The service offered at this place was sensational. Attentive, but not imposing at the same time. The chef did a great job at the teppanyaki and nothing was overcooked. Flavours were on the side of bland, but once dipped in their sauces, nice. Fresh ingredients all the way and the banquet was incredibly filling.
When I think teppanyaki, I think of an interactive dining experience with flying food and knife throwing. Sadly, there was no rice catching at riverside teppanyaki. Nonetheless it was an amazing meal. We opted for a set menu which included tataki, scallop, flaming special no1, lobster, garlic rice, wagyu beef and crepe suzette. I highly recommend the flaming special and it's included in most of the set menus. It's like a grilled, creamy, warm california roll that falls apart in your mouth. The lobster come in a great portion and worth the money. Although I was full half way through the set menu, the garlic rice is too good to pass. Overall a great dinner and would recommend for group bookings or date night.
Typical of teppanyaki restaurants. Well laid out show cooking bar. Fast and efficient service.
I liked the salad: mixed greens with freshly cooked and hot mushrooms sprinkled with just right amount of vinaigrette dressing.
Our food were prepared and cooked without much fanfare, but it tastes good. Meat is tender and juicy. As mentioned in other review portions are a bit small; but I think just right to satisfy.
Food 4/5
Service 4/5
Environment 4/5
Nice view restaurant is located near the Yarra River though you can not see the view when you focus on the chef’s performance. Everything is fantastic and you can purchase a voucher from Groupon. The beef is tender and crab looks so big. Nice dinner!
Surf and Turf- Special Menu
I have been to Riverside Teppanyaki two times, and both times were very enjoyable. The food was excellent, the set menu is perfect. The food was a smaller portion but I was very full after our set finished. My favourite has to be their flaming number one, absolutely delicious. The crab salad inside tasted so fresh and their secret sauce topped all over was so creamy. I had very tasted anything so fresh and unique before.
The lobster, scallops and sashimi I had were all very fresh. I enjoyed very dish especially the wagyu steak, very fatty and juicy. I totally recommend coming here for a nice dinner, you won't be disappointed.

We had dinner at this restaurant last month. We got a 200$ Groupon Boucher for 4 people . We thought that it might not be enough food but we were absolutely wrong. It was more than enough.
Delicious, simple and well seasoned.
I’ll be back to try sushi rolls.
I came here with a groupon, i think it was $370 for 4 people or so.
There were 8 courses, all which were amazing in taste and quality!
My favorites were the wagyu steak and crab salad wrapped in kingfish 🤤
My boyfriend’s favourite was surpringly the cauliflower soup (???) It was very yummy though
After the 8 courses all 4 of us were so full - finishing everything was very hard.
We all highly recommend the 8 course meal, it was well worth the price and experience! We’d give riverside teppanyaki a 3.7/5 if possible, however with this rating system it is definitely closer to a 4 than a 3!
On a whole, the food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. (Best dish was the sashimi, very fresh). I found that there were not enough chefs to manage all the teppanyaki stations which resulted in our crab rolls being very burnt when served. However the quality and taste of our other courses/ the quality of the service is why my rating of this experience is 4/5.
I purchased the $85 for an 11 course meal groupon deal with wagyu AA9+ upgrade alongside my partner. Really enjoyed our experience.
We were seated on a large teppanyaki bar where we could see how the chefs prepared our food in such finesse and professionalism. They cook every meal right in front of you. And every now and then they put on quite a fire show! We were in awe.
As for the food, we both initially thought the portions were too small but however left full and satisfied. Standout dish was the number one special. I’ve never liked crab salad and this was honestly my first time entirely enjoying a dish with crab salad in it. No picture because I was excited to try it! Came down as both of our top picks.
The other starters, Wagyu Tataki, Dragon Egg and Poke Cone were ok. We came hungry so we devoured them in seconds lol.
The grilled barramundi had a crispy skin, and was delicious and fresh. The mushroom salad was also tasty. My partner, a rare vegetable eater, actually found himself finishing his salad!
