Yummy food deliver to your door during stage 4 lockdown. The portion is still big and good value for money. It’s also taste amazing.
Very tasty rendang beef with salad instead of rice. Low carb dieter friendly, highly recommend
Killiney is quite a famous brand dishing out Malaysian food but what they are mostly known is for Kopi aka Coffee and Kaya Toast, and to be honest, we haven't tried anything other than exactly that.
When we came across Killiney on our way to Elephant and the Wheel Barrow how wouldn't we try it, right?
And the Verdict? Loved it.
Although a bit different from the Malaysian food we have had , nevertheless Tasty and Inexpensive.
Vegan / Vegetarians have decent option to choose from too.
Service was quite friendly and efficient. And yes, we did order Coffee too. 🙈🙈
Pretty authentic nasi lemak with beef rendang. Was craving some confort Malaysian food and this really hit the spot. Generous serving of beef rendang and rice with all the trimmings (chilli, egg, peanuts, ikam bilis). Have to come back and try the other dishes. Also very reasonably priced.
My score 3.75 stars (a bit patchy – some dishes good and a bargain, others cheap but average). J got takeaway for dinner from here on Sat 26th Oct (late arvo). Really lovely staff, large clean interior.
Nasi Lemak A (fried fish and curry chicken $12.90) – Coconut rice was nice. Thick sambal was good, but tiny amount. Ikan bilis very good – crunchy but not fishy. Peanuts moreish. 2 small pieces of cucumber! 1 boiled egg was nice. 2 bits deep-fried whole small fish – crunchy, tasty, I ate the entire fish (J gave me the tail from hers). Was good, but would have been heaps nicer if eaten fresh in-house (I wouldn’t get takeaway fish again). 3 pieces of chicken and lots of really good curry sauce. 2 pieces were a bit light on for meat, but overall it was a generous amount and tasty. I would get the straight chicken version next time if having takeaway.
Mee Goreng Veggie and tofu ($10.50) – Was ok. Tofu puffs were nice, but not heaps of them. Not heaps of veg really either, but PLENTY of noodles.
Fried Kway Teow Seafood ($10.50) – Charry, very dark in colour. Quite thin noodles – would have preferred wider ones (texture of dish wasn’t quite right IMO). 3 prawns were a bit dry. Fishcake was nice, but cut very thinly - would have preferred thicker. A bit spicy, overall not bad.
This restaurant is an absolute treasure sitting on Bourke street and serving up large and delicious food everyday. And it’s 100% halal!! (They do serve alcohol however). I tried the nasi goreng with chicken and asked the staff to make it extra spicy, this dish was absolutely delicious and served the right amount of spice for a spice lover like myself. In addition to that, the drinks from this place are also good however some are too sweet, my personally favorite are the chai and the lychee drink. This place is really nice however some furniture is worn out and the staff can sometimes get too busy in rearranging of things while customers are sitting which makes it a bit weird but overall I absolutely loved this restaurant! Would recommend!!
Killiney Kopitiam is the lagi best place to get unique tasty Mee Pok Noodles in Melbourne.
I go there often to dig in to my heart’s content.
The sauce is delicious and the noodles are QQ. The portion is well sized and the set meal is best value for $$$. They have Bandung and other special drinks sia.
The Nasi Lemak is sumptuous too and you can add extra sambal with no charge.
The restaurant is clean and well decorated and the radio music is interestingly specific to the cuisine ethnicity.
The toilet is clean, well maintained and spacious.
It’s value for money and the staff are friendly and professional.
I give it 5 stars.
I highly recommend you to bring your family, colleagues and friends down there this week. :)
Authentic Singaporean and Malaysian dishes served in decent size with very reasonable price. One of my favourite dining places in the city. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves southeast Asian food.
The place was actually quite spacious with lots of seats. The staffs were nice, we ordered in front and then given a number. Food was pretty quick to come out.
I love the mee rebus. Tasted just like what I had back home (Medan, Indonesia). It was the perfect amount of sweet and salty, as well as the consistency of the gravy. The noodle was also cooked well, served with boiled eggs, garnished with fried shallots. Simple but really comforting.
The nasi lemak was HUGE, definitely bigger than the photo lol. The chicken was flavorful and tender, sambal was on point, anchovies and peanut weren't greasy and added great texture. The rice was good but not that fragrant and was bit drier than preferred.
Kaya butter toast was also yummmm. Their homemade kaya was famous for being good so pair it up with butter ya can't go wrong. Toast wasn't too crispy too which I enjoyed.
Barley drink was quite good, not too sweet which was great but could be more generous with the serving (especially the hot one).
Update:
It was really crowded on a tuesday noon, I had to queue to order. However my friend's nasi lemak was quick, though mine took a while.
Nonetheless hainanese chicken rice was pretty good, chicken was tender and chili sauce and sauce was okay though it lacked the gingery flavor it's supposed to have.
Another update:
Had the mee siam and it was pretty good, the noodle was bit undercooked though so it was bit hard and was bit spicy too so beware of that.
Stir fried carrot cake (sweet) was quite good in terms of flavour though the small portion is well bit scanty so maybe go for the large if you want to be full.
Also the kaya was pretty good, depending on whether you like strong coconut flavour this might not be for you cus its more eggy than usual so kinda custardish so personal preference really, i like both.
Overall a solid place for some Singaporean/ Indo/ Malay food.
( follow for more!✨)
xx,joelle.
Great authentic food. The char kuew teow, mee goreng, and clams were a particular highlight for me. This place definitely gives you hawker centre vibes and that is also reflected in the prices too which are really good value for what they offer. Would definitely go back!
Fishball and vege soup, kaya and butter toast, with Teh Tarik tea. My favourite kind of random Malaysian lunch! I especially like the teh tarik, creamy and smooth.
I also like their char teuy tiew. Full of wok charred flavor. Their crispy noodles are a bit different to the normal chinese ones. It's very broken up noodles.

