Dined here with some friends after stage 1 release of restrictions- max 20 customers at a time. Service was fast, dumplings were beautiful. We ordered 3 types of xiao long bao and loved the traditional and š¦ crab ones the most. Happy days.
Hands down, my fav xiao long bao place & probs even for dumpling as well. Plus if you're on Zomato Gold, you are eligible for 10% of the total bill.
Ordered:
Steamed Pork Dumpling (15 pcs) $10.6
Traditional Steamed Xiao Long Bao $11.8
Steamed Xiao Long Bao (Crab & Pork) $13.8
Kung Pao Chicken Noodles š $13.9
Just amazing, best xiao long bao - juicy. Even the steamed dumplings were good, my Shanghai friend verified it.
It is to note that the kung pao chicken noodles are not that good, tasted more like sweet & sour chicken rather than kung pao.

The place is really famous for Xiao long baos and dumplings. Visited this place with friends and was really impressed with the quality and flavour of the dishes served here.
Pros:
Good ambience. A busy place indicates the food is good and that brings the crowd each day.
Value for money.
All dishes have great flavour!
Unlimited serves of tea and chilli oil which I donāt find at many dumpling places.
Cons:
Long waiting lines on the weekends, which is justified in a way, but be prepared.
Your order might take some time to arrive because of the crowd.
Dishes you must try:
ā¢Chicken and Prawn dumplings in chilli oil
ā¢Xiao long baos (pork or chicken/prawn)
ā¢Fried pork dumplings
ā¢If you like tofu you must try the fresh curd with preserved egg (not my favourite but my friends seemed to enjoy it)
You have to queue for a short while at lunch time but the staff are efficient at getting diners seated as quickly as possible, with menus given in the queue so you can preorder. Food is good, generous and comes out hot and fast. Staff could be friendlier but all in all itās a great value for money option for lunch.
This restaurant gets quite busy for lunch, so best to come here right on 12 for lunch. It is a large restaurant with comfortable seating and great service. We ordered the xiao long bao, noodles in oil, pork dumplings and chicken dumplings. Delicious and recommend mixing the available sauces to dip the dumplings in. Will definitely come back.
No doubt this restaurant will always have a line to dine in! Have been here twice and it has been consistent in their fast paced service and food. Ordered the classic xlb, mini Shanghai wontons, shanghai fried rice cakes, Shanghai fried noodles and pan fried buns. Wouldnāt say their pan fried buns are the best, but the Shanghai fried rice cakes, wontons and fried noodles were amazing!
Would recommend to come with a group of friends to share a variety of dishes, however do be aware there will probably be some wait time!
The best dumplings in town!!
Good quality food which is definitely worth its price. The place is often packed, and you often place your orders while you are waiting in line outside due to how busy it gets. Apart from how busy it gets, and the staff rushing you towards the end of your meal, itās a great spot for dumplings!
Great fast and furious: Tokyo drift, well Asian cuisine anyway. Great flavors and quality. The beef and bean curd spicy pot creates a food high and the black bean was excellent. Definitely returning.
My girlfriend and I tend to come here on Wednesday afternoons just when the place is about to be opened again. The service here is quite fast and reliable however there are times when it gets busy and they cannot tend to you which is understandable. Their xiao long baos are to die for and their dumplings are simply delicious, would recommend this place to those looking for a cheap meal but want to indulge themselves for a rich taste.
This is myĀ go-to dumpling place. The peking pork boiled dumplings and the wontons with peanut sauce and chilli oil are two dishes I absolutly have to order every time. The food comes out fast, the staff are lovely, and ive never had a bad dish.
Xiaolongbao is always my favourite food.waiting for 10-15mins on Friday night is not bad. Love the noodles and buns...very fresh and handmade xiaolongbao.
