We had our family Christmas dinner here. We had a 3 course dinner for $45 with a range of dishes to choose from for entree, main and dessert. The food was excellent, I had a pork and turkey ragu vol au vont for entree, toast pork and turkey with vegetables for main and a chocolate and almond tart for dessert. All three courses were served promptly and were very well executed. They have an extensive wine list as well. I am keen to come back and try them another time.
E: 3 course winery meal for $35? Is this a dream? A dream come TRUE, that is.
Sitting on the outskirts of the western suburbs Melbourne, my family and I decided to try this local winery for my brothers birthday. A three-course meal and drink/wine for $35? How could we turn down such a deal?
I started with an entree of penne pasta, chose the Mediterranean chicken for a main (the chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy might I add), and finished with a chocolate mousse for dessert. Speaking on behalf of the dishes I personally ate, Food wise, the quality was quite good. Not incredible, but definitely worth the $35.
The service I will say as definitely above average. The staff were super kind and friendly, welcoming and took note of my lactose intolerance and ensured all three of my meals were adapted to suit.
To sum it up, Galli was a positive experience. Great for a local feast with your immediate family who aren’t too picky or adamant on a fancy meal. Super satisfying and hits the spot if you’re looking for that, fancy-because-it’s-a-winery, but-seeking-a-home-cooked-meal kinda vibe. Also great if you’re always seeking an impressive deal and value for your buck.
Special mention: Galli does provide a wonderful ambience and view overlooking the winery. I would suggest dining around sunset and you can have a beautiful setting to enjoy with your meal!
Food: 3.5/5
Service: 4/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Value: 4/5
Overall: 3.5/5
For my daughter's birthday dinner we selected Galli based on not having been there for years and a desire to go somewhere nice to make up for not being there on the day due to work flights.
The evening started well with cheery and confident wait staff, who not only helped select good dishes but were able to convey to the Chef our daughters need for Gluten free meals. A fresh set of cooking equipment was arranged and new bread brought out quickly, whilst the staff-selected Block II Shiraz to accompany my meal was stunningly good.
Half a dozen Oysters Kilpatrick to start and we weren't dissappointed. A touch hot in heat however flavours and texture spot-on. Dinner was not far behind. A children's meal of Chicken and Chips was solid but very high-quality. My daughter ordered the Kids Seafood and was absolutely amazing in its size, composition and quality. 2 MASSIVE prawns nestled on a bed of chips with beautiful butterfish and squid cooked to perfection. My wife had the French-cut Chicken which, whilst looking very simple, surprised with its rustic presentation and subtle flavours. I ordered the Reef and Beef which, whilst accompanied with 3 prawns who again had clearly been steroid abusers also had a small salad on the side. Steak was right where rare needed to be and prawns were excellent however the jus was not what I expected leaning more towards a gravy flavour and less towards the red wine as advertised. Nonetheless a great meal accompanied by that Shiraz offered earlier.
Dessert to follow was Apple Cake for the lovely wife and my standard Sticky Date Pudding. Mrs A elected to have coffee whilst I asked for a nice Galway port to wash down my SDP.
As an example of Sticky Date Pudding goes this was very very good. The sauce was incredible and the pudding itself wonderful the glutton in me certainly wanted more. Mrs A's Apple Cake was the top student. Light, fluffy, Apple flavored cake with a custard was simply divine and well worth devouring.
I would like to see some spirit of adventure on the menu with most meals being examples of standard fare with better than normal finishing. Some Italian choices like goat or rabbit would be great.
All up the Galli is an excellent choice for diners of all ages with superb quality and great service.
Honestly, the best experience I have had in a long time.
My fiance, sister in law, and her husband chose the set 3 course meal.
All were delicious, we had no complaints.
The entree calamari was cooked perfectly, the calamari was soft, and was a great start to the meal.
The main barramundi was cooked to perfection, and everything on the plate complimented eachother.
The main chicken parma was very tasty.
The chocolate mess dessert was delicious.
The ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful.
The staff were efficient, fast and professional.
I will definetly come again.
I came here for a 50th birthday with meals Pre selected so I would definitely like to go back where I can choose my own entrees and main.