The taste of the durian is not bad, and its pretty good. Worth with the price which is only $7. Never tried from the restaurant before but will come there to eat all their food next time :)

At first I thought this was an Irish pub by the name Killiney but I was so wrong. This is a good old fashioned hawker style place to eat anything pretty much Malaysian. I had a short period of time for lunch so decided to have something straight off the menu that looked quick and easy. The $16 set meal was ideal. One entree, one main, one drink. Had the spring rolls which were nice and crispy with contents inside not too soft. Main was laksa veggies and egg - I’m not vegetarian but this was excellent. Iced lemon tea for drink. Food was prepared quickly and portion sizes were good. Flavour was great.
Staff were busy but very helpful. Restaurant has nice decor. Toilets clean. Good access via tram. Easy to find in Bourke Street. I’m looking forward to exploring the menu more.
Killiney Kopitiam served Malaysian hawker meals at a pretty great range and prices. We opted for the build-your-own lunches where you selected the side/main/drink combos. We went for the nasi lemak/kaya toasts/Bandung drink and mee goreng/spring rolls/lychee drink. The spring rolls were hollow/empty inside and the Bandung drink was way too sweet and not fragrant enough, but everything else was delicious and quite authentic despite being a chain/franchise. Overall it was great lunch deal.
Great value. Food came out quickly and fresh, flavorsome and authentic. The char kuey teow was very delicious as was the clams. Definitely recommend this spot if you're wanting value and good food.
Tried this store long time ago not sure why I haven’t come back to this store again till today. Portion is generous, good food, affordable and good service.
We ordered nasi lemak with fried chicken and beef rendang, nasi goreng chicken and seafood mie goreng. None of the dishes is disappointed.
Will I be back? Yes! Will go back more often now.
Was craving some Malaysian/Singaporean food today so came here. Ordered the Nasi Lemak with Curry chicken and the portion is big and only $9.90, and there's even cheaper dishes on the menu too, good value as a uni student. Taste was standard, not too salty which was great, but they give a lot of peanuts and there's a lot of Curry for your rice.
There's quite a few lonely diners here so don't worry if you come alone, I did and the restaurant has a nice buzz during the lunch hour. Will say that as soon as you finish your meal, the staff will immediately pick it up so either they're efficient or want you to go quickly haha
Overall a cheap cheery fair at this restaurant 👍
Decent quality food but what makes this place great is the quick service and MEGA servings.
I drop in once every couple of weeks for a takeaway lunch and always get the Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken for $10. Always ready in just a couple of minutes and its really enough food for two people.
There's just something about this place which makes me come back again and again. It's definitely not the best tasting food (as there are other places with far better food), nor is it the smiling, friendly customer service. Maybe it's the fact that I'm from the Malaysia/Singapore region, and this place just reminds me of home. As I always believe, it's the little things that count. They use those cheap fake banana leaf plastic plates for like every dish, the lights are literally just hanging bulbs like at a street stall, and when I ask for more chili sambal, I don't even have to finish my sentence and the waiter knows that I want more sambal, even before he even reaches our table. He doesn't even need to smile, but that's not the point, because he gets it, and in a weird, twisted way, I prefer that he just gets the sambal without further words. It's like a home away from home, and because it's not crowded, even on a Friday evening, I feel like I can come here and know that I will be able to find a small corner in which I can escape from the rat race happening just outside, to wind down after a long week at work, and to just appreciate the comforting feeling this place seems to have.
Cheap, good and fast service. I had the mini hotpot fish with rice for $12.00. The hot tea tarik is ok but not frothy enough. Overall great joint for quick lunch or break.