The layout of this restaurant is so well thought out. My partner and I decided to have a quick lunch and we were mostly impressed! The Kung Pao Chicken was mouth-wateringly delicious as were the pan-fried Sheng Jian Bao. I must say that were disappointed with the Pork Xiaolongbao as they lacked flavour. We will definitely be frequenting here.
Have been going there for dumplings for years. Cheap eats done right. I love the chicken prawn pan fried dumplings the best! Xiaolongbao is not bad either. Always busy with a queue outside but the queue moves fast. They let you check out the menu while waiting so you don't need to wait for food. All in all a great place to have a quick bite!
Feeling like quick and affordable chinese food? Shanghai Street has got you!
FOOD: We ordered the Kung Pao Chicken Noodles and the Pan Fried Pork Buns. The Kung Pao Chicken itself was great and the marinate was delicious but the noodles were abit bland on their own so you have to eat it with the kung pao chicken. The Pan Fried Pork Buns is not too bad. The soup and meat was delicious but the bun was abit hard and stale and not soft and pillowy but crunchy at the bottom as I would like it to be.
SERVICE: Service is what youād expect from a fast pace chinese restaurant. Donāt expect top notch service but be grateful if theyāre decent.
ā¤ļø xiao long bao pork ($11.80); wonton in chilli oil ($11.80); fried slice rice cakes ($12.80); boiled pecking dumplings ($10)
š Fried Chicken and prawn dumplings ($11.80); mini wontons in soup ($7.50)
š very good value for money; food comes out very fresh and hot
š moderate queue at 6pm, Friday night; waited 15 minutes in line; food came out within 15 minutes after being seated
āļødumplings comes out hot but quickly becomes cold and hard within 10 minutes, so it is best to consume quickly! Xiao long bao is a must try here!
Great xiao long baos that are flavoursome and big.
Cheap dumplings but dont expect good service.
Worth the line up if you are after tasty xiao long baos.
The xiaolongbaos were super satisfying and delicious, the meat was juicy and the dumpling itself had the perfect amount of broth within. We got a plain noodles in broth as well, this was a simple dish but the broth was so light and flavourful and satisfying on a cold day.
Best xiao long baos/dumplings in Melbourne!!! šš¼šÆ iāve been here pleeeenty of times and every time I go here, thereās ALWAYS a queue no matter what time of the day it is (queue moves quickly, plus you can order while queuing up). Food is consistently yummy šš¼
Shanghai cuisine here is pretty good and I have tried the real thing in Shanghai.
Must order items are the XLB soup dumpling and the fried meat buns. Both squirts out hot soup. So be careful.
If you are adventurous, you should try the fried eel dish, tomato porcupine fish and the fish noodles crab soup.
When we first got there, the queue was massive and we ended up waiting for around 40 minutes. But during the wait, our orders were taken. So once we're given a seat, the food came out right after. The service was great and prompt. However, the highlight of the course was their ēē
å
and shanghai fried noodles yums!! I'd definitely go back for their xiaolongbao and some other stuffs from the menu. It was def worth the wait (or we should come earlier next time to avoid the queue)
Never get sick of this xiaolongbao restaurant. Usually you gotta queue to get sit but it is worth to join in the queue.
š Shanghai fried noodle is my always go to menu to order. It has smoked flavour and very tasty!
š„ Xiaolongbao was amazing as well
š„ Prawn and chicken dumpling was delicious š¤¤
Will I be back? Surely
It’s no secret that my favourite place for dumplings in Melbourne’s CBD is Hutong, but my favourite dumpling dish is a whole another story. Whilst chili wonton’s are far from a stranger to the dumpling scene, Shanghai Street’s pork and prawn chilli peanut wontons take it to the next level - the rich and creamy nutty sauce paired with the spice of the chili oil will makes it hard for you to stop to going back for more.
Everything was delish but the waiter took all our sauces away before I had finished eating.
Also if its your first time visiting this store they have complimentary tea and water which we didnt know. We were asked to make our order while we waited outside so by the time we got in and saw it, it was too late.
