If I ever get stranded on a deserted island, the 3 food groups I would want to have with me would be bubble tea, doughnuts and HSP! And CBD Kebabs' version of HSP is right up there with the best.
They were very generous with everything. Lots of fresh crispy chips, a mountain of delicious meat and lashings of excellent sauce. The combination resulted in a carb high.
The folks serving us were nice and friendly too. And with long opening hours, this place has a lot going for it.
Trying this kebab shop for the first time after searching for best kebab in Melbourne and found this is one of the recommended ones from a few blogs. I ordered the small HSP (not sure why it’s called this). The lamb is thinly sliced and juicy. But after awhile I find it too heavy without vegetables or bread to balance the taste. Also I felt very thirsty for the rest of the day. It’s a negative point for me.
I have had many HSPs (Halal Snack Pack) and Kebabs in 3 years that I have been in Melbourne. It is cheap, filling and one of the best comfort food on the streets available till late at night. Since the time I’ve started eating from CBD Kebab, I have not found any other one as good as them. The meat is always flavourful and juicy. I always order a mix HSP and a mix Kebab, mix in this case if a mix of lamb meat and chicken, and you can differentiate between both the meats just by smelling it. The smell makes the flavor even better and it just makes everything tastier.

Kebab store in the city.
Situated next to Viva, it's just a small stall with no seats. Staffs were friendly and food didn't take long.
Had the lamb kebab and it was quite yummy. Size was generous, veggies were fresh and wrap was toasted well. I do think the kebab meat was bit too floury/soft and prefer ones with ones that have a meaty bite to it, as with my dad.
Chips though were great, nicely fried and generous.
Overall a great place for some takeaway kebabs especially late late at night (or morning lol).

Pretty decent place, the staff are friendly too. I ordered the HSP and it was very nice, they put alot of meat in there. However the cheese was kinda lacking, I expect way more then what they gave me
As I read through the previous reviews raving about kebabs and HSP's, of which I cannot speak of as it is not what I ordered... I ordered the humble cheese and spinach Gozleme.Partly because I knew it would keep and travel the best through by Uber eats trip, and because it is exactly what I wanted.
It arrived packed to the rim, piping hot and the filling plenty. The borders retain a crisp crunch and centres are not doughy.
For its price, size and quality, the is a beautiful for goz.
I wanted a Turkish shawarma the way I used to have it when I was living in Qatar. Not exactly what I was looking for but I had a very nice mix kebab. Clean, friendly staff, good and fast service. Everything you're looking for in a food joint. Haven't tried their HSP and all the sauces, so will def come back.
I went to grab food at CBD Kebabs with a friend before seeing a show a few weeks back — a pretty delayed review.
CBD Kebabs is a small fast food place (Turkish-Australian) located on Flinders St, but boy, I’m pretty sure this place is always packed during lunch and dinner hours, or even midnight. During lunch hours, I usually see school and uni kids lining up outside of CBD Kebabs, or night time with people before or after partying. I’d say it’s because they offer a fairly pocket-friendly deals — they even have big promotional signs on the exterior. They’re sited next to a similar kebab place, but what got me into buying meals from this place was their kebab and HSP price and deals promotional signs when I came across it — $9 Kebab, $13 HSP along with the container to show how big it is.
They sell a range of kebabs (lamb, chicken, etc), Gozleme, Burger, Halal Snack Pack (HSP), Baklava and Turkish Delight for a small dessert, and heaps of extras and sauces options. Most food vary from $5-$15: considerably cheap compared to other kebab place I’ve been to. Looking at photos on Zomato, HSP is probably their best-selling meal.
I ordered 1 HSP to share, and my friend ordered the mix kebab and it took less than 5 minutes for them to get the food ready. The wait staff was nice too, he told us how long the waiting time will be, etc — good customer service for a fast food place. My HSP was yummo, equal portion of chips and meats, or even I think the meat was slightly more than the chips. The kebab was soft and delicious, heaps of meat inside too.
I’d go back to grab food from here again. Good price, good food, quick and good service for a fast food place — perfect for when you’re in a hurry or after cheap meals.

