Review Pacific Seafood Bbq House - Melbourne

Short Melbourne trip after Christmas: focusing on takeaway meals and outdoor dining only in order to reduce covid risks šŸ˜…. Takeaway dinner from one of our favorites - Pacific Seafood BBQ House in Richmond. Reliably good food šŸ™‚. Amazingly fast service too - we called to order and arrived in 10 minutes, and the food was ready šŸ˜®šŸ˜®. . Roast duck. Spinach in garlic sauce. Seafood hotpot. Pork ribs in Peking sauce. . Can't fault any of the dishes. They're all excellent as usual šŸ˜œ.

Absolutely love this place. A very popular place in Richmond. The food was so fresh and tasty and the price was reasonable. We had the Lobster which as you would expect on the high side but if we didn't have that we would have definitely been paying much less. Peking duck, roast duck, xo pipi and fried rice were so reasonable. The service was spot on and all the food tasted delicious. We will definitely be coming back to try the steamed fish and other specialties

The best Chinese BBQ and seafood place....full stop! Authentic experience and amazing flavours. We had the Szechwan Chicken and 3 roasts. Our third visit and never disappoints. Juicy tender and well seasoned flavours. Traditional style cooking. Do not miss !

Well let me start by saying that the food here is excellent. The issue is customer service is just poor and they bribg food out in instalments, the rice arrived way before the prawns and other dishes then to make it worse the Peking duck arrived with the other dishes. So at this point we had to choose which dish we would prefer cold. If they can do some staff training the place would be perfect.

Loved it! Really miss authentic Chinese cuisine ever since we were in lockdown. Must try the Pork Belly cooked with Pineapple, Roast Duck & Stewed Pork Belly. Simply amazing

Chinese comfort food. Duck on rice, bitter melon with black bean. Shame they donā€™t do the complimentary soup anymore. Food still top notch. Iā€™ve always found lunchtime great for a quick meal.
Julie
Authentic Chinese food, better than Chinatown. Service is quick & staff are friendly. Highly recommend booking ahead.

Must try, highly recommend. Authentic, fast service. All dishes are delicious.

Love this place for quick pick up takeaway of BBQ pork and duck. <br/>I have slipped on two occasions when stepping down out of this restaurant though as the pavement is very slippery there when wet. <br/>

Hands-down the best roast pork Iā€™ve eaten Melbourne. The pork skin was so crunchy, the meat was tender and season perfectly.<br/><br/>šŸ—“ Visited in May 2018

My fave comfort food place in Melbourne. Always great food, great service, and unlike most chinese restaurant, this one is super clean just like a 4 stars restaurant.<br/><br/>This place needs a heritage protection!! Must be preserved for future generations šŸ˜<br/><br/>Roast duck, combo beancurd and roast pork with salted fish, the congee, chilli crab and mantau, claypot pork belly ā¤ļø

The best comfort food in Melbourne! You can never go wrong ordering food here, especially roast duck, roast chicken, crispy skin pork and all kind of seafood dish. Free delicious soup when eating in. Friendly service too!

The soup is good. Other dishes are too salty.

Pros: crab claws were not the typical ones you get at weddings, it had real crab shreds in it! All bbq meats were perfection. One of the best places for it.<br/><br/>Cons: the dry noodles were bland so best to add soy sauce to it.

- Roast duck: meat was tender and juicy, not too salty. The skin was not crispy but was well-seasoned and not soggy.<br/>- Stir-fried veg (can't remember which one now): not salty so it went well with the other 2 dishesĀ <br/>- Seafood & beancurd claypot: a little saltier than the other two dishes but went nicely with rice. The seafood tasted fresh and not fishy. The fish cake in here were really tasty too, a little sweet. The tofu and veggies soaked up all of the sauce so they were really flavourful.Ā <br/><br/>Overall I really enjoy the dishes I tried here. Service was prompt and staff were attentive enough. The interior doesn't look great but the food makes up for it.

You canā€™t go past Pacific House for some good seafood. Great food with so much flavour. We ordered mum crab with ginger Shallots and egg noodles, crispy silken tofu, salt and pepper prawns with shell! These were all accompanied with some lovely Chinese broccoli and we finished with banana fritter and fried buns - delish food at great value! Highly recommended

Cheap and cheerful Chinese restaurant. Quick service and good food at a reasonable price . BYO is a bonus. The seafood is pretty tasty. No frills dining

We have been coming here for yonks to get our roasted duck fix. While their prices are slightly higher than other places, you are almost always guaranteed a plump, meaty and well seasoned duck. The multiple spices used are well balanced and don't get me started on their Chinese sausage. It's salty, umami and goes perfectly with rice. Service is a bit hit and miss, as with the majority of these sorts of places.