Now onto the main course. The Wagyu Amiyaki was AMAZING. The beef was tender and was a perfect medium rare with juices oozing from it every bite. Again my partner found himself finishing the bean sprouts and asparagus 🤣 By that time we were too stuffed so we could actually do without the garlic rice and miso. The dessert was also delicious. I also liked the idea of a a palate cleanser in the middle of our meals as I felt like the lemon sorbet refreshed my mouth from all the oil in the previous dishes.
As for the service, it was quite attentive. The waitress took our plates away right when we finished it, and new dishes arrive right in front of us just before we finish our current one most of the time. Like I said we were hungry, so we appreciated this. Slow eaters would feel rushed I suppose. The chef was also attentive. One downside is that because they’re cooking right in front of you on the teppan, your hair and clothes smell like oil and grease afterwards.
Overall great food and attentive service. Will probably be back with a groupon deal later for the number one special.

Went here with a friend and it was the best experience I've ever had! The food was amazing and the chef was really entertaining to watch. Each dish was prep with care.
We ordered the ROCK LOBSTER set. It was so good!
Tonight was my first teppanyaki experience and it was amazing. It's always fun to interact with the chef and have them talk you through the meal. We went on a pretty busy night but the service was still amazing.
Favourites of the night was definitely the Flaming number 1 special. Would go back just for that, so I highly recommend it!! The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly - soft and still very juicy. The flamed baby lobster tail was also very delicious. The garlic rice can be quite overpowering but does certainly give you a good kick of flavour before being served a miso soup that is more subtle in flavour. We both left with full bellies and will definitely be returning!
Overall, a great experience for special occasions and must try the flaming number 1 special.
Rating: 4/5 🤗
We took vegetarian tepanyaki.. food was really tasty ..but all vegetarian items ce directly from kitchen only one item was served on tepanyaki... Dessert was yummy...
Best place ive been. Authentic, unique and delicious! I we always come back specially with special occasions. Nice place as well, by the river, and reasonable price. Try their Groupons.
Had a great experience at Riverside Teppanyaki! Came here with workmates and everyone enjoyed it! The food, the atmosphere, and staffs were all excellent! Especially love the Flaming No 1! Will come back soon with hubby!
The restaurant has a really nice design and great atmosphere. Food was quite nice, we got the 10 course meal with lobster tail and wagyu AA9+, favorite part was the flaming number 1 special and the fresh scallops.
We had asked for the wagyu to be cooked medium rare, but it was a bit overcooked to be medium rare.
Only down side is that it's a set menu and not allowed to order anything extra on the side.

I lunched at Riverside Teppanyaki/Kobe Jones at noon & had an entrée of Salmon Sashimi (6 pieces) for $24, followed by a main of Seafood Okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury style pancake with calamari, scallops, prawn, Japanese mayonnaise and okonomiyaki sauce) for $24, the latter presented my palate with a unique pleasant sensation of tasty flavours & the sauce being the wow factor. I enjoyed both dishes and in particular the Seafood Okonomiyaki was presented beautifully. Criticism, I waited 25-30 minutes between courses (with only about 10 customers present), I assume this is because of the preparation & cooking time required for the Okonomiyaki? Service provision was excellent by the friendly waitress & I found the décor truly unique. The ambiance was good with the background music being at a suitable level to be heard over.
The Juror's Verdict: Food 4.5/5, Service Provision 4/5, Will I return: Yes, definitely

Bought the $69 Groupon. No.1 crab special was quite tasty! Wasabi sorbet was really good, if it was on the menu, I would order more scoops. Bay bug was so so, but the Alaska crab leg was the highlight! Sweet and lots of crab meat. The crepe was far too sweet to me. Overall, it was a great experience, but I think the original price of $155 is a bit pricy.
My favourite teppanyaki hangout!!! Love everything about this place! Food is amazing and staff are friendly! Can't wait for my next return! Aria Xin
Incredible ! Amazing staff who helped us to accommodate for our friends who are allergic to seafood.
