Tucked away on Hardware lane along with other famous brunches places! It looked absolutely gorgeous inside which led to high expectations. Unforunately, it's safe to say they didn't really meet them.
We got Cured Salmon & Avo ($22), Chili & Crab Scrambled Eggs ($21), Glazed Beef Cheeck ($26). In terms of taste, Chili & Crab Scrambled Eggs was somewhat of a predictable taste. In fact, it wasn't as flavourful as I'd expect it to be. Even though it was creamy and juicy, considering how it's $21, it was way too plain and banal. Cured Salmon and Avocado was decent. Salmon was juicy and savoury. Kale crisp was an interesting addition too - never expected it to taste so good.Glazed Beef Cheek essentially looked just like something you'd get at a nice streak restaurant. Came out with potatoe hash, asparagus, and parsnip puree. Beef was juicy overall.
I personally don't think it deserves 4.5 star on Zomato. Interior-wise, it was modern and chic but actual brunch themselves tasted very standard and mundane. Nothing special about them. In fact, only thing that really stood out to me was the wait staff. They were absolutely friendly and attentive despite of how busy it was.
I visited recently with friends, a friend of suggested we come here and I am glad that he did!
A really good menu and a beautiful interior, Ten Square will be sure to put a smile on your dial.
I ordered the miso braised pork shoulder eggs benny which was amazing, wow omg what a dish! The waffle added an interesting and yum component which you don't often find with an eggs benny. My coffee was perfect and my friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals too.
A must visit if you are in the area.
Lovely staff, fast service
Chicken and waffle was good and super filling.
Can’t go wrong with a good Egg Benny.
We will be back for the hot cake!
Hardware Lane is one of my favourite foodie destinations in the city, and Ten Square is a standout amongst the other great venues on this strip. It's prime location, and fantastic ambience make it a real pleasure to dine in. With plenty of seating inside and out, and a pretty, light and modern interior; the decor is fabulous with marble tables and lots of greenery. Staff are amazing, making you instantly feel welcome and more than happy to make suggestions about the menu.
Perusing the menu over a fabulous green juice and coffee, I realised it was going to be a tough decision. There are so many great options, and although the savoury dishes were extremely appealing, I decided upon two sweet dishes.
The black sesame panacotta truly is spectacular. This huge plate looks stunning, with a jet black panacotta surrounded by vibrant fresh fruits and homemade granola. It really is art on a plate; but rather than being style over substance, this dish is actually delicious as well. I loved the nutiness of the panacotta, and of course, it's creamy, velvety texture. The fruit was fresh and plentiful, and the granola added lots of crunch and a yummy caramel flavour. So light, and perfect for summer; this plate really was divine.
Never one to pass up pancakes, I was never going to say 'no' to date hotcakes. I'm so glad I didn't as this dish was fabulous. Definitely my favourite pancake in recent times, this baby was huge, fat and fluffy. Rather than a stack, it was one big pancake. Served with poached pear, fresh berries, mascarpone, crumble and a jug of butterscotch sauce; this decadence really was dessert for breakfast. Full of amazing dates, the hotcake itself was so full of flavour, but not too sweet either. It's a huge portion, and perfect for sharing. The fresh fruits were a great balance, and this really is my favourite dish of late.
If you are looking for brunch in the CBD, you would be wise to check Ten Square out. The dishes here are things of beauty, and so appealing to the eye. However, once you dive in, you will realise that the flavours are all there; and everything is as good as it looks. Amazing food, excellent coffee, and fabulous service all in a pretty location make Ten Square the whole package, and definitely worthy of it's great reputation.
Best coffee I’ve had in a long time, and the service was so lovely and attentive. The braised mushrooms are not something I’d usually order but I took a chance and it was an amazing dish!
The dates pancakes at ten square is the best pancakes I’ve ever had in Melbourne. You must try them! The texture of crunchy, sweet, fluffy and fruity texture is just really perfection! The other dishes that are worth recommending as well is the creative black sesame panna cotta, the poke bowl and the fragrant mushroom dish. They are all cooked with such care and great flavours. The staff are so friendly and always ready to help you out. Amazing place
Highly recommend this inviting and very cute cafe in the heart of city, hardware lane. They have heaps of seating both inside and outside with the nicest marble tables. Was amazed by the choice on the menu, with alcoholic beverage options and a range of sweet and savoury dishes.
