will be back
My friend and I had a pre dinner drink here, what appealed to me when I walked past was the atmosphere inside. There were plenty of people inside enjoying a drink, the layout of the pub is really nice with a beautiful bar.
Staff were great, very helpful as I wanted to sample a couple of the tap beers. There was a great selection of tap beers, I ended up going for the Byron Bay Brewery Pale Lager. I haven't had this before and it went down a treat, even better when it is happy hour and $6 a pint - yes please!
A great local to stop by and enjoy a drink or two.
Really delish food! Have been here twice... recommend the calamari, parmigiana and steak!Would come back again. Used a groupon but prices are still reasonable
So pleasantly surprised with this place. The food was cooked really well. The protein mains we had (chicken and salmon) were cooked perfectly. The sides and purées were well coordinated and tasty additions. The entrees were again, cooked well (calamari soft and ribs, even softer and fell off the bone). The service was mediocre, but food made up for any shortcomings. Will be back for more!
We walked more than a km to find this gem of a place and let me tell you it was the worth the long walk. The ambiance of the place ain’t that good but the food was so amazing. The best dish was the lamb shank.
A good, friendly local pub. Wednesday nights mean trivia (starts around 8 pm) and it’s fun for all.
The menu isn’t very exciting, but the parmas are fabulous. They’re big and the chicken is tender. I also love their poutine. The lamb shanks were unfortunately dry and not so flavoursome.
I’ll definitely be back! (P.S. the chicken ribs are actually wings. The jerk sauce is superb and I want it on everything.)
For those people wondering what is traditional Aussie cuisine. My answer would be find a country pub, run by its owners and proud of their menu and environment. That is exactly what I felt at the Limerick. Set up for sports days with tv screens everywhere (so don't go for a romantic meal), the food portions were enormous - and very very yummy.
It is the second time I have been. Last time was also to watch a footy game and have a Groupon special - it was fantastic, with the owner getting up from a table where he was watching the footy and helping the staff when they got overloaded. That time there was an open fire. This time it was too warm for a fire.
Love it as a close to CBD example of traditional Aussie pub warmth with fantastic value food options (in the bathroom there was an advertisement for a Monday special: steak, salad, fries and a wine for $7 . . .. sounds crazy). The downside, is my stomach will take a good 24 hours to recover.
Great atmosphere, at the table me of visit... dining area had a bunch of kids running a muck haha they even tried going into the kitchen haha
Anywayz rump steak was very good chargrilled and the entrees had a good selection. The salmon was excellent as well. Bit salty but gooooood! Took awhile to debate which entree to get!! As all were soooo tempting!! Ended up with the calamari and chicken ribs! Thought we did well until I saw the next tables entrees!! Foood envy!! They had the lamb ribs!! Oh maaaan just watching the chubby dude tuck in like there was no tomorrow....
Would definitely come back again if in the area.
I have been here twice and both times the Limerick Arms Hotel has been delicious. The first time that we went, I had the steak and my boyfriend had the parma. He enjoyed the parma but my steak was so good that the second time we visited we both had the steak. We also really enjoyed the poutine.
The staff are friendly. The atmosphere is okay - it would be good if they lit the fire or had some music playing or something to make it a little more comfortable.
Staff were so friendly and accommodating. We came with a groupon booking for lunch. The entrée ribs, calamari and wings were the favourites but everything was delicious and prompt. We swapped one entrée for a salad with some magic salad dressing it was herby and delicious! Steaks were good but not great but sticky date pudding dessert was delicious! I'd come again for the entrées alone!
Wow what amazing portions. Had a three course meal for 4 of us and there was so much food it could barely all fit on the table. Minor hiccup when there was a bit of delay with one of the entrees, poutine. But we were all so well fed with the other entrees that we really weren't fussed. Very generous with seafood in the seafood mains and the lamb rib entree and sauce, as well as chicken ribs were very tasty.
Overall great experience. Will definitely be back if in the area again.
Cosy pub with classy dining options. We used a Groupon voucher which ended up being a very good deal. They were very flexible with their drink and course dish options. We had 2 courses, both entrees were superb - calamari and mussels. We also had the seafood linguine and lamb with cous cous, both of which were well presented. It was overall a very enjoyable experience.