Classic roasts and amazing dishes, Pacific BBQ is an institution on Victoria St! <br/>Always a great spot for roast duck and pork! Fresh, deliciously salty, free soup, could not ask for more. <br/><br/>

Genuine Hong Kong food! Came here with my partner and parents. My mum (whoā€™s a Chinese) is a really fussy eater, but she really liked it here, so that says a lot. <br/><br/>We got the crispy duck, roast pork and sweet and sour fish and they were all so good. The skin of the duck and pork were really crispy and the fish was very fresh. Service was quick too and the prices were very reasonable. Parking can be difficult but we managed to find a spot both times we came. Definitely worth coming back.

With a glut of good places to eat in the area, ones like these stand out. And you know itā€™s good when you see it busy from early in the day until late in the night. <br/>Like many good restaurants, you are given a soup starter (on the house) as well as Chinese tea. The food is very good with my favourite front the Singapore noodles. As a big lover of duck I had to order it and see how good it was. Wasnā€™t disappointed. And itā€™s not too expensive, quite affordable. <br/>Love that most places these days you donā€™t have to get dressed up - just go out with friends and eat. <br/>Prices good. Lots of choices. Takeaway available. Kids welcome. Parking can be hard in Smith Street but stick with it. Something always comes up.

Very rude staff and they avoid to give us receipt when we paid the bill even we requested 2 times. They just give excuse as they ā€œdid not have a computerā€. Then, they said will give us a ā€œhandwritten receiptā€ but we have waited 5 minutes and the receipt still havenā€™t come yet. Will take this matter to ACCC. NEVER COME BACK.

What a RIP OFF they are! Please beware, they will try to rip you off in every way. The Roast duck will cost you 60% more to eat in. The price for whole Roast duck is $34 takeaway vs $58 EAT IN! Make sure you check all the prices before ordering.<br/><br/>Food was average and the waiting staff is extremely rude. They will keep pushing you to dine quickly so they can take more customer in.
Michi
Delicious roast duck or roast pork with rice. They also do a lunch menu which is affordable compared to their a la carte dinner menu. Great to have nice chinese restaurant among all the vietnamese options in the area

One of the best meals Iā€™ve had in Richmond in a very long time. <br/><br/>Ordered:<br/>Half roasted duck and pork $30 <br/>Braised eel and pork in sizzling clay pot $30 <br/>Steamed 3 kind mushrooms and veggies $23 <br/><br/>Review: <br/>Love, love the bustling environment of pacific, havenā€™t been here for a very long time and prices has risen! But the quality was similar, the best roasted duck Iā€™ve had in my life, with the crispiest skin you can find and tender, juiciest meat. Roasted pork was better than most Asian bbq joints but not better than the duck. The proportion was way too stingy for $30, but it made us crave for more! Braised eel was definitely the highlight, served in a sizzling pot with delicious Chinese spices and flavourings. I found the eel itself to be a bit on the fishy side (they didnā€™t get rid of the fishiness was completely) but it was still manageable because Iā€™m not that sensitive. Pork was a bit tough in the clay pot but veggies in there absorbed all the sauces and seasonings making it superrr delicious. Steamed veggies in clay pot with 3 kind mushrooms had nice texture but the natural sweetness of the veggies didnā€™t really come out resulting in a bland dish. Service was really good and attentive, food came out in lightening speed! Would definitely come back more often for the bbq and try new dishes! Their crab is famous as well. Itā€™s one of the most affordable Chinese seafood eateries in Melbourne! The one in Richmond is the better joint in my opinion.

This place is worth the hype. An institution that serves simple, flavourful food. When we are craving good Chinese and donā€™t want to risk trying something new, this is where we go.

Fast, reliable Cantonese take away. The service and food gave me a strong Hong Kong cafe feel. The floor managers made it even more like Hong Kong. The duck is always good, the chicken was not as awesome as Hong Kong but I think it's more to do with the breed of chicken we can get in Australia.
Suzysays
Food is excellent here. The roast duck, char sui, the dinner menu is tasty as well. Picture is a special clay pot and honey pepper fillet Mignon. <br/>service however is pretty mediocre, when they are in a good mood they are nice. When they are in a bad mood they somewhat come across as rude. Eg when we walked in they were busy chatting away didnā€™t greet us or anything. We had to ask for service. If you can look past that the food is great
Crabapples For Lunch
If you're Asian, chances are you've heard of this place. There's a smaller branch in the CBD, more frequented by international students, but this branch in Richmond is more popular with families including overseas visitors.<br/><br/>This is one of the few places that still serves complimentary soup (typically a pork broth, often with ribs and veges) to start off your meal. It's honestly a delightful gesture on their part amidst Chinese restaurants charging you for tea, sauces and table snacks (and I'm sure in good time utensils as well) nowadays. The soup's really quite good too, not the typical clear soup that comes with noodle dishes and tastes mostly like MSG.<br/><br/>There is a large menu here, but some of the most popular dishes are probably the roasted meats (duck, char siew, pork belly and chicken), as well as the expensive seafood like lobster or crab. The seafood is market priced, and often very expensive (so if your parents fancy treating you to a meal then bring them here). Prices for other dishes are reasonable. The roast duck and crispy pork belly are well done - the skin is often crispy even when doing takeaway (which lots of people also do) and sitting in a covered box for a period of time. The main issue I have is that the cut of meat you get is often quite variable, especially if you're ordering a single portion. Some cuts you get contain a lot of bone, even the pork belly, so you can get a lot less meat than you thought you would. But with a no-fuss, high traffic restaurant such as this, it may just be a risk you have to accept.<br/><br/>The good thing about this place is unlike many other traditional Chinese restaurants, the staff here tend to cater to the non-Chinese speaking crowd quite well, and are often friendly and approachable. So even if you're not used to dining at such places, it should be a pleasant experience.<br/><br/>Aside from the variable quality of the roasted meats, I would definitely recommend this place if you haven't tried it before.
Vivian
Always busy and crowded ! The food here is pretty good and authentic . They do really good roast meats especially the duck and pork. Seafood here is also really well known for , the fish is always steamed perfectly - we find service here is a bit slow and scattered