Amazing food. worth every cent!!!!
Ah-mazing! Visit Kobe Jones and Riverside Teppanyaki as often as I possibly can.. the food is to die for! I've never been a big fan of seafood, but I crave what they have to offer here between each visit! In particular, the Flaming No.1 Special is my absolute favourite... You HAVE to try tris, if nothing else! The service is also impeccable - always greeted, served, and waved off with a smile :-)
Second visit to riverside. And again what a night. Our chef Alberto remembered us from last visit. And looked after U.S. The whole night. Floor staff friendly and great service. We had the surf and turf menu and loved every bit of it. Can't wait to go back again
Have dined at riverside teppanyaki a couple of times. When I think of teppanyaki I think of flames and food being thrown, we got the flames during the preparation of the number one crab salad special (which is my fave dish by the way), but I was disappointed we did not get any other interaction with the chef, it didn't make the experience feel as fun as I thought it would be. Food is quite pricey but is of a good quality. Little disappointed that both times I've been the dessert has been a scoop of icecream and a scoop of gelato, what do you have to do to get the crepes that everybody else was having???
The name really describes everything about this place. It's teppanyaki by the river. Set menu options for lunch are good value and tasty. Friendly cooks and floor staff make you feel very welcome. Each time I've been here it's been fairly quiet, and I really don't understand why... I hope it gets enough custom to stay open.
Great night, Alberto the chef is a card. Refreshing to go to a teppanyaki that's all about the food and the chefs skill and not being a trained seal!! food was great as was the service. with the table full it was simply a fun night. well done.
Beautiful Views. Delicious flavor, very nice atmosphere. We had the lobster sensation menu. Was served at just the right time. The staff was friendly and courteous. Will definitely come back
Great venue, great staff Steve is very friendly and always makes us feel welcome, food is fresh and amazing flavours
AVERAGE. I gave a postive rating for this venue because a negative rating i felt would be too harsh
like many others I too went there with a coupon, i understand coupons are a cheaper option and as a result I am completely accomodating and understanding of differet menus, or lower priorty seating etc. etc
for just under $140 per couple with a coupom , we got a 8 course odd menu.
to be honest, i found 1/3 grest, 1/3 good, 1/3 ok
in our menu we had wagyu, lobster tail, crab, salads, soups, sashimi, fusion sushi and crepes
despite the fact they used high end ingedient for the most, one of the dishes used imitation crab sticks,
the whole meal, i was thinking, I would hate to be paying $330 per two people for this, it just not that inspiring
overall, we had a good night, the service was basic, however it was a rather quick meal for the price, maybe if we were full paying it would have been longer
we;d like to come back but not at full price
thanks for a enjoyale night
My friend and I went for the 11 course and it was great! Loved the lobsters, fried rice and cabbage soup except for the crab sushi.
Amazing Experience!. Myself and partner went with a '9 course teppanyaki' voucher and there is not much I could fault about the experience. Staff were very attentive and friendly. The waiters stopped to chat, explained what we were eating and asked and were interested in how we were enjoying our meal, what we liked and didn't like. We did wait for a little while to start our meal but the chef was friendly and explained everything to us. Neither of us personally like raw fish so one of the dishes we didn't really touch. We both had lobster which was delicious! I can't wait to go back again!
Food, atmosphere and service was amazing. Can't wait to go back!
Love, Love, Love!!!! My hus.... Love, Love, Love!!!!
My husband & I purchased a "kanki 12 course degustation" voucher from spreets and used it last night for our anniversary. It was INCREDIBLE! Each course was to die for.....so fresh and bursting with flavour! By the end of the meal we were literally bursting at the seams. The service was fantastic, the view over the river towards crown casino just perfect, nice warm atmosphere and sensational food! We would highly recommend Kobe Jones!
MY NEW FAVORITE JAPANESE RESTAURANT! !,,,. I have nothing but praise for Kobe Jones!!!
