The son (Ryan) is annoying
he kept on dancing around the restaurant singing let it go.
Only 5% discount and the yum cha smells like dogs
it was alright and i would recommend it
just tell the kid to stop singing
very good food and good service but the kid is annoying
Went there today just to check it out. Not crowded around 12 noon, Saturday (more people arriving later). The place looks great inside, the fountain and all...Ordered two San Choi Bao's, spring rolls, fried whitebait (that's my favorite!), several types of dumplings (xiaolongbao, drunken prawn etc), chicken feet (my wife's favorite), BBQ pork buns.
What can I say? That was the best xiaolongbao I ever had (and we have been to quite a few Chinese restaurants - including some in China!) - particularly the taste of the juice and meat inside! The rest of the food was good too - flavours, presentation etc. The only thing we didn't rate high was the tea...Oh well, you can't win everything! LOL )))
Service was fast, efficient and friendly. Food arrived reasonably quick.
Overall - recommended.
went here with my man for valentines day. had rice and pork waffles for entree which was pretty good, the sauce on the pork smelt awful but tasted amazing. for mains we had prawns and sweet and sour pork. we wouldve thought for a fine dining asain restaurant the sweet and sour pork wouldnt come out like a normal deep fried dish you would get at a takeaway but was still yum. the moscato they had was stunning!!! waitress was pretty rushed and not in the best mood but thats understandable considering the restaurant was packed!!
Finally tried this place out after driving past it all the time it’s actually pretty good the food is all well priced and service is also good food came out quickly and was pretty good will definitely be going back next time I have a craving for Chinese
Living in this area, Potsticker was a good surprise. However their service is a bit up and down. We were served a bit rudely by one of the waitress on our second visit though the first visit was extremely pleasant. The food is always tasty.
Plusses slightly more than the minuses - a bit of a "Hit n Miss" this place. The venue itself has had a chequered history over the years - many other restaurant ventures offering different cuisines have tried their hands here and failed - badly. There were previously South African, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai unsuccessful ventures.
I have been here several times before under its different guises over the years, and now, as Potsticker, this is my 3rd visit, and seemingly it has had 3 ownership / management changes those 3 times!
Sadly for a place that is nicely decorated, with nice settings and a good ambience, it lacks "soul", not helped by a less than "warm-welcoming" waitstaff! Some seem timid, but they are mostly unsmiling!
2 of the 3 mains we had were excellent, but the 3rd one left a lot to be desired. The entrée of Duck and Chicken San Choi Bau were of average fare. The Truffle Scallops were exquisite, and the lightly battered Murray Cod fillets in Sweet n Sour sauce was scrumptious.
However. the Lobster Tail in XO sauce was barely edible! It was tough, chewy, bland (yes! lobster tail bland!). To me, is appears to be a hastily defrosted precooked lobster tail, stir-fried in the XO sauce! We left 1/4 of the dish untouched. I mentioned this to one of the cold unsmiling waitress (dressed in all-black) as she cleared the table of the unfinished meal and the spat-out inedible chewy bits - who nonchalantly said she will let the chef know ... but I doubt she ever did!
Bill came up to $215 (pre Entertainment Card discount - yes, this place is pricy for what it serves) for our Sunday lunch - with no apology for the shocking lobster dish, and with no discount offered for that very bad dish - this is not on, in my book, for any restaurant when a customer had made mention of a shocking dish, and particularly so for a pricy dish. Nonetheless, I left a smallish $5 tip.
PS: Potsticker has a great Yum-Cha menu, with mostly "not your standard yum-cha stuff". I spied some very innovative and interesting offerings. Will come back and give the Yum-Cha a go, and hopefully the venue and staff have found their mojo and inject some warmth and joy into the place!.
Yum Cha where you fill out a list & they bring the dishes out. Very good, as usual. Standout items - special fried rice & mandarin beef. Extensive menu - lots of variety. BYO wine.
Took the family for dinner and everyone loved it. The food was spot on and the service was friendly and efficient. The dumplings were very tasty and the beef spare ribs were amazing. Will definitely be heading back for more!

+3.5
Nice venue in Caulfield, it even has a fountain/pond area to dine around! The service here is good and very professional and the food is good without being outstanding. In my opinion it is very overpriced for what you get but it is tasty nonetheless, but if your looking for cheap dumplings and Asian food, this isn't the place.
worth to try. come with my friends birthday party . very good decoration and staff is polite. like here a lot.
just the price is a bit expensive. suggest the owner of the restaurant can make the portion size a bit bigger. thanks a lot!
Delicious dumplings & the salt & pepper calamari is amazing!! To be honest, I haven't had 1 bad thing from here ever! Service is always lovely too & always feel welcome.
A very solid Chinese restaurant with a nice varied menu. Everything had it's own taste and flavour (I've often find that some Chinese places can have some "samey-ness" about them) with a few of the dishes being real stand outs. In fact many of the dishes tend to have their own little twist to them.
Is it stunning? No, but you won't be disapointed either. Very pleasant and enjoyable meal.