It's rare I walk away after dining at a restaurant and reflectĀ  ā€¦.. that was a total waste of money. Firstly I didnā€™t understand the bowl of murky ā€˜soupā€™ delivered to the table without explanation. It tasted okay, however, wonder about the ingredients! The crab, egg white & mushroom 'special' dish had no discernible flavour, in fact, no flavour, basically inedible and a total waste of $28. Clearly, this is a very popular restaurant and it probably boiled down to the personal choice of dishes from their menu. Perhaps duck would have been a better choice, however, there wonā€™t be a next time for me!!

This place used to be good. Tried it again recently and it has definitely gone downhill. Couldnā€™t finish the seafood, tasted rubbery. Roasted meat was soggy. Service was very awkward. Might be last visit for me.

Best pacific house of the three shops. Duck and roast pork are super super nice here! Seafood is also fantastic! Such a great genuine eatery.

It is with a heavy heart that I write the following review.Ā <br/><br/>We, a party of 12, came here to celebrate a birthday. As it was a Monday night, the place was rather empty. We went all seafood - started with oysters, followed by crabs and then fish amongst a fair amount of other dishes. Clearly we were the cash cow table that night. So far so good until we requested for rice.Ā <br/><br/>See the way Chinese restaurants factor in rice is per head. That can either be delivered per bowl or in bulk via those ice cooler plastic containers. Problem with the latter delivery system is it's quite difficult to gauge the actual amount of rice. And for us that was when the issue started. In our initial order, only half the table requested for rice. That was finished in no time. When we asked for more, we were told they'd need to charge for that. One simply does not expect customers to make that kind of decision when in mid-flight meal so we just acknowledged. Anyway when the total bill came, imagine the horror when the next most expensive item after the crabs was the rice, at around $80! When we enquired, they were extremely adamant that it's their policy (yes they did seek consent) and there's nothing they can do about it.<br/><br/>Personally if I was a restaurateur, I would have taken some action to ease the bill shock especially when the said item is the cheapest. Imagine how that would have played out in my review where I would have sung the praises of this establishment. Word of mouth can spread like wildfire. Times that by 12.

Been here many times for years.<br/>They have variety of dishes and normally visit here when we want to eat different types of dishes.<br/>I've tasted noodles and rice here. They all have great flavours and nothing much missed.<br/><br/>Today, I had pork and black bean with rice and my boy had chicken congee with stick.<br/>The amount of serve at lunch memu had great volume. I took half of plate in takeaway box but large container was full.<br/><br/>They serve very fast and cook fresh vegetables.<br/>Good to visit in lunch break.

I have always loved eating roast duck at their Lonsdale St branch and wanted to try this place out when we were in Richmond. The service we received was one of the worst experiences we had at a restaurant. The waiter refused to let us sit at a 4 seater with two people although i saw a few others doing this. When i questioned why some people have been offered a bigger table he rudely said :"Do you see them ordering from the lunch menu?!"<br/>Needless to say we quickly walked out and will never return here.

Great place for a family outing. Lovely environment and great service. Very child friendly and food was great. Lots of variety such as rice dishes, noodle dishes, seafood or poultry. Would definitely recommend this place for those eating out in large groups.
Eating Away Melbourne
We finished watching mission impossible at Victoria Garden and thought we might have a late dinner at Pacific House. It was 8.30pm Ā and it was still quite busy. We ordered the sweet and sour pork and a pot of satay beef with glass noodles. The pork dish was absolutely amazing! They also provide complimentary soup at your arrival which was really sweet. Service was lovely as well!
HANNAH
Pacific House has always been a great takeaway spot for their famous siewyok, chicken, BBQ roasted pork and roasted duck (not forgetting their complimentary and complimenting chili oil). The chili oil is sold separately in store as well.<br/><br/>Being a popular dining place for Chinese / Cantonese food among the locals and non-locals, Pacific House serves decent and affordable dishes that are prepared by Chinese cooks.<br/><br/>The food there has been superb, so far I have had nothing to grumble or nitpick on. However, the customer service could be improved a lil' bit more providing that Melbourne has so far been a friendly city in terms of customer service.
Stelly
Iā€™ve been a regular customer at Pacific Seafood BBQ House joints for years and and never have they disappointed! They are definitely one of the better Cantonese food joints around Melbourne, serving authentic dishes at moderate prices. I always come in to get myself some takeaway rice dishes and roast duck whenever Iā€™m around. The fried rice dishes are very flavourful, and the roast duck here is exceptional. Definitely give this place a go if youā€™re in the area!