The restaurant was extremely busy, yet our dishes were served to us only minutes later! It was amazing service, for relatively cheap and pretty good food too.
There is something comforting about having noodles and dumplings on a chilly night. We ordered the crabmeat soup dumplings, chicken and prawn fried dumplings and a Shanghai fried noodles to share. The soup dumpling skin was thin and smooth and the soup burst out of its skin when we bit into it. Delicious. The fried dumplings were moreish and served to us piping hot and the noodles were coated in dark thick savoury sauce - so yummy.
We have just finished eating one of the best asia meals I've had in the city, maybe beyond that.
While there was a bit of a queue when we arrived, it moved really quickly and we were writing our order as we were called to a table.
Service was quick, considering how busy it was and our food was amazing!
We had the pork dumplings, stir fried sichuan pork belly and kungpao chicken, I would reccomend each one without a doubt!

Popular with everyone, this restaurant could do with some more seating. The tables are small and I felt quite squished. Service is fast so they turn over a lot of sittings in a day.
Staff are friendly and take your order quickly. We were in and out in under 45 minutes so no time to really dawdle over our meal.
Of course there are others that are in their lunch break so this was ideal for them.
Dumplings are great. Portion sizes good. Did enjoy the chilli Oort dry noodles. You can watch them being made at the window in the front. Men and women in something of a fish bowl putting dumplings together. Not really wheelchair friendly because itās so tight inside. Same for pram/stroller. Parking? Well itās Chinatown so there is none. Dietaries catered for - to a point. Takeaway available.
Shanghai street xiaolongbao in Chinatown. It is one of my best xiaolongbao stores it is quite authentic to Shanghainese style. It is always a long queue and highly recommended
Great dumpling and a very reasonable price. This had always been my best value for money place and hasnāt failed to satisfy over the years. In the pic you will see we ate the pan friend pork dumplings and the steamed xiao bao, I would recommend them both.
Shanghai Street has been on our list of Dumpling eateries for a really long time, especially for Xiaolongbao - a type of Chinese steamed bun that are steamed in a bamboo steamer known as Xialong, and are a very famous Shanghai street food. Also, they are very different from the Vietnamese Steamed Baos / Buns.
After lot of 'Ifs and Buts' pertaining to how good a combination of Pork and Crab would be we ordered a Pork.and Crab XiaolongBao and Prawns and Chicken fried Dumplings

- āXiaoLong Bao - 8pcsā ($11.80): *the* classic at every dumpling restaurant. These were fantastic, and came out at the perfect temperature for eating whole as theyāre meant to be.
- āFried pork dumpling - 12pcsā ($10.80): good.
- āPork & prawn wonton in chilli, peanut sauce - 15pcsā ($11.80): my favourite! Loved the peanut chilli sauce, and the wontons were delicious.
š· AMBIENCE: recently redecorated, so the ambience was nicer than most other dumpling restaurants, with comfortable seats and good lighting.

Would definitely revisit, if not this outlet, then another one in the city!
Shanghai Street Dumpling Xiaolongbao & Dumpling is one of my favourite dumpling places in Melbourne! (Especially this branch - corner of Elizabeth St and Little Bourke St)
It is quite a small store and can get busy very quickly. Usually there is a line in front of the store, and youāll have to wait in line.
Today I came late afternoon around 2.30 PM, which is nearly closing time but they still let us come in.
I ordered a snack to share between me and my partner. 1 fried pork dumplings which came out soon after. The dumplings are always juicy and full of flavour, so very delicious. Iāve never had a bad experience in terms of food.
However sometimes the customer service is poor at times. It is very busy so itās understandable.
I would rate this place 4.5/5!
If you are in a hurry, I wouldnāt recommend lining up to sit down and eat due to the popularity causing long lines. Instead order takeout - literally I call ahead of time and usually the food will be ready to pick up within 15 minutes. Itāll save you a lot more time and you get to enjoy a delicious meal!