My entree was the tortellini which had no flavour and could have used a little more cooking the lamb for dinner I couldn’t fault it was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing the downfall was it took an hour and a half to get the mains after our entrees were cleared which for me a I could wait but when you have kids that just want to eat it’s a long while to make them wait without food.
Dessert nothing special the birthday cake was better then the dessert that was provided by galli
Nice food. Yummy Almond encrusted crumb on their fish and Parma.Could have easily had bigger servings for the alacarte price. But worth it with their lunch packages
Service was good and the location is well decorated. There was a party on at the time so music was on and the dancefloor was utilised.
Went here for a friends birthday a few weeks ago. So I had entre calamari which was cooked well flavour was a little lacking and minimal sauce and no options for lemon. Mains I had steak which was tough it was supposed to be cooked medium but it felt like it was well done but the flavours were nice. Dessert was the birthday cake which was not supplied by Galli winery. My daughter had pasta for entree which I had tasted and it was yummy I kind of wish it was an option for adults for a birthday function for mains was nuggets and chips she seemed happy with them.
My partner also got the ravioli which he didn't like at all I also had a try and it's definitely not something I would order. Nice venue and very friendly staff. I found the staff very attentive but I do think that maybe the back area should have fencing so that the kids can't run out into the car park or out to the main road. There were a lot of children there not just from our event but from other customers and I saw many kids attempt to run out to the front into the car park where they can also access the main road luckily their parents were there to stop them.
Went to Galli for my mums birthday she often visits this place it's was a Wednesday and they had 3 courses for $30 several options for each course I had the deep fried camembert for entree barrumundi for main and white chocolate mouse meringue and banana for dessert all were beautiful great value prompt service and great food very happy
Went here with my wife and parents for Mothers Day dinner.
A lot of staff on hand as they were expecting a lot of people. The place filled up quickly!
Menu has quite a selection of food and staff are friendly and attentive.
Food came out quickly (in a good way) and their house wine (Cab Sav)...
Great meals for both of us. Gnocchi and the seafood combo. Bravo!
Lovely seafood with a great combination of flavours. Melt in your mouth. Gnocchi was like never had before. Absolutely melted in your palate. Beautiful bottle of red cab merlot with the meal. Staff were knew the business of the menu etc. trainees were on and they did good. Very happy and will be back again
Every time I have been to Galli winery I have not been disappointed with service and quality of food
I have been going there for special family Occassion for over 10 years and usually towards Christmas hard to get a seat
Becky is always there to meet and greet
Heinz who is the head chef supported by his disciplined crew has excellent culinary skills and together function professionally
Fab who overseas the operations of the restaurant manages and understands the business and has his hand on the pulse ( he is a chef too)
Quality and quantity it is better than la porchetta
If you feel it's overpriced you haven't been out much as the food speaks for itself
The day I have a bad meal at Galli winery is the day the world stops spinning( hard to believe)
The Wednesday special was a big hit for the family gathering. All three courses were delicious, well presented and generous. Obviously, an extensive wine list is available at Galli......spoilt for choice in every way. The service was spot on too......
Dined for lunch in April. My review is a bit late but we dined as a couple for lunch on a Saturday and both had great meals. The place was pretty busy with big group bookings but it still felt spacious and the waitresses were attentive. I will be back.
Fantastic place. I've been here a few times this year, each time for Sunday lunch. The place is usually very busy with functions but everyone is spaced out sufficiently so the fact that it is very crowded isn't an issue. Food is always fantastic, as is the service. Looking forward to my next visit for lunch. The barramundi baked with herb and almond is magnificent, as is the lemon tart. Will definitely be back.
Never disappoints!. Always great service and lovely food. It's a nice night out for any occasion. Will always go back.
Decent meals. Meeting with friends for a 630 Diner I was surprised to find them sitting in the side room that I believed seemed like it was made for a private party. Turns out the main restaurant area had a engagement. It slightly ruined some of the atmosphere for myself as it seemed really distant to what I had I imagined my dining experience. Once a few more tables arrived for their bookings it didn't feel as bad and I warmed a little more to the seating plan. The food was good. Entree - Valencia Chorizo with red onion, chilli, parsley and bread . I didn't like it and was overpriced for what you receive. The chorizo flavour was below average and the sauce had an odd aftertaste I didn't find the harmony in this dish at all. The bread was a pita style bread very crunchy you couldn't scoop up the sauce or onion/chorizo . The chorizo was cut in length pieces it would just fall off the bread with every bite you took. It was a continuos battle between bread and plate. I do not recommend this meal at all. Main : Fettuccine Ragu
Fresh fettuccine pasta tossed through a Flinders Island saltbush lamb Ragu.