I enjoyed every part of the set menu banquet, we all did!
the staff are friendly and can take a joke, the food is delicious and extremely well presented! I love the look of the tepenyaki bar and cant wait for another night out to try that part! I will be back here time and time again from now on, you will get sick of my face!
Fantastic. A great way to end the year. Four of us dined at this restaurant on New year's Eve, on a 7 course Groupon deal. The whole experience was very special. Chefs were professional and handled the preparation of the food with effortless grace. The seven courses were ample, including big servings of beautifully cooked crab, and we could not finish all the food. Service was impeccable without being over the top.
It wasn't the usual over-the-top entertainment associated with teppanyaki, butmore muted and stylish.
All in all a really great experience.
Possibly the nicest meal I've ever had. Such a fantastic experience with great food. Each dish on the surf and turf set menu was to die for. Our chef was great too.....so friendly and was happy to talk about what he was doing and cooking! This place has easily become my favourite place to dine!!
Loved it!. My partner and I went for riverside Teppanyaki last night for our one year anniversary. We had a great time, the food was just delicious and very fresh. We ordered the "Kani crab" Teppan menu and it was just heavenly, definitely worth the price. The service was impeccable, we were looked after very well. I made a reservation and asked for a table by the window and didn't realise that a table by the window meant for the non-Teppanyaki menu, so after we got their I asked if my partner and I could still get a seat at the Teppanyaki table and they were more than happy to arrange that for us and was very quick about it.
Other than the food, the cocktails at riverside Teppanyaki are excellent, I had a Mojito and it was just the best probably the best I have ever had.
Thank you so much for a great night!
Loved it - worth every cent!. My partner took me here for my birthday on Saturday night and we absolutely loved it! The chef was amazing, he was lovely and the food was so fresh and delicious! We ordered the Surf n Turf option, it was incredible, especially the Flaming no.1 special! Our service was also prompt and our waitress was so nice. Only criticism was the maitre d/manager who yelled a couple times at his staff right in front of us, it was a little awkward and started to dampen our mood however the food and service defiantly brought our spirits back up. He should probably learn to do that behind closed doors. Besides that we had such a great experience here, we will be back!
Lovely experience teppanyaki with very fresh and high quality ingredients but its a bit pricey. Well worth it though.
Best teppanyaki outside Tokyo. We have had a three visits now to teppanyaki area and are very happy with the quality of the food and service. We like to have a little time between courses and the chef accommodated us. Food is absolutely delicious
Thoroughly recommend
Really enjoyed it!. Went on a spreets voucher. Everyone was lovely, from the very friendly maitre d' to the ebullient Howard, our Teppanyaki chef. Good service,Great food, lots of it, you won't go hungry. Make sure you sit around the Teppanyaki counter, great to watch and some standout food. Will go again.
Second visit for the great food & made more memorable by excellent customer service! Will definitely be back for more.
Go for the food, stay for the dessert!. Great location, good food, and an awesome dessert selection! Treated my partner for his birthday and we were surprised by the complimentary champagne and strawberry! The dessert platter is definitely one not to miss. Chocolate chopsticks, 3 macaroons (green tea, coffee?), 3 scoops of ice cream, green tea brulee, and mini cheese cake bites!
Pros:
Lovely staff, great location, they definitely rate high in accommodating for all your needs whether it be for birthdays, large groups, or just a seat by the window overlooking the river.
"Cons":
Can't find any major "flaws" except that it was a bit hard to get the waitress' attention. Totally understandable since it was a weeknight with only a couple on duty.
Surprisingly good. I've read the reviews for the restaurant and every time when a deal came up decided to give it a miss, but my partner bought a voucher and we used it last night. I was preparing for the worst but was really pleasantly surprised. We had a great evening and the food was excellent, with the exception of macaroons (they were kept in the fridge for some reason and came out soggy, they wouldn't be very exciting otherwise as they totally lacked flavour but as they were they become terrible). But even the desert with the macaroons was still great - one of the best ice-creams I've had, nice creme brulee that came with the huge flames on, chocolate chopsticks, etc. Presentation of every dish was superb, all tasteful and the service was perfectly fine.