Looking for a cheap filling place? This one is for you
Ordered:
Shanghai fried noodles: $11.8
Pork Peking dumplings (12pcs): $10
Peanut chilli oil prawn/pork wontons (15pcs) : $11.8
Review:
The service is less than stellar but I think this place is a quantity over quality type of restaurant. The food is good for its price, the dumplings were to die for. Especially the Peking dumplings those were a steal! The filling was juicy but I found that the skin was a bit thick for my liking. The wontons were amazing, the skin was thin..almost translucent! Filling had just the right amount of prawn and pork ratio, sauce was creamy, nutty, spicy and Smokey definitely a must. The Shanghai noodles were average, wouldāve loved more vegetables in it!
Went here tonight. But also been other nights. I went with my ex girl friend and her siblings. Was great to catch up with them and eat dumplings together just like old times.
Very authentic dumplings and extremely quick service. Waited almost 40 minutes to be seated but I wouldnāt hesitate to do it again as the dumplings are definitely worth itās wait!
Shanghai Street is definitely my go-to for comfort food, because I love dumplings. You canāt go wrong with the xiao long bao. The wonton in peanut sauce was good, it had more peanut flavour and less oil, compared to the one I had in other outlet. The steamed bread was a bit too thick. The pork had too much fat, it couldnāt fit in the bread, but it was really good, though. Still one of my favourite!
Another place to add to my ever-growing list of restaurants that make a good rice cake (for a decent price at that). If you get dumplings here, you're boring, as the other menu items reign supreme. The vegetarian sliced rice cake is top pick. It's cooked well (the cakes don't stick together), not too oily, and served with a greens and shrooms mixed through. Ordered it with mock duck for protein (pretty stock standard fried beancurd skin stuffed with mushrooms) and sung Choi bao to meet my veg quota for the day. Recommend, as the fresh lettuce cups are the perfect vehicle for scooping up a little mix of all three dishes. May not be traditional, but I'm all about mixing dishes that don't "go together" and turning whatever I eat into a burrito. Who cares if the people on either side of me judged? They ended up ordering the rice cake too.

I could smell the aroma coming from a street away. The store being enormous, hence why there was a long line. Despite the queue, staff welcomed us with menus so we could order in line and save us time from waiting when we get a seat. This place is a lot more spacious than the one on the same lane.
We ordered the classic xiao long bao which is always a hit, juicy and full of meat. We also got the fried chicken and prawn which was steaming hot and my absolute favourite. I tried jellyfish for the first time and it was amazing, almost addicting. a creative combination I did was mix the jellyfish with the sauce on the shanghai noodles, and I would recommend.
The shanghai fried noodles is a must try alongside the xiao long bao. The mushroomy and thickened oyster sauce on the noodles gets you slurping for more.
I never order pan fried pork dumplings because I think itās not worthy of restaurant food but I was wrong. This restaurant knows how to cook their dumplings to perfection, where the inside is still juicy and fatty, with the outside being textured with their crisp. Will now be ordering this every time I visit this restaurant!
For two people, it was too much, we were so full. But $40 for 2 is something worth after work night.
Came here for work lunch, good dumplings of course I got the xiaolongbao and pork and prawn dumplings with bacon fried rice, good dumplings good pricing and nice staff only issue was small seats and tables . Will go again .
We happened to be walking around in the area at 12 noon when the shop first opened for business. There was already a line of people waiting outside. We managed to get a table immediately but 5 min later there was a queue formed which snakes around the corner. The boiled pork dumplings were really tasty and loaded with fillings. I wasnāt quite a fan of the fried chicken and prawn dumplings though. Should have tried the fried pork buns and xiaolongbao too but we were not that hungry
This would be the second time I dined with my friends at Shanghai Street outlet in Chinatown and we always leave the place satisfied. Service is very efficient. The only downside is queue outside the building can be quite long so itās best to come a bit early. Their dumplings are quite standard with skin that is a bit in the thicker side but the soup dumplings are delicious. Price is quite reasonable so you canāt go wrong. I love the wontons with chilli & peanut sauce. Those are my favourite. As the place is always busy, itās not the type of restaurant which you can linger for long. Itās in, eat your food then out you go type of restaurant which I donāt mind at all.