Garnished with Italian parmesan cheese.
This was a great meal I feel the portion size was pretty good and the ragu was tender but for my liking needed a touch more seasoning and or Parmesan cheese. This was a very homely tasting meal and equivalent to a good home made pasta dish. If you want fancy or restaurant style try something different. Dessert - lemon tart. Was really nice but didn't have the tang and zing I had hoped for.
Overall it was a decent meal and I would come back again to try something different. My hubby ordered the lamb loin he really enjoyed the lamb loin and it was recommended by the waitress. Hubby tried some of our friends meals and mentions from our tables meals : sticky date pudding great, veggies as sides could be cooked better, steak ok, barramundi good, risotto good, pork ok.
Visited the Galli twice now and both times have left impressed, yum food and exceptional service, we will return!
Pretty Good. The three course Wednesday special is great value, but quite popular so book in advance. The pumpkin and sweet potato soup is the best soup I've ever had! Yummo! Really friendly staff and professional service. Quite pricey on a regular day though.
Galli for lunch. Had a Wed lunch the other day. Welcoming, attentive staff. The domed hangar shape of the building makes it bright and open. Chairs in the main dining area are a little uncomfortable for me. Great atmosphere and food was of good quality. Choc mouse was sensational.
Nice night out, food not mod
But had much worse in this area
Really really nice!!!. I've heard really nice things about the food here so i decided to come and try it out and it was lovely. The place looks nice and the big fireplace warms up the whole place. we were welcomed by staff and they were all so nice to us. Our glass of wine arrived within 3 minutes after ordering it and the staff was really helpful with suggesting che chef's recomendations. We orded oysters kilpatrick witch were the best i've had so far. Our mains were yummy and the perfect size to make you feel full but not overloaded. Then we had the most beautiful crepe, with banana, caramel sauce and icecream and cream, It was delicious. Our experience was really good and have decided to have many other dinners there and will def reccomend it to anyone that asks me about it. :)
Wear an elasticated waistband!. Been to this restaurant 3 times and never been disappointed, the meals are good value and you get heaps of food for the price. The Wednesday and Friday night special's are particuarly good value. The staff are friendly and attentive.
Love, Love it!. Have been to Galli on 3 occasions & LOVE IT! Private function dinner, work break up party and Christmas in July! All wonderful experiences. (Although, yes the staff can be a little slow). But the owner is so friendly and the food & WINE divine. And the atmosphere of the place, you just can't beat it. The beautiful big fire place was perfect on our freezing visit. Hope to be back soon.
Have dined here many times & have always had great meals - just recently we celebrated my daughters baptism here & all we had were compliments.
People could not believe how beautiful the restaurant is when they walk in & then how amazing the food was.
Thank you Galli!
Came here for a girl's lunch. This was the first time coming here .
The staff were very friendly and helpful. A little disappointed that the winery isn't open for tastings on the weekend.
I love that the table was big like a round table but square so we were all able to talk I stead of whoever was sitting next to you.
I had the French cut chicken which was delicious and the lemon tart.
Will definitely come back again!
Had dinner there last Wednesday night with friends. The 3 course meal was lovely, and being half price on a Wednesday night, have to say it was worth it. My only gripe is that they offer a glass of house wine and the only options are a red and dry white. I don't drink either of those so got the red for my husband. It would be nice if they could offer a sweet wine for those that don't or can't drink the options on offer.
Held our son's Christening there after my MIL and FIL took us for Father's day this year. Vegan and vegetarian friendly and very accommodating for our function. The food was wood quality and served with silver service. House wines and other sections are lovely. Tempranillo was great. The owner sat us down and chatted about needs and wants, even the seating selection. Good for babies and kids as well. We have gone back since and it is always friendly and welcoming.
I love to dine at Galli Winery regularly. 3 course dinner specials on Wednesday and Friday evenings attract me. Restaurant owner, Fab and staff remember names and faces and always make time for a greeting or a chat. Great place to meet friends and group get togethers.
