A Very Restful Hotel A friend and I dined here at the Lindrum Hotel in Felt Restaurant this evening and it was overall a most pleasant and restful experience. We had a 6pm booking and as the room was empty at our arrival we had a choice of tables. We chose a corner banquette table and it was really comfortable with nice views of the room. Total seating was for about 40, and there was a generous space between the tables, so, as the room filled we did not feel crowded and the noise level remained low. Whomever designed the ground floor foyer, bar, restaurent, and pool room did an excellent job with the very small footprint. The fittings are quality modern, designed for unobtrusive comfort. The dark woods, muted cloth, and glowing velvets work very quietly together to relax you. The whole ambience was murmurous. Not loud in any way, and invited you to stay a little longer. Even the well chosen background music was pitched at a level that allowed unobstructed conversation. We started in the restaurant with sparking water and imported beers, and chose a very reasonably priced shared menu to browse the quality of the food offerings. Overall our dining experience was about 3.5 stars, there was something just a little unfinished about each dish. The food was pleasant but not great. My favourite dishes were the asparagus served with beet pieces and tiny croutons, and the porkbelly main. We asked and were able to swap the triple chocolate mousse dessert for a trio of sorbets which ended the meal on a refreshing note. We moved to the bar to finish our evening with pots of tea, on the enveloping comfort of the copper silk velvet couch. And we were able to pay our collective bill for both restaurent and bar at the close of the evening with a single transaction. Total for the evening was just on $200 for a seven course tasting menu for two, two large bottles of sparkling water, two imported beers and two pots of T2 tea. The bathrooms were all immaculately clean, and stocked with nicely scented soaps and hand gels. Everything was very accessible for those with mobility issues, with more than enough room to move and manoeuvre. Even to having an unobtusive wheelchair lift easily accessible at the short flight of front steps of the hotel. And an extra wide front door. The service staff were all welcoming and friendly and yet not intrusive. But there was somehow a lack of crispness about the service. I think perhaps they might have been a little understaffed. However there was nothing at all to complain about and the staff were very responsive to requests or questions. We had a relaxing and enjoyable interlude here feeling very welcomed. I can imaging that residential guests would be very loyal customers. The comfort just sort of crept up on you. We thought we would try out the high tea next time.

ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE MORE FOR THE AMBIANCE THAN THE FOOD Dined with a very fussy friend at Felt for the first time on a Thursday evening. My friend arrived first and grabbed the table by the window. The restaurant entrance is via steps (wheelchair lift also available) and through a rather grand doorway. The restaurant is within the Lindrum Hotel and blends in seamlessly with the other parts of the hotel ground floor. We went for the selection plate which consisted of a selection of small dishes served sequentially. The dishes were all fine... but not five star quality. They lacked a little on presentation and creativity. The waitress kindly changed the dessert option for us as my fussy friend wasn't keen on what sounded like a delicious chocolate dessert!! She organised three gelato bowls instead. The service was good - unobtrusive, anticipatory and .. as my fussy friend spilt food on herself, the waiter was there in an instant with a cloth :) We accompanied the food with Asian beers and sparkling water and later adjourned to the very comfortable couch in the bar area to have a cup of tea to end the meal. All up for the two of us it came to approximately $200. The interior decoration is very tasteful. It's not noisy and the hussle and bussle of the kitchen is hidden from you. People with mobility issues will be fine once they negotiate the steps and the rather heavy front door as the restaurant, bar and toilets are all on the one level. Everything is very well maintained and it's really quite pleasant just soaking up the atmosphere. We'll go again and try an a la carte selection instead of the selection plate.. or perhaps the high tea which looked very tempting in the photographs on the menu! This would be a good choice for a quiet dinner for two, a small group, or even dining alone.

Its a small restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. We went here on a friday night and the service was outstanding! Small but good menu options. The olive nibbles were not pitted, which i thought was very strange. The steak was very good. The Hapuka was nice too. The rhubarb crumble was not. The creme brulee was good. Price is high compared to the quality of food. They take AccorPlus memberships. Overall we had a good meal

Cute and intimate dining room. Extremely friendly staff that is known for going above and beyond. Nice place for a quiet meal alone or date night (breakfast or lunch). Definitely recommend the Barramundi with a glass of the Heathcoate Shiraz.

Great food and really good serving sizes. As we live close by, we go one to two times a month. The only feedback is that they are often one staff short so service can be slow and drinks take a while to be refilled

Worst food and customer service. Wish could give you zero star. Went into the restaurant at 9.40 pm asked them if it was enough time for food at the start they said it was fine but it was a worst customer service as they wanted to close at 10.00. Food was burnt, got changed but still got the same. Never ever I will go there.

Quiet peaceful ambience to dine in with personalised service. Food is delicate, looks good, taste good, healthier selection is available which i like.