Always dependable for a good Chinese feed.Ā Wide range of selection on the menu.Ā <br/>Roast Port & DuckĀ  always on point. If you go for lunch can get selection or combination of both for $12 / $13.Ā <br/>Best chinese food on Victoria St

Pacific seafood BBQ house in Richmond. Very authentic Cantonese style restaurant. I did not try the seafood but the BBQ PORK was tasty. Good place for a quick bite.
Calvin
Ordered one beef with Chinese broccoli & one fish with ginger and shallot and the bill ends up being $53??? What was the extra $9 for??? Definitely check your bill before paying or youā€™ll end up being ripped off!
Bridget Wong
Ordered the minced meat with bean curd on rice and when I received it, I realised that it was spicy (even though it didn't say so on the menu) so I asked if I could swap it for something non spicy. The waiter came and very aggressively yelled that minced meat with bean curd is always spicy so it's not his fault and I should've asked beforehand if it was spicy. I pointed out that some of the other things on the menu were labeled as 'spicy' so I thought it was fair to assume that if it wasn't labeled 'spicy', it's not. He then yelled again that minced meat with bean curd is ALWAYS spicy and continued being extremely aggressive. In the end, he finally grudgingly agreed to swap the meal for something else on the menu. After he swapped, we could hear him telling other wait staff loudly in Chinese that these Australian Asians know nothing about Chinese food. The whole experience was just very unpleasant.
Rita
It was quiet when we arrived. We ordered our usual favourites at their sister restaurant in South Yarra. The beef was tough whilst the black beans tasted hard they had a peculiar taste. The Chinese broccoli did not turn up, but ordinary broccoli instead - Wrong. The flat rice noodles had so much curry powder that it was strange in texture and hot. We tried it out but did not enjoy it at all and wonā€™t return. Ā But we will continue going to their South Yarra version which is fantastic and no comparison.

I'm a fan of this place (and all of the branches). For a quick glutenous BBQ hit, its great. The dishwater-esque free starter soup is awesome, even though i have no idea whats in it. It doesn't get busty though, and they can ruin out of meat at the silliest times unfortunately. Service is also "no-frills".<br/><br/>Still worth a trip, well priced, and one of the few places you can get crocodile :)
Sylv
Ordered the belly pork in claypot and duck with rice, the dishes were really delicious. Duck skin was crispy and shiny, pork was very very tender šŸ‘ although service was a little bit off, but it's been the same since I came here a long time ago so no surprise there šŸ˜‚ if you like traditional Hong Kong/Chinese cuisine then this place is for you!
CHRISTINE
Terrible, terrible service. I felt as though I was forcing the manager to take our orders even though the restaurant was not even close to busy. Will definitely not return when being served in such unfriendly manner. <br/><br/>The meal does come with complimentary soup as a starter, just like many traditional Chinese restaurants. (It was actually really nice in fact!) <br/><br/>The Thai fried rice was quite lacking in flavour and ingredients. It was merely rice, lettuce and very small amounts of mince meat - nothing close to what a Thai rice should be. On the other hand, the two stir fried dishes - stir fried noodles with beef and stir fried flat noodles - was great! It was full of flavour and pretty good portion and ratio between meat and noodles. <br/><br/>Overall, the stir fried noodle dishes are pretty good and is worth the price however the chef specials (Thai fried rice) was a big let down. <br/><br/>Rating: 3/5

There isn't much to offer for decor but if you want quick service, attentive staff, and food served promptly after arrival then this place will tick the boxes. The complimentary soup and tea on arrival was a treat before digging into their bbq pork belly which was juicy and crispy. The pipis was huge and comes with Chinese donut already drenched in the sauce however the sauce was a bit too salty. Overall the food was not bad for a quick Chinese food fix but be prepared to bring enough cash as they only accept cash payments.
Michael Chang
The roast duck was tasteless and badly cut. The masterstock that they drizzled on as a sauce was thin and insipid. Really donā€™t understand how they managed to get it so wrong. Wonā€™t be going back.
Ilovefoodsomuch
The best pacific house out of the three. Roast duck and pork are perfect and very consistent. I liked to add egg to my rice for extra indulgence
Steven Thai
Service was terrible. Waiters and staff barely let us finish our foods and kept grabbing plates off the table. <br/><br/>Food was not worth the cost. Mostly over seasoned or lack any flavour. Better off going to a cheap Chinese restaurant for cheaper and tastier food.<br/><br/>Biggest gripe with the meal was with the rice. They advised us that eat bowl was $3.50 and that a tub would enough to feed 7 people. Which is a lie. The tub was half full and mostly just air. Barely filled 7 bowls. Each bowl had about two or three spoons worth!!<br/><br/>Overall. Overpriced. Poor service. Sub-par food. <br/>1/5. Don't waste your time or money.
Danny Nguyen
Not sure about any of of the dishes here but the roast duck and crispy skin pork are the stars here. Can be cut inconsistently but the flavour is there. Place is also cash only.
KClovesherfood?
I work in richmond and this is a regular lunchtime haunt - with lots of other options in Victoria st we can't seem to walk past this place. The lunchtime menu is varied, cheap, quick and they welcome you with a lovely bowl of clear soup- such a nice touch. Don't walk past!