For drinks we had a skinny cappuccino and two cacao and banana smoothie which were smooth and very delish. We ordered the black sesame panna cotta granola, date hotcakes, salmon poke bowl and mushrooms with polenta. The flavour of black sesame is only something I have had as ice cream but not panna cotta, so it was a first for me. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet, melted in the mouth and complimented well with the granola and fruit (strawberries, kiwi and dragon fruit). The hotcake was a winner for sure as it was cakey, indulgent and perfectly sweet with the butterscotch sauce, honeycomb and berry cream on top. The poke bowl is the perfect healthy dish with the salmon presented like roses and the side of soy sauce was ideal. Lastly was the mushrroms served on polenta which was my favourite of the savoury and made me crave polenta. The mushrooms were in a tasty sauce and the polenta was so soft and creamy. Could talk about this spread for ages!!!
When in Melb CBD you definitely have to give this cafe a visit for friendly service and great brunch.
We loved the service, cleanliness but most importantly the food. My partner had the braised mushrooms on polenta & I had the ham hock croquettes on kale with hollandaise & we thoroughly enjoyed our dishes. The coffee was excellent. We will definitely return.
Good place for lazy breakfast
Have been wanting to try Ten Square for awhile now. Happy that I did. Vegan, vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free available. The menu is a bit on the pricer side, however, it’s not over the top.
🍽 braised mushrooms - soft and silky polenta. Not gluggy. The mushrooms had a nice flavour.
Fried chicken & cornbread waffle - not your average waffle as it tasted like cornbread. Some reviews say they were dry however I didn’t think that. Plus, it comes with a thyme infused maple so that adds some moisture.
Date hot cakes - having date in the name I thought the pancakes would be very sweet. however, the sweetness was balanced. The hot cakes were thick and fluffy and very filling.
☕️ iced chocolate + strawberry, açai, blueberry smoothie.
Absolutely loved this cute brunch spot and their aesthetic dishes.
We tried their Beef Burger, Soba Noodle Salad
and Date Hotcake. The hotcakes were so delicious and so beautifully presented.
They have a good range of drinks on their menu too. We had their Watermelon, apple, lime fresh juice and Grapefruit House Soda to pair with our meal. Would definitely visit again!
We had a great brunch here, nothing to fault! Coffee and food were both delicious, with cute latte art on every cup. The food menu was interesting and understandable. The staff were friendly and helpful, offered us the time we needed to order and eat, offered share plates and water, and were patient with my split payment. Decor and mood are lovely. Will come again next time we’re in Melbourne!
Ten Square in Hardware Street is tucked away from the city crowds. You’ll find a variety of yummy meals, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. We had the Fried Chicken and Cornbread Waffle and the Eggs Benny. The fried chicken was on point and even better when drizzled with the maple syrup. And the Benny was delish - especially the pulled pork. Only a short stroll from Melbourne Central - a great breakfast, brunch or lunch spot 😋❤️
Ten Square is one of my favourite go to cafes in the CBD, located in Hardware st. It never disappoints. Took my parents here, and the food was delicious. Staff are so friendly, and the hotcakes look amazing : )
This is such a lovely cafe to go for brunch in the Melbourne CBD! Went here during Sunday which was quite busy. Staff was super friendly and attentive! 💕 My favourite is the Dates hotcake! It’s so yum, packed with flavours and has a nice crunch texture at the bottom! The eggs Benny tasted delish too! Loved the pulled pork and went well with the onion jam.
Presentation was just amazing! Loved the latte art on my matcha drink and how the dishes were beautifully presented! 🥰 Will definitely be back again!
Ordered:
- Date Hotcakes
- Eggs Benny
- Matcha Latte
Food was amazing, one of the best brunches out there. Great coffee and good vibes too.
Highly recommend the cured salmon and avo on toast and the miso pulled pork eggs Benny.
The wait was around 30-40min on a public holiday but the service was friendly and staff are energetic.