Taste nice. Pretty cheap! I like how they are so generous with the food. Whenever im hungry at late night, i always order it whenever i feel bored or sad. Will recommend this food to another friend in future.
The best HSP in town. I tried the Mix Hsp with Mayo, sweet chilli & garlic sauce. The chicken was of premium quality & the quantity was also great in $13 pricing.

THE BEST HSP IN MELBOURNE❤️❤️❤️ very good portion wise and price wise. The person who always take my order is super nice, he let me take any kind of soda or water for $1 (since i was their first customer of the day).
THIS ONE IS A MUST🔥🔥🔥

Love their HSP. Got mine with mixed lamb and chicken, mayo, cheese, sweet chili, and garlic.
The best HSP in Melbourne in my opinion. ❤️❤️
Price is not that expensive since it is fulfilling and great for sharing with family and/ or friends.
Food : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was craving for a Kebab for a long time and it was so good to have this one
Price : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Generous in portion size - Cheap - Great value compare to others.
Service : ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Friendly staff
Ambience : ⭐️⭐️ Very small but they still have room to eat inside.
HSP was on point!! Ordered a mixed meat large HSP. The meat soft and juicy as it ideally should be. The serving portion was good value. One of the best HSPs you can get in Melbourne for sure.
I have never had hsp better than this. Ever. This is the good stuff right here. The meat isn't dry, the chips aren't too potato-y. The barbecue sauce is a bit tangy tho, I usually don't take it. The people who work there are nice and fun too, I have had interesting experiences. Definitely my go to kebab place.
Their kebabs and HSP are very generous in portion size compared to any other local kebab stores I’ve been to. I had the lamb kebab once and it was filled with lots of fresh lettuce and onions, and the meat are plentiful. Same with the HSPs !! I ordered a small $9 and when It came out - OMG!!! The meats were nearly falling out of the box cos there was a lot... The cheese layer melted underneath and lastly the chips. Although I ordered a small size but I had to share it with my bf and we were quite satisfied with it. A good quick fix at night as they are open late. Highly recommended than Viva kebabs which were next door - I felt like CBD Kebabs should get a little bit more attention :)
Decent kebabs that deserve more love. Viva kebabs have new owners/management and force you to have mixed kebabs when the meat is plenty. Go to CBD kebabs and get a fast HSP/kebab since Viva has a longer line, living off the reputation from the previous owners. CBD kebabs deserves some love.
my friend and i got two small HSPs which has hugeee portions for a single size. but taste, the crunchiness of of chips, and the amount is just perfect.
First time trying HSP with friends! $12 for Regular and $8 for Small! We ordered $12 Mix with hot chili and BBQ sauce! Super delicious! Perfect for grab and go!

We were first introduced to the HSP, well theory of it, through a guy I worked with for a group therapy project (it went great btw, and we're still fb friends), and he invited me to join the fb group. Though it took us quite a year to find someone to team up with and actually get a HSP, long after the trend, though the lines aren't slowing down anytime soon.
We were wandering down the bottom end of Flinders Street and went past this hole in the wall. Two side by side - didn't know how to choose so started on the left. Turkish run with two friendly, yet sweaty blokes in the kitchen. Went for the HSP and it hit the absolute spot. Chips, cheese, mixed meats and various sauces were just what the doctor ordered. $14 for halal happiness with a can of Coke. Do it!!!
A small shop located in front of Melbourne Aquarium. They have been doing the business since 2005 and surely that they are experienced in this business. The service was great, friendly and very efficient.
There was the time where they had promotion $6.00 kebab (chicken, lamb, mix) circa mid 2016. The place was always full of people and became the favorite place to go for everyone around CBD area to indulge their tummy at night. Now, it is back to normal which is $8.00 but It is still good value of money as you will get generous portion and great quality. I believe they are the cheapest in Melbourne CBD for this good quality.
We ordered mix kebab using garlic and chilli sauce, we really enjoyed the kebab. It was just a perfect combination, meats served were really fresh as well as the vegetables. The meat was not over-burnt, pretty much we had good time in every single bite.
The place might look not so promising but the taste of the kebab was great. It's highly recommended kebab place to go :)
Yay : Generous portion and good value
Nay : Take away only
Location : Shop 2, 546, Flinders Street, CBD, Melbourne, VIC
Never liked HSP because it was overly sweet and sickening before you get half way through it. This time I omitted the bbq sauce and it was fine. Super crispy chips and the portion was enough for one. These guys also do a decent kebab if you're HSPed out.
I've only been here once for the grailed 'best hsp in Melbourne' and even though I only have one shitty photo I can confirm, it is the best hsp in Melbourne (cbd at least).
Great HSP's, quick service! Portion was very generous. Wish there was some seating but isn't a huge issue. Will be back to try the kebabs next!