Very generous portions for the chicken parma. The barramundi fish however was a very small and plain dish. A few tomatoes and potatoes on the side. A bit pricy as well. But I liked the vibe of the place and service was good too.
A short hop, skip and a jump for our abode,
we dined here so Mr GoGo could get his fill of Footy. With masses of screens, sports fans will not be disappointed nor will they miss a crow!!
I wondered why we hadn’t dined here before? Service is excellent, the venue is spacious and the food, with massive compliments - was great value. Their chicken Parma is literally big enough to feed a family of 4... Honest - but you have to see it to believe it 😳.
Came in for the Monday night $7 steak special. I had low expectations for such a cheap steak but it was actually really nice and cooked perfectly. It’s quite small but for $7 definitely can’t complain!! Comes with chips and salad and red wine jus. Very friendly staff and quick service, would definitely come here again to try some of the other meals.
I had some disturbingly vivid memories of this place from a few years ago when my cousin didn't want to go back to the UK so signed us up to a speed dating event here in the hopes of meeting someone and securing a visa (don't ask). I was therefore a bit apprehensive when a friend suggested we have dinner here but was willing to give it another go.
The staff were very friendly and it was a warm and inviting environment. Quite a casual atmosphere made for a relaxed evening out. We grazed on chips, dips, prawns and calamari from the 'small' menu which were actually rather filling. A classic style pub with a cosy fireplace, it would be the ideal place to watch the grand final next week if you haven't yet made plans
This pub has everything going for it. Love the venue. Spacious. Decent sized tables and well set apart from fellow diners. Very friendly and efficient staff. TVs viewable from all angles (not that we really watched, but periodically we would pass comment on the tennis). And then the food. Wow. Great calamari. My chicken Parma with the guacamole was so tender. Best I've ever had. And my Waffle - hot, crisp and perfect. Thank you for a great dinner.
Had dinner at the Limerick Arms hotel last night and had a positive experience. The happy hour was really great with a large selection of beers to choose from. The staff were very friendly and attentive to what we needed. We were pressed for time as we arrived late, however, the meals came out quick enough for us to have three courses and make our evening event. The meals were all really tasty and cooked to perfection. We had the dips and pulled pork sliders for entree. For mains we had the Rodriguez parma. The parma was real chicken breast, that had a lovely breadcrumb coating and was a large serving. The chips were yummmy and was hard to just stop at eating a few only. The waffle and sticky date pudding dessert was delicious. The pub is recently renovated and really well done.
You'd have to be extremely hard to please not to appreciate the food coming off the pass here. That with the superb service makes the Limerick well worthy of your hard earned and highly recommended :)
Visited last Wednesday for dinner and was surprisingly busy. Can't complain about the service, they were there when you needed something. I had lamb shank which was good and my husband had the eye fillet steak which he enjoyed...cooked medium which sometimes cooks can get wrong, Bearnaise sauce potatoes and veg. We did order a side of fries which was forgotten but that happens anywhere so no stress over that. Quite a noisy place I think because of the floor boards and busy....Would give it another go.
Yummy pub food, good chilled place. There was also trivia night when we ate that night but didnt have the time to have a look. Will definitely be back!
Great atmosphere, nice n open, lotsof screens around for your footy viewing pleasure lol. Limerick Arms provided a great variety of beers and a few ciders on tap..plus yummy chips n dip! What better way to spend a Saturday arvo!
Makes a great steak with good quality pub options on the new menu. I go here at least once a week for lunch as its relaxing, has friendly staff and the open fire is toasty warm during winter.
Skyhigh paragliding club held their annual awards night here with over 60 people . We had a fantastic night , food was great ,staff helpful , efficient and awesome and all our needs were taken care of by steve the manager .
We will be back :)
Things could only get better & they are... At last someone clearly cares about this prominent South Melbourne Hotel. Drifting aimlessly for years with managers and staff coming and going as frequently as the customers. Things have changed over recent months, the smell has gone, some paint on the walls, staff that care and an improvement in the food. Looks like there a great days ahead for the Limerick.