Surprisingly they have mini Hotpot for 1 person, came with a bowl of steam rice, perfect portion to me. Tried the fish Hotpot, love the ingredients and the balance taste. The small candle which to keep warm under the pot really helps!
Extremely fast service, lovely staff, delicious food, and so cheap!! I honestly can’t believe how much food I got for less than $10. And it all tasted so good (the rice was cooked in stock so it also tasted amazing). I can’t wait to take all my friends here 😊💖
What a delightful little find - cheap and filling and quick service too. We ordered roti, fried kway teow with seafood and chilli sambal chicken. They were also very happy to supply extra sambal - you really do need this to make it as spicy as I like. The servings are generous, my only complaint was they only gave two prawns with the fried kway teow. They do have a liquor license with a small standard range of Australian and Asian beers but I'm uncertain about the range of wines (definitely BYO for this). Would definitely come back to try other dishes - not many places in the city where you can get a big main course for
Killiney is a Singaporean franchise popular with international students and which already has three stores in Melbourne. You can find great Hainanese chicken rice here and a similarly amazing roti prata with curry sauce (which we order every time!).

Delicious food and great, friendly service! The food came out quickly even on a Saturday night and was surprisingly cheap too! Would love to come back again for more!
Killiney has been around a long time and the food is pretty consistent. Service is usually efficient. My favourite is the mee rebus. Tastes very close to the real thing. This is also one of the only places in Melbourne to get the wet version of mee siam. Love it!
This chain of restaurants from SIngapore provides well priced SIngapore food. CKT, roti canai, mee goreng. The lunch deal is very good value at $15. This is very authentic to what you would get in SIngers. Get on it.
One of the few places I've found that makes Singaporean Carrot Cake (maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places), and it tastes just like I remember it tasting when I lived in Singapore.
Will definitely be coming back next time I need a carrot cake fix.

Did not expect such a nice vegetarian menu when i went into this joint! The nasi lemak with tofu instead of chicken was very nice and they have authentic Singaporean drinks!!!
Standard Malaysian eatery. Have tried the mee rebus and Hainanese chicken rice. Tasted quite okay considering I had not been eating Malaysian food for some time. Good for quick lunch.
Lunch menu is great value for money. My pick is kaya toast and lychee drink !! The main meals are okay. But these side dishes and drinks are very good. After eating all that if you can go work, you deserve a kaya toast