This little place is a good location on one of Melbourne’s main thoroughfares. And let’s be honest. Kebabs and HSPs are great drunk food. Something to consume to help you sober up. And this location is near the intersection of quite a few pubs. I could see this place being really busy. Even though there isn’t much room on the outside and on the street, it’s service was so quick, that you could definitely do a quick order and pick up and be on your merry way.
CBD Kebabs is a tiny little eatery that serves up cheap and tasty meals to go. No place for dining, its set up for quick service and turnover. Meals are generously sized and delicious, but not for the health conscious. Perfect food to end a drunken night in the city. Halal Snack Pack $12. Fast, cheap and very satisfying. Generous with the amount of saucy toppings and plenty of meat to even share between two. Greasy but hits the spot. 8/10
By far the beat HSP in Melbourne. They are the trend setters. Haven't tried the other kebab options but the HSP rules it - don't need to go past that.
The place gets really busy during weekends, starting friday night. So its a good idea to go there early.
The kebabs were heavenly. I had the mix kebabs and loved them, especially the chicken kebab. Convenient because it opened till late night...
Came here on a Friday for lunch. Bit of a crowd around to order the popular HSP and other kebabs. I saw a sign on the window advertising HSP with cheese for $12. It was my first "hsp" and it was great. I remember a local kebab shop selling something similar about 15 years ago (small, medium & large kebab and chips with sauce back in the day and would get it often) Back to CBD kebabs now and with the hsp you get the option to add cheese which i did and sauces. I went for chillin and garlic. Decent serve which i polished off easy cos i was starving. Tasted great. Only next time is i might ask for less chilli sauce because it was to overpowering. But overall awesome feed and will be back for more. Only negative about the place is no where to eat so need to go for a walk and find somewhere to eat.
.........
Came back here again. I said i was going to get same order but ask for less chilli sauce. Instead i went for the holy trinity. Bbq, chilli & Garlic sauces. These worked really well together and the chilli sauce wasn't so overpowering this time. Same big serve as last time. For $12 can't go wrong. Managed to get a pic this time around as well. Even though it doesn't look pretty. The taste is awesome.
The most amazing snack box I had in Melb ; better than Hawthorn grill house. 🖖🏼 will
Be coming back for sure. The roll was a bit spicy for my liking but my friends loved it. Friendly gentleman hands over the order 😇 every time 👍🏼
Great kebabs, chips and HSPs! Would definitely return for more. Chips are seasoned to perfection and the lads in there are absolutely lovely. :)
Great tasty fresh cheap kebabs, friendly service. Chips were crisp and well seasoned. 10 out of 10 would and will definitely be going again!
Had my first ever HSP here!
The meat was slightly dry, chips were crunchy, sauces were plenty. Quite a long wait and no seating at all. Worth it if you want to follow the HSP trend.
Wait time: 10-15 mins (mine was around 15 - since it was busy)
What I got: Chicken kebab with the lot and garlic sauce
What I thought of service: Decent
Busyness: It was pretty peaking
Verdict: Probably the best kebabs in the city
Their rivalry is right next door which is madly amusing but their menu can be seen at the front of their store on the right side. It's downright small and whatever you expect what this store will look like, lower them.
Honestly, I think their kebabs are the best in city (yet to try others). They toast it with everything inside, so expect your wrap to be on the hard crunchy side. Although, the smell of the kebab was bloody awesome and taste was too good to be true.
You definitely get what you pay for, they're only $8! 😌
Had my first ever HSP here. Was absolutely amazing!! Good value for money, very generous serving that will keep you full for days. The only issue is that there is a long wait especially on Saturday night.