When my mum was here on a holiday from Malaysia she was hankering for some BBQ Pork Rice so we ended up at Pacific House on a very quiet weekday during lunchtime. We both had the Roast Pork + Rice dish and despite the generous quantity of Siu Yoke (being bang for your buck) we both agreed that it was pretty average. I wouldn't come back Ā here again in a hurry as I find that the dish lacks flavour despite delivering crispy pork and the place lacked atmosphere.

Food: We ordered the Roast Pork, Bean Curd & Mushroom on Rice (č±†č…å†¬č‡ē«č…©é£Æ) and the Singapore Fried Noodles (ę˜Ÿę“²ē‚’ē±³ē²‰). <br/><br/>The rice dish was lacking sauce, which is often the bit that makes or break this dish. We had to make up for the lack of sauce/flavour by mixing in a lot of chilli oil. <br/><br/>The noodles were excellent, spicy and not too oily. The ratio of noodles to vegetable/meats was balanced. The addition of thinly sliced duck skin was a great, something you don't usually find in this dish. <br/><br/>Price: For what you're paying the portions are very generous. Good value for a filling, cheap lunch. <br/><br/>Service: Typical service you receive at these sorts of Chinese restaurants. I'm used to it but for some, the waiters' attitudes may come off as rude or inconsiderate. Our noodles came a lot later than the rice, even after asking three different waiters to check on our order.

Came for lunch, got the lobster with ginger sauce and noodles, delicious, their smallest lobster was enough for 3 people. Seasonal pricing but you can always ask before ordering. Lunchtime on a Sunday was not too crazy busy, gets busy during dinner though
Hello. Imnikki
I'm surprised that I have not written a review for Pacific House, despite having eaten here countless times. I most recently came here on a weekday night and the place was only running at half full capacity. Come here on a weekend and it's s completely different story. Service is the same regardless of how busy the place is - mostly nonchalance with a bit of friendly chatter thrown in.<br/><br/>The roast meats are the star here. While many come for the seafood, I'm personally more of a fan of the roast duck and soya sauce chicken. Consistently roasted well; meaty, juicy and tender. The roast pork is pretty decent but the majority of my friends dislike the BBQ pork here. Yet I love it. Why? Because it's lean with zero fat and burnt around the edges. BBQ pork connoisseur would willingly turn vegetarian at this kind of cut. 8 out of 10 times here, they serve my type of cut and not the half fatty/meaty cut.<br/><br/>The stir-fry veggies, on some occasions, are executed extremely well - minimal amount of oil and veggies that are crisp and fresh, with just the right amount of seasoning. In fact, when the chef has the groove on, the quality of the food here can be quite excellent. On the chef's bad days, the food becomes just edible. Try at your own risk.

It has been almost two years since I last visited Pacific Seafood BBQ House in South Yarra and knowing that there is another branch in Richmond, it was only sensible to try out that outlet. Like any other Chinese restaurant, it is hard to signal for a waiter's attention and once achieved, it is only a matter of time until your query gets a respond. Food arrived pretty quickly at our table, a bonus for rocking up a bit past the dinner hour.
Cynthia Giang
The endless quest for the beloved roasted duck and soy chicken. Bought from here a few times whenever in the area visiting family. The pricing is pretty standard. The fatty textures and seasoning is there. Sometimes a borderline too salty, but still reasonable.
Tyron Austin Chiang
I really love the seafood, really fresh and nice especially the snow crab with goose paste <br/>The BBQ also is other highly light <br/>The manger Beck is really friendly and recommend nice food
Ethan Chang
Excellent food and service, this one in Richmond is very consistent, all the friends I took to this restaurant were very satisfied. Two thumbs up!!!
Justin Chen
The best seafood I had in Melbourne, the food is so fresh and tasty, the waiter and waitress r so nice and friendly, the manager who called beck is so funny, make us feel like home, I will definitely come back:)
Lee Jason
The roast duck is the best in Melbourne! Definitely gonna recommend this to my friends! The lady at the cashier was attentive and so friendly and the other staff provide excellent service as well! Definitely gonna come back for another meal!
Kyle
My friend and I went here for lunch today.<br/>I have been here a few times now, I always like to visit when I am around the Richmond area. Their service has been better and better every time I go, they welcomed us and took us to the table. <br/>We had a few dishes, everything was a generous size and delicious! I will definitely be coming back again!

