I’m not one to head off to a fish and chips for dinner. But my good friend mentioned how good it was, I had to check it out. Thanks DJ!. Located so close to the water, you can actually get that beachside feeling. I got the special – didn’t think too much. Man was I surprised – this place was amazing.

Decided to lunch at Sea on Quay today and chose their grilled Blue Grenadier fish with Chunky Chips and homemade tartare sauce (no unknown additives) & a piece of lemon for $11.90 (yes, I spent the extra dollar to eat healthy as opposed to battered fish). Seriously one of the best Fish & Chip shops in Melbourne and visibly spotlessly clean. The fish was tasty and the chunky chips were to die for, I was very impressed. Sian, the head chef & I assume owner was very friendly and he served my meal steaming hot & within 15 minutes of ordering (I was his first customer at 11:55am). The establishment by 12:15pm was abuzz with about 12 customers either waiting for their order or in the process of ordering, or eating - always a sign of great food.

Update: Aug 14, 2017 - I've eaten here almost weekly ever since my first visit (above) & seriously the range of food's quality just never seems to change - it's consistently great.

Excellent fish and chips. The out of the main thoroughfare shop is welcoming and clean and the notice board advertises the special of the day and the price board identifies the origin of each fish which is either Australia or NZ. Fish is cooked beautifully and the chips are tasty and just the right amount. Worth the walk from the CBD.
This is a really nice little fish and chips restaurant with good decor and absolutely lovely and attentive staff. Outdoor seating, alcohol available and lots of food options including pack options. I had the grilled flake pack which came with a slice of lemon, a side of chips with tartare sauce and a salad of my choice (Asian herb slaw). The fish was cooked perfectly, chips were good and salad was also really nice and a big portion too. Great food and served on a board as well. This will become a regular dining option for us and I recommend.
My family & I visited Sea on Quay several times whilst on a family holiday to Melbourne and we all found the food and service to be superb, the fish was cooked to perfection either in or out of batter and the salads and potato cakes were superb.
We will definitely visit Sea on Quay again when back in Australia/Melbourne and would like to say thank you again for the food and service.
This place has got the BEST chips ever! Crispy and tasty; perfectly cooked and salted - worth the calories. Cajun fish wrap is my current go to. Light but filling with crunchy salad. Fish is always fresh and as far as fish n chip places go, a lot of healthy options. So glad this place is here.
I've been here several times now since they have opened. The fish and chips, calamari and salads are to die for. Service is great and if the weather is nice you can sit outside along the river. Beer and wine available and even a happy hour. Compared to the other pricy options along the river here, this is a great place and fast and friendly servicep! I love the calamari, the beer battered fish, the great assortment of salads and the roasted potatoes!!
Great place... Fresh food, reasonably priced... Fish portions could be better. Otherwise, very fresh and tasty salads and flavorful burgers.
Just discovered this place after seeing the burger place 2 doors down moving to Brunswick and the next store down was fully booked! This is no ordinary fish and chips eatery, it has much more than that! They have a variety of salads on their menu which is great for someone health conscious like me.. Today, I had a grilled burra that was cooked to perfection - with a crispy skin and soft flesh. I also had an Asian slaw with ginger, paw paw and chilli with this amazing tangy sauce! The service was superb, given it was lunch time and they only had 2 people running the show. Best of all, they gave me a FRee bowl of beer battered thick cut chips! Even when I was trying to be healthy, the chips were hard to resist 😅 😍 Thanks for a lovely lunch experience, Sea on Quay! 😉
The food is amazing and the location is superb for a great dine with your love ones . The customer service is fantastic but overall the food is beyond words ! Everything was just perfect .
So good! Only 14 dollars a whole dish . Fresh fish and good chips. They even give you tartare sauce and lemon. Nice atmosphere. Very simple and yummy!

Sea Salt is my go-to takeaway, I have tried nearly everything on the menu and it is absolutely stunning! The manager and all the staff are so polite and caring, the manager always goes out of his way to check that everyone is enjoying their meal. My favourite dishes include the teriyaki salmon, the chicken burger and the classic fish and chips! A wonderful spot for lunch, or dinner in the Carlton area! Family friendly.
We love Sea Salt! A regular for our Friday night fish and chip fix, we love the chips and the crispy fresh flake. Avoid the fish bites, they never taste as good as the flake. The only thing to make this place better would be if they'd offer a crumbed fish option 😜

10/10 $8.50 grilled Blue Grenadier, fresh, simple, well cooked and delicious.
8/10 $22.90 Barramundi Bowl.
Sadly, Sushi Roll and Inari were dry 2/10 ... left them too long in the fridge perhaps ... and why am I buying Japanese stuff in a fish & chips shop.
7/10 $9.50 Pinot Grigio
Top notch fish n chips concept store. This place started off as a small shop selling mainly sushi hand rolls and takeaway fish n chips with 2 small tables out at the front. Many years later, it has transformed into such a magnificent place offering even more healthy options. Such a wide variety of seafood to choose from to pair with awesome salads to cater for any palate. Well done!
Great quality seafood. Delicious fish and chips, and sushi, and an impressive fishmonger section. I often buy fish to cook at home from here.