Value for price! You get both quantity and quality! Been eating these kebabs for a little over a year now. Never dissappointed. May not be the BEST around... But delicious and satisfies the tummy. Friendly and lovely staff too.
So its a very small shop , Actually two shops are together for the kebabs , But I think a lot of people were standing outside this one so we decided to go here for the kebabs. I took the Falafals with the choice of sauces. and the falafels were not dry which was a relief . I loved the sauces. My friend took chicken kebabs in the roll, It tasted well but I think his sstomach was upset the whole night because of these . I loved my falafel kebab roll. It was really delicious. VFM : The roll was around 9 dollars which was pretty good.
Halal snack packs were the in thing a while ago but I only just discovered it! For $12 you get a truckload of fries with your choice of lamb/chicken/mix meat topped with three sauces of your choosing. If you don't know what sauce to get, just let the guys behind the counter to recommend you some! There is another kebab shop right next door that sells the same thing but for a higher price.
Cbd kebabs put the work in for every dollar you will spend on their kebabs, service has always been cheerful and positive for the last 6 years ive stopped by this gem
The Swine was very dubious when he saw a sign for 6 dollar Kebabs on Flinders St (aquarium end) okay the dodgey end of town. LOL. Come on, 6 dollars for a kebab in the city is unheard of. While this won't be the best kebab in town - but after tryin, the Swine can say this is not bad at all. Size is normal - its not kids sized. Its not packed but works great for the price. Staff here are nice enough and work tirelessly getting these suckers out to customers. Ingredients looked fresh and the Swine isn't feeling sick just yet. THAT'S A WIN! The school kid rush at around 3.30pm is all over this 6 dollar caper. The place next door has 10 dollar kebabs if you get frightened. SWINE ALERT - Cheap foody option - get on it.
I tried a mix (lamb and chicken) kebab at CBD Kebabs. It's a tiny restaurant and storefront right on Flinders. We tried it out since there was a group of people crowded around the store waiting to order or for their food. The kebabs are only $6 and generously sized so it was worth trying. Right beside them is another kebab vendor, so I suppose the competition is why the prices are now lower. Only 1 person was working and there were 8 orders within the few minutes we waited, but the wait wasn't too long. The kebab comes with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and choice of 2 sauces. Anything else is extra. The kebab was of average quality. I thought it was a little salty, but I wasn't sure if it was the meat or the sauces I chose.
I live near by this shop and it's my first time trying here.
This is just aaamazing! The best kebab i have had ever! It made me to write this review to share this info :)
ADDED NOTE in March 2016: This joint has a price war going on with the kebab stall that's literally next door. CBD is charging $6 for its sanger, and the newcomer beside it wants $10. I still stand by the review below that I wrote two years ago, but the cheaper price makes CBD's bog-standard kebabs a better deal. I live nearby and have watched this place outlast two other fast food operations in that next space over. So they must be doing something right.
I like kebabs even when I'm not drunk (not that I get drunk all that often these days anyway.) Ever since tripping across City Kebabs and reading good reviews of one of its sister kebab shops, I've wanted to try it. I got a lamb kebab ($8.50) and it wasn't bad, just not too special. The meat is one of those evenly textured composite logs, the ones that seem kinda they're made of plastic (not that they're rubbery or anything) because they're so uniform. No fatty chunks like Lamb's souvlakis, but no charred edges or extra-flavourful parts. It's the sort of meat that the counter guy trims off with an electric shaver. He gave me a meaty kebab in a lavash-style wrap, heavy on the red onions (I like those) and a good squirt of garlic mayo. I liked it well enough, but it didn't stand out from a dozen similar sangers I've eaten over the years. You can upgrade with tabbouleh, extra meat, cheese and other additions, but I don't go for paying ++ prices for my kebab.