Get ready to queue for some juicy dumplings. It was about a 10mins wait outside for us. The restaurant was packed on entering with tables and seats placed closely together to fit as many patrons as possible. The staff is not very friendly but service is fast and you will need to self service tea and water.
We came for the dumplings and it didn't disappoint as they were big, juicy, and freshly made. The xlb was bursting with soup and flavourful. The fried pork buns was also juicy but the juice was a little salty.
Definitely great value for a dumplings fix if you're not fuss waiting given there's always a line.
Best dumplings in Melbourne!!!
Honestly!
Service the first time I went here could have been a little bit better as the waitress forgot to put in our order and then we had to wait quite awhile! She was apologetic which was nice!!
Second time I went to Shanghai St Dumplings IT WAS GREAT! No complaints!!! So yum! So authentic! So cheap! Great!!!
If you are planning to go to Shanghai St remember to get there before 12pm! Usually a line to get in! So worth lining up!!!
3.5Ā
One of the more popular branches of Shanghai Street, you will see lines outside for a good reason.Ā
Shanghai Street's xiao long bao has a slightly thicker skin than other restaurants like Din Tai Fung or New Shanghai, but it still holds all the soup inside. Unfortunately some dumplings come a little dry or the soup has just run out of it, but when it's there, it's really addictively porky and tasty.
The pan fried buns are slightly larger, with slightly even thicker skin. The bottom half are crispy with a soft top being steamed. Be very careful though because the soup inside can melt your face off.
An oldie but a goodie. Thereās always a queue but I think their xiao long bao is worth the wait. Do try their vege dumplings and the pan fried pork dumplings. Vege fried rice is nothing to write home about though. Highlights: good dumplings and always piping hot (so watch out). Lowlights: I get they are trying to be efficient with the ordering process so they make you order when you are queuing up but Iām just not sure.. and also they do have MSG in their food so something to be aware of if you donāt like that addition.
Is there a joy in waiting?
In short YES, it's a small restaurant, part of the expanding empire of the "Shanghai Street" group. You can't reserve a table and all must be presence before they give you a table ... so you must be ready to wait in the queue and order your food while waiting, that if you "badly" wanted to eat here, hence I don't go back here on a regular basis, especially if you are in a bigger group than 2, 3 or 4 patrons. Sharing table is a common occurrence here too.
Foodwise, in general they do dumplings well, their a la carte are good too, well priced, consistent and that's why we go back here, be it in the queue waiting. Xiao Long Bao is their signature dumpling and they are good for under $15.00 for 8 pieces.
Cheap house wines or BYO ... reasonable corkage at $10.00/bottle.
Around $20.00/person if you are dining in a group, sampling a few different types of dumpling. Yes, there's always a joy in having good dumplings over a glass or two with good companies. JT-12/08/2018
What Great place. I have been there many times short waiting times, good tasty food not that I have tried many of their dishes I will when I can get over off theirĀ spicy chicken bits which comes with lots of peanuts and lots chilli.
The peanut butter thing was too spicy than what Iāve expected but the xiao long bao was beautiful as always. Very affordable price, service was good.
FOOD: XiaoLongBao were very juicy and scrumptious, my favourite was pork and crab XiaoLongBabies. We ordered one of the chilli oil soup dumplings, which was also very refreshing and feisty.
SERVICE: It was a bit of a wait but it was definitely worth it.
ATMOSPHERE: It was alright, very clean compared to most Chinese restaurants.
WOW FACTOR: Non-existent
RATING: 4/5
Walking through China town in Melbourne, we saw this line of people waiting to dine in at Shanghai Luo and Im one of those people where if I see a line, I would probably join in for the sake of my FOMO. Thankfully we were with a local and he pointed out that there was another branch that was just as tasty without the line.