A throughly enjoyable meal of dim sum, beef randang, salt & pepper squid, eggplant, roti & rice - fantastic flavours! The staff are great, attentive ensuring you're enjoying your meal without being intrusive. Will certainly be going back.
Favourite Asian style food, salt and pepper tofu is to die for ! Restaurant is spacious, have had a few big tables there and the staff are great ! Need to get back there soon.
First time here and we left satisfied and happy. Food is excellent quality and fresh. Service is pleasant and speedy. We will be back for sure and recommend to our friends. Tried the shredded beef with sesame, grilled beef tenderloin very tender and juicy. Salt and pepper calamari very nice. Kids loved the pork buns and prawn dumplings. Next time we would like to dine by the water garden table. Highly recommend.
Consistently excellent. Love ordering from here, we always get the chills chicken dumplings and sesame beef loin, with steamed rice and pork buns, yum!
We love this place. I don't understand the bad reviews, we think it is amazing. The Malay Style King Prawns are so delicious and the most gigantic prawns you've ever seen. The Seafood Fried Rice is also delicious, I could eat that rice every day. The Black Pepper Beef is also a winner, beautiful, succulent pieces of beef with an amazing peppery sauce. Service is also very attentive and they are generally happy people and good to have a little laugh with.
Great dumpling. I have tried some of the best dimsums at potsticker. My favourite was the beef. Dumpling. We ordered crispy chicken and teriyaki beef as mains, the sauce from the crispy chicken was jam packed full of flavour and the beef was of good quality and extremely tender. If your passing by, have a try. Try the custard dessert dumpling.
Had yum Cha on wed excellent food . Service very good .
If you want good Chinese food, you've got to expect a bit of a price rise. I love the food here. The wait staff are very attentive and you can tell that there is heart in this place. Eric is so great and asking us to try new and different things on his menu. I'm happy to pay for this level of Chinese food.
A pearl. Great location, excellent service & delicious food. Had twice already chicken basil. Not cheap ...
An easy evening. Very nice food at a reasonable price. service was attentive and atmosphere Is family friendly.
Dumpling heaven. Firstly I never pay attention to a negative review written by a person with one review to their name. Anyway I had been wanting to eat here for a year and was very impressed. Service was a little too keen and too attentive but the food was mostly very delicious. Duck san choi bao was amazing. Won ton soup was great but the broth was needing a bit more depth and freshness. Chilli chicken dumplings were great but a bit doughy. Har gaw were full of delicious prawns but the wrapper needs refining, still I could eat these all day. Fried beef potstickers were probably the let down. Pork dumplings were really good. Custard buns were the best I've ever had. Would love to back for yum cha.
Yum cha lunch...ok. Attended at 12pm on a Friday for lunch.
I had read plenty of outstanding reviews of the restaurant so I thought that I had better try it out it ever in Caufield.
The Potstickers (pan fried beef dumplings) were avg.
The vegetable steamed dumplings - poor- as if they had used frozen diced veggies.
The snake beans and chicken mince- excellent;
Duck san choi boi- excellent;
Steamed prawn dumpling-ok;
Satay chicken- horrible (weird watery satay sauce);
Chilli dumplings- ok
Fried rice- excellent;
Fried ice cream- delicious.
Service was excellent and accommodating to our needs.
Not sure if we would trek down to Caufield to visit again. A pleasant meal.
Food was delicious and reasonably priced, service was excellent, friendly/helpful staff and lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely be going back and have recommended to others as well.
Recommended.. Haven't dined in but get a lot of takeaway from here.
Highly recommend the poached red chilli chicken dumplings, XO chilli king prawns and teriyaki beef tenderloin.
A bit pricier than other Chinese/Asian but the servings are pretty good.
The food here was soooo good!!! And the service was great. It's true they didn't give the price of specials like other reviews state but you could ask? This place was great and I'll definitely be back
Loved the dumplings and mango pudding.
Been twice. Excellent food, meat dishes are cooked to perfection, very fresh. Like the decor. Efficient service.
Good food. Yum Cha is good, been here twice now and enjoyed both occasions. Make sure you ask for the list so you can order your favourites, otherwise they just keep bringing out a small selection to choose from. Nice surroundings too - not your typical 'Chinese restaurant'!
On a busy saturday night we were placed at the communal water feature table which had a brightly lit tree in the middle of it. Certainly something you don't normally see but it added to the Japanese feel. After waiting a few minutes for a menu, we ordered the $38 banquet. There were 5 dishes included and all were truly delicious. The highlights being the BBQ beef which was so tender, the seafood & bean curd soup & the mango panna cotta which topped the meal off perfectly. Whilst the service was a touch slow at times, with a banquet it is probably a good thing so you don't feel rushed. Overall, an excellent experience. Looking forward to returning to try the dumplings!
Been twice. Have been twice once for dinner and once for Yumcha - think the Yum cha dissapointing as you need to order the sharing plates - but everything was delicious.
Am going again tonight.
Not bad. A little pricey but fairly tasty. We'll be back
We love coming here as a family. Favorites include: the unusual but tasty laksa dumplings. The honey chicken is a big hit with the kids. Service is fast and the atmosphere is just like home (except for the pink tree and fountain on display in the centre of the restaurant). We definitely don't have one of those at home.