I found this place really underwhelming. We came here hoping to get some nice Asian bbq meatļ¼Œand everything we had was very much on the average side. Wouldnt recommend

An original.. love the complimentary "daily house soup" that they serve you upon sitting down. it kept my belly warm during those awfully cold winter nights. This is where my mum brought us to from 10 years ago. We would park our car behind the restaurant and walk through the back door. Awesome stuff. keep it up!

Food in Pacific house is always fresh and good.<br/><br/>Lunch time menu provides a wide range of noodle and rice dishes to choose from. Price was unbeatable for $11. <br/><br/>Unlike other busy Chinese restaurants that they precook most of the popular dishes and heat it up to be served, pacific house cook it when they takes the order. <br/><br/>BBQ duck was always my favourite too.
Beck Chang
I ordered a mixed roast on rice for takeaway, the lady near door was friendly, and the duck is the best one in Melbourne I've never had. Everyone must try it.
David Butera
Average food, but the service and and general atmosphere leave a bad taste in your mouth. There is better food along victoria street than here. But dont have an issue, we were here, still eating and the place was 1/3 full. Started vacuuming, then this old lady was leaving and tripped over the vacuum. When she told the staff member at the till, we head him say i speak no english. We were in shock, still cannot believe people use that saying as an excuse.

Came here for lunch and ordered the roast pork with rice, roast duck with rice (pictured) and claypot vegetables, tofu and glass noodles to share between 3 people. The pork was amazing, crispy deliciousness! The duck was very flavoursome but not much meat (as the extra flavour comes from the boney parts anyway) and I was surprised at how delicious the claypot dish was. I found the service friendly and efficient. It's cash only so make sure you've got cash, but the prices for the amount of food you get is very reasonable. Ps they give you free soup too!

If you want authentic Cantonese seafood, look no further. We had ginger scallion mud crab with noodles, seafood combination chow mein and Chinese broccoli with prawn cake. The seafood combination chow mein was a little plain tasting, but if I ordered the mix meat combination chow mein I think I'd be less disappointed. Crab cooked ginger scallion style was very good and the noodles we had every last strand. The Chinese broccoli with prawn cake was very aromatic

Craved roast duck noodles and this restaurant came up one of the Top 10 Roast Duck restaurants in Melbourne. Their Roast Duck was absolutely delicious (you can first tell from the colour of the skin), even after 9pm at night. Skin was crisp and meat was juicy. Although for Roast Duck noodles, there was an extra $1 per serve after 5pm. A little negative point was that on my way out, I complimented how amazing the duck was and got a very weird tired fake smile. So yeah, that kinda left me a less than 100% satisfaction rate on my overall experience.
Delishmama
Easy, comfort and fast chinese family meal here. Atmosphere could be loud and noisy sometimes as they are always packed and busy. <br/>Come here once a month and enjoyed mixed bbq plates. Pipi with XO sauce is yummy too. Will definitely come here again.

Was invited out to have lunch here with few friends. Had the mixed dish consisting of roast crispy skin pork and roast duck along with rice. Wow... One of the best roast duck I've had in my life. I recommend you guys to try it for sure!

On 02/01/2017, had a terrible experience dining there. Their famous roast duck was normal & pricey at $52 per duck. Dishes overall was pricey for a Chinese restaurant. Luckily, I went thru the bill and was overcharged for 7 wine glasses @ $3.50 per glass when actually, we only had 4 wine glasses our BYO wine. When I asked for refund of $10.50 back, the cashier suddenly was finding it difficult to understand & speak English. What irked me was why they are not accepting credit or debit cards when their prices are quite pricey & food bills can run into hundreds. When I asked for an itemized tax invoice, the tax invoice was scribbled hastily with a wrong actual amount I paid. Are they trying to play with their annual income report to ATO ???.Ā  After that the waiter attending to was giving us dirty looks for the rest of evening. <br/>If you need to dine there, please be careful & go thru their bill thoroughly...!<br/><br/>Michael NG

I used to come here often when I lived nearby. Visited the place again years later and some things have changed. Place is bigger now which is good, tables are not as cramped as they used to. More staff on the floor, and very attentive. Food was as I remembered them. $25 for deep fried flounder in spicy salt is pretty good value. Rest of the food were somewhat overpriced though. $22 for simple chicken dish is just a bit much, in comparison to the flounder anyway, which I will come back for.

Normally go for dine-in which is ok. Food is ok. However decided to do take-away. Guy at counter taking orders very arrogant and rude. No sense of customer service. Exceptional bad service. Certainly would not recommend after this bad experience.

I must say this was one of the worst chinese restaurants I've been to and the worst Pacific Seafood BBQ house aswell. The service was almost non existent and when the staff did attend, they were rude, the food was not fresh and it was quite expensive aswell. We had tried their peking duck aswell and it was just stuffed with big chunks of duck. The duck was dry, it was not a very nice experience. This restaurant is usually quite nice, just not the one in richmond.