Did it sound too good? Probably but we took my friends recommendation and we dined in at the āotherā branch. I actually really liked my time here the service was awesome. There was an lively atmosphere and a good mix of Asian and non-asian patrons. We ordered the Xiaolong bao obviously, and they were as expected fantastic. The dumpling held the sauce extremely well and when you bit into it a nice explosion of soupy beef flavour burst which was magnificent. We were actually supposed to go to another spot for dinner so we didnāt get to try more dishes although I did also order the Friday night special roast duck. The roast duck was also quite nice but the star of the show is 100% the Xiaolong bao.
All I can say is that Auckland Chinese restaurants need to step their game up.Ā
Showstopper: Xiaolong bao
Overall Grade: A
One of the best dumplings house Iāve been, the xiao long pao is delicious (not pictured, I was too slow). I highly rate the deep fried calamari with spicy salt and pepper. Iāll definitely add to my favourite food spot.
This place is my new favourite dumpling spot. Had pork fried dumplings, chicken and prawn boiled dumplings and the xiao long bao. Very juicy, flavourful dumplings. Very nice chilli oil to go with it.
Havnt tried the other dishes yet.
Great and juicy dumplings. Been her for few times and they always very packed and busy, prepare for a long line queuing if youāre coming during lunch and dinner time. But itās worth to wait.
My go to restaurant whenever Iām craving Xiao Long Bao and dumplings. Have been here several times and there is always a line. The service is quick and itās more of a quick dine. I feel like I donāt want people to wait long so I try to be quick. The food is always hot and fresh. It is always cheap as well, hence why I always come back š
Had the noodles with pork sauce, chicken and prawn XiaoLongBao, mini fried pork bun, and fried pork dumpling.
The noodles kicked off with a good start, a lot of meat and heavy on flavour. The noodles were thin-medium thickness and loved the texture. Overall a satisfying bowl of noodle with great value.
The XiaoLongBao gave a bit of a mixed feeling, almost no soup in it, meat was packed into a solid ball. The pork variant would have been the better option.
The mini fried pork bun turned out pretty well. Nice crust, had more soup than the XLB, more flavourful as well.
The fried pork dumpling was good as well, skin is not thick, good crust, good size.
Casual meal with satisfying mouthfuls for a great price.
Ordered (from favourite to least favourite):
- Traditional xiaolongbao: juicy, full of flavour, great texture
- Zhajiangmian (noodles in sweet bean and peanut sauce with pork mince, dry): reminds me of noodles I've had in china, and goes great as an accompaniment
- Pork and prawn wonton soup: liked the flavour of the wonton, but didn't stand out as much as the other dishes
- Fried vegetable dumpling: was crispy and vegetable inside was tasty but it got boring after a while
I also really liked the chilli oil they had, the chilli in it was actually crispy, not like basic bottled chilli oil.
Ambience and service - was okay, as expected from this kind of busy Chinatown joint. Unfortunately, there's usually a queue for dinner.
Slightly over $40 for 4 great dishes with pretty big portions, definitely enough to feed at least 3. I would definitely come back.
Even at 5:30, we needed to line up and wait in queue. We decided what to order in queue so that it took short time for us to be served after have a seat. Xiaolongbao was so juicy which worth a try. Chicken were fresh and its skin tastes really good. Rice cake can serve you so full and reminded me of my mumās cooking.
Been here a few times before, generally you have to line up for this place and for a 20mins~ wait, I think it's worth it. The value for the food here is great with average dishes costing around the $10 mark.Ā This time we went for a weekend lunch. A quick pork mince noodle paired with a dumpling in soup to clear things up. An on point combo. I think what made this place so good was the chilli oil they have on the table. Honestly, you can't get enough of it. Chilli oil on noodles, chilli oil on dumplings, even chilli oil in soup (not really) its that good. šRecommended place, even if you just want to order steamed rice and add the chilli oil on top
One of melbourne's most popular dumpling venues. be prepared to queue, but it's generally not for long and the food is worth it. it's cheap, tasty and quick.
its everything you'd expect from Melbourne's China town.