This place is great!. This is a review that is not written after a one off experience. I have been to the Potsticker around 5 times and that is because I love it. The food is really wonderful, fresh and tasty. I can't understand the reviewer who wrote that things are microwaved - what nonsense! The Potsticker takes food seriously and this is so evident in the care given with the menu - it is an Asian restaurant not a Chinese restaurant so the food is influenced by Malay, Chinese and Japanese. So not just a cheapish Chinese restaurant as some reviewers obviously think.
The staff are very well trained, and in fact I have always commented on the level of service (so don't know why some think this is not the case).
The Potsticker replaced a series of restaurants that came before it.....none of them on the same level of Potsticker and being a local, I hope the Potsticker remains for a very long time to come.
And yes, I've also been to Ripples many times (another local) and although the food is very good there - I think Potsticker is so much better. A more upmarket dining experience.
This place seems to have become a victim of some cowardly hate campaign. Just check out the incredibly generic "usernames" and multiple posts by the same people.
Don't believe everything you read, this restaurant has come a long way in a very short time. The staff are polite and even a little soft spoken, and the food may be a little more expensive than usual but the great presentation and serene atmosphere make up for it. Tasty little dumplings, will be back!
What negative nonsense some people concoct.
My experience was positive, the prawns were big and fresh (not the frozen type), the dumplings were tasty and the service was fine.
A good local Asian restaurant.
Excellent but Pricey. Can not fault food or service, price a little expensive compared with similar yum cha ie oriental tea house or David's
Great modern Asian food we get takeaway once a week. I was abit tentative when they moved in as everything before pots ticker in this venue has been a dismal failure for many years. Great place
I went for dinner there a few weeks back and it was nice, then decided to go for yum cha... Hmmmm well it was ok.. Very expensive for yum cha.. The dumplings were pretty bland and squid over salted, the service just ok.. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.. For what you get it's very over priced and really not worth the money $145 for 3 of us including 2 glasses of wine and a few cokes.. So I won't be rushing back
Best Beef Potstockers!. We've had take away from here a couple of times and it's been fantastic! The panfried beef potstickers are delicious, best I've ever had, also the crispy shredded beef is amazing! Teriyaki beef was cooked to perfection, so tender and delicious.
Will definitely eat here again wether it's take away or dine in.
Highly recommended.
Pleasant. We had a lovely yum cha. Great Peking duck and a few different things. Overall great food but a touch expensive
Very Promising. Service was prompt and attentive, food was delicious. The dumplings we had as an entree were exceptional and I will be back for yum cha to explore them more fully. Few businesses survive long on this piece of real estate, but The Potsticker deserves to buck the trend and thrive.
Love this new local!. Just reading the other reviews on this page and cant believe how harsh they are to a restaurant that has only just opened? I have found every time I have dined at Potsticker I am amazed at just how well they have got it together in such a short time. In the five times I have been there, the place has been practically full so they have been under alot of pressure early. I also wonder what immediate competition they are talking about? I find Nth Caulfield full of homestyle, poorly presented restaurants. Finally someone who knows what they are doing! I will be supporting this restaurant because they have had the guts to invest in this area, I just hope everyone else does too as this is a real gem. We loved the food and I was impressed with the service. I thought the peking duck was up there with the very best I have ever had. Yum Cha was fantastic as well. I highly recommend the Potsticker and think armchair critics should start up their own restaurant and see how hard it is to have everything perfect from day one.
Wow.... An amazing dining experience, menu, food and service were beyond expectations, a welcome addtion to dining in Caulfield.
Five of us came to The Potsticker in Caulfield North on a Saturday night for a feed. We ordered two of the Aussie Banquets, as well as vegetable Hokkien noodles, chicken and corn soup, hot tea, and we enjoyed the complimentary prawn crackers. The restaurant is quite fancy, and the food was also very delicious. Customer service was pretty good. Thank you Potsticker.
The pork waffle and dumplings were great!
The XO prawns were a bit of a let down but the other mains were tasty.
The fried ice cream and fried Banana were amazing.
Went to Potsticker for a birthday dinner, and experience was outstanding!
Staff were great, nice to talk to- and efficient in taking your order.
Scenery inside is amazing, with a big pond in the middle nicely decorated and a good bar with a lot of options.
Food was tasty and nice.
Highly recommended, whether dine-in, takeaway or delivery.
Very tasty yum cha with excellent service and wine list in lovely setting. Ornamental blossom tree with lights and water feature is a highlight centrepiece in the restaurant .
Beautiful venue with beautiful food and attentive staff. Lovely place to sit down for Chinese food.
The water feature within the venue adds to an additional touch to the otherwise nicely layout restaurant. Menu selection at lunchtime is done through traditional pen on paper ticks and you find yourself asking did I just order too much. The dishes start piling in and you soon start to feel that you just can’t stop eating or stop enjoying the next piece. In the end you’re full while thinking whether there’s any room left for desert. With its friendly staff I’ll definitely give his place another visit soon.
Would 100% recommend this place. The food was amazing! And the variety of drinks is incredible. Great cocktails and a wide range of wines.