Amazing place. Roasts can be hit and miss. But an authentic place and a favorote for years. Try the fried rices and roasts and beef noodles.

Melbourne no.1 juicy roast duck and yummy roast pork, efficiency service, very traditional Cantonese restaurant.

Went to pacific house recently after a few years. The food was fantastic!!<br/>We had roast duck, combo fried rice and beef with Chinese vegetables. Everything was amazing. <br/>

More than a disappointment. Ā An insult ! We have been going to Pacific House for years. In fact our end of year lunches have been there for a number of years,. Today was far, far more than upsetting. Service from the start was apathetic, it was my husbands birthday. They brought us the wrong main course, flippantly after we said where is our other main course, while one of our parties meals went stone cold waiting Ā Any chance of the rice we ordered? Then we called on the manager and he was beyond rude. In fact he called us liars in front of everyone.. Not an exaggeration.. It is Monday. Ā Total of 15 people in the restaurant, Ā What had we done wrong?. Had they forgotten we tipped them every other time we visited? Cash yes that is all they take. The Manager Tom needs to realise we are the customers! We deserve some acknowledgement for our simple requests on this special day .Yes they do great food. Price fair for quality. Ā No we are never ever going there again. Such a shame a real part of our life journey dissipated after 20 years of patronage.

It was pretty busy as usual when we arrived but the restaurant is renovated with more seats and we got seats straight away.<br/><br/>Liz and I got two dishes to share. We had the Fried Rice Noodle with Beef in Egg Sauce. The beef was really tender and the egg gravy thick and flavoursome, but there wasn't enough sauce! We both love drowning our noodles/ rice in sauce - sauce ties all the ingredients of a dish together, gives it extra flavour and texture. If only there was more sauce!<br/><br/>We also got a plate of Fried Chicken Ribs with Salted Egg Yolk. Now, nothing can beat the mother of all chicken ribs from Rose Garden, but these were piping hot from the fryer, deliciously crispy on the outside, juicy and moist on the inside. Liz and I have had these ribs a few times and we never really taste the salted egg yolk but it's still good! It also comes with crispy fried wanton skin-like things (at least I think that's what they are) and they're yummy too.

It's been over 5 years since my last visit to this restaurant - it's now been renovated with more seating, cleaner and fewer colourful menu items scattered on the walls. The star of the night for us was the Ocean Jewels Deep fried Scallops, Calamari, White Bait with Spicy Salt and Chilli. In the past this dish was served with fillers (fried wonton skins), those are now absent and it's kept minimal with a nicer taller dish and fewer chilli pieces. It's nicely deep fried, well flavoured (certain theres a fair bit of MSG in it) and the ingredients fresh. The Beef with Chinese broccoli was also at a high standard, nice wok-ky flavour with a hint of Chinese rice wine - juicy and soft beef; tender Chinese broccoli. Our last dish was the Fried Beef Hor Fun - another winner, generous serving size, great flavour and love how they use a thinner rice noodle (soaks up the flavour and fries more due to its increased surface area). Overall, a still a great place - so really happy. Freebee soup, rice and tea is a bonus :)

Walk in and to your immediate right is the counter, behind which the cleaver chap cleaves the duck and pork. BBQ goodness. You can buy some sliced pork and chopped duck here and walk home with your happy, warm plastic boxes swinging against your legs as you imagine getting home and popping them open, taking in their sweet steamy aroma. Some rice or noodles- greens on the side. Makes for a superior takeaway. Oh yeah! You can eat IN the restaurant- there's lots to choose from, lots of items fluttering on the walls scrawled on butchers paper. Specials etc. But me? I'll take the walk home every time.

Best HK style BBQ in Melbourne. Lunch specials at around $11 are a great deal. Service is brisk and indifferent...but who cares. The food is fantastic. Seafood is worth a try. But it's all about the BBQ pork and duck for me.

DO: The any of the roast meats: crispy pork, BBQ pork, soya chicken or the famous duck. Also crab, soft shell crab, chilli chicken ribs, xo pipis or just ask ... Salt and pepper anything please?!? <br/><br/>DON'T: Expect amazing service. It's fast, efficient and Chinese - they're supposed to be rude haha. <br/><br/>TIP: Go at lunch time for cheap cheap deals. $10 for rice dishes. Sweet and sour pork, here we come. <br/><br/>

I had a roasted duck and BBQ pork on rice for lunch. Wow it's an "oh my God" it's so delicious feeling. I've eaten many BBQ pork elsewhere, this place has the best recipe to do the pork. It's worth traveling all the way there to have such good quality food.

Came here a few times for lunch, it's nice to have complimentary soup of the day soon after ordering. The bbq meat is tasty. The pork chop with tomato sauce on rice is only so-so.