Another piece of criticism though is that they left front doors open too often and it was really cold and drafty in the restaurant, toilets are communal and quite neglected. Otherwise our experience was definitely positive.
Flavoursome dishes. Riverside Teppanyaki is an upmarket teppanyaki restaurant. We had the 11 course menu with the bug and I do think that all the dishes was well cooked and flavoursome. The chef was pleasant and the showman ship with high flames was interesting but not overly entertaining which allows conversation to still take place at the table. It's not like other teppanyaki places where they throw the food at you to catch and other involvement between chef and eater.
Price is on the high side and I think may not be quite worth it.
Awesome food. We had 11 course "bug" menu, really good. The sauces you are given just adds to the taste. All food is cOoked In front of you, they use their own sauces when cooking with exhilarating fire. If I didn't have groupOn vouchers the I wouldn't pay $145 per person. But $66 pp is well worth it. Also grab the house wines they are surprisingly good
Best teppanyaki I ever had. Great quality and flavours. Loved the lobster and the wagyu the best. Its pricey But great for a special occasion. Service is great and the chefs really nice. Yumi is friendly and the american bartender speaks japanese.
Wonderful. Came here after getting Groupon vouchers. 11-course teppanyaki meal was sensational, the highlight being the mayonaise dipped sushi rolls.
Can not recommend this place highly enough, the only problem being its location is a little tucked away. But maybe that adds to the charm.
Quite expensive, dishes are a bit hit and miss, but good dishes are sensational. Try the volcano roll, number one special and Alaskan crab. All memorable. The remaining aren't really worth it. Overall the great attentive service and riverside location, made it a good experience. Has potential if it keeps improving
Gently poached in mirin and soy sauce, then packaged in foil and puff-baked on the teppan. This was a beautiful way to cook the fish. The end result was succulent and melted in your mouth.
Dined here for a work function, certainly was an enjoyable experience. Staff are no doubt hand-picked carefully as the waitstaff were all very friendly and attentive to when your dish was finished. The chef were entertaining - had good humour and welcomed videos and pictures of their workmanship on the grill.
The variety in foods is appreciated - whether it was for seafood lovers, land meat lovers or vegetarians, they also catered for a colleague whom is vegan. It was lovely to see this restaurant is able to cater for all.
My personal preference - would like more salad options as though the oil they cook with is light (not thick or heavy thank goodness!), there was a significant amount in each dish - it must be due to the type of grill they use. Foods are exemplary in flavours and not too sweet or salty.
Recommended!
We had a 12 course set menu and loved every dish. The food was simple amazing! Nice music, staff and fantastic waterfront views to finish off a great dinner. Will be back!
Great service. Food was generally good but some dishes were slightly salty. They only had two chefs to cook food for 5 groups with a few groups of more than two people, hard work!
The food was amazing!! Loved everything we had. Will certainly be back to try a few more dishes. My only negative would be that the drinks are extremely expensive. $10.50 for a beer and a wine list with hardly had anything below $50.
Had such a good experience at the Riverside Teppanyaki. The staff was super friendly and the chef was talkative while cooking just in front of us. We all had the ten course Japanese menu and a few cocktails. In particular I will recommend Ginza Spritz.
We are coming back soon.
Great location, well organized, food is good. The only complaint is the oil & smoke, everyone smelt like that afterwards. A portable barrier could be used when fry steak fat to avoid splash of hot oil.
Absolutely fantastic dining experience. Atmosphere great, chefs fast efficient and food is delicious. Waiters friendly and service was great. Recommend to all for a wonderful night out.
It was stunning!!! I chose the course menu, and it was awesome. Service was great, and Chef Justine was friendly, nice and gentle. I definitely come back here again! Highly recommend:)