Did you get a haircut Limerick Arms?. Something is different about this pub since I was here last. I know what it is......the smiles and caring about the customer. New management I think. Will be back with more friends. Thank you
MY FAVOURITE PARMA. Casual Pub with nice big outdoor tables, great quick meeting lunch spot or Saturday soak up. Best Chicken Parma, especially the Mexican one, huge though!!!
Great place for a lazy lunch.
New menus rolled out. Less options available but for pub food it's a good price & portion. Staff always friendly even when they get slammed on trivia night. 2for1 vouchers always accepted (shopa docket)
Good old reliable pub. Yummy pub food at a reasonable cost, cant go wrong here. Not pretentious in any way, still in its traditional style and welcoming of families and all people. A serve of wedges is big enough to share for dinner.
Jack Swan needs a revisit. I read a few of these reviews before deciding on this place and have to say I didn't find grumpy staff. A couple of new faces and they really liven the place up. Loved the service!
Great calamari salad. I'm always on the hunt for an awesome calamari salad and they do a good one here! Would have been even more awesome with a touch of fresh chilli and a slice of lemon....Really nice parmas here too. They do a few variations. They've had the same menu for ages though, change it up Limmerick!
Best Parma!. Nice atmosphere, lovely service and the best parma I have had in Melbourne so far. All the food was great pub food!
Best parmy in Melbourne. Amazzzing!!
Great food, friendly staff. Trivia night Wednesday is great fun
Tuesday night steak night is great value for money. Great venue.
Good pub fare. Ate here last night on a 2for1 shop-a-docket. Parma was tasty, chips ok (a little under cooked) bowl of salad looked a little worse for wear so gave it a miss. Husband had the porterhouse. Cooked nicely although a little grisly. Mushroom sauce was good. Would happily eat here again.
Came in to watch the UFC with some
mates on Sunday, great service, great food, staff really made us feel looked after.
Defiantly coming back soon!
Sun and sparkling wine. Spent the day with a group of friends sipping on a few glasses of sparkling wine. Thanks for looking after us Limerick, can't wait to come back!
Awesome lunch today. Thank.... Awesome lunch today.
Thank you
Just has the Parma.. One of the best I've had.. Ever!
Cool crew here too..
Was pleasantly surprised - the food is actually not bad for standard pub fare. Better than Honey across the road.
Great Value!. This pub is quite an old school trendy venue with outside seating which is great if the weather permits. I have visited the Limerick Arms twice with a voucher from hotdockets which entitled us to a free main meal when another was purchased. Considering the entire meal cost us $37, it was exceptional value. The food was tasty and fresh. Furthermore, the staff were friendly and I was impressed with how accommodating they were for my two young children giving them colour in pictures and pencils. I'll admit that it may be pricey if you are paying full cost but if you can get your hands on a voucher I would definitely recommend.
Great food, really good prices. Service wasn't bad, would definately return :)
The best Cesar salad I have had! Strange vibe at the place! Doesn't have a target crowed that would constantly go there !
Was pleasantly surprised with the good food. Reasonable considering serving size. 💓
The slow cooked lamb chops was $15 for 5 sticks which is great value. ☺️ The calamari was also yuuuum! Of course, parma, you cannot get this wrong, right? So, if you’re in South Melb, give it a go.
P.S the service was also great. 😊
Steve and his crew are fantastic and the Limerick is a great corner pub. Quick friendly service, great menu, tasty food offerings and a fine selection of beer taps!!
Friendly staff, decent pub food. Well air-conditioned and nice decor inside. The only girl on the floor behind the bar was flat chat but was apologetic about the delays and we received our food pretty quickly.
Great pub! Visited on St Patrick’s Day; live music; Guinness and Kilkenny on tap; wonderful lunch; efficient, friendly and ever smiling staff. Have visited many times but St Paddy’s Day was special. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good time.
What a comfy pub. We had a late lunch here on a Wednesday in early January, I think it was about 3pm and they had no problems serving us meals at that time of day. Really good pub food. Great beer selections. Happy, friendly staff. My partner was happy because they had the cricket on their screens ;)