So yummy! Everything is good! Especially, Roast duck is juicy and tasty. I love it so much. I highly recommend seafood as well. Big crab and lobster are so delicious.

Very good Chinese casual restaurant. Very good roasted duck and pork, cozy environment, nice service. A very good restaurant for gatherings. Nice Chinese dishes.

Long standing, authentic, popular and value for money casual Chinese restaurant. Their complimentary home made soup is my all time favourite - steaming hot, and perfect for cold weather. Roast duck and pork, lobster/crab w ginger and Spring onion, beef brisket, golden duck salted egg prawn are "must try" dishesļ¼They have a branch in the CBD and South Yarra, but this original branch is still my fav. Highly recommend if you are looking for high quality Cantonese seafood or roast meat dishes.

Always an amazing gastronomic experience at this restaurant. Great to visit if you go with a group so you can try lots of dishes. Abit cramped and busy atmosphere wise but go there for the food

Was going to have crab but decided on having a fresh flounder. Absolutely delicious. Service was great. Looking forward to going back for some fresh seafood.

Always like the duck and rice, but slow down guys. Bumped by super face waiters more than once at this visit. Efficiency I appreciate but nit at a cost.

Big fan and regular of the cbd outlet. Had lunch today - my standard roast pork and roast duck on rice. Didn't disappoint. Simple and delicious. Oh, roast duck - how I love thee!

Whenever I am in Richmond, this is my go to place for lunch if I want chinese food and roast dishes that I can count on to be good. <br/><br/>As you enter, you can already smell the wonderful aromas of the roast duck, roast pork and char siu that is hanging near the front counter. <br/><br/>The place is bustling with activity and to be honest there is not once that I've been in and it has been quiet. Even from the time they open there are people queuing outside and their roast duck and roast meats just seem to fly out the door.<br/><br/>If you are expecting 5 star service or fine dining, you will be disappointed. The service is fast but efficient. There is complimentary tea (not crash hot but hey can't ask for much when it's free) and home made soup (which I find that is always full of flavour as it has been cooking for hours in a huge pot). This comes as soon as you sit down. The food is why I come back time after time again. <br/><br/>My go to dish is always the roast duck on rice but this time round, I've decided to go for a dish that I have grown up with and one that is definitely one you either hate or love. My old favorite - bitter melon with pork spare ribs in black bean sauce. <br/><br/>Bitter melon is one of those dishes that have people divided - sort of like durian. Some people hate the bitter taste, and some people love it. I do appreciate it a lot more the older I get. But if you are ordering it, please beware it is quite an acquired taste. The black bean sauce breaks down some of the bitterness and it's a staple dish that I always have at home. Not sure if it's because I haven't had Chinese food for 3 weeks now being overseas, I find today it tastes extra delicious. Lovely other half went for the char siu on rice with fresh char siu freshly out of the kitchen and to be honest none of their roast dishes ever disappoints. <br/><br/>Pacific house has other branches, however I always find the original Richmond one the best. I am not sure if it's because it's the closest branch to me or simply I know I will always get great good when I come here. The food standard never drops.

The place for mud crab with home made xo sauce. Price tonight was $39 per pound (pound = 0.45kgs). Been here twice and it hasnt disappoint. Bill came up to $126 for 1.2kgs crab and side dish of water spinach

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and they never fail to amaze me with their food. Last time we ordered the crab noodles and fried chicken ribs, which were both divine. Just a note that this place can get quite busy and service is not the best.

Always been a great place for great roast pork/duck lunch or family dinner. It is just a bit too far from where I live and it is pretty hard to find a parking sometimes. But still I have to come to have their roast pork/duck! You can't go wrong with them. A steam fish dish is also nice for dinner, always fresh and tasty. Service is always efficient!!!

Ordered an array of dishes at this nice Chinese restaurant. Firstly some soup came. The soup was standard but refreshing. The char siu and siu yuk (barbequed pork and roast pork) came next. Standard as well although cooked well with good flavour.<br/><br/>The claypot dou fu (bean curd) came next and that was one of the best dishes of the night. Very memorable with great flavours in this dish.<br/><br/>The rest included a steamed barramundi for $28 for 1/2 a kilo just so-so. No real flavour just that fishy taste, good with rice. The beans with pork nuggets were the second best dish, very good flavour. The sweet and sour pork and crispy sweet and sour beef were just so-so. nothing special<br/><br/>Overall the meal was average. A little disappointing, the Pacific Seafood in South Yarra is much better.

Always easy to enjoy, don't be complicated!<br/><br/>Non-complicated menu, just a simple Crispy Pork Belly and BBQ Pork on Rice with a bit of Meat juice/Soy sauce to start, then you go on from there, whether be Roast Duck, Crispy Egg Noodles with Seafood or whatever else you fancy.<br/><br/>Get in early for lunch, as it can be a bit of a queue.<br/><br/>Great value and most of the time satisfying, just don't asks for silly things like extra polite service, it's what this place is all about, good cheap eat for lunch and dinner.<br/><br/>So enjoy!