+3.5
DO:
*try all the vegetarian options WITH egg. icebear recommends the Mee Goreng + Fried Ho Fun
*try the chilli crab - fairly decent rendition of the singapore chilli crab and they always have large crabs with so much sauce!
DON'T:
*dine here if greasy goodness is not your thing. nearly everything is oily and it can leave you quite thirsty
*come for the #instafood #melbournefoodie photos because this place doesn't do pretty presentation
Great food and friendly service at a very reasonable price. The ambiance is a little dreary, but reminds me of the food back in Singapore. Highly recommended!
Great service and good honest food. The guy was great with my egg allergy and checked what I could eat. Value for money is also great, $15 for a starter, main and a drink. The atmosphere could be slightly better, feels a little like a canteen and could have better lighting and music. For the money you can't go wrong though!
I made a massive reservation for a lot of people some time ago and the people here were very accommodating. Our food came pretty quickly considering the number of people in our table. I tried their Chicken Rice and they were pretty authentic for chicken rice in Melbourne! The chicken was succulent and the rice was fragrant.
It's aiiiight... We had 2 entrees (fish balls and satay chicken) 2 mains (soft shell crab Laksa and chicken rice) and 2 hot teh tarik.. In total it cost us $30.70 thanks to entertainment book that's about to expire in June'17 😄... Okay, so overall the dishes were so so.. It's not amazingly good, it's not crap.. It's just aiiiight (average). Appreciate the experience and friendly staff
Their Chilli crab dish is one of the must try. The Chilli is not spicy so it's just right. You can order the little buns to eat with the Chilli crab source. During the lunch office rush hour, I usually go with their fried Kway Teow. If you have time to enjoy your meal, I highly recommend their Chilli crab and it's not pricey.
Service is average. Price is valuable.
We had the mee siam, black carrot cake, belachan long beans and rendang with roti. It is always hard to find the exact same taste as you get in Singapore but it was good enough to satisfy. Not a bad joint if you want to satisfy your Singaporean cravings.
I had dined in and food delivery from this place. maybe not a fancy place but foods here are very delicious!!! even they are a bit cold by delivery, still so good. can't wait to come back trying more dishes.
Came in to dine for Singapore Malaysian type food. I chose Killiney Fried Kway Teow as the picture on the menu book was very appealing. On the menu, it states that this Kway Teow is going to be mildly spicy. So I requested with the waitress for it to be not spicy at all as my daughter could not tolerate spicy food. The waitress was very friendly. She even offered if I would like the chilli to be put separately in a bowl. Indeed, after the order came, I got a separate bowl of chilli that I requested. We love the sambal chilli, really tastes delicious and the food was amazing too.
Great service and staff, really good food, well presented and full of flavour, great selection and great value for money. Highly recommended.
Let me confess, I love Malaysian Food and I keep looking for opportunities to eat Malaysian Cuisine wherever I travel. While a friend recommended Killiney Bourke during my first visit to Melbourne and I have been keep visiting them since then. While I have tried some authentic Malaysian dishes here, my favourites remain the Nasi Goreng, Fried Kway Teow, and Chicken Satay. Nasi means Rice and Goreng essentially means Fried. It's the humble asian fried rice, but this malaysian version comes with a perfect mix of chicken, prawns, and some yummy fish cakes. This sweet, sour, & spicy fried rice is perfectly balanced with authentic malaysian flavours (with some peanuts and bok choy thrown in). For those sensitive to spicy asian food, I would recommend to order in the Iced Milo as an accompaniment to cool down your palate.
The Chicken Satay at Killiney Bourke can't get more authentic with charcoal grilled chicken, served with a sweet peanut sauce with onion and cucumber slices.
Don't miss their Kaya Toast, it's a wonderful egg + coconut jam served between soft slices of bread. Traditionally the bread is a wheat bread, charcoal grilled as well. But here, you get white bread that is not charcoal grilled (a slight disappointment ). The Kaya Toast along with a Teh Tarikh (Malaysian pulled milk tea) would be a perfect malaysian breakfast.
Quick Summary - Wonderfully delicious and authentic Malaysian cuisine, paired with a awesomely quick service, make me visit Killiney Bourke again, and again.............. and again.
Pretty good service. They took our order wrong. Yet they changed it without complaining. As for the food, it was mostly good and the meal deal was pretty decent. Charging one dollar extra for teh tarik was a bit pushy but i guess it's up to them how to run the business. We had laksa which was good though not much toppings, roti, which was a way too oily, and chicken curry which was meh. It felt like a curry out of a packet. The entree kaya toast was not bad but i can make it at home...
The food was good but not great. Generous serve. The sweet and sour sauce was toooo sweet and the fish was over cooked. The price was fair. This place was highly recommended by a friend, but I don't know I wasn't too impressed.
A CBD gem. Nice interiors and a big menu. A regular place for me.
The Singapore chilli crab available only for dinner reminded me of Singapore. The serving is huge and the sauce yummy.
The kaya toast is a good all day pick me up.
The seafood laksa is delicious without being over the top spicy and a cosy winter warmer in Melbourne's fickle weather as is the Roti Canai.
The seafood/tofu Nasi Goreng and Nasi Lemak are are all delicious and full of flavour.
The hot Teh Tarik is a must to complete the meal.
Ps: I do not recommend eating here before a big meeting. :-)
The Nadi
ordered a set menu for $15 with a main, side, and a drink. There are quite a few mains to choose from - I was happy to have ordered Singapore Laksa, very good soup base. Good serve of noodle and toppings. Beside main dish, the fish ball was also recommended, they tasted different from what I would normally have, in a good way! I wouldn't recommend the toast tho - just an ordinary toast if you like.
And I ordered Iced Banding because I didn't know what was that - wa lau ! so so sweet, in a bad way.
$15的套餐真的蛮不错的,LAKSA不错鱼虾味很足;nasi lamak的米饭和小菜都很好,炸鸡一般太油太干;kaya toast没什么味道;鱼丸很好吃劲道弹性足。
Decent flavouresome food, service was pretty quick. They have a convenient side + main + soft drink for $15 deal. I got a Mee Rebus and was pleased with them.
I was fiending a curry laksa after speaking to my partner. Didnt want to go back to the usuals so decided to try something new. Good malaysian/singaporean food at great value. I ordered the $15 lunch deal which included entre main and drink. I got the springrolls, singaporean laksa and teh tarik all of which came out promptly. The soup is not as robust as expected and there was alot more fish cake than anticipated. The teh tarik was good and springrolls are your standard spring rolls. I asked for some sambal chilli and this sambal chilli is outstanding. Service was great and good value but i personally wouldnt come back for curry laksa. I would stick to laksa bar as that is their bread and butter.
Great singaporian/malaysian spot in the city.
Plenty of options on the menu. A must try for a cheap dinner or lunch.

A great price and fantastic service for decent Malaysian food... No BS type place that gives you the good stuff, highly recommended! The beef rendang is to die for.