Get in early to avoid the long waits! There is more space for large groups compared to the Shanghai Street restaurant on the other side of Little Bourke St. Still a bit squishy, but the service is fast and the wait time for food (once you're in) is quite quick.
The xiao long bao dumplings are a must-have, and the boiled dumplings are very tasty (the pastry skins are not too thick and the fillings are full of flavour). I found the pan-fried dumplings were way too crispy, as the entire outside was hard (like they were fully fried) and tough to eat. This is the opposite to our preferences at the other Little Bourke Street restaurant!
For some reason I have always overlooked this place when looking for a feast of dumplings in Chinatown. There is always a line of people waiting out the front, so I presumed it must be good. After a few drinks, and before a comedy show, a couple of friends and I decided to check it out.
We joined the queue out the front, and a waitress gave us menus and invited us to order while we waited. Great move! The queue moved quickly, and a serve of dumplings arrived at our table at the same time as we did!
We ordered pork and prawn wontons with peanut and sesame sauce, chicken and prawn dumplings (fried), pork and crab xiao long bao, fried pork mini buns, shanghai noodles, green beans with pork mince and chinese broccoli with oyster sauce.
The food did not disappont. A few standouts:
The wontons were incredible... silky wonton skin, with plump parcels of pork and prawn, smothered in peanut and sesame sauce. This was the collective favourite of the table.
The xiao long bao were also delicious. The dumplings were loaded with soup, and the filling was very smooth with a distinct crab taste. A friend who isnt a huge fan of seafood was put off by this, but personally I love crab, so I really enjoyed the strong flavour.
The beans with pork mince were so more-ish. The beans had the most delicious salty, porky flavour and were cooked perfectly, with a heap of crispy porky goodness on top :)
My least favourite dish was the Shanghai noodles. They were still very enjoyable and I would order them again. I think im just used to having Shanghai noodles with slightly thicker noodles and more veggies and meat mixed in... which is probably just personal preference.
There are places that do better Shanghai noodles, but it would be very difficult to beat these dumplings.
Very nice Xiaolongbao over there. The fried and steamed Xiaolongbao were really good. Quite crowd place that almost everytime got there, there was a long queue. But it definitely worth waiting for.
Located china town , customer service , and dining atmosphere not bad . The Shanghai xiaolong pao is great and tasty , and others food such dumpling vegetables . Very very very good ^^ thumbs up . Lastly the price reasonable ^^ .
Heard so much about this place I had to try. Long queue but moves very fast. Food came pretty fast. Nice. Like the dumplings in chili oil. Very tender and juicy. Was recommended the fried XLB. Not bad. Double the size of the normal XLB. Interesting. Staffs were professional. Didn't rush us even though the queue was long. We just need to be sensible and not sit there too long.
A friend took me here and we ordered the 6 piece mini fried pork bun, 12 piece fried pork dumplings and spring onion oil noodles. Everything was of a reasonable price and although we were the first customers to come by it got busy in a matter of minutes! The fried buns had a crispy bottom and flavoursome filling which was my favourite out of all dishes, the dumplings were fresh and delicious š the noodles were plain/bland which was understandable but had a nice bite and just the right amount of oil to it. Looking forward to going back and trying some other dishes š
I come here all the time as it is my favorite place to have xiao long bao! Being Shanghainese I am very picky when it comes to this cuisine and Shanghai Street is the closest to what my grandparents make as you can get . I honestly only really love the xiao long baos here as the other dishes are ok, but I will still rate it a 4.0 as they are just that good !
Service ~ 9/10
Food ~ 8/10
Atmosphere ~ 6/10
Perfect for pre turn up fuel to line the stomach or a hearty starched meal after a night of Pino Gris.
