Don't usually review places - I usually forget to take a photo before I eat the whole meal..
I had the Brioche toast, with berries, maple syrup, cinnamon pears and fresh cream, and an orange juice.
It was pretty bloody good. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, not for $15.50, but it was good, honest food, made with good fresh ingredients. Really couldn't be happier.
Only thing missing was some music in the background. It's a nice place. Super quiet despite being in the middle of the city, but if you're dining alone, it can be too quiet.
Very good breakfast place. Decent coffee, excellent pies & muffins. Very good ambience as it is located in Gordon Place.
Delightful Eatery. We stayed at the historic Gordon Place Hotel (now Quest) in Little Bourke Street and enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the on site Deli 1884. Apart from the traditional bacon and eggs etc, they offer some lovely alternatives such as strawberry Brioche served with Maple syrup (See photo) and the service was warm and friendly. The open seating section shows off the historic hotel as they have maintained much of the original architecture, and the walls have recently been complimented with art work by Debra and Marco Luccio.
Hidden gem in perfect location. Wandered into Deli 1884 and it opens up into a light filled, amazing old building! Avocado smash was delicious. Fresh, tasty, just yum! And yep, great coffee! Delivered exactly as ordered. Service just lovely. Really personal and caring, but professional. As I paid I saw lots of very tempting treats and lunches in their display window which I'll be back to try!
Awesome breakfast menu, we are here by chance as looking for a place serving breakfast after midday. The service was great (blonde British lady well done) and the food was very tasty, fresh and generous portions
Great service from the British lady today, grey value an great food. Non pretentious but equally very nice location. Highly recommend
One of Melbourne's hidden gems. As a rule, I avoid hotel restaurants. Luckily, we stopped in for coffee and ended up having breakfast three days in a row.
Service can be slow, but the food is worth the wait. Top items were the Avocado Smash, Spanish Omelette, and the Brioche French Toast with poached pears. Coffee was a godsend here. Plenty of talent in the small kitchen and behind the coffee machine. Kudos!!
Service with a smile. This super accommodating place stayed open especially for a large group of us recently. Our brunch was lovely, and the service excellent.
Girls from tassie. Wonderful place to go. Food and coffee amazing.!!!Corrina is so friendly and
welcoming nothing is a problem will definately return next time we have a
girls trip away
Perfect Location! Great Fresh Food! Reasonable Price. Upon entering Deli 1884, straight away I am removed from the CBD feeling, I had a long week and had just arrived to complete the final leg of my Victorian conference visit. the setting was perfect, I sat down to be welcomed by Corrina and was straight away made to feel comfortable and relaxed. I was promptly given the menu for the day and also shown the specials. My meal was a chicken burger and chips with salad, all of which was cooked fresh and made promptly. The thing that I Liked the most was the setting and surrounds, there was also a Quest attached of which I inquired about rates for my next visit, they were more than happy to assist! I noticed further down that there had also been couches which also looked great for an afternoon relax, overall I strongly urge everyone to please try this great Deli and enjoy all it has to offer! On my return trip I will be sure to visit and order more!