Pretty busy place, so get there before the Friday lunch rush if you can! I ordered the pork and prawn wonton soup and the Shanghai mini fried pork buns and they were pretty good! Everything came out relatively quick, which was nice as we were on a lunch break. The only slightly negative thing is the 50c takeaway box charge, but I guess I'd prefer to pay that than waste food. All in all, it was a good dining experience and staff were friendly, too! Will return for more yummy food!
Pan fried pork dumplings were great!
Green veges were also good.
Hot and sour soup was ok but came out too late and was a bit cold.
Would recommend the dumplings!
Having pass by it many times to find a long queue outside its restaurant, expectations were really high for me. Finally decided to give it a try and went for dinner at 5.30pm to avoid the crowd. Still had to wait about 15mins for a table. Ordered the famous xiao long bao and a few other dishes. Xiao long bao is decent with nice amount of broth and meat in it. Other dishes were so so. Nice place to go to get your XLB fix.
I love this place. Itās good dumplings for very cheap. The service is quick and at lunch time they try and get a quick turn over. Itās not somewhere you would go for a fancy dinner out. They take your order while you are in the queue and then seat you and bring the food out. If you want a cheap bite to eat I would recommend this place for lunch. There is usually a queue out the door but you donāt have to wait very long till you are seated. Ideal for students because of the price.
What a place! Fresh made dumplings ordered while you are waiting in line - this place is has speedy service down to a fine art. Seriously though, dumplings were perfection - full of flavour, incredibly fresh and cooked al dente. Fried rice was nice but dumplings are by far the winner here!

My friend brought me to the restaurant & we had dinner at there a few weeks ago. Friend suggested Traditional Steamed Pork XiaoLongBao, it tasted really delicious with the juicy contents but it was real hard to take them off the paper in the bamboo steamer without breaking their skin even though we tried our best to eat them before they got cold which will make them harder to remove ššš
We also ordered the Boiled Chicken & Prawn Dumplings, its taste wasn't as good as I expected as I have tried tastier dumplings of the same version from other places. Tried their Steamed Pumpkin Cake too, it was okay, I finished 4 pcs of it since my friend was already full from the other dishes, my stomach was filled with sticky sweet happiness that night hahahahššā¤
Service was prompt, prices are decent. Overall this restaurant is a great place for filling up tummies without spending too much money.
I overdid it by ordering three serves of dumplings BUT I still ate everything! The beauty of a place this busy is the freshness of the dishes. Served piping hot and packed full of delicious ingredients, you wonāt be disappointed. Itās busy at lunch but the team does whatever they can to seat you promptly
If you are the Bao person that I recommend Original XiaoLongBao and pen fried bao. Every time I return here for the bao and spring onion oil chicken.
But as for the hot and sour soup, thatās the worst I ever had. Never try it.
Food is delicious for a good price.
We tried the pork xiao long bao, fried rice and the dried pork noodles. Everything was amazing.
The establishment is quite noisy and stressful. You just go there to eat, not the best to keep a conversation or for a date. But you also appreciate this fact when you are lining up and they are able to take you in few minutes.
I always go to this branch for dumplings and I always leave satisfied.
The xiao long bao were absolutely delicious. The soup was so flavorful. The xiao long bao were a complete delight to eat in this chilly weather.
The pan-fried bao were delicious, too. The pork filling was juicy and shrimp plump. I recommend eating it with the chili sauce.
I recommend getting some hot tea to accompany with the meal.
This place is so good that there is always a queue when we arrive. Awesome vegan options for the dumplings and really quick service! āŗļø
Couldnāt believe how cheap this place was given the 10% weekend surcharge + amazing quality. My fave was the chilli with peanut butter dumplings, the sauce was so nutty and addictive.. Cooked so well! The xiao long bao was also one of the best Iāve had - so meaty with perfect soup portion.
